I had someone try to break into a property that I own and they dropped their phone which happens to be a Samsung epic 4g obviously, my question is I wanted to find out who this person is by going through their phone but its password locked. Is there a way I can by pass the lock screen somehow without resetting the device?

You could get them clockworkmod 5 through odin, root them through it, then backup their phone, then flash a ROM and then you could go through there SD card for maybe some more evidence...
Sorry I can't post any links on how to, I'm in the middle of a class right now actually lol hopefully someone will be able to though. If they don't, ill be sure to later for most help on this stuff though you can just go to QBKING77 on youtube, he'll show you how to do all things on the Epic.
I'd take the ESN and call Sprint, tell them someone lost their phone and ask them to tell you the owner/address so you can return the phone. Then call the police and give them the info. Or just get the police involved now. Playing detective can be fun and all, but its almost always best to just contact the cops and let them handle it.
However, academically:
If you want to read the contents of the SD Card, just remove it an put it in a card reader...lol.
Now if you wanted to actually get into "their stuff" e.g. e-mail, sms. You'd need to do some more work as noted above. I think you could make a backup of their data in CWM and then purchase titanium backup pro to restore app+data or data only of their info.
Yup odin cm5 then back up, advanced restore data. Bingo

isn't there an ADB command to unlock the screen? I wonder if it still works if it is a password protected lock screen.

World of Warcraft Android Authenticator problem
Yes, I made the mistake I never thought I would. I installed the Authenticator on my old Eclair ROM and attached it to my account. I flashed and brought my phone up to speed with DK28 and the Froyoness must have gone to my head because I forgot that I should've disattached the Authenticator first. I am now unable to log in to my Battle.net or WoW account. I am also waiting till Mammon pushes out the latest version of his ROM before I redownload the authenticator. Can I just redownload it to my phone again ? Or will I have to contact Blizzard about this ? Any help is appreciated thanx !
Contact blizz. Its not hard. I wiped my phone once without thinking about my authenticator and almost missed a lk raid rofl

Definitely call them, it will get fixed in 15 minutes vs weeks via email. Just tell them you had to do a hard reset on your phone and forgot to disable the authenticator first. Make sure you have one of your cd keys so they can make sure its realy your account. I didn't and they were still able to authenticate that I owned the account through my payment info and a discription of some of my main characters so it definitely best to call them

This is half the reason I reason I make cw backups lol. Not sure where blizzard stores the esn of the authenticator but titanium doesn't store it.

Was this after a full data wipe? Because it has been confirmed that titanium doesn't store the esn for the authenticator. It is stored elsewhere in the system data.

Yeah, I just did it yesterday updating to the latest Nebula ROM. 3x wipe of data/cache/dalvik. I even did it a few weeks back on a freshly rooted new phone when my original was replaced for bad battery contacts.
I just download the app again from the market then restore data only from Titanium.
I would recommend keeping the serial number somewhere else safe though. From experience when I had the key fob authenticator, Blizzard is easier to deal with when you can give them the number.

Calling is definitely faster. I've managed to recover my account twice when flashing a ROM and forgetting that it would wipe out the authenticator. Just try and remember to remove it manually next time, saves so much hassle.
Call them though, email is not effective
If I need to swap out my retail 10.1 can I load a Nandroid backup from the original one on it (after installing CWM)?
I think you can. Haven't tried it myself but I don't see why not.
I thought maybe there was some kind a special "key" for each one and since the nandroid is an image it might be a problem.
DONT DO IT! I had a nandroid of my Incredible on a SD CARD, phone broke so I loaded it onto a new one and BRICKED the new one!
If the hardware is the same then yes. I've shared nandroids between a bunch of nexus ones and nexus s with no problem.

Our rom was not locked due to safety issues. It is perfectly fine to.flash.
I never accepted donations... I don't do it for money... and it is a pain to find and put all of that together with no issues manually if someone didn't put it in a 'rom'. There are alot if other rom development that do the same thing. I didn't bring any 'wonders' to the epic. People like the people you listed. I didn't know the kernel was part of a payed rom and neither did b-reezy. Someone else (unnamed) sent us a link to the rom without informing us it was donate ware. On a side fact, requiring money of a firmware based on a free os by Samsung and Google without proper permission would be illigal and since it is just a modified Samsung kernel without permissions to require money for the rom that contains it, it is technically free. But it wasnt do to anything about being donate-ware, it was due to with it cantaining a part of bonsai. Stop spamming the thread with this crap. I won't switch to a different kernel until ext4 is made by someone other than bonsai... Hopefully that clarifies it all.

I was trying to surprise my wife with a new ROM and I accidentally put the wrong one in and now there's no network service on her GSM Nexus S 4G! I'm trying for hours to get this to work before she wakes up tomorrow and realizes its not working for her meeting. Please if anyone can help...i'll be up all night.
I've tried everything from full wipe to restoring back to GRJ22 ROM/ Pushing the radio via fastboot keeps saying failed. Help please guys.
GSM nexus 4G?
Yes and it's by Samsung. I can't find a radio to flash anywhere. Can you help, please?
Is this on Sprint or AT&T?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA Premium App
It is on ATT i've searched all over the forums and decided to just post just now.
please read what you are flashing. i dont know anything about the att version so i cant say for sure if the other radios work fine. but for one its not a 4g, so DONT use the 4g stuff. the only 4g version of the nexus s is on sprint.
you need a gsm radio, perhaps try flashing one from teh nexus s forums?
I will try that...are there any you could recommend...like a compilation list?
Anyways...thanks so much for the quick assist. I haven't gotten anything to work yet but i'm going to try to search around the NS section.
I haven't seen any att radios floating around anywhere.
I had similar problem ... thankfully I had backed up efs folder ... if u have try restoring it... and then reboot

If your EFS folder is deleted/invalid you're out of luck, no fix for that.
Besides that, there's no working 3G radio for a Sprint NxS 4G on AT&T, it's technically not possible.

Can send in to Samsung, they might recover it for you (although the identifaction number is non-existant), but double check w/ them first.
guys hes not looking for a sprint gsm radio on atts blah blah blah. he has the i9020a. its att's model, its just a slight mix up on the 4g part.
you may have not lost your efs folder. you may have only just flashed a cdma radio thinking that was your radio. try flashing one of these and see if it works again

First things first. Check your imei and make sure its the same as the one on the back or your phone under the battery. If it is your efs is fine.
After reading the replies to this I am a bit disappointed. Where did he say he even touched his efs and/or his imei was corrupt. All the OP said was he flashed a rom and he no longer has connection. That could be a lot of things.

That doesn't say that he wiped it at all. He's just assuming what you said was the actual problem. And said he didn't back them up. Where did he say his imei was screwed up and how did you begin to assume that was his problem? You should have asked the OP to check his imei before you told him there was no solution.

Hello everyone, I have a question about something. First I'll start with this, I rooted my phone (GS4) and I screwed around too much. Long story short I deleted my recovery by accident so people on xda told me to take it to Best Buy. I took it there and they hooked me up I said "Kies broke my phone" and I think they bought it, but anyway the woman at the desk hooked my phone up to the computer, put my phone in Odin download mode and installed something. She fixed my phone, recovery is all good, got rid of root and got all the bloatware back, but my phone was fixed and none of my stuff was missing. How? What was the program they used? I was going to ask what she did but I was short on time. Does anyone have a clue so I can get my hands on this in case it happens again? If anyone knows and could tell me I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you!
PS. I think I posted this in the right forum. Hope so.
