Touchscreen issues - Kindle Fire General

I have an issue on any rom including stock where my screen likes to pick up presses in other places besides where I touch or sometimes where I touch AND another place, does anyone else have that issue and/or is there a fix for it?
We are legion, for we are many

you should check the application that you are running, I installed several applications that are not meant for KF and the screen format is not right for KF, so when I touch certain area the respond is not there

It does it on stock and cm7 and 9 its certain areas like lower left in portrait mode touches there and top left and on keyboard it touches all over unless I press firmly but not long otherwise it pulls up a diff symbol or letter its pretty annoying sometimes I'll have to flip it around from portrait to landscape to opposite landscape just to type stuff in with out errors I'm pretty sure its something wrong with the screen itself cuz it does it on all roms all apps all keyboards and the presses are consistently in the same wrong spot :-/ I've tried different kernels roms keyboards etc, I'm not a noob by any means I dev for the evo and have been writing code for over a decade I was just wondering if anyone else had the same issues and if it was hardware or software related

its the cheap POS touch panel Amazon/Lab126 used on the fire. One of the MAJOR compaints about it. Sorry. I know some devs are looking for a way to adjust the touch screen sampling.

I figured it was hardware related since it does it on everything I've tried I wonder if I lowered the sensitivity of the touch interface if that would reduce the errant touches

I've had it with the issues. I also have the trackpad issue, plus signal dropping all the time, even when just sitting on my table. Sometimes it drops completely and signal does not come back, even enabling and disabling airplane mode. I have to reboot the phone to be able to lock on to a signal. Also, my hinge is too loose. Even while using it in car, a slight bump on the road makes the screen close over my fingers. I'm calling for a replacement today.

Mine is working fine. I have noticed that it moves by itself when I'm in bright sunlight, or in a car and the sun is going behind trees, it will move the selection around my screen. A little annoying but almost never happens.
If my finger is sticky or sweaty it makes it harder for it to read my swipes. But with a clean dry hand it works almost perfectly. Too bad it doesn't register diagonal swipes.
If you hold the shift (arrow up) key down while in a text window, you will get an arrow cursor for your trackpad. It's a good way to test it out because you can see exactly how it moves.
As far as calibrating it... No way to do so that I know of.

Sensitivity of touch screen

Lo,
not sure if it's just me and coming from my Hero, but I do have issues at times with the screen getting to recognise my finger presses. This can be in games to apps; I generally find that a firm press works but surely this should be needed.
Can anyone else confirm whether they have the same or whether mines gone a bit dodgy?

Yeah,,i'm the same when trying to select tabs on dolphin hd. It was a pain trying to play fruit ninja too.
Mine did seem super sensitive at first too and noticed like others that if you held your finger really close,b ut not touching, the screen still recognised the touch.
I hope then this isnt something that worsens overtime - I'll wait and see.
Thanks
I'm curious about this now because at first I also noticed it would respond if my finger was very close but still above the screen. I don't know if I've gotten used to that now or if it's actually changed. There has been two software updates so it's possible they tweaked a setting. Despite not noticing the hovering touch any more the screen is still far more responsive than my Milestone.
With the last 2 updates, they did change the screen sensitivity.
Could one of you undo the updates or hard reset, and see if it is sensitive again? That way, we know it's just software and tweakable.
I can't because I do not have my phone yet. Lol... (actually that isn't funny)..
My phone has had all the updates done and I find my screen sensitivity to sensitive. But then again I have come from a Touch Pro 2 where it wasn't the best anyway.
No problems here. Search for multitouch test on the market for some objective testing. (You can also see with this app that HTC solved the weird multitouch problem that previous devices had.)
From my testing, it seems to react better to a greater surface area contact; the tip of my finger barely triggers it, but if I use the full end of my finger it seems fine.
Bit odd and annoying
Mine's *too* sensitive.

I would call the HTC helpdesk and ask for a pick-up repairment or go back to the store and swap it for another one.

Touchscreen issue.

One day there'll be an android phone with a touchscreen as good as the iphone...
Actually the S2 touchscreen seems to be pretty good. The only issue I've found is this: There appears to be a 'move threshold'. I.e. when you touch the screen, the touch-down even is sent fine, but when you move your finger slightly no move event happens. You have to move at least.. maybe 2 mm, before any move events happen, at which point the touch jumps from its original position to the correct one. This has the effect of making all scrolls and pans start with a little jump.
Even the crappy touchscreen on my N1 doesn't do this. To me it sounds like a software issue -- maybe even deliberate -- rather than hardware. Does anyone know why they would do this, or how to fix it?
You should make a youtube video showing this issue.
Multitouch Visualizer shows this issue clearly (as well as, on a positive note, showing the screen can identify and track at least 10 touch points simultaneously -- nice!)
Yup, looks like software big. hope its fixed in next update. Try playing pool break game, the direction change due to this bug is annoying.

I think it's a future, not a bug: Not scrolling when you lift your finger off the screen, because you can't lift it perfectly vertically. It happens some time on my DHD.
I've noticed this in every android phone even my nexus one. It must be the way android is written, doesn't seem like there's much you can do about it =(
Also all android phones seem to lag with the touch input. The time between the actual movement of your finger and the screen moving is much greater than ios or wp7 devices. Its like the content is following your finger around lagged while on ios or wp7 its always directly under your finger.
The N1 does it in some places but not all. The most obvious place it doesn't do it in is the (stock) lock screen. It also doesn't do it when you slide the notification bar up from the bottom (but does when you slide it down from the top!)
The SGS2 seems to do it absolutely everywhere. I also think that the 'step' is bigger on the SGS2, although that might just be due to the screen being larger. It's quite possible that when someone creates an AOSP ROM for the SGS2 it'll go back to doing it in the same places as the N1.

[Q] controller touchpad sensitivity?

I'm curious how sensitive is the touchpad supposed to be on the ouya? Sometimes mine seems like all you need is a little tap, when other times i am having to bash it to recognize a tap on it. is this normal or is it a sign of bad things to come? Also is there a test like the joystick test for the touchpad?
thanks
I have the same problem, I'm pretty sure it's normal behaviour. Kinda annoying when browsing, at times.
The touchpad is small and there is no boundary for where to start and stop. So sometimes you hit it and sometimes you don't. Almost needs some physical indication of the borders. I suggested some tape or something. Just to give feedback for your finger.
It also isn't that sensitive.

[Q] G2 wont register touch input,

My LG G2 wont register touch input properly. It happens nearly all the time, e.g. i am typing and it works like a charm and suddenly it starts missing keys which earlier were just fine, similarly i am missing swipes everywhere like in home screen and games but they are less frequent as compared to the touch missing the input completely. I am really worried as i just spent a lot on this and where i live all the sets are imported from abroad so no warranties of any kind,
Has any one else experienced this and if yes is this a hardware problem or a software one, and above all guide me on what to do. Thanks in advance for your comments

I have this sometimes but i have realised that it is my own fault as the screen is rather large and i touch the edge of the screen with the base of my thumb, which seems to make it ignore other touch events on the screen

I also thought that i was doing something like that but then i picked it up in my hand and touched with a finger from the other hand carefully avoiding any unintended touches but still it keeps on missing taps during selections across menus and what not.
Is something causing your CPU usage to spike? If this is happening, launching an app like OS Monitor while it is happening will point out the offending app.
