I updated my tf101 on Friday, no issues there other than having to update some apps (I'm looking at you, flash)... So far, the tablet *feels* more responsive, but some of it I know is the novelty of it all. I wasn't suffering at all when using the previous version because I used Dolphin HD pretty much exclusively, with little to no type lag. However, ever since ICS took hold, I'm having issues with Dolphin. What happens is that the browser will freeze occasionally when I tap a link that shows in the address bar when I type some characters. It happens on search suggestions or on actual historical links. It does not happen on every tap and when it happens the OS gives me the option of force closing the non-responsive Dolphin. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling Dolphin but it just happened again. Anyone else seeing this or figured out how to fix this? Thanks.

No problems at all with Dolphion HD or any Browser for that matter.
Try to wipe cache and dalvik cache again. Even if you already did it before flashing.
Yea same problem, Dolphin was awesome before and for me the only choice. Now I find chrome for browsing is best and the default bowser for flash / iplayer type browsing.
I cant even full screen top gear in Dolphin any more but works great in the default browser even better than dolphin on honeycomb.
seems like a new learning experience all over again
Dolphin 7.4.0 beta is out which fixes the hangs in ICS.
Dolphin just isn't optimized for ICS. It's been my browser of choice for a long time, but have been using others now until Dolphin gets updated.
Trying the 7.4.0 beta version... Thanks for the heads up sbdags.

Well we'll have to wait for an official update for the new ICS. In the mean time, 7.4 beta seems like a good option, although its still in beta.

7.4 release just appeared in the Market. but it says nothing about ICS in the "What's New".
I just updated from 7.4 beta to the 7.4 on the marked and started browsing. Within 10 minutes it hung again on a historical link... crap...
I had the same problem with Dolphin, I ended up installing Boat Browser, use it all the time now, and it's a good alternative.
I got same problem especially with swiftkeyboard but after uninstall nd use Asus keyboard then everything back to normal.

For me, Dolphin freezes when I select a suggested search term or url. As soon as I touch it, it freezes. Quite annoying. So instead I have to manually type in the full search term or url.
Everything seems to be a POS after ics on my Tf........ Nothing works..... Nice update asus

I'm still experiencing the sporadic hangs even after updating Dolphin HD to 7.6.0 and ICS on the Transformer to 4.0.3. Anybody else experiencing these failures? Searching online brings no solutions.

I have had the same issues with maxthon 1.5 Pad though seems to be working well now.

With the changes to WebView and 3.1's updated CSS support, I believe it's corrected many of the issues with XDA's forums on the Xoom.
I loaded it up and it's running 10x better. I can finally scroll smoothly through the forums without having to resort to the 'XDA Classic' theme.
This is great
But if on the verizon network, the forums suck up data quick with advertisements and peoples unnecissary footers.

my ability to enter texts in the forums after upgrade stinks. Such a lag when typing to words being displayed
Browser rendering in general is much improved.
The vBulletin typing on sites like XDA is still unbearably laggy. There's a 2 second delay between key press and the letter appearing.

Glad I have seen this thx, thought my xoom was laggy, but if iit is ononly xda.......happy days.Except the whole double lletter ttyping tthing.... is there a fix for that?
i was gonna say the opposite really. Browsing these forums is unbeleivably laggy and typing messages is horrendous.
I was thinking maybe that was an issue with using the us software on my xoom, but I guess not.
Using Opera MINI on problem forums , seems to solve the input lag.
Hopefully the stock browser someday will work better.
browser is ok with the forums but the app always fc's when i login then try to open a thread
deleting text in a reply box is a nightmare
My experiences are similar. The text inputs are terrible... but with 3.1, the forum page rendering is much faster.
by the way, is it just me or it is common issue that my xda app downloaded from the Market ALWAYS fc if I logged in then next time I open it, I am guest in that app again...
In that way it successfully blocked every my effort to log in or save a favourite forum in my xoom through that app...
Any fix to this?
Thanks!
things are laggy. Actually suck. Before update it ran much better!! When I scroll down a page i get pink boxes really bad!! :-(
Pink boxes? The update actually made your device slower? Maybe you need to preform a factory reset

XDA Premium works just fine, and has for some time.

