[Q] Upgrading from aurora 1.9 to 1.10 - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

What should I do?
should I move back to official GB 2.3.5 and start from scratch or can just load the 1.10 image?

I personally did just apply the update from the .zip, like the dzo's topic says without wiping any data from my phone. Works just fine so far.

You should first try without wipe (always remember to wipe cache). If something goes wrong or doesn't work then wipe.

When flashing a new rom, you need to wipe the factore/data, cache, and dalvik cache. Also when flashing a gingerbread rom [CM7] you need to flash the latest gapps with it; did you do so?
I would just try to reflash it. If that doesn't work, try redownloading it then reflashing. I haven't had any problems with CM7.
Try updating your profile before reflashing CM7 (settings, system updates, update profile). That should do the trick and fix the slow 3g speeds. Also I would flash calkulins format all zip. That will give you a clean slate when flashing CM7. You can find it in the development section with a quick search. Sorry I don't have it handy!

[Q] Before Flashing CM7 on Rooted G2

I and running stock ROM on Rooted G2 currently Froyo 2.2. I have tried twice now to flash the CM7 Rom, first time using the video instructions on G2 Hacks.com and that resulted in hanging at the CM7 splash screen with the arrow spinning for almost an hour. I rebooted into recovery and restored my latest backup. All was good, so i tried Flashing again using Rom Manager after downloading the latest CM7 Nightly from the app. Created another backup and started the flash process again. Same results as last time. I have read a few threads about "Wiping" the phone before flashing but concerned i will lose my root access or am i wrong? Could someone shed some light please.

You should ALWAYS wipe dalvik cache when upgrading a rom. When doing a major change (like installing CM7), it is usually required (or at least recommended) to also wipe data and the cache partition. When doing this (wiping data / cache):
1. You will not lose root. You will have root when booting into CM7
2. You WILL lose your data stored on the phone (not the sdcard). So backup the stuff you need using something like Titanium first...
You may need to wipe your efs partitions if you have gps issues in cm7. There is an app in the dev section for this...
But in the end, it is worth it. CM rocks!

[Q] Flash player don't work in Aurora (DZO rom) - Open Again

So i came from gb 2.3.5 flash works fine! then i upgrade to 2.07 with the 3.08 kernel! and the flash don't work. i install flash but i can't clean is cash or data only can force stop and uninstal. when something on the web needs to use flash the browser always shuts down but when i press home button for a while it appears the option to choose the browser you want and the browser which was closed.
I think I'm the only person with this problem!
now I'm thinking in downgrade to gb 2.3.5; then go to .35 aurora i think is the 2.05 or 2.04, and then go to 3.0.8.
please let me know what you think
Edit1
it's a noob thing has me!
when i root the phone for the first time i did it with the sd card mounted!!
i downgrade for gb 2.3.5 official, do all the wipes and root the phone white the sd card unmounted! after that i install the 2.04 aurora, check flash if was on; and it was, after that 2.08 again, flash runs perfect!
i did it
edit2
don't restore nothing or it will do it again!
i did it and now i have to do it again
edit3
do all the wipes! problem solved
Edit4
Don't restore nothing. With the wipes i can only use the stock browser.
In firefox appears something like some credentials dont let me use flash.
I unable them and still do the same.
Going to reinstall from the scratch. Wish me luck

Same here, only works in stock or browsers that use stock.
Dolphin HD is the best for ics so far, flash works with it as well
Reinstall done! The same problem... nothing solved.

Need help changing ROM Criskelo 5 to liquid smooth 3.2

Hi Guys,
I am trying to change my ROM from Criskelo 5.1 (has speedmod kernel but dont think that should make a difference) to LiquidSmooth 3.2. Usually this is a pretty straight froward process but for some reason I just cant get past CWM. Here is what I've done so far.
Reboot into recovery.
Flash AbyssNote 3.2 (redtouch) and reboot into AybssNote.
Wipe everyting (inlcuding dalvik and battery)
Flash LiquidSmooth 3.2
On doing this the phone restarts - as is expected - but then it just reboots in CWM. I've tried various permutations of this (even tried wipes from CWM before going into Abyss) in the hope that it might work but nothing seems to work. Before this I tried to go Criskelo 5 to 8 and got stuck on boot screen.
Thanks God for nandroid or this would have become an extremely frustrating experience. Any ideas ?
EDIT: Used AbyssNote 4.2 and not 3.2 .... sorry about that

Have you try other ROM besides LiquidSmooth? Since it stuck in CWM, I suspect the installation script for LiquidSmooth is not compatible with Abyss 3.2 CWM.

I was hoping you wouldn't say that .... I have a really slow net connection at the moment and don't have any GB stock roms saved (next time I'll think twice before I delete stuff ). Is there any other way I can do this or is this the only option I have ?

I tried to update to Criskelo v8 and in that case I got stuck on the boot screen. Had to do a hard reset and get back into recovery manually.
Sorry about the confusion, I actually used Abyss 4.2 (which I got from the Liquid Smooth thread) so I don't think there should be any compatibility issues.
Go back to abyss42 and factory reset from within abyss42 (red menu). Also do cache and dalvik wipe.
Reinstall your custom rom.
And since you have a slow connection, there is a chance your files are corrupt.

Do a unzip -t <zipfile> to verify the file is not corrupted. As above post stated, it maybe a corrupted zip file.

Did all of that i.e Factory reset from within Abyss42, clear cache and dalvik wipe.
I guess I'll try downloading again but why I doubt that would fix anything since this is the 2nd ROM I've had the same issue with. Well not exactly same, in the case of Criskelo 8 it gets stuck on boot screen where as with liquid smooth 3.2 it keeps going back into CWM . Still worth a try though. will update tonight once I get to download again.
Anyway of verifying whether my files are corrupt or not ?

Is a zip file, so just get one of those app that can open zip/compressed file from the Google Play. I use AndroZip, FYI. I believe there are more choices in Google Play.

Tried to open it with ES Zip Viewer and it opens up without any issues, so does that mean that the file is not corrupted ?

'fixed brick' - now always have to configure settings after boot

Hello,
bricked my defy a few days ago after rom flashing failed. Phone wasn't booting properly, always showing the big red 'M' letter. Fixed it via rds tool, roms are running again but they don't keep the settings.
After every reboot I have to do systems setup again (language, accout, time). It's like having a wiped phone.
What's going wrong? What can I do?!
Few odds:
- can't wipe dalvik cache in recovery. Something pops up very short, couldn't read.
- cannot install apps. Market doesn't start Download.
...
Flashed my rom+gapps again. This time market tells me there's not enough memory on my phone.
Anything's wrong with my recovery? How do I install a new one? Via sndinit again? Any alternatives?
Hi there,
I had exactly the same problem few days back when I tried to make my phone dual boot and wanted to run CM7.2 as primary ROM and CM10 as a test ROM. Experiment failed miserably and the CM7.2 was wiped out and on top of that CM10 was overwritten as primary ROM. Then the same problem as you. It was going through boot loop and every time I had to start the phone setup.
I had to flash SBF using RSDLite and root it again using superone click.
Then installed the CM7.2 again and then later flashed CM10 Nightly just on top of the CM7.2 with out wiping the data.
CM10 I used was Quarx one from Aug 25th and it works great.
I know I am not that smart but I try stuff so I can experience latest stuff.
Not sure if this helps but, let me know if you need more details.
Regards
Kalyan

In the meantime I found out that /data isn't and can't be mounted...
Maybe you should start again with flashing a stock sbf...
