My tab won't power on! - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

Background:
After I open adb WiFi in the app drawer 20 minutes ago, the whole screen froze. All what I got is a black screen with the task bar. But I couldn't click on the task bar. It seemed the whole screen was frozen, not only the app.
I waited for about 3 minutes but nothing happened. So I hold down the power button for 10 seconds to do a force shutdown. I did this many times before and was able to power on immediately after that. But this time my tab will not boot. I can't even enter Download & Recovery selection screen.
I've also tried connecting it to the charger. Nothing happened either.
Now what should I do?

Finally got it boot up. But this time the system is stuck at the initial "Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1" screen, with 2 lines of red tiny words:
ReadPartition_odin: Error to NvStorMgrFileWrite![err:0x30001]
Check_OTA_MAGIC: Error to ReadPartition_odin![err:0x30001]

After some retries, I managed to enter the download mode. Now what should I do?

If it is a wifi tab flash your stock firmware through odin following the unroot instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474971
That thread has a link to the US firmware, but if you need firmware for another country check sammobile.com

I was just thinking this was gonna be a case for the battery drain that is often suggested but not needed many times.
If you can read this it was sent using my GT-P7510.

It was too late after I post this thread. So I shut the tab down from the download mode. But the next morning I was unable to turn it back on. I noticed when I long pressed the power button, the flash LED was flashing (for a very short time) every 5 seconds.
I've flahed the Task rom. Don't know whether Samsung will accept my tab.

Samsung will apparently accept your tab, but once the tech notices the root and custom ROM you'll probably get a call asking you if you like to pay to have it fixed or not since rooting it voided your warranty.
See if you can manage to get back into download mode. If you can, then find the overcome ROM thread goto their outside linked guide and follow the restock yer device instructions towards the bottom of the guide. Make sure you triple check that you do not skip ANY steps. (personal experience).
If you can't get to download mode find Misledz guide on here for the battery drain thread and do exactly like it says.
If you don't mind voiding your warranty, or paying, just send it to Samsung as is. You might get lucky and they just fix it no questions asked, but don't count on it.
best of luck mate.
keep us updated on what and how you get fixed.

LOL I like how even when I'm not here, someone's speaks my blasphemous words "Battery Drain Fix"
Also, isn't this supposed to be support related?

Was out of ideas so finally tried sending it to the local Samsung customer service center. Luckily, they could not fix it either. They said it might be the mainboard's fault.
At first they said they needed to check the other half of the serial code shown in the ROM (the other half is printed inside the tab). But they failed to boot the tab. So they replaced the broken mainboard. This afternoon I received a call from them saying that the tab was ready. I'll go and fetch it tomorrow morning.

Good news! Hope you have good luck with the repaired tab.

Stuck at "Phone ! Computer" screen, cant get to recovery/download mode

So yesterday my Kies said there was a new firmware for my SGS, and after backing up my data with kies, i started updating it. The update got stuck at 71% for 2 hours, so i decided to disconnect the cable and recover the phone afterwards. But i cant get to connection mode or download mode, I've read lots of threads in this forum, tried many combinations, tried to release power when the icon disappears, but nothing... The image with the phone, triangle and computer appears all the time, and i haven't seen anything other than this.
Also, my computer doesn't recognize the phone when connected since i tried to update the firmware.. I have also tried with Odin, but i got the same result.
So, anyone can help me? I won this phone in a christmas contest, and they haven't delivery the warranty yet, so im kinda stuck.
thanks for your time reading this.
You could try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
Read the sticky topic about JIG/JTAG.
GL.
Hum, i was trying to avoid that method, but i guess i will give it a try later. First i will try to get my warranty.

The same thing happened to me a month or so ago, I managed to get it in to download mode by removing the battery, putting it back in and being very quick with my fingers to get it in to download then flashed with odin.
You backed up your data did you back up your original rom by any chance ??

Remove your battery for 10 min. then try again if u hadn't solved 3 button combination before

As Samsung broke the phone i would take it to a Samsung service centre before getting involved in warranty breaking flashing .

very good point.
If you want to fix it yourself the mentioned battery pull will probably work.
(pull the battery out, wait a few seconds, put it back in, voldown-home-power and you should be in download)
I had a similar problem some time ago (Phone ! PC screen)... I disconnected the battery for half a day came home from uni and put the battery into the phone, while holding ALL (hard) buttons at the same time... then, download mode actually went through

Ok guys, thanks for the support. I will keep trying, and if it fails, i will get my warranty and go to samsung.
Get ur phone into a black screen no icon so basically completely off then hold the download mode 3 button combo u phone should then turn on in download mode
To sumerise
Use the download combo to turn on ur phone basically its how I got my butt saved when I first got this icon thing
I only had the phone a week so I was very happy to save it

If you remove the battery for some time(10 min.) and you still can't access download-mode then Sbl on your device has been corrupted while kies did flash the ROM, take it to a samsung service center and get it fixed.
You probably have done this but ensure your usb cable is REMOVED until you get the download mode working.
Personally I'd use the jig. As soon as you have that jig built you can have your phopne working again (and updated) in less than 30mins. Who knows how long it will take the service centre to fix it.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Y PROBLEM!

