Hello everyone,
I've been trying to get my U8800 working with this application: Viber Android Market Free
Making a call/Receiving a call, on the other side (other phone) they can't hear me. I guess it's my device that's not supported.
Does anyone here got this application working? It is very handy..
Thank you!
Use Skype instead? They're exactly the same.
Can't post links, too new
Hi,
I just bought my ideosX5 from TMN portugal and manged to install the Viber app and make/receive phone calls without any issues (over wifi).
Cheers
Thanks for both answers.
@Spammaren, I also have Skype. But wanted to try this app.
@timeslotPT, Mine was bought at Tmn too. Are you using a custom rom?
Sent from my X5 using XDA App
Which rom are you using? MIUI and CM7 have broken Voice recordding so this app will not work with either or these roms. There is possibly the same problem with Oxygen (Fairly sure it's not though). It will work with Void or any stock rom.

I am using void #eridanus and it's not working.. :S
I called an iPhone user with viber it works on the stock B137 ROM.
What is causing my problem is the modded ROM. Since it's not the original, something triggers and Viber doesn't work. Which is very odd. :S
Anyway, thanks for all the feedback.

I should inform you that void #eridanus does not have such an issue. I was using it on #eridanus without any errors. So I think your conclusion about Viber is not working because of void ROM is wrong.
Probably something had got corrupted and you needed to clear data or something.

Well, if it worked with you then I apologize for my precipitated conclusion.
Will try again and see if it works.
EDIT: With the new version, it still doesn't work. Well..I'm unlucky.
Thanks
Started using Miui, and tried the Viber app once again. Surprisingly, it doesn't work either.
Any thoughts to solve the problem?
Thank you
Maybe you can use the Viber-protocol with another client?
I'm using miui (latest) and viber without a problem, never heard a problem other than you. Did make titanium backup/restore or install it from market? Did you make a clean install of miui or upgrade a from an early release?
Sent from my u8800
I'm using viber since my htc wildfire days, and using it on ideos x5 on stock rom and the latest MIUI posted @ dev section and it works fine. It seems to "lock up" from time to time, but it's random.
Overall, it works good
Thanks for your answers.
I made a clean "install", made all wipes and factory reset.
I installed Viber from market, clean install too (no restores or anything like that).
This is really annoying, i would like to use this useful app with friends.

Hello!!
I'm a new user of Android and a couple of months ago I bought the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8.
THE CONTEXT:
I tried to upgrade my phone, rooting it and installing Android 2.3.7 (GingerXperiaV12) following a guide I found in youtube
After doing those steps yesterday, it worked fine.
I put to charge the battery all night, and this morning when I start the phone there was a message error telling about an error in Launcher Pro. I ignore it, and press continue so I don't remember very well what it said exactly (but it wasn't a long text, it pretty much said only that). Well, since the phone worked I didn't pay attention so I used WIFI and tried to install some apps like Skype, Barcode Reader or some Japanese Keyboard Input (like: google japanese input). The problem came when I tried to reboot the phone.
THE PROBLEM:
After pressing the center bottom and selecting "restart", the phone completly freezes when the text "Sony Ericsson" come out in the black screen. I can't access to the OS at all.
WHAT I HAVE TRIED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM:
I tried waiting several minutes and extract the battery to reboot and try again, but it still freezes when the "Sony Ericsson" come out.
I tried accesing to the xRecovery (which I installed in order to root the phone), pressing several times back botton, but it doesn't work either.
Please can someone give me a help with this? I have read somewhere I might try installing the launcher again. Do you think that is the solution? Is it possible?
Thanks for advance
hello my friend .. i dont know about ur problem but for me launcher pro really sux and i didnt like it at all .. if u want a good launcher then download (Go launcher EX) from market .. and yeah also if u want good roms , i mean the best for x8 u have to use GingerDX or nAa minicm7 2.1.7 , u will find these roms in the dev. section . if u want my opinion about them i prefer nAa cause it is very smooth and perfect dual touch here the link .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19691591
just follow the steps and read everythink and do it at ur own risk . welcome to the x8 forum and have a nice day .

