Someone updated with ThinkPadTablet_A310_02_0039_0089_WE.zip?
Possible to keep root like with ThinkPadTablet_A310_02_0039_0086_WE.zip?
Just use otakeeper and you will be save
Have you tried?
It's the OTA of 22.02.2012.
yes have tried it
works great with OTA Keeper
but the 89 Update doesnt remove the SuperUser Apk so it will work without OTA Keeper.

Will there be a rooted ota for people who didn't install it or never got it. I rooted my phone and would like the better radio in hopes I will get more cell bars
There's already the option to root if you already applied the OTA update or are planning to.

i dont understand what u mean i have perm root without the ota. If i install the ota it will break root. Will i have to go thru the whole process again if i do this? I know on the mytouchslide when they came out with an ota they just rooted it so it wouldnt break the current root
i havent tried perm root yet. however search this site for 'visionary' root, which is all u really need for now. i had visionary root installed along with several root only apps (titanium backup, cachemate, setcpu, several others) and the OTA installed while my phone was rooted with absolutely no problems.
I installed the ota over the perm root and now I have no superuser permissions. When I try to run visionary it says my phone is already rooted yet I cannot run apps that require root or get the # in termal can anyone help with this
lol
the "#" denotes root access lol...... (coming from a marginal linux background..)

Have you tried reapplying s-off?
I am also interested in getting a solution because right before I rooted my phone I started getting ota update notifications for my phone and now I cant upgrade my phone but the notifications continue to persist. So I figure if I can get a rooted update or delete something, I can get rid of notifications.
ok i got it working what i did was do what somesaid in the begining and that was to follow the guide that doesnt use visionary for perm root. I think its call temp to perm root. I always had the s-off just not the perm root. everything is fine now
At least you were able to apply the update. I tried doing that and Clockworks Recovery halted it because some signature was verified or something.

I didnt use clockworks recover i used the orginal. It just made me loose root and not s-off so i used the temp-too-perm root to get it back because visionary was saying my phone was already rooted. I believe I was getting this cause i had rooted without the ota the first time. The second time i used the ota.ko Instead of the preota.ko because i used this when i didnt update to the ota on the first run.
Oh, okay. Thanks for that. I'm currently in the same boat you were in. I applied the OTA and it's reporting S-OFF, Visionary is saying I'm rooted, but certain things aren't working.
In the process of getting it fixed.
EDIT: Went through the same process you did and I'm all good to go. I was able to apply the OTA update after rooting it and then re-rooted it.
so how exactly did you root you perma root your phone again after ota.
i have perma root right now, its pre-ota, i do want to install ota though.. would i have to go back and do the manual perma-root with the "ota" files now instead of the other ones. im just confused and want to clear this up before i do anything stupid. thanks!
The newest OTA system update alert (4.5.621.en.US) just popped onto my VZW Droid2 today (current: 4.5.601.A955)--will rootkeeper allow me to keep root after this update?
I've read that RootKeeper does allow you to save root and is currently the only way to keep root with the new update.

So who's gonna try it and let us know?
RootKeeper Question and Help Needed
While I was working the OTA from Verizon was released and my wifes phone was updated and she has lost root. We both have the Droid 2, both rooted the same way and both at the same level before today. I do have a good backup of my root on my phone.
I'm curious where and what files I need to copy from my phone to my wifes phone to see if I can restore root from my backup.
Edit to add: the backup was done with Root Keeper.
All help is greatly appreciated.

While you're waiting for a reply, were you able to update your phone and keep your root with rootkeeper?
I'm not going to update my phone just yet. Once I know the location of the files and what files I need to copy over, I'll try fixing the other Droid 2 and see where that goes. I'm in no hurry to update just yet.

so I updated using the root keeper app, and I don't really recommend it. For some weird reason only certain apps retained their root privileges, actually the only one I can see that has is titanium backup. Also u can't install new apps that need root. It really blows in all honesty. I really hope someone figures this one out, not having root, or the option to put on another rom is such a pain in the ass.

