Does setting an alarm overnight cause a lot of battery drain??? plus i use "hide my text" app, also known as "invisible texts" app. Is that the reason for this battery drain even when the wifi is off and with 10 texts n no calls, my phone's battery goes down by 40% in 8hours....is that normal?? I have nexus s 9023.
In the "battery use" option it shows that the phone display is consuming 33%, I have auto-brightness ON, and 30seconds screen On time. and not using a live wallpaper.
Cell standby shows 10% battery usage. Auto n background sync is also off.
Currently it shows 7hours 1min 14s on84% battery.
the current android version is 2.3.6
also when i was using a task killer, it showed that new apps started up by themselves even when the wifi was off, every time i opened the app killer it would show a list of working app =S then i thought that the task killer might be causing the battery drain so i uninstalled it.
kindlyyy HELPPPP!!!
Better Battery Stats, search for the .apk in xda. It will likely reveal your mystery wakelock.

Hi all. Here's the thing. Yesterday i've charge my galaxy (up to about 90%) set up alarm for morning, and going to sleep. In morning my battery was empty, i don't have idea why, because i push power button to "sand-by" on my phone in that night. What's the deal? Stand-up time was about 7h - is there any fix for that, or maybe it's some kind of bug? Oh that was my first stand-by mode for so long time (phone is pretty brand new, about 3 days from purchase)
Few words about phone:
-i9000XXJF5
-no root, flash, and any modyfication
-in phone i have about 20 instaled apps, 4 widgets on
-no task killer
-about 3 days from purchase phone
-home screen set on LauncherPro
Any advise guys?
Sorry for my english.
There must be some app draining your battery. My SGS usually drops only 4% in battery percentage during the night (I turn of 3g at night using SwitchPro, and I'm on JM2).
Have you installed the latest Facebook for Android app? It drains battery a lot because it keeps the phone awake 100% of the time. Uninstall it, or at least Log out from within the app, so that your phone can sleep in idle mode.
Yes... the problems of Android... I use CPUMonitorMini to keep an eye if any apps go rogue and start hitting my CPU 100% and draining my battery dry.

No i don't have this app. Maybe the problem was autosynch option ON.
I have seen many posts about the poor battery life on the ADAM when in heavy/normal use. I have seen very bad battery drain just in standby/sleep on all the roms I have tested (Stock Newest build, edenx, and now CM7). SetCpu currently doesn't support profiles but I wonder if the processor still runs heavily even when in standby.
I should note that i usually turn off WIFI when not in use and also background data sync.
Pixel Qi Wifi.
As usual, after unplugging the device in the morning and not touching it for 8+ hours, it has about 50% battery left and battery history shows Phone Standby using all the battery. I guess these quirks will not be resolved until Honeycomb if ever.
Which do you mean "cell standby" or "phone idle"? I have the same model and the battery still drains more than expect overnight, but notas much as 50%. Did you apply a fix to remove cell standby?
Phone idle is what is reported. Here is a more specific example: on battery power for 10 hours today in standby with wifi off and background sync off and the battey is down to 55%. This is not a huge problem but I dont like to leave it on the charger constantly when not in use.
Kill the "phone Idle" <- that's really draining and if you don't use SIP on a WiFi only you can de-install phone and phoneprovider
2 other things you could try,
Install from the market:
"autokiller memory optimizer" and
"Juice defender"
They seem to help for me.
or use BEAST ROM 2.2. My ADAM batterie status is after 23 hours on 36%.
I have recently installed an AmeriCanAndroid on the SD card. My problem is that the it drains the battery really quickly. Last night it had 84% battery power and 10 hours later it had just 20%. I had the wifi turned off and also I have ticked the use only 2G option. I have even disabled the background data option. The widgets that I have are fancy widget for the weather and clock, a battery widget and two for calendar and to-do list. Is there anything I can do in order to prevent it from draining so much battery power when it is idle besides turning it off?