Hello Acudor.
Thanks for the reply and for the recommendation.
Unfortunately until I don't solve this problem, my cellphone won't work to try that.
ok from what i understood from ur post is that u cant even access recovery and cant access the phone either right ? .. well that means the phone is bricked , and dont worry it happened to me 2 times before , well u can rescue ur phone , just go to this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12442257
follow the steps and ur phone will be back for u .. the reason for ur phone to brick was the rom u used my phone bricked when i used gingerxperia too , but now iam using nAa rom and kernel for 2 months now and never encountered a problem . dont worry again about the brick , it happens

Just use PC comapnion from SE and repair you phone....and after that root your phone again and install rom( for rooting and cwm the best tool is x8toolbox)
Ok
Thanks for the replies. Thanks god I could make it works!
Just a couple of notes:
1.- The only way to access to the Xperia x8 was via flashing it.
2.- PC Companion didn't work at all. Even when I could access to the phone via flash, at last PCC gave a error message saying that there weren't any update to install. It seems SE doesn't support this phone yet lol
3.- What worked efectively was Flashtool (second option in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12442257)
But the ROMs listed in step 2 of that guide (X8 Shakira E15i_2.1.1.A.0.6_generic.ftf, X8_1.6_clear.ftf, X8_2.0.2_China.ftf, SE x8_2.1_rus.ftf) didn't seems to work to me. So instead of those, I searched and put into the "firmware" folder of Flashtool this oficial ROM:
http://www.multiupload.com/VKNI6Q6ET5
that I found in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454954
What I'd like to ask now, just to not have the same problem again is, should I go for nAa for my Xperia X8?
I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350484
It seems difficult breaking bootloader for a noob like me though xDD
You can use GDX without any problem with stock kernel. So, its not mandatory to open bootloader but its recommended if you want to try CM9 based roms.
If you try to open bootloader, please go through the threads on xda and make sure that its safe to open it. Some phones are not safe to open and you may get your phone bricked. Please check the number behind your battery on the phone and make sure from xda if its safe. Also s1tool tells if its safe or not.
Hello!
Well, thanks for your support I could revive my phone!!! And now I could install the nAa ROM!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU!
If it's possible I'd like to ask the last question, I've tried to install from Market an application for writting japanese keyboard: Japanese IME Kaede v3
[http:]//es.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/japanese-ime-kaede-ime-v3_dvn(dot)html
But the Market say "This device is not compatible with this element"
Is it possible? I mean, the official firmware I was using before trying to install this custom ROM allowed me to use it without any problem.
Have you ever got a message like this? Have I got to do something?
Thanks again

Your problem wasn't the launcher it was that you did something wrong while installing it that caused you to brick it. Always remember to factory reset your phone before and after flashing a rom just to be safe and to avoid errors.
GingerXperia V12 is quite old, go for V19 or V21b those are quite alot faster and worked really good for me, they also come with the Sony arc launcher so that's good. You also don't need to unlock your bootloader for those roms.

Exploit reset Galaxy-smartphones via weblink or sms
http://youtu.be/Q2-0B04HPhs
http://www.ekoparty.org/2012/ravi-borgaonkar.php
I can confirm this is working on Resurrection Remix JB and Resurrection Remix ICS version (Well the test to view IMEI). Hopefully he can change the dialer to prevent this hack!
Tried with Chrome,Default and Dolphin Broswers
To check if the exploit works on your phone, just click on the link below
(This is a safe USSD code)
http://dylanreeve.com/phone.php
If the IMEI is displayed directly , then your phone is vulnerable and clicking a link with an unsafe embedded USSD code can potentially wipe your phone.
A workaround I'm using on LPX is to install another dialer and not set any default dialer , so I get a prompt to select a dialer instead of the USSD code executing automatically.

Yeah....I too installed Dialer one since it is one of the few dialers that requires you to press the call button after entering a USSD code to execute it

Might be useful to some of you who want to know if they're vulnerable as well. This site has background info regarding the Samsung USSD hack, some simple tests and how to disable it can be found on Wipe My Galaxy.
Luckily, my Galaxy Nexus is not vulnerable

I just come across this thread and glad I did, just a quick question... clicking on the link my phones dialler says "*#06#" and no imei number, does that mean my phone is safe or still vulnerable ?
Thanks..
I just use Opera and the hack doesn't work with it. So I'm happy with that and don't need to install another dialer.

here's an app that blocks auto-execution of USSD codes from all sources (i.e. QR-codes, iframes, sms etc), not only wap push as the previous poster's link recommends:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.gicode.android.autoresetblocker
Thanks...I prefer auto reset block over installing another dialer
I have also disabled service loading as a precaution against sms' which would execute a USSD code.To do this simply set Service loading to never in the Messaging app settings under Push Messaging settings or disable Push Messaging.

