Tried to ask this here, but I don't have enough posts (pretty annoying haha).
Anyway, I recently installed the latest MIUI ICS Rom, and am liking it so far. However, I have noticed a huge drop in battery life, and it takes an extremely amount of time to charge. I had it charging for almost 6 hours, but it only went from ~30% to ~50%. I then left it overnight (not charging; screen off, not shutdown), and it was down to 16% when I woke up 7 hours later.
Is my case unusual, or is this just an issue with it being an alpha rom? I had no battery issues with MIUI 2.1.20 or stock.
I wouldnt say mine is that significant, however I have noticed a decrease..especially in standby. I assume its not going to sleep?

so ive been running fipz radio ever since the initial release. never bothered to make benchmarks on speed, i was in it for the battery. last night i couldnt taken the cruddy battery anymore, so i flashed back. i fell asleep with my phone at 64% and woke up at 58%. yay! battery fixed!
but now, here i am, posting from my phone and almost sickened at just how S...L..O...W.. the damn thing is. i had never noticed it majorly, but that radio was giving me the extra boost in signal(obviously the issue with my battery) that made my phone bearable.
now im stuck with ssslllllloooowww browsing but amazzzzing battery (58% to 40% in 5 hrs, max use. heyyy, not bad!)
if you had to chose, which would it be?
battery or signal
Signal.
/10 chars
Definitely signal. I can always find a charger.

with phone idling all day, battery went dead and phone shut off within 8 hours of full charge... wtf?!?

I've also noticed that with the latest CM's battery life is an issue for me. Ive got KoR roms to last almost two full days but cm is dead within 20 hours.
My battery life has changed as well and I now have to keep my travel charger and car charger with me at all times or suffer with a dead phone.
i had been running rc3 with the 8-19 kernel, and my battery life was similar to stock, but the combination of latest CM and wildmonks are just killing me... i think im going to go back to rc3 with the 8-19 kernel.
Check the active processes. You can't drain the battery in 8 hours unless you have a process stuck, using 100% CPU constantly (possibly Exchange?).
good thought, but im not an exchange user... i cant seem to isolate the issue. im going to do a full wipe and try stock to see if maybe i have a bad battery.
People with battery life issues should try Enom's ROM with a wildmonks kernel. I'm 18 hours in of a full charge and I'm at 76%. That's normal use with full screen brightness, wifi and gps, quite a few background updating apps, etc.
Over 50% of power usage should be the display under even moderate usage.
With wifi, push, and poll active, the battery drop per hour with the screen off should be less than 1%.
If it's higher than that, you need to find the rogue process or get rid of an automatic task killer.

Display is most of my usage with over 50% every time. I have one app that auto updates in the background, Twitter, and thats every half hour. I do have 3g on but with wireless on most of the time. GPS, Autosync, and Auto-Brightness is on. I play one game twice a day, World War, once in the morning, once at night, but both times are usually on the charger.
Now that I think about it, Im a part of latitude but maps/latitude never consume battery according the about>battery.
Either way CM6 full charge starting at 4am, with light-moderate use, will be dead at like 5pm. I can go almost 2 days on a single charge of KoR rom. Enoms rom I have tried and lasts a full day +some...

I have the same issue and have had it since RC2. I can deal with it since I have the desktop dock at work, the car dock, and two wall chargers at home. The drain is pretty noticeable -- after about 30 minutes of the phone being off the charger and left alone with screen off, the battery charge is at 94% with "Display" using 65% of that. Wifi/BT/GPS off.
Like I said, it's not a big deal right now because I have chargers everywhere, but it's really annoying. I'm still searching for the fix, but if I can't find it, back to MCR for me.
I tried CM for 1 week and I must say the extra glitters is not worth the poor battery life., only lasted 1 day if used moderately. I just switched back to FRF91 Stock Rom today, lasts me 2days if used moderately. Longivity of the battery is another long term concern people should think about. I still miss my modded dialpad with big buttons, cool trackball colors and many more, CM is such a TEASE!
What kind of battery life are people getting with Pershoot's latest? It's undervolted, so it should do pretty well.

