Hi,
i have a idiotic problem with my Touch HD. A couple a days ago some friend of mine spilled beer on the table and the back case of my HTC got wet (i desperately wiped it with a napkin). When i left the bar i wanted to call someone. Pressed as usual the on/off (standby) button to wake it up but nothing happened. So i removed the battery and i allowed it to dry overnight. Woke up and i tried to start it up...nothing. I plugged it up to the charger...nothing it's not even charging.
There is one thing happeneing though...if i keep the on/off button pressed for about 30 seconds, the phone will vibrate once ( like if it's starting) but the screen remains completely black.
I guess that the insides of the phone should be completely dry by now...
Please give me some advice
Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
My phone is completely dead. My phone ran down to about 5% battery last nite so I plugged it in to charge and thought nothing of it. When I got up this morning however the phone had not charged for some reason and the phone was totally dead. No lights were on and nothing happened when I tried a soft reset or the power button. I left it all day and then pressed the four buttons to do a hard reset and the screen came up saying to press the reset button to continue or any other button to carry on. I pressed one of the front buttons and the phone started to boot but then faded away to nothing before I could plug it in.
Now, nothing happens at all when I press the four buttons...Also the litle slide button to open the battery cover doesn't seem to work and the cover won't come off.
Does this sound like a battery problem? Or is the USB connector screwed, which would explain why it didn't charge?
I haven't done anything unusual with the phone recently or installed anything new...
Can anyone suggest anything?
sounds like your battery exploded....make every effort to remove it and insert a new one. my battery also began to swell somehow but i was able to remove it before it damaged the device...
Hope you get it fixed soon...
lol thanks! Just need to get the battery remove slider button working I guess...
today morning when i get up and try to check my sms'es..the phone is off.
i try to press the button on top but it doesnt turn on.
i plug in charging cable..it powers...but the OS never loads..and as 'windows 6.1' green window comes..the phone goes off again.
this happened 3 times.
i also removed and re-inserted battery...but still the same.
what is the problem?
It doesn't have enough charge.
Turn the phone off, charge it for a few hours (overnight preferably), then turn it back on.
If that doesn't work you might want to hard reset it (Hold left and right HW keys while turning the phone on then use the keyboard for the prompts).
This Thread deals with a very similar problem to the one you are experiancing.
thanks got it.
it is on now.
seems like the battery was totally dead.
It's funny how there is a topic about this in the front page full of responses and you ask in a new topic.
was panicky...was expecting this girl's sms.
be carefull next time before posting
So my G1 has died!! :
Battery was at 70%+
Took it out of my jacket and tried to open the screen but all i got was a black screen

plugged it in (AC and USB) but get no leds
left it plugged in overnight and tried again - no joy
left the battery out for 8 hours and tried again - no joy
Dont have spare battery to try - no T-mob stores here
twisted and shook it around - tried again but no good
pressed just about every combination of keys i could but its just plain
DEAD!! !
Got onto HTC and they went through everything again to no avail so they said to send it in
BUT... before i boxed it up i tried again twisting and turning and pressing and squeezing and Then.. all 4 lights at the bottom lit up
i pressed the power button - they all went off and i cant get anything to happen once again - cant repeat what i did
Anyone have any suggestions before i close the box up??
I miss my friend...
Close up the box and get a free one.....hopefully its still under warranty and you won't be out of pocket anything.
i too have just been through this
thank you t-mobile for a new one
your screen has died
Hey guys,
I have had this particular device for about a week... it is a replacement as my last one had a faulty cellular radio. So this is still under free replacement warranty - but I hope it doesn't need it.
Anyway, I was at the pool hall today, and the phone was working ok then one time I pulled it out of my pocket and it was dead... home button did nothing and the power button did nothing. But it had plenty of battery life left (60ish %).
About 10 minutes later I plugged it into the charger and after about 45 seconds it showed the battery charging and all was good. What could have happened?
I keep it in a case (TPU case) so I was guessing overheating but I wasn't really even using it. So I don't see how it could have been that hot.
Edit: also, when hitting the power button it doesn't go from full brightness to screen off and vice versa.... it has like a middle step of going dim first. Then off or on, my last device didn't do this... is it common?
Needless to say I am a little concerned.
Cheers!
Hi everyone,
a friend of mine's Nexus 4 has this strange behavior.
It went into water for about 1 second: unfortunately, she was working far from home and needed to keep the phone on for working reasons, I know and told her that the best would have been to switch it off and put in a bag of rice.
In any case, after few minutes where she was not able to listen to the people speaking, and the same on the other side (she was not listened), she kept the phone in a pocket and under the sun, and suddenly everything went fine: probably some water in the audio jack made the phone think the earplugs were plugged, and then this was fixed.
In the rest of the day everything was working, and we thought that, thanks to the hot day and the phone under the sun, the humidity has dried up.
At night when she came back home, she switched the phone off and put in the rice for the night.
The day after, she tried to switch the phone on, and nothing happend.
Screen black, no signals.
After reading something on the internet, she plugged the charger, and kept power+volume down buttons pushed: after some time, the red light appears, just one fast blink and then dark again.
So, we ordered a replacement battery (I have already substituted a Nexus 4 battery of another friend of mine), which arrived yesterday. I proceeded with the substitution, everything went fine (and I noticed that the internal water detectors are still perfect white, only the one in the sim tray is pink), but when I plugged the usb charger, again nothing happened. This time, holding power+volume down made the red light appear and stay solid, no blinking, no disappearing, until I unplug the phone, at that moment it disappears.
I let her charge the phone for the whole night, but still the same issue this morning.
What can the problem be?
It sounds strange to me that at first the phone worked and then it stopped at the first switch off (and I think that she powered off and on the phone right after the incident, and was still working) :-\
And I'm not able to understand the red light behavior...can someone help please?
Many many thanks :-[