I assume you ran the test USSD code which shows your IMEI.
This would work on CM but I do not think that the format USSD code would work as that is included only in Samsung Touchwiz roms and maybe other oem roms.

Unfortunately the attack is VERY simple:
Code:
<iframe src="[URL]tel:*%2306%23[/URL]"></iframe>
where "%23" = "#"...
Here is an app (USSD Blocker) I developped to workaround this problem.
Play Store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.laucass.ussdblocker
Use avast mobile security!
After clicking on the URL, if you open it through avast! mobile security app, it automatically detects the harmful USSD code, and blocks it.
Hi, i found a problem in my defy that annoying me ...when making several phone calls or receiving ones suddenly a message appears that thers is a problem with telephony layer and the device has to reboot after 40 sec ...i`m tried to delete the programs that kill applications at expense of ram memory ...installed latest miui build and tried to call a free number about 30 times ..no hanging up happened..but the problem comes after several days of using defy and i tried this build for some hours...i`m very satisfied with Cherry Picks Un-official CM-7.2.0-RC0 when rebooting happens...is there something wrong about the device itself or about the cm7.2 build .or about the base band of the carrier or what? thanks

this problem has appeared lately ..after 1.5 year of having defy ...!!! there must be something new leads to this bug...i think ..it`s a software issue
the same froyo kernel 2.2.2 didn`t change..while the one is kept up to date with new builds of cm.7.2 when the problem appeared 2 months ago ..
yesterday i installed Pikachu Edition 2.Xz the bug disappeared ..when back to cm7.2 with the same trials of dialing the bug back again ..
what do u think?
This bug I think it's a hardware bug.
I installed many Rom's but no change. But you can try with the one that you think is not making you problems but for more than a day you should test it.
For me this bug sometimes(very rare) is not showing for a couple of weeks.

Trust me, none of this is working.
Wiping caches doesn't help I have wiped them from 10.2012 till now thousands of times.
Baseband change is working for a short period of time.
Changing SIM card not working as I have changed 3 times till now.

Even the stock Rom had three reboot problem the only difference is that is not showing you the message.

i too have just got this problem. i just got a 850/2100 asia retail defy+ mb526, that is distinct from my original 900/2100 europe model visually in that this new one has silver buttons, battery cover slide, and case screws.
anyway, never had the trouble in my old one, yet tried plenty of roms, this new one i dont know if it did it to begin with as i rooted it straight away, but since then ive tried cn & eu / rooted and not sbf's and cm version 7, 9 & 10 & various baseband options but always get the "telephony layer problem, will restart" every 10-20 mins or so.
however on cm9 it doesnt popup and ask to reboot, it just appears to restart the telephony layer, as you see it go off 3g, then show no signal, than reconnect back up again. so i will stick with this rom for now, as it means less down time rebooting.
out of curiosity is there any logs that can be read or generated that would mention the error ?
im sure this has been looked into though, still no solutions ?
Hi, XDA comunity!
Im having trouble using some Apps (Kritika, Princess Punt 2, Bleach Brave Souls, ...), they dont Open because they says taht im having some Hacking Tool or Malicious App... and... well, i havent (nor Root Acces)
I tried others miui and Non-miui like MOKEE and PAC-Rom, deleted SU and Root acces, all unused Apps, Formating... and nothing... Is there any Rom that dont show that problem?
PD: Im using Dior, the 4G one.
PD2: Im trying Pac-Rom atm, i'll edit the post if i have any news.
Damn, it seems taht the Pac-Rom fix the error, it Works perfectly! I only had to remover the Root and Bam! Works without problem.
The Miui Rom was the problem i guess.
Well, Thanks for the Rom XDA!