At the bottom of the forums switch the view to XDA Classic. It isn't laggy at all for me after doing this.
I'm using the TDR 3.1 rooted kernel and the keyboard is fine. I experienced the lag on the BRD 3.1 rooted kernel. The TDR supports over-clocking and I just flipped that on, works great. I also use the SlideIT soft keyboard which is working nicely. I was having problems with long posts on phpbb forums before 3.1 which is no longer a problem, yay. Things are looking up.
Anyone else having this issue? Its quite annoying.

Not having issues here.
When it dies, it just "goes away", right? Not "Force Close"? If so it's the null-pointer exception I've been seeing. JS is causing it, don't know when or why.
'sup KC!
as i have mentioned on other sites, in cases like this its great to have a backup browser. also please post up the sites that are causing issue so others can test. ive not seen this. i have a stock xoom wifi latest updates.
Happens in backup browser too, I'm using dolphin HD as backup.
Happens on mini2.com, BBC sport. Tried turning off Java, but its needed in lots of sites.

Make sure plugins are set to on-demand. I've seen a lot of sites that crash the browser with a ton of flash ads loaded from js.
I have seen this problem as well on many sites including android.net. It just started out of nowhere on Friday evening. I made situations better by clearing the Dalvek cache, but still crashed my browsers (Stock Browser & Dolphin Mini). I even reinstalled my recovery, and the kernel jst for grins. This helped out a little.
I then saw a note about set CPU causing problems so I uninstalled it and installed no frills CPU. This made things even better.
Next, I cleared the caches again which helped more.
Last, I upgraded the kernel to 1.2.2 and this fixed it up very well.

Yeah, Thursday evening for me- I'd just loaded another kernel from upstream right around the same time and had thought that was it (despite nothing in that kernel being related) and even backed up to a known-good kernel and init scripts (which didn't make a difference).
It's a null-pointer in the WebCore browser SDK, which explains why the Dolphin browsers are affected as well (as they also use that SDK). Opera and FF aren't affected by this, but they both have their own particular issues so I'm preferring Dolphin HD instead.
I've cleared all caches and turned on JS again, and have stayed away from sites that I know will bring it up (www.thesuperficial.com in "Desktop" mode is one), but I don't like knowing that it's only a workaround.
What I'm more curious about is if there was an update (to an app; none of the system files seem to have been affected), or a web-page we've all visited that's dropped something into the caches that is tripping up the JS processor. I don't know enough about HTML personally to know where to look.
Subscribing. Have this exact issue using stock browser, Dolphin Hd, and Maxthon on the following sites:
Www.ford-trucks.com/forums (disabling java allows me to read the site for about 5-10 mins before closing. Posting closes browser immediately.
Www.thedieselstop.com/forums (same results as above)
My Xoom is bone stock FWIW...
Having the same problem with both stock browser and dolphin. Really frusterating because the only fix I have is disabling JS but the only reason I bought the xoom was to do scheduling for work and I need JS for that. Hope someone ffigures this out before my return period is up or its bye bye xoom :-(
has anyone else found a remedy for the browser crash? its getting pretty darn annoying.

To answer your question in my other thread (sorry for the double post), it even happens when I uninstall the Taimat OMG rom and reinstall bigrushdog's 3.1 rom.
according to kcrudup, its a JS issue, but it also happens when I set my JS to on demand.

Used it on OG Transformer with paulburton's ICS ROM. The browser is pretty smooth, and looks just like the pc chrome browser.
I don't have enough posts to link to the file, but it should be pretty easy to find the apk by now.
i tried it on Sensation
its pretty sweet
we need ICS for TF101 now!
Does Chrome for Android have all the same security and privacy issues that Chrome for desktop has?
If it does, i'm sticking with Opera.
Google and Adobe won't support flash for Chrome on Android
Which is either good or bad depending on you.
I use Flash for live video so I don't like this decision. It's a good option to have, you can always opt to not install it

Works great on my Rezound with 4.0.1! This browser is sweet! I would totally dump the stock browser for this anyday, but I kinda wished they kept the darker gray theme rather than going back to light gray..
The tabs sharing with the desktop Chrome is F-ing Awesome! Like what Chrome2Phone should have been all along!
No Flash in Chrome for now. Adobe say they won't support it but hopefully Google will adapt it later.