I have tried, I think they patched the exploit used by motorola one click. If I'm wrong I would appreciate a link to what works.
Hello
I've read from 2 persons that they have lost root & CWM by applying ICS update.
Just want to know if it's possible to keep root & CWM by modifying ICS update script (or ICS is totally different from HC and current root/CWM are not compatible anymore)
Thanks
I could keep root by using voodoo root keeper. CWM is gone after the update. Reinstalling is possible but it will not boot. In the thinkpadtabletforum someone believes it is coming from changes in the bootloader.
I managed to keep root but not CWR. I havent tried reinstalling it yet as I had heard that the new bootloader wont load it.
I got root on V89 used rootkeeper to backup and then temp unroot and did the install. Then just used rootkeeper to reinstate it. Works fine for me.
To all - there is a post on thinkpadtabletforum that explains how some will be fine and some won't. Please heed instructions and info before upgrading.

ok, thanks for your replies !
So root don't seems to be a problem, but CWM is no more compatible.
Good to know !
I'm intrigued in rooting my Nexus 7, but I also love google's stock android, no extra bloatware and apps makes me a happy camper, and thats why I waited for a Nexus tablet in the first place. Here's my question:
Is it possible to root the Nexus 7, get superuser permissions, change DPI settings, etc.... while retaining stock android (no flashing or different roms) so that whenever an OTA gets released, the device still lets you install the updated without giving any problems?

Yeah, you can root and get su permissions without changing stock. You need to use this to get OTA and still keep root: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.otarootkeeper&hl=en
I'm not sure if the DPI would revert back to the original settings when updated, but it's something to try.
Also, if you remove any of the apk's under the system folders, you will not be able to update. The update checks to see if they are all there before it starts installing.
great..... do you think the device would still be rooted after an official OTA?
Don't see why not. You would need to run OTA root keeper again, to re enable root. If you read the description in play, it tells you that it temporarily disables root so that it hides it from the OTA update
Anyone actually try this yet? I had OTA Rootkeeper on my razr and it didn't work sometimes.

I haven't tried it yet. I let mine update before I rooted it.
Have head mixed reports on here, most say it works and some say it doesn't. You just have to take the chance.
If it does not save, its very easy to root again using a toolkit so it's not a big problem......
Wireless OTA update on rooted lemfo lem5 smart watch downloads the update but does not install it, says root found cannot update. Is there a way to flash the downloaded ota update via twrp? Also I am unable to find the location of the ota update. Where is it stored/downloaded?

Rooted with kingoroot, I am not very sure which app i used to root. Replaced it with supersu app and updated the binary. I found a way to install OTA updates with root using flashfire. It preserves the root after flashing and thus saves the effort and time to re root, although other root related stuff need to be redone especially after full system update. It's very good for incremental updates and good for full system update. The only issue is the flashfire app's display needs to be resized else is unusable. This is a bit pain but I was successfully able to do it. I realized that the recent ota update of 14.19mb dated 11/01/2017 is buggy and does not get installed. Anyone else found similar issue?
It also preserves the custom recovery after installation of updates.

Tried to resize the screen to 320X480?
That will create problems as the display will go off the screen and you might not be able to use. lem5 is 400x400 bigger numbers will reduce the display. Smaller numbers will make it bigger. If you want to experiment and acquire the required display, I suggest go in very small increments or decrement, its a trial and error method, don't change abruptly to a number of big difference. If you do so you will not be able to use the screen and will have to restore full backed up rom from pc. I think it would not be possible even to enter custom recovery as the key combinations of a smartphone probably don't work for watch. Also restoring only system might not do the job. Both data and system needs to be restored as both are changed by playing with the resolution. You have to have a full backup, a backup that can be restored with pc and also don't forget to set usb debugging if your pc backup software requires it before playing around, else there will be no way to do it from the watch. Miracle box software though does not require it for restore and backup.
