Official HTC Sensation ICS Roms... - Desire HD General

Hi dudes.
Just read here, that the official Sensation ICS Roms have been released.
Will these be used to cook sense Roms for our beloved DHDs?
Greg.

[Q] ICS Sense port?

I noticed that the Sensation now has a leaked alpha HTC ICS ROM with Sense. I know that other ROMs have in the past been ported between HTC devices. Is there any chance the Sensation ROM could get ported over?
Marseillesw was trying last I heard. If he is making progress, its going to be tough. There are no ICS Sense kernels for our device, and according to TDJ, "Good luck. Sense kernels are a b****."

I was wondering the same thing. HTC pretties up stock "Vanilla" Andriod, but ICS looks pretty good as is. They'd have to bust out some serious magic to make me want it.

Yes but what I'm saying is there's already an HTC device with official Sense and ICS - it's not a final build but it's direct from HTC. So there is a source available.

HTC has been working hard to get its Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades ready, and we’re excited to announce that our first round of ICS upgrades will roll out by the end of March for the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XE, followed soon there after by the HTC Sensation XL.
In addition, we can confirm Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades will be coming later this year to the HTC Rezound, HTC Vivid, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD. Stay tuned for more updates on Ice Cream Sandwich releases in the coming weeks.

Given that they'll eventually bring the Desire S and Desire HD to ICS... at that point you'd probably be able to make a fully functional ICS port. I may be wrong but doesn't one of those phones even have the exact same camera hardware as Glacier? That'd provide us with a driver.
Mind you I have already moved on to GNex land
Seems cool. But looks like all of the good MT4G devs are gone now since I had the phone couple months ago.

Yeah, my port was a pain in the ass since at the moment we don't have a working 3.0 kernel. However once the official is out for dhd, porting the rom and kernel libs will be much easier. One the bright side, keep ur eyes open in the dev thread the next few days...can't say much more lol

The device Is very capable of handling ics just like nexus s.. I think its all revenue. Be it so your better off rooting and flashing ported ics Rom.and I think Febycv is doing a wonderful job.y Yes a lot of people are excited about ics. Its the latest android development release. So if you like android phones then you should be excited about its latest release.

Agree that its capable of running it. Can you imagine what ICS mysense will look like though?
Its a pity, the myTouch 4G seems to be even more capable than the Nexus S because of the 50% more memory... I myself am looking to switch from a Galaxy S series phone to the myTouch 4G because of the crazy amount of swapping going on because of the small amount of RAM...
The myTouch 4G is basically an HTC Sensation without the 2nd core, but with dual core mattering so little at the moment, it really does suck that the myTouch won't get an official update...

plus it'll be mysense too, so you're better off flashing a port. mysense is so bad IMO. I think sense is bad period.

But why ICS? Is it not possible for the more stable, Gingerbread version?
I have an LG P500 as well, about the same (or worse specs as Legend), and the ICS MIUI has been taken (theoretically) to the development limit. There are some barely fixable bugs and we need a miracle (on the scale of WiFi + NewSense on Legend) to fix 'em.

Isn't CM 7.1 already a stable Gingerbread rom out there already? How can you make it more stable?
What I mean is, why opt for developing MIUI ICS when the Gingerbread version can evidently be easier to work with and use?
I said "the" more, not "a" more. Sorry.

[Official]Android 4.0.4 with sense 3.6 for Desire S leaked!! Waiting for port!!

Virtuous team has released a rom based on Android 4.0.4 with sense 3.6 for Desire S test-key. Porting to DHD is possible now. With the similar hardware, porting should be perfect (camera fully working)!!

Looks like this leak is not useful for us. Kernel is Desire S specific and it doesn't boot. Also the base isn't worth porting, so it seems we have to wait for a leak or official firmware.Read down from this post
Great! now camera problem can be solved.
Well i have been on ICS for sometime now on my DHD and love it. People have been trying to get Sense to work but never get the Camera to function... I wish someone could get Sense 4 to work, i don't think i will flash a 3.6 Sense if there is still the pip dream of a 4 out there in the works. But hopefully with this they can fix the flaws in the broken Sense 4 Roms that we all are waiting for!

I think Sense 3.6 can be even better than 4. Don't know exactly, but it seems we can get nothing better than Sense 4 lite which doesn't have all the features of Sense 4. So I'd better use either AOSP or Sense 3.6

I'm using Dark JellyBelly, and I've found it works great. I don't see any significant problems with it. There are a couple of relativel minor ones, but nothing significant. You can read more here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716558
To get good call quality, you will need to flash the low-volume fix after you install DJB. That's easily done. It's found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24008900&postcount=531
The biggest issue I have with the ROM is that the wifi hotspot doesn't turn on from the stock control. You'll need to download Wifi Tether from the Play Market to make that work (and set it up as a Nexus One, FYI). If you can flash the volume fix, and work with that wifi issue, this ROM is excellent.
Good luck
-Dan
oh so you want stable? Stay on Gingerbread.
Sense: Android Revolution HD
AOSP: Cyanogenmod 7
you can't go wrong with these two ROMs, if you want stability with everything smooth and working, stay away from ICS or JB.
