Ever since I wiped, reloaded EL30 and restored my phone after updating it from EI22 to EL30, I can't get a 4G lock to save my life. I tap the button and it just stays half-lit forever. If I got into the menu system settings and go into the 4G section, it shows it connecting, but never FULLY connected. This is only happened since my "upgrade" to EL30.
Any ideas?

Odin in the full EL30 tar without restoring any data and see if it works. Had a similiar problem that turned out to be corrupted wiMax data. Last nandroid had it too.

That would mean wiping everything again. Is there a way to fix corrupted WiMax data without wiping the whole unit back to stock?

If you have a backup saved from when it last worked you can restore that.

I have a nandroid from before the el30 update. How do I restore just the wimax portion? I have a full purchased copy of titanium backup w/root access.

I have not tried this and don't know if it will work but Titanium backup allows you to restore from a nandroid. There are a bunch of wimax files. You can attempt to restore everything WiMax.
I had some problems getting 4g the other day. I chalk it up to the airave. Restarted my phone out of range of that thing and haven't had a problem since.

Wierd, it is not supposed to affect 4G at all. It is only a 3G and cell femtocell.

I just recieved the T-Mobile update an hour and my phone is stuck on the vibrant screen. It was rooted and practically deleted almost every stock app that came with the phone. Is the update still installing or is my phone bricked for good?

Barring that if you're leery to use Odin, call TMO.
Will any of those methods restore my phone without losing any information on it?

You could try making a Nandroid and then restoring only the data portion.
It all depends on what the OTA update did to your phone.
Well I'm stuck on the Vibrant Logo screen. Can you tell me how to do that? just restore the data portion?

I had the same problem. I had OCLF on my phone and I had un-lag-fixed and unrooted with it in anticipation of the JI6 update. When I ran the OTA, it bricked my phone anyway. I had to use Odin to get back to stock and that sounds like what you need to do too.
When I Odin'd back to stock, I still had all my videos, photos, and a bunch of files and stuff for apps, but I still needed to reinstall all the apps and redo all the settings/configurations.
oh man cause I used AK Notepad and basically my life is on that. Will those be erased too? and texts?

Odin from stock wipes out the existing applications (and replaces all the bloatware too), so they needed to be reinstalled. Once reinstalled from Market, and reinstalling Titanium Backup, I was able to restore from the /sdcard the backups I had made previously.
There was some work involved with getting the system back to what I had, but I didn't lose any data.

Where are the AKNotepad notes kept? so i can use adb pull to grab them.
I'm back to stock and it didn't erase any if my pictures, music, files, etc. but since I received the update already back when I was rooted, does that mean I won't be getting the update at all anymore? Or do I have to wait again for another roll-out?

How you get back to stock? without losing all those data?
Are you guys just really impatient or something with the update. Mine stayed on the Vibrant screen for a while, but I just let it go and it worked out just fine. Mine was rooted and with the Ryan Lag fix.
I guess there is always the possibility that individual experiences can differ.

I followed the instructions on another website. I tried the one they gave me here but it didn't work for me.
Type the following on the Google search bar:
Cyanogenmod how to recover soft brick
It should be the first link there and should look something like this:
[HOWTO] Recover from a"soft brick" on your Vibrant
I can't post link because I'm new here. Hope it helps.

Keep in mind that I didn't have AK Notepad so I don't know if they get deleted. If I were you I'd back up all the notes; e-mail them to yourself or something.

I was just wondering if there is a a way to back up my phones current launcher settings so when I do a full wipe to a new ROM I can EASILY get my phone back to normal without having to reinstall all apps. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Im running on rooted Epic Experience 1.2.04, mixup kernal(not newest update), and Emotionless Beast theme.

I believe they are talking about booting into CWM and there is an option to make a backup. So flash your rom and then restore with your backup.
yup, "nandroid" backup is the backup option within clockwork recovery, its a full backup of your phone. flash a new rom, then boot to clockwork and do backup and restore > advanced > select your backup > restore data. voila
Thanks for the replies. I wish I had realized this 2 months ago when I started flashing ROMS, I could've had an extra 20hrs to my life.lol I always backup thru clockwork, just never checked under advanced restore.

If I do an advanced nandroid restore, which option will restore text messages? Somehow, my TiBackup isn't restoring messages.
I think it would be user data try that out and se where it gets you but itwill restore all apps you had too and it could make you have tons of force closes if the rom your running doesn't like somethin

Yeah thats why i usually dont even do full ti backup restores, bc of the FCs. Ill try and see what happens.

First off, Kaoscinate V5 is in a very early stage, and you should not expect everything to work. Wifi is one of those things. That is one of the things that is not yet supported, so I am not surprised that Wifi didnt work in it. I would go install Adrenalynes Fix All DI01, then the EB01 Modem, EB01 rom, etc...
I knew it would be buggy, I have never tested a newer rom before and did not realize the issues can move from rom to rom when restoring.

Yeah, it kinda sucks, but just get you a good healthy backup, then a good titanium backup. Then worst case you can odin and be right back where you were in twenty minutes. Worth it for me to be able to try out all this cool new stuff.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I will have to do that, I keep titanium up to date. I am going to play with just rom some more I will just have to have a process to recover faster if it happenes again. Thanks for the input.

So I updated to GB3 a few days ago and excitedly checked *#*#4636#*#* to see if HSUPA was turned on in my area yet. Sadly it still had only HSDPA. Today my wife did the OTA and she is on HSPA here and I am not. So even though I am showing android 2.2.2 and on the 1.8.3 software I didn't get the radio change.
Should I SBF back, do the OTA then reinstall GB? Would I lose tenfars in an sbf reload?
Long time lurker, first time poster. Thank you to all the devs out there who put in the work for these silly little machines.

Flash 4.1.26 sbf, then update to 4.1.57 through Moto, then update to 4.1.83 OTA.
Root with Gingerbreak (will probably wipe your internal SDcard), Gladenable to enable sideloading, install CWM Recovery, flash kennethpenn's deodexed 4.1.83, root again with Gingerbreak (root lost when installing deodexed files).
Yea. I reboot a few times. Speeds are still low. I was also hoping to avoid the whole wipe/reload. Oh well.
Next question. My friend on Verizon has his apps synced to his gmail account, any time he has to reload his apps auto download. When I reload I always have to redownload everything. Any ideas on that?

Your friend is probably rocking a cyanogen ROM. We can't use it with the Atrix so you're better off getting titanium backup pro and using it to back up your apps and data to your external SD card. Then you can batch restore all your apps and data.