Tried Enom? I've seen zero difference in battery life, perhaps slightly better, since switching to it from stock Froyo on my N1.
In the battery use screen, what's draining the battery with the screen off? Let the phone drain like 10% with the screen off the entire time after unplugging.
several recent nighties and cm6.0.0 seem to have something broken.. Four hours of standby after full charge and the battery level already @ 83%.
cell standby 32%; idle 29%; display (wtf was turned off all the time) 28%.
Drains twice as fast compared to older CM roms..
The LEDs are also considered the Display by the battery meter.
Still, 17% in four hours is enormous. I guess I'll have to hold off on CM6 until they sort this out.
Dicks! 4% battery drain in one hour with almost no use, and that's after flashing pershoot's undervolted kernel. No way.
I'm going to try wildmonk's kernel now. :/
I am running CM7 on a D2 and i am experiencing pretty short battery life. I went from Liberty 2.0 rom on froyo last week, and upgraded to GB and flashed CM7.
I have barely used it much today for example. Took it off the charger at 6:30am have done nothing more than sent a few texts and browsed a website for about 10 mins. It is 10:30 and i am already at 70%
I did a proper battery stat reset this past weekend also.
(i have also been getting a lot of random force closes)
since i cannot post pics here's relevant info...

CM7 GB Battery Issues
I am having this problem as well. Ever since I rooted and installed Rev's CM7 GB build a few days ago battery life has been much worse. I tried installing Jake's Mods V13 but if it is helping it is not helping alot. Yesterday, made 2 short phone calls, sent 3-4 texts, browsed web for maybe 10 minutes total, and was on tweetdeck for maybe 15 minutes. By end of the day was down to 30% battery. Pre-root and CMY probably would have been about 60% - 70%. Here are the battery stats when plugged it in at bed time last night:
15h 16m 23s on battery
Cell Standby 55%
Phone Idle 19%
Display 13%
Voice Calls 9%
Android OS 2%
TweetDeck 2%
Has anyone figured out a solution to this? Really liking CM7 but I am afraid to play a game or something on the phone because I'm afraid I will run out of juice!
CM7 does have a shorter battery life than stock and some other ROMs. It's still the best ROM and it will eventually be back to better battery life. I use SetCPU and JuiceDefender.
Should I go into the CPU settings on my phone to find ways to increase my battery life? If so, which setting should I alter?
I have been using the 1Ghz/undervolt option in Jakebitesmod along with Juice Defender and it seems to be helping. Battery will usually last me all day with moderate use.
You might want to try SBFing back and starting from scratch. I was on Liquid 3.0 and has atrocious battery life due to the 'Idle' process and was seeing 10-15% battery life drop each hour when there was absolutely no use.
I switched to CM7 and things were much happier. Maybe 10% loss after 4 hours idle. FB app did drain the battery once but I think I backed out of it while it was loading so it was trying to load GPS or something but outside of that no battery life problems what so ever.
Hey guys whatsup! i searched and couldnt find any info about this,im the only one with that issue in 4.1.2?? the stock task manager doesnt show up in status bar mini apps,i couldnt find it anywhere.the program exists and can be multiwin, but cant be added to status bar mini apps. that happens in the very latest roms of jb. at previous jb roms didnt had that problem.
i even tried taking the system apks from other jb roms, but without any luck.
well its ok to use es task mnger, with multiwin, but that stock task mnger its very handy to me.
Something else...is the battery life worst (a lot!!)than 4.0.4 or its just me,lol. and it takes ages to charge, the whole night and now its at 85%!! and always with power saver on! i even browse the net with charger on,power saver, low brightnes, and keeps falling! in 4.0.4 didnt had this. so i bough a 500€ tablet to work it at power saver,15% brightn and all the time at charger in jb (awesome to be honest) updates, or just stay with 4.0.4 with THE BEST battery life,we'r talking for the double (at least) life! for an example i used sygic nav in the same route and in ICS ate only 3% when the JB drained at least 10%...
ouff,thats all folks!
ps: i started writing this at 85% and now its at 83%!!! im just writing for christ's sake! with charger on and power saver! in ics i bet now it should be at 86+%!!!
lol i forgot, i have a gt-n8010 running stock rom 4.1.2 XXUCMA5,rooted,deodexed,
stock 8013 unrooted, 4.1.2, I'm squeezing more out of my battery on JB, also charging seems unchanged, even a bit quicker to 80 percent. still, and always took longer for that last 20%
You can add the stock task manager widget. it lets you monitor which apps are running and kill them.
If you don't know what's draining your battery, then download better battery stats... and post a screenshot after you have let it run for a day.
I can only speak for myself here but since I got JB, battery life is pretty good as far as I am concerned. It does charge overnight for me. Last time I charged it, I was on over 7 days of battery life with 5 1/2 hours of screen time with 15% battery left. I didn't have it very long before JB came out though so I cannot compare it very well to ICS.

