I have the same exact issue and I've been searching for days for a possible solution. I even read somewhere that flashing to the newest radio might help. I did that, but unfortunately that did not fix the problem. It is a real issue for me as I am constantly on conference calls. ICS would be perfect if this was fixed!
If anyone has a fix please please please advise on the solution...
Thanks...

if there will be a solution or a good workaround, please can someone post it ?
many thanks,
kobers

Try to delete Media folder from SD card. It breaked my incoming call ringtone to mute. It breaks a lot of stuff. Or at least clear phone data.

Maybe it sounds strange but I just wiped Dalvik Cache after flashing and it works for me (this solved all sound problems with ROM)!

Enter CWM. Select Advanced and then Wipe Dalvik Cache.
Make sure to backup all your data first (i.e. with CWM also).

There is patch to make the mute unmute work but it will supposedly stop you from calling 911. That's why it was not fixed.

Thanks, will try.
Install with bootloader ? and install zip file ?

Yes, you can also use root explorer to unzip and replace phone.apk, make to delete the phone.odex if you have and restart the phone.

Perfect now mute works

problem with calendar reminder

Hi,
I obtained XDA II recently and I noticed a problem. I am not sure if it a configuration problem. When I get meeting requests or appointments, they appear correctly but I never get the notification at all.
As per the user manual I have selected Remind me in → Settings → Personal tab → Sounds & Notifications and I have ticked all the options for reminder but I never get notifications.
on my PC Outlook 2000, I continue to get reminders.
Can you please help.

Make a Backup to SD card, HARD-reset the device and restore the backup. That should fix it...

No guarantee this will solve the problem ... some s/w makes this conflicts with the reminders and also the ROM version ... I had this problem with 1.66 and solved when I upgraded to 1.72. This shouldn't mean it's the only solution.

It fixed it for me, 2 - 3 times now...
Could be a software conflict, but my guess it's in some temp-file or in memory where the conflict is. Since a softreset doesn't and a hardreset + restore does seem to help in some cases.
A softreset isn't really off, a hardreset is. some parts are only fully initialised on full power off...
Anyway, it's an easy way to try and get sound back without losing anything

[21.01.2009] HTC-HD FIX on-screen-slide

This is a cab file of clean install + uninstall version of the official working:
HTC HD fix for on-screen-sliding on calling.
the official fix is an exe + checking some stuff. I disasm and looked into if there are some other hidden necc. informations in dll's. but nothing more is needed.
here my version is a "clean install cab"
Q&A:
Q:What is inside of this cab installer ?
A: There are only 2 dll's which will be copied to \windows.
The files are: "phcanhtc.dll" and "rilphone.dll".
-
Q: is uninstall possible ?
A: Yes, the uninstall only remove this 2 dll's and after reboot the original ROM files will be inplace.
have phun
cu camel
Camel,
Thanks for doing this cab file. I had a few problems with the official exe file. It would not install saying that it needed the correct version.
The original was not very good. I kept cutting off incoming calls. Hopefully all will now be well.
Regards,
Stefan
Thanks for the file. I tried it but it seems that i´m doing something wrong. I have installed and uninstalled the file but I still can´t install the hotfix for the display flicker. it says still that it is not the correct version.
Would it be possible for you, to teach me, how I can solve this problem step by step?
Sorry but I´m not so used with Windows mobile.
Many many thanks
I do apologise, but what does this actually fix?
Hi, it fixes the bug with the flicker title bar of the touch flo 3D where the network is shown.

No. It fixes the slow response to the slider for answering calls. Installed it yesterday and I personally have seen a great improvement in response.
Thanks for the work camro.
After installing the slider fix, does anyone get a delay in being able to hear the person on the other end after picking up - sort of 2-3 sec delay?

You may try to install the "Advanced Configuration Tool" from which you can change the default delay of 2-3 secs and make it less than 1.
If anyone else knows the registry key that defines this delay, please publish the information.

default ringtone

I was messing around to find the default ringtone for x8 (it rings whenever you don't have SD card present or you have USB cable attached)
but can't find it anywhere, any help ?
Try in /system/media/audio
no luck mate already tried that,
I easily found it using the search button!
See attachments, you have the notification sound too there
oh no, not this, i'm not talking about sony ericsson.ogg, well let me tell you what it sounds like :
Oh I'm sorry, didn't read the whole description
It must be one of these two.
no mate, I think you didn't check my attachment ! and the spooky thing is that I have deleted all files under system/media/audio/ringtones
I don't have any file there, but the ringtone still rings, try plugging your cellphone to a computer in USB mode, then call on your phone, you will get what I mean.
I don't think there are more SE sounds...Anyway I cant listen to your file and I don't have stock ROM (if it needs stock ROM)
ya i'm on stock, but it is really weird.. mate
What if you find a stock rom in a zip format and replace the folder containing those files?
Sent from my Xperia X8 using XDA app
well the point is , I just wanted to replace this default ringtone with my own, but can't find it anywhere at all

Contacts disappear problem .. Can anyone help ??

I have a very annoying problem. Sometimes after restart or power my phone off, all my contacts disappears (google contacts, facebook contacts and twitter contacts). I don't put contacts on phone.
I changed the sdcard and flashed the ROM again, but unfortunately the same thing happened and contacts also disappeared and google and facebook re-sync contact again. So, I believed that sdcard is not the problem.
This problem happened to me on several ROMs so I think it is not ROM dependent.
Is the problem on my device nand ?.
Can anyone suggests any thing to do to know what's the problem and how to fix it ?
.. Thanks in advance
i don't have the problem but my brother (also an hd2 owner) has it. no idea what's causing it!

I had similar issues, but this was with Widgets and applications dissapearing after reboot. I then changed my SDHC Card from a Class 4 to a Class 6, and issues is now fixed.
Maybe the same applies to you?

Phone no longer recognizes my custom notification, alarm and ringtone sounds

I noticed all of my notification sounds had switched to the factory default over the weekend. When attempting to change them to my custom sounds, they no longer show up as choices. I have verified the files are there (and playback) via the My Files app. There is no .nomedia file present in the directories either. Anyone have any idea what the cause of this is (and more importantly) the fix? Not looking forward to trying a factory reset.
Thanks!
Matt

there is a notifications folder at internal memory (local sd - /data/notifications) ... your files are there?
All of the files were there but they would not show up when I would try to change them. Went ahead and did a factory reset to fix the issue.
Thanks for trying to help though!

Spoke too soon. The problem was only temporarily fixed with a factory reset. I rebooted my phone this morning and once again, all of my custom ringtones are no longer being recognized.
Will keep trying things to figure this out...
Update:
Still not sure why files present in the Alarms, notifications and ringtones folders are showing up as options, BUT I was able to move those folders into another folder to get them to start working. Good enough for now.
