hello guys,
before installing ics, is it matter which version of official GB installed first?
should we install last build of GB? Does the changes or fixes of GB effect ICS?
thank you.
Install beta 1 or 2. That way you will get unlocked bootloader.

I would like to update to GB and probably just toss ADW over that.
Best way to do that? I put the ROM on there forever ago.
I really wouldn't go to gb yet. I just downgraded. Juan wait for the over the air.

Cynogenmod requires Bootloaders + Froyo + Speedmod, can i upgrade to cynogenmod form Bootloaders + gingerbread+ Speedmod ?
you need to be on froyo bootloders..
the issue here is the bootloders, there is a problem with the sd card using gingerbread bootloders.
so if you have froyo bootloders you wont have a problem but if you are on gingerbread ones will most likely have this problem.

Take a look at this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1089989.html
This is just a quick way to switch between bootloaders. Most people are downloading ~150MB to upgrade to downgrade there bootloaders. This is a small 7MB for GB & 8MB for froyo download to help you flash just your boot loaders.

9,188 users are running CM7 and another 3,489 are using MIUI..
Hope we find a dev to continue geno's work..
I'm "trying" to get a alpha cm9 build running, but first I need to fix the recovery, I have an issue with it restarting every 3 minutes (don't have a clue what does that). I'm porting the recovery to 2.3 beta.

I flashed a stock 3.2.1 ROM ( SD_Acer_A501_4.066.29_COM_GEN1.zip: ) from the stock ROM list in the a500 dev forum and I'm not receiving the ics 4.0.3 ota update. Can anyone confirm that this ROM will receive ics? I'd really like to go back to official stock for a while. Thanks.

You will have to run a 3.2 rom to get updates. The 501 3.2.1 was not a fully released update. We just happened to come across it on acers servers.
Omg finally an answer. Thank you. I've been asking on a few threads and no one knew. I'll have to hunt down a 3.2.

I installed an acer app from the market. It allowed for the ICS update.

That would probably be the Acer Update Enhancer. Might work. Never tried it on the 3.2.1. Acer never fully released the 3.2.1 into the wild. They focused on ICS. I'm not even aware if "any" 501 users got it. And it really wasn't an update, it was a full TMPL rom. So not really sure if Acer scheduled it for updating to ICS.
But as the guy above, try getting the Update enhancer from the market. See if it helps.
