Hi
1st of, I've been using XDA for years, but as a Android user. Now, a friend came to me at work and asked if i could root and update his HTC, while he knew I was able to help. But when I saw the phone I could quickly tell that this was not a HTC Desire HD as he thought, as of it came with dual boot. It did have Android on it though, but obviuos that part is already rooted
Now - my Q is. He wants WP7/WP7.5 on it + Android ICS. Is it true that I need to partition the SD card so both installs is located on the SD card? So it will have both 6.5 + WP7 + ICS?
Also how much do the installs take up of space? (recommended sd card size)
part of what you understood is wrong.you can only have EITHER wm6.5(internal memory) + android(sd card) OR wp7.5(internal) + android(sd card).neither of the Windows run from sd card, but only from the NAND memory.
the other part that you got ALMOST right was that you have to partition your sd card.that in case you wanted dual boot wp7.5 + android, because wp7 uses the card as its memory.now you need to search the ''BACK TO THE FUTURE'' rom and read all about dual booting.if you wanted to dual boot wm6.5 and android, you do not need to partition your sd card.
hope this helped
you can use any WP7 ROM for dual boot but i recommended to avoid Back to the future ROM because locking sdcards... use Pdamatejam ROM... also you have video tutorial how to dualboot WP7 and android
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356833
you can use any ICS based android ROM for SD/MAGLDR....

Dear All Experts....
First of All Thanks to all.............
I have one question I have android 2.3.5 cynogenmod rom install on my htc hd2
on 16 GB card.... now i also want to taste win 7 on other card.....
Is it possible to use both Os without changing any setting while swaping the cards......
The HD2 (ATM) can't boot Windows 7.
But if you mean WP7, then no.
No because the HD2 can only hold one OS on its NAND, either WP7 or Android.
However, you can dual boot both OS's under two conditions:
1- It must not be a mango version (e.g nodo) .. because Mango locks up the SD and you can't use it for android. (AFAIK)
2- Android must be on the SD (an SD version).

Isn't there a SD card unlock for Mango ?
No its not possible to run both os off two sd cards
I got dual boot on my hd2 mango running as nand and android off the sd card
There is a storage unlock.cab file which partitions your sd card to whatever size you want to run android off the sd card after you flash mango..
Hi Moschino02
Can you tell me the Process for There is a storage unlock.cab file which partitions your sd card to whatever size you want to run android off the sd card after you flash mango..

a) Got to the back to future WP7 rom thread.
b) Read.
You just install the cab to unlock card and resize partition and then put your android files on the sdcard and boot android via magldr.
yeah but after i did that i cannot boot wp7.I use hyperdroid nand rom and yuki's mango build. Can anyone help i'm new in dual boot and i really dont know what to do but i want to fix it.If there is some way without flashing a stock rom and install the mango all the way from the beggining please share
I have clearly stated that you cannot boot Android (NAND) along with WP7, yet you tried to use HyperDroid NAND + WP7?
You need Android on your sd (refer to the SD development forum) and WP7 on NAND.
Hi,
I have MAGLDR installed.
I am happy with my present SDrom (in fact the best and fastest rom I have tried regardless of Nand or SD type).
How do I correctly install NAND rom alongside my present SD rom?
I do not want to destroy my SD rom.
btw, I tried to install and everything seems to be fine, but I think that NAND rom once I boot in to the Android is asking for SD card permissions...........I THINK!
How do I install NAND now correctly?
Regards

You should be fine to install normally as long as you don't delete the contents of your SD card. Just follow this guide but skip the step which asks to partition the SD card. It doesn't matter if the ROM needs to use the SD, as long as it doesn't format it (and I think it will warn you about that should it happen).
Hi is it possible to boot more than one android version on SD card ? I have win7.5 on nand & android on sd. and want to add 2end version of sd android ! i know it's possible with other devices as htc evo & desire ..using boot manager .

Just place the second build on your SD card under a different folder name (with a corresponding Rel_path) and then switch between each build using the AD SD Dir thing in MAGLDR. I haven't actually tried this before (I don't use WP) but in theory I guess this should work fine.
yea that works, its just a bit clunky and time consuming. there's no bootselector that i know of, though, so its the only way, (i think)
but some installed apps in android creates folders in the root of the sd card . they will be corrupted as they will be shared by the 2 builds !!!
I have 4 SD roms in SD & WP7 in NAND, the only time apps get mixed up or corrupted is when you use the same ROM with different build like MIUI & the SII port which also uses MIUI. Not that much of a trouble unless you have critical files/ info you want to keep.

