Hey everyone!
I am new to this forum, so I can't post to the dev section, but if it's not posted before, I think, someone should test and report the problem.
When I used Viber, I heard the caller, but she didn't hear me at all. (overall quality wasn't bad, though).
And when I tried to use Soundhound, it said no microphone detected, maybe another app blocks it etc.
Anyone can confirm, that mic doesn't work on ICS in apps?

hi...i searched the forum so think posting this question would be appropriate...
recently i just flash my rom to sony's official 2.3.3 (not the xda pre-rooted version)
as usual i download skype and viber, but i am having the same problem with them
when i make/receive a call, i can hear the other person's voice, but the person CANNOT hear me...
just wondering if anyone is having the same problem here?
and is there any way to fix?
i hope it's not my device's problem ><
thanks!
Viber is terrible to begin with... Skype works fine for me.. There is a bug in the X10 mic driver that makes the sound echos.
since the update to skype with vid, the x10 is not able to make any call, look at the home page for the modded version, might work

Ohhh good for you
Unfortunately for me, I tired all the possibilities, and none of them worked :'(
Hello everyone, time to report another issue (or not ?) I am having with my N4, and I need your help to see if it requires a return.
The microphone on my phone seems to give a ton of feedback when I am not in speaker mode. Whether I am using an earphone, or speaking directly with the phone on my ear.. tapping the microphone or breathing into it carries over pretty strongly into the earpiece. Some of my friends have said that I am sometimes pretty inaudible, I am guessing that's the microphone acting up.
Now I have read in some threads that the N4 microphone has a pretty high gain which often causes a distortion.. but I dont think this feedback is caused by that. Please correct me if I am wrong. Also, I have seen a few posts (not many) by people reporting this feedback.. but I am yet to come across anyone complaining about this when not using a earphone. Probably not many people start tapping their microphone while speaking on the phone.
Can anyone please tell me if you have faced this issue? If you haven't noticed.. can you please do me a favor and try it out ? Get on a call and check for microphone feedback by
a) using a earphone (not a hands-free headset)
and
2) speaking without a earphone with the phone on your ear.
I bought this in India with 1 year LG warranty.. and LG does not have the replacement policy which Play store gives. My seller has a 30 day replacement policy, and if I have to get advantage of that.. I need to call this in before 29th.
I am on stock ROM, Franco kernel r156 nightly. Build 513k, rev 11. Build Number JDQ39E.

Hi, Well I had an issue after rooting and installing all my apps , So I did a factory install rooted and started installing the app 1 by 1 and testing.
For me the issue was that if I was on a call and I pressed the speaker button my mic would stop working , even if i switched back , after extensive testing I found that ever time that happend the only was to make my mic work again would be task killer or manually clearing and restarting the phone app. I know it sounds strange but for those of you who have the same problem, try it you will see that you dont even need to reboot in order for the mic to start working again, But why the dailer?
Hi, I'm writing to you to address a problem I have been having for a while now. When I speak on the phone and the speaker is off, the other person hears themself echo. It works fine when the speaker is on but when the speaker is on everyone hears your conversation.
and,
My friend has the same phone (LG G2 D802) as me and we were speaking on Viber and again without the speaker on it was echoing for the both of us. When we both turned on our speakers it started making a static like sound. Oddly enough when we turned off the speaker both the static sound and the echoing stopped. It was weird but i dont want to have to turn the speaker on off everytime and even when i do it doesnt work everytime.
My Device: LG G2 D802 (Android 4.4.2)
Same problem here, I think its common to all G2s.
I haven't tried it on a custom Rom yet cause I've been running stock mostly, but I'm betting its software.
Same problem here
Hello, its not just Viber its almost all of the VoIP clients. I have serious doubts about "its software issue" well I have tried almost 4 different roms. from stock 4.2.2 to CM 11. Nothing seems to work. I wonder its the chip. i don't know i am not expert.
if you have any VoIP working plz share. thanks.
For everyone that is experiencing this issue: we are gathering more information and would appreciate if you could open a support ticket here: http://bit.ly/1aOwGy2 in order to help us investigate.
Hi, on my nexus 4, all of a sudden on phone calls, both the speakers and mic are not working, ie - i can't hear anything and the other party can't hear anything from me. however with other calling apps such as skype and viber it works flawlessly. i've tried to reboot the phone but that hasn't fixed the issue.
this only happened yesterday night, it's been working without issues since i bought it.
I have read of similar situations but not one decisive solution, so if anyone can help it'd be great.

cheers.

Anyone having issues with video calls and speaker phone calls? Everyone I have talked to complains about barely being able to hear me. I use hangouts mostly for the video calls. Just wondering if it is my phone or a common issue. Thanks!
My speakers are exceptional for phone speakers. They are far louder than what I came from (Galaxy note 3). They have a very good stereo image when the phone is oriented properly for audio. The lows are quite impressive. While they aren't "loud", they're present and clearly replicated. The highs are a bit much, but that's to be expected from such small drivers. This is easily fixed with viper4android. I haven't actually used the speakerphone yet, but the same rules apply. The only difference is it will use "Call Volume" instead of "Media Volume" in the mixer.
The only thing I have actually found is that the amplifier chip CAN exceed the fMAX of the speakers. Essentially this means that the amplifier is capable of pushing the speaker farther than the speaker can physically travel causing distortion. This can be a problem if you listen to music that isn't normalized. I recommend everyone normalize their audio collection to avoid having a song suddenly be 6+ db above the previous and blow the drivers on the phone. (If you listen with headphones, it's HIGHLY recommended that you do this as well to avoid destroying your eardrums from the same problem.)

I have the issue as well. Hangouts calls on speakerphone do not work very well. The other person can barely hear you. I sent feedback to Google and I suggest you do the same. Speakerphone on a regular call over cellular network works great.

Have you found a fix or have you read any more info about this problem elsewhere? it is very frustrating. I have started a thread on google product forums for hangouts as well....

Also may want to try this. It seems to have worked for others in the past. Not sure if it is referring to calls over the network or calls over hangouts but I assume the result would be similar. I dont use hangouts mostly for calls so it is not something i can do a lot of troubleshooting with. Give it a shot and report back. If you are rooted you can disable the noise cancelling from within the build.prop (in system directory) by changing persist.audio.fluence.voicecall=true to false.

Same problem here. Other party complains they can barely hear me. I bet it is software issue since there are others experiencing same thing but this is totally unacceptable. How can you keep a phone that cannot be used for phone calls...
Sent from my Nexus 6P
No I have not found any solutions. I called Google and they were not much help. I can try that solution in the build.prop and let you know if it works for me. Did you try it? If none of this works I may RMA it to see if it is a hardware issue. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well I called my wife at lunch over hangouts and it didn't seem to help. I have a contact at Google support who told me to follow up with him if I continue to have issues. I have sent him an email along with links to a few other threads where people are having issues.
I'm also hearing complaints and frequent "Hello?"s when I'm on speakerphone. I already submitted an RMA for the uneven speakers and my new 6P has the same issues, so I'm reluctant to bother them with this until I find out more. I tried calling the same person using my Moto X 2013 over Hangouts with the phone in the same position, laying flat on the desk in front of me, and they said I was much clearer/louder on my Moto X. I'm dissapointed with these few issues but loving the phone overall. Just trying to see if this is something others are having, which it seems like they are, and hoping to find a fix. Please report back, I'll continue doing research but have only found info similar to the post @elreydenj mentioned making.
Nothing new on this issue?