Good day to all!
I am experiencing a problem with my Samsung Galaxy Y and I badly need your help. This is what happened.
This morning my phone shutdown and kept on opening only until the Samsung Galaxy Y logo. So what I did was removed the battery and put it back again. At around 12 o'clock, I kept doing the same procedure and my phone opened. I was able to send messages to my friends. After 30 minutes, my phone died again. AFTER THAT INCIDENT, THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN IT IS BY REMOVING THE BATTERY, AND BY PUTTING IT BACK AGAIN, IT BOOTS UP TO THE SAMSUNG GALAXY Y LOGO ONLY! then it turns off. In order for it to open again, I'll have to remove the battery then back again. But it keeps on dying. It only reaches the Samsung Galaxy Y logo for around 5 seconds.
I tried putting it on Download Mode, but after 5 seconds it dies again.
Thank you,
Hoping for you replies, ASAP!

Yes. And rooted phone= warranty exploited. So, as far as you have a stock rom( non rooted) you're good to go.
Just tell them you tried to update using kies and it got stuck.

I'm not using SGY's stock rom. I'm using Hyperion 8. What will they do to me if they found out that my phone is rooted?
If they find out and your phone's under warranty then they will not consider the warranty. Since you can't flash the stock rom just tell them that your phone got stuck in between the process of updating the firmware via kies. They will try to flash the stock rom via other methods and i guess then they won't know. I'm not really sure but am telling of what all I've read on online forums.
Good day fellow XDA developers and members.
I got an update with my phone. I think the power button got stuck. Why?
1.) I can access download mode with just pressing Volume down + home button
- *it boots in Download mode but closes after 5 seconds*
2.) Once it boots into the Samsung Galaxy Y Logo it closes after 4 or 5 seconds.
- I think that can only be triggered if you are still holding the power button.
3.) Every time I insert the battery, my phone turns on by itself BUT only until the Samsung Galaxy Y logo then it shuts down.
What do you guys think? As far as I know, you can't access download mode with just volume down + home button.
Thank you for your support! PLEASE KEEP ON HELPING ME! STAY TUNED FOR MORE DETAILS!

Won't start up help needed

Okay about two weeks ago I updated to 4.4.2 from 4.2.2(I think that's the one?) on my s4 and I've hated the update. I decided to root my phone using muniz method and it worked perfectly. I even changed to the nc1.
So, after using my phone without issues for two weeks roughly I noticed last night it started to randomly turn off while texting. It would just auto restart but it happened every 5-10 minutes. After an hour it started happening more often so I plugged my phone in. Now my phone will not even turn on. When I insert the battery the samsung start screen appears for about a second and then goes black. I have to pull out the battery for the phone to do ANYTHING. If the phone is plugged in while trying this and I insert the battery I literately get NOTHING. No samsung screen or anything.
Things I've tried.
Swapped the battery.
boot into odin
boot into safemode
plugged it in while trying to boot
Swapped the usb cord
taken out sim card
Some things to note is that I did not install any new app before this had happened. It was working the same for about two weeks with no issues.
When plugging in my phone to charge or anything I never get an led light at the top of my phone.
I seriously need some help with this. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Yeah using stock wall charger from a wall, computer, and even a different charger.
Is download mode the one where you hold vol down + power + home?
If so it brings up the screen that asks you to press the volume up but it dies before it can ever make it to the downloading screen...

I couldn't do factory reset because the phone wouldn't stay on long enough to do ANYTHING.
So as an update to this...
I was on my way to the closest store with samsung experience which is about an hour away from me and when I almost get there my phone RANDOMLY turns on...
I couldn't be more pissed and happy at the same time. So, obviously I try messing with it a bit and it shuts off again. This time I can get it to turn on after about 15 tries. Long enough for me to do a factory reset!
It lasted a good 30 minutes to an hour and it shut off again.
Hardware issue or is anyone else having this issue with 4.4.2 nc1?

Okay so I brought it by best buy and the guys couldn't flash it or do anything to it because it wouldn't turn on at all. They tried several batteries etc.
So, I decided to try the phone doctors and the guy thought it could be a malfunction in the power button because the phone tries to boot up any time you put the battery in. You don't have to hit any buttons and you can't insert the battery without it trying to power on.
I'll cross my fingers that's the problem and they phone doctor guy told me he has never seen this issue with an s4 but it was really common in s3's.
I go back in two hours to see if they have fixed it!