Hi,
I intended to post this question to the [3.Nov.2012][ROM] NexusHD2-JellyBean-4.1.2-CM10 V1.2 [NativeSD] thread, but not allowed to (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32624318)
Can someone help me redirect the question? Thanks!
First thanks for the great ROM, tytung. It looks great and easy to install.
I have a HD2 and wanted to dual boot WP7 and Android. Found this new method NativeSD and decided to try it. But once I installed the ROM (through MAGLDR 1.13 and Recovery 4Ext 2.2.7), everything works fine, except that the camera app (and other apps) says that it cannot find the external SD card to save the pictures. It does not give me options to save on phone. But since both system and data are on external SD, and that partition is treated as /mnt/sdcard0, I am not sure if I am supposed to have an external SD card from the perspective of Android.
Cannot seem to find similar post with this issue, so I must be doing something wrong with partitioning. Could you help??? Thanks so much! I am inches away from having a great Android JellyBean experience on my HD2.
Thanks!!!
-----------------------------------
Details:
4 partitions on my 16GB SD card:
1) FAT32, 3GB (this is the boot partition, where I installed Recovery 4Ext and through it, installed the boot files in /NativeSD)
2) Ext4, 8GB (this is the system/data partition, where installation put all Android files)
3) Ext4, 2GB (this is current empty, reserved for another ROM that requires two partitions)
4) Other, 2GB (this is a WP7 partition)
I formatted these using Mini Partition Tool on Windows (not via Recovery 4Ext)
I think you need to run CHKDSK on your FAT32 partition of the card with fix option, once, using a card reader and computer. Once done, put the card back to your phone and boot to your preferred Native SD rom. Then check whether you applications are able to trace the SD card. Should work, since the same worked for me, when I had a similar issue. Hope that helps.

Hi dheerajk27, thanks for your quick reply. Was wondering
1) should Android JB think that I have an external SD?
2) where will this external SD be mapped to? The Fat32 partition? The same Ext4 partition as system & data?
3) what would chkdsk do? I just want to make sure that it doesn't mess up the Win 7 stuff as well.
Thanks!
Hi braveliquid, welcome to the forum.
Did you set all your partitions as primary using minitool?
1. yes
2. depends photos/music => fat part, apps=>ext part
3. not sure either

Thanks for your reply. Upon multiple trial and error, I found out that the logical partition is the culprit. When I have 3 primary (FAT32, Ext4, Ext4), Android can recognize the ext SD card. However, when I have 3 primary and 1 logical (the Win Phone 7 partition is made logical by windows), then Android does not recognize the ext SD card anymore.
Any thought on how I can resolve this? Or else I will have to keep 2 SD cards, one for WP7, and one for Android. Doable, but a bit of a hassle.
Thanks!
use minitool and set your wp7 partition as primary too.
Problem solved.
you could use two cards, i am at the moment (I keep spare card in a cellotape pocket on inside of battery cover). You can also dual boot without partitioning see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34009754&postcount=1126 but only really as a backup phone in case wp7 goes wrong and you are away from pc.

Thanks Robbie. Yes, I have set the WP7 partition as primary and then it works! I am liking the Android experience (have been using iPhone).
Btw, in WP7, it is asking me to update software (I have a very old WP7 installation, migrated to dual boot in early 2011 i think). Can I just upgrade WP7 like normal (i.e. by connecting to Zune)? Or will that destroy MAGLDR? If that won't work, how can I upgrade WP7 to 7.5 or later 7.8? I cannot use Windows Market Place apparently with the old WP7 OS.
Thanks again!

I would just flash one of the new wp7.8 roms, your choice which. Ansar's does not seem to be able to use the new wpbackup app at the moment.
With Hd2o and pdaimatejam you can backup your phone and restore apps sms calls etc. Sooo much better for trying out new roms.

Hi
I just bought a used HD2 and I will get it next week.
I wanted to get the HD2 to install Android on it, but I don't know if I should run NAND or SD version. As of what I understand, installing to NAND will install onto the internal storage where Windows Mobile 6.5 is installed by default and installing to the SD will install onto the an optional MicroSD card. Is this correct?
will you be dual booting or just replace the WM to Android? if you haven't heard about Native SD check out the links below, it could give you some ideas.
You can even dual boot from WP7.8 & Android but WP is always in nand, try to search the forums & read more about the HD2