did you already checked your standby drain with current widget or something similar?
If not: download it form market and place a widget on your homescreen, now turn your screen off and wait for about 2 minutes (it refreshes every minute, but to ensure, you get the correct value, wait a bit longer than 1 min).
After waking up the phone, the value you see represents your standyby drain.
Normal value on nand build is 2-5ma...on sd build perhaps a bit higher.
In settings->phone info-> battery you can see which application drains the battery most.
If its a third party app, try uninstalling it.
You can check also with spare parts (also free) if a app prevents your phone to go fully to standby:
open spare parts->battery usageartial wake usage
A lot of people are saying that you dont need a task killer in android.
...but for me its important to know by myself which application is still in memory, and which not.
Using this task manager:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rhythm.hexise.task&feature=search_result
...For all third party apps that dont need to run in background I kill them on screen off.
All services/apps (e.g. alarm, profile switcher, launhcer, widgets etc.) and system apps I set to the ignore list: ensure, that you uncheckin settings to kill also the ignored apps.
sd build drain battery more than nand build ...but there's some tricks for sd builds to reduce the consumption ...
The graph with the battery usage shows that the gsm connection with the cell took 29% and the phone being idle - 28%. So my question is more like is there some way of putting the phone in a less power consumtion idle mode, because it's kinda annoying to go to sleep and wake up to see your phone is not switched on :/

sry, but there have to be an app, that acts not normal. Did you followed my tipp in the 2nd post?
..to prevent data/cell usage over night, you can go into airplane mode to save some battery. turning airplane mode on will save about >50% overnight.

try to flash the 2.12 ...some people report that it reduce the battery drain
ok... to save even more battery life. Get "Deep Sleep battery saver"
I have a smartphone connected 100% of the time to get all my notifications.
I only use my Note8 for reading and play. There is no reason it needs to be getting notifications of emails, texts, news, social media.. unless I wake it up to use.
after I did the battery disconnect tip. it went from 1.5hrs WAKE time to more than 5 hrs.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274678
but.. even when sleeping.. it would drain about 1-2% battery per hr sleeping.
android and system processes! and media updates.
so I found this app called: "Deep Sleep battery saver".
when the screen is off.. it turns everything off.. all connections.
allows NO updates.
you can set it up .. to wake up for 1 minute every hr.. or 2 hrs.. or 4 hrs. l selected "no waking up".
when the screen comes back on.. it lets the tablet get updates. normally there are none, because I have already taken care of them via the smartphone.
now the Note8 sleeps .. and only uses about 1% every 3 to 4 hrs.
I estimate about 10% per day lost if left alone sleeping.
I think if I left the tablet alone for a week.. it would still have a charge!

OK, doesn't setting airplane mode or disable sync with Wifi on when charging keep good battery run times. I don't use apps for power save, just config what is available to get great sleep power savings. When sleeping I can get 0% used in 19 hours.
that is what you would think.
but android tries to do things in the background.
it aint the apps..
android processes. eating time and battery.

i beg to differ... its all about apps. i try to run browser over using email apps. Many of the apps you get have analytics or some method to do background data. youtube, google music, weather, and briefing wil drain your battery, not Android.
to combat apps, use greenify... my main use for it is to keep my memory clean. having it save battery power was a bonus.
i agree.. generally.
my Note3 sleeps fine.. and does NOT abuse the battery while sleeping.
the Note8 does not sleep quietly. Now, with Deep Sleep.. it is great.
Hey guys...
Just here to say that I unplugged this phone at around 5 in the morning, and around 5 hours later its already down to 74%.
What did I do? Only about 10 minutes of mobile hotspot, a 2 minute phone call, and three text messages. The rest just idling...
1/4th of my battery life for just that?
What the heck?
Everything is disabled and the screen brightness is low... Whats the matter with this phone?
Looks like something is keeping your device awake.
Can you please add some screenshots of your battery graph?
In addition, you can try to boot into safe mode. If your problem is gone in safe mode, a third party app is interfering.
If you're rooted, try installing Wakelock detector or BBS (Better Battery Stats) and check out what is waking up your device.
If you use Gas Buddy, it was known to be causing massive bluetooth wakelocks. Either uninstall it or update it to the latest version.
Set your wifi to 2.4 ghz only. On 6.0 and 6.0.1, the 5 ghz band has been causing abnormal battery drain and keeping phones from entering doze mode. Here's the issue being reported: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=197460
If neither of these make a big improvement, you'll have to use your battery stats (and if rooted, use Better Battery Stats or Wakelock Detector) to specifically see what's keeping the phone awake. In either of these apps, filter the view by "Alarms" or "wakeup triggers" and you'll see what the heavy hitters are.
Be sure to go into Location>Settings and turn off wifi and bluetooth scanning.
Hi.the maps app isvuding WiFi and gps even though both are disabled and I'm not using it... Any ideas?