well since i dont have any pc or console etc. im only melting on my tablet! and when you make this use at the tablet, and sudenly the battery looks weird, then it has to be! im talking for a use of at least 2-3 hours continually use per day and of course another 4-5 hours spreaded for the rest of the day.
anyway a few hours ago i noticed something weird, when tablet was on and booted, the battery had about 82%~
when shut down, and connected to charger, the large baterry icon showed it was at 60%~!! i charged it for about 2 hours to 80%~ then switched on and it showed full battery!!,im thinking to charge it while off for the whole night to 100% ,and then wipe bat stats
I think you should try a factory resetb should your problem persists. It usually solves battery problems arising from upgrade if firm ware. I'm on jb4.1.2 and I'm getting10 hours of battery life with continuous usage and 3g at times, as I use it as a phone too. Charging is no problem either.

I'm a little confused and frustrated by this, and I'm not sure what is the correct solution.
I used to be on Cloudy G2, then I switched over to somboons stock ROM with Dorimanx. That was pretty good, especially with the kernel profiles from Dorimanx. But sometimes, lag just killed me. I got to the point where it took me 5 minutes to even edit a single snapchat. Battery life was meh: approximately 1.5 to 2 hours of screen-on-time (SOT). I put in a new battery, and it was similar.
So I switched to Dirty Unicorns 5.1.1. Performance was really good, loved the customizations and features. Idle battery drain was pretty good too (usually less than 5% loss over night), but overall SOT was same as before. Active battery drain was pretty bad. But I couldn't get weather animations to work on the lock screen, and there was no SmartStay.
Now I'm on NDM 5.5, which is a really nice looking ROM, but performance is a bit lacking. Idle battery drain was excellent (close to Dirty Unicorns), but active battery drain was horrendous. I flashed Xceed build 16, and it was the same. Xceed build 14 is a little better, but active is still ridiculous. To give a perspective: I was on reddit, on auto brightness for about 10 minutes.... and I lost 12%. Yesterday, when I unplugged, made two 10 second calls, and then let the phone sit while I ate dinner... I lost 18% in 20 minutes.
I'm at a loss at this point. I've read some posts that said to give it a few days before judging battery life, so I'll wait a bit, but I'd like to hear your thoughts. Should I try another battery switch? Is there a ROM/kernel combination that might give me better battery life? If it helps, the most common things I use my phone for are chatting, reddit, and Puzzle and Dragons.

Edit: I switched from Xceed to Dorimanx, and for whatever reason, battery drain is worse now. Here are some screenshots. This is right when I woke up, so all that battery drain was happening in my sleep. Any clues what I can do to fix? I'll probably flash another ROM later, but I'd like to know if there is something wrong with my phone or battery or something hardware related, before I go for software changes.
