If you uninstalled it, you could just reflash the rom without wiping anything. I'm also pretty sure the launchers are different between sense 1.0, 2.1, 3.0, and 3.5. Don't quote me on that, as I haven't ran a sense rom in months.

You're right, Rosie is even slightly different on different versions of stock even tho they are 1.0 there are minor changes that could cause problems best bet is to wipe cache and dalvik and flash the rom on top of itself to get Rosie back

I'll (try) to help;
1st: Using adb, push the mms.apk from Cm7 to /system/app on your wildfire
2nd: Reboot your phone and you should have the CM7 sms app
Do try and tell if you encounter any problems
Installing mms.apk like any other app might not work. (Says problem parsing the package).
And even if u replace it into sense rom.zip and flash through custom recovery, it might not work. Checked with an old sense rom. Don't know about latest ones.
Maybe due to the reasons,
CM7 is 2.3 Aosp and sense rom is 2.2
Sense Messaging app has sense HTC widget.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hehe, didn't even think about that

is there a way to remove sense from the sense roms?

I'm using Synergy ROM non-god, but I dont use sense. Is there a way to remove it?
Is there another rom based on the sprint gingerbread release that does not have sense?
You mean you want to remove the sense launcher? I don't believe its possible since everything ties together. It doesn't take up ram tho
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.
What I do when I want a Senseless ROM, I sign into Google account, download a LauncherPro and Root Explorer. I go into system/apps, delete Sense stuff there. Navigate to data/data, delete the entire data/data folder and reboot. It deletes all of the app data and all of the Sense stuff I deleted is now gone, no force closes or anything because I deleted the data/data folder. Then I go to data/apps and delete stuff i don't need. Delete data/data folder, reboot. Go to Settings-Manage Applications-files deleted in data/apps will be blacked out. Click on it and uninstall there. Delete data/data again, reboot.
Total overkill, but it always works for me. No Force Closes or crashes or things not working.

The easiest way is to change launchers. Pick one: ADW Launcher, Go Launcher, Launcher Pro, etc.
Download from market, press home key, change to new launcher.
This won't remove anything, but changes from the Sense Rosie launcher and all of it's widgets to a different launcher.
Otherwise, your other options are using an AOSP ROM or finding a "senseless" ROM in development section. Senseless ROMs are basically (I'm way over simplifying) a ROM without the Rosie launcher and another launcher added in its place.

The only way to get a senseless rom is to.flash an AOSP rom. Otherwise sense will always be in he background as its part of the framework.

If you like the pure google experience like the nexus S I suggest OMGB or OMFGB. That was the first rom I flashed when I rooted my EVO. The problem is I got so used to the way sense ties all of my social stuff together. If I coule run stock/pure gingerbread with sense nuances like the social linking I would be so happy.

flash the synergy roms located in this thread ....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092221
Sense is removed and either go launcher or launcher pro has been installed.
There are a few other ROMS in there too, and a few more added in the latter posts in that thread. (mikG2.45 for instance)
I would suggest using (or at least trying) Caulkulin's rom out, its pretty speedy, and pair it up with the most recent freedom kernel.
I'm looking to upgrade my sense to 3.0 without having to flash, but I suspect thats a no go.

Correct you must flash a new rom for that. You can't just flash an upgraded sense.

True, true. It isn't "Senseless" in the purest of senses. But it gets rid of a lot of battery draw and stupid apks that I don't want or need. And wiping data/data prevents a lot of force closes and dead ends, so it keeps it stable. I just like using a Sense-based ROM because of how freaking stable it is. I always switch from AOSP back to Sense...

[Q] How can I install Themes on my Android phone?

Hello,
I am running Android 2.2.1 with sense 2.0 on HTC HDs. So I want to have some of those cool themes like this one ==> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761517.. or this one ==> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134657..
I've downloaded may ".zip" files and tried to flash them through CWM but no luck, I got the message below:
" Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported. Amend scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5. It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbeard based recovery. Please switch to Edify scripting (update-script and update-binary) to create woking updatw zip packages. Installation abort".
Then I tried another themes with ".mtz" but I didn't know how to install them. It needs an app called "Theme Manager".. I installed that Theme Manager app but its not working, I couldn't even found the app icon on my phone!..
All what I want is to have a beautiful themes for my phone!.. :/
Why is it so difficult to get it work? & how to?
Thank you..

I'm not sure, but I think your ROM has to be Cyanogenmod or MIUI based to be able to flash new themes, at least, non - sense themes (seeing as you are running a sense ROM)
Also try moving theme manager to internal storage.
The .mtz files are themes for MIUI. You need a MIUI ROM to install those themes.
I haven't used Sense in a while but can't you download themes (Dock bars etc.) through the HTC hub?

Oh no!.. This is really what I was afraid to hear! Because I've bad times with other ROMs. Actually I've flashed many ROMs before but it couldn't last more than 2 days with me .. There was no logical reason but all the ROMs that I've flashed make the phone freeze & sometimes rebooted unexpectedly when I made a call or receive one. So I went back for the original one..

HTC hub themes sucks!
I've had problems with non-sense Android as well.
While MIUI themes don't work on sense. you can search for sense-based themes. Some can be flashed using CWM, and if that doesn't work, you can copy the files to their proper place manually using root explorer or any similar app, but you have to be 100% sure that the theme you're using is fully compatible with your ROM/build.
You can also try using a third party launcher that is themable like launcher pro or go launcher. You can use gosms to get a themable message app...
Dr.Move & rauschkugl
I'll try your suggestions & feed u guys back.. Thanks
Sense builds are not launcher friendly
my phone performance dropped considerably when I installed ADW, Go launcher, and launcher pro. Never bothered to try any more.
well i don't know, i never used sense builds cause they are much slower.
im on miui from langthang at the moment and it's just great. i don't like the launcher and installed another.
i don't really understand why the op couldn't get other roms to run fluid. if you want to customize a lot you should try a clean install with a miui build.

Just a theory but could you use titanium backup to freeze HTC sense after setting 3rd party launcher as default? That may speed it up.
in theory yes, but if something wrong happens with the new launcher you will not be able to revert to what you had earlier.
I tried that a long time ago, and when I reset my device it got past the boot animation into a black screen, and nowhere further. but that was on one of the few first Sense builds. not sure if it will work on the newer ones. I don't have the courage to try that again

I see. You're a chicken.
Just kidding, so freezing HTC sense caused the build to stop booting? So... probably not the best idea then.
haha, well kind of XD
I like stable sets, so when I find any stable thing I stick with it. I don't have much time to try different settings.
as I said, this problem happened to me using the very first few sense builds, things may be different now.
if you're using an SD build, you can backup your data and system images and try that out. let me know if it works in newer builds
here's an update on the issue:
If you want sense without sense launcher here's a nice build for that:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=997899
and a tweaked themed build:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130359
You can also run a sense build smoothly with another launcher if you make the launcher hard to kill using the supercharger script here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126940
I've tried the solutions above and all ran nicely. a bit of lag with the last one but not a major one.

Think about it logically, and ask yourself the question 'why would HTC provide their Sense UI, the only thing that makes them different from other Android phone manufacturers, as a separate downloadable software?'. Then ask yourself why, if someone else found a way to do this, why wouldn't people be posting about it and why wouldn't you have found it in a search. Finally, what's the point of installing AOSP/CM7 then just putting Sense on it? That's the same as flashing a Sense ROM, seeing as you want the full experience rather than just the launcher.

AFAIK there's still no hacked Rosie.apk working on every device. While TouchWiz and Xperia Home are, for example, avaliable of everyone.