I've been informed my phone might still be under factory warranty. Just out of speculation, if you root your phone and it ends up malfunctioning what would they do if you send it in for warranty? I'm not sure if my issue is hardware or software related at all.

[Q] GT-i9500 stuck on boot loop. goes into download mode but reboots. no recoveryu

Hey,
I've searched this forum on others but haven't found anyone who've had my problem.
I have an original GT-i9500 purchased a little over a year ago around the launch. The phone was rooted and had a custom ROM installed. (Crash ROM). I have installed the ROM about 3 months ago, and haven't fiddled with it recently. I've had CWM installed.
Yesterday I've noticed that the device went into boot loop all of the sudden. I haven't done anything unusual when it started boot looping.
I can see the Samsung logo for a couple of seconds, but then the screen turns off and the logo comes again. Loop. Trying to enter recovery mod (CWM) doesn't work. Phone keeps looping. Trying to access download mode does work partially. I can get to the screen where it says "Warning!!" and asks to click "volume up" to continue. But stays on that screen for a few seconds and then boots to the logo again. Happens whether I click "volume up" or don't.
I have no idea what caused this. But shortly before it started I did see that an app that uses wanam was updated (bubble UPNP) and there was some notification about it from wanam.
any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
You have eaither a malfuntioning power button, a faulty battery or some other hardware failure.
This is not a software problem.

I have exactly the same issue, tried plug in power supply, shows an empty battery icon with circle in the center, stays for a few seconds and screen goes blank. It repeat this process if i keep it plugged to the power supply.
Just an update in case anyone ever finds this thread and is experiencing the same symptoms. It was indeed a faulty power button. Having it replaced has solved the problem.
It was apparently stuck on "pressed" mode (not physically, i would've noticed that). Another indication for that was that putting in a battery would automatically turn the phone on.
i know it was before a few months back,
but anyway... i got the same issue too, but my phone was on stock rom without root.

I've got my phone back from the repair service and it was indeed a failure of the power button electric circuit,
(i don't know exactly how to translate it correctly to English, but they say something about secondary electric circuit board)
anyway, it been replaced and the phone came back to live again
I got it fixed today..
I think it should be added as a major cause for bootloop, if you cant open recovery or go to download mode
at first i thought my phone was bricked but then after some hard searching i found out this thread and proceeded accordingly..
I opened up at the phone and checked the power button myself with my instruments.. then i took it to repair center and told them to replace the power button... simple as that.. cost me 9$

Thanks for the clarification! My S4 has been doing that for a while now- think I'll take it to the repair center and get it checked out.
I have same problem

[Q] S4 wont turn on

Well mine S4 turned of last night it freezed and it turned off. I'm on Broodroms Pre Final 4.4.4. After that it turned on and shows only the S4 splash screen and then it turns off again and it won't turn on. After i pulled out the battery and placed it back then it boots but then again it shows only the S4 splash screen and then it turns off again. I've read some things on the internet that it maybe can be a dead battery that is causing this problem. Or maybe it is an another problem maybe that you XDA members can help me it would be great :fingers-crossed:

If u can boot to recovery, flash your stock official rom. Should be fixed after that.
Or you can also flash your official rom in Odin.

Is your phone charged? The very basic question.
Put it on charging for a while try getting in the download mode then.
If still no succes..then there is a way too...

That happened to me once and reason was because the phone was not charging (even if USB has power supplied).
To solve this, I first removed it from the samsung charger and charged it using a laptop or computer for approximately 10 minutes.
That will get it charging

try booting into download mode if at all possible and try flashing a stock ROM via odin!!
hit Thanks if it helped!!
I've tried to connect it to my laptop but it won't charge unfortunately. I'm also not possible to get it in to download mode it shutdown after a few seconds. And it wil only turn on If I remove the battery and replace it the phone will vibrate, show the Galaxy S4 splash screen for a second or two, then it turns off again. Searching on the internet people say that it's a faulty battery so i could try that method and if that is not working i think it's something with the mainbord (i hope not)

Change the battery AND/OR
Try a USB JIG then. The final thing that can be done. Heard it works with i9500 too.
Buy yourself a USB JIG from ebay or something and try getting in the download mode. It costs less than INR200.
Thank me if I helped

Yes i will buy a new battery and try to turn it on again, And otherwise i'm going to use my mates S4 to flash a stock ROM onto it by placing my mainbord in that S4
Well i've received my new battery and tried it but the same result so i don't know what could be the next problem maybe you people have got some other ideas what the problem could be? (hope so)
I've made a video of the problem. Don't mind the screen it's broken for half a year so far and the phone was still functional. Last sunday this problem appeared and i don't know what to do so far...