Where be the tab stack? Do we lose that, another Tablet sacrifice?
Fairly stable for me. The only crash I had was with something like 7-8 tabs open (all XDA Prime forums, plus a few chrome blogs, LOL! I like it. A LOT! And typically I am hard to please, especially where browsers are concerned. There are way to many Android browsers out there that are acceptable, but not outstanding. Each has their own little tweaks and claim to fame, but under the hood they are ridiculousy similar. Let's see, I have had on my Prime, at one point or another:
Stock. - Works well. So well it bores me, LOL
ICS+ - A nice set of enhancements. I use it more than the stock webkit browser
Dolphin and Dolphin HD - I like, don't love it. A bit TOO slick, and some things frustrate me. It will be better when the HD catches up to the small screen version, I think
Opera Mini and Opera Mobile - What can I say. 2 solid browsers here. Mobile is a keeper. [
boat browser - Not imopressed, other than speed, it was buggy. removed.
Skyfire - I LOVED this one on my phone in early releases it was amazing. When Skyfire decided t charge me to see flash, I decided to cut them lose. Too many alternatives. It's not THAT great.
Firefox - a HUGE let down, but everyone expected magic here. Didn't materialize.
Maxthon. Very cool new browser.Jury still out on this one.
That's right off the top of my head.
Anyone know how to make the tab "Stack" appear in chrome, or is that only in the phone version, because we have the real estate to see the tabs. If so I am disappointed. That was chromes one big trick pony, and I was excited to try it. So far I can't see the button in top left to enable them, just a new tab button. Anyone?

I just hope one day get rid about this CPU eater FLASH!
just trying out opera now, I'm quite surprised. Last time I tried it images on sites wouldn't load for me and it kept opening mobile versions of sites. Granted it was at least 6 months ago that I tried it last but it seems to have improved a lot.

Let's say it wasn't installed by the ROM by default - you'd still be able to install it from the google play store or from a titanium backup though right? What does it offer over the stock browser which is significantly faster than chrome on all web pages I have seen, offers full screen options, java, flash and bookmark synching with PC chrome. I really can't see why anyone prefers mobile chrome.

Mobile Chrome sucks a lot. Stock is way better when you're rooted.
I thinks there's no need to put it in your rom.
If people want to use it, they'll know how to download it. It'll cut down on ROM size anyway.

I mean well yeh the stock browser works great as long as your not on the stock rom.
(I'm on 4.2 and atm don't use your ROM), BUT why do you want to remove Chrome? It's just one apk of your ROM and doesn't slow down the tablet, ppl who don't want it should just not use it (put in Aroma Installer so that they just don't have it if they don't want it )
But I prefer Chrome over Stock, as Stock also with all this tweaks etc. just didn't have such a nice user surface and also felt smoother (had bit longer to load)

Chrome is now 20mb and is available on the market. That is the main reason for wanting to remove it. However I have been using it exclusively for the last few days and am quite enjoying it. It is nowhere as smooth as stock (can't agree with you there) but where it does well is on sites with java script. The one failing of the stock browser is it is seriously buggy with js.
I did lots of testing on this a few days ago, all tests were done in the same part in my house so it was fair, and the test was loading xda forum with all topics, boat, stock, angel and firefox all failed after 90 seconds they were still loading and i got bored of waiting lol, dolphin (the latest with flash took on average 45 seconds but chrome killed it by loading the forum in around 25 seconds, i did t his test lots of times and as controlled as possible, i shut all other apps and the free ram was always close to 450mb so i suggest chrome for most things but if you need flash then dolphin is the browser for you, or do it like me and have both and use the best for the task
