When u hit mount USB it should pop up a window on your computer to access the sdcard. If it doesn't automatically pop up go to my computer and click on the removable drive, from there you can copy over files.

Any recommendations on how I can recover my Prime?
I was stupid and forgot to back anything up before trying to flash Energy Custom Rom.
Now I find myself in a situation similar to Brick 3 of OP, but not exactly...
Right now, I can only access Recovery (TWRP v2.1.3) and cannot access fastboot, adb or ROM
Is there a way to get the Rom or Recovery install files onto my prime? Is there a way out of this situation?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes I DO HAVE the right drivers loaded see the attached file,
The command is adb push. I'm not at my computer and it's too hard to type and example on my phone for you. Just Google adb push and you should get your answer. Hope this helps.
adb push <where rom is stored>/<name of zip>.zip /sdcard/<any name here>.zip
ie adb push E:/cm10-UNOFFICIAL-i777.zip /sdcard/cm10.zip
you might have to reboot the device back into recovery, even if you're already in recovery, for it to come up. Then just flash it like normal. You do have CWM or TWRP, right?

Transfer Nexus7 nandroid backup to my PC?

So I would like to transfer my nexus 7 nandroid backups to my PC. Since I only have an 8GB N7, I dont want to waste alot of space with nandroid backups. My question is, when connecting my N7 to my PC via USB cable, which folders do I need to transfer? The reason I'd like to do this is because I need to do a factory restore on my device, but after I get the factory restore done, I want to be able to reflash CWM and then use the files on my computer to restore my N7 (after transferring the files back to my N7 of course) Any help would be much appreciated!
Just cut the clockworkmod folder from the internal storage. Then if you Need to restore just drop it back

I have had to do this as well. I keep my nandroid and TiBu files on my PC between ROM updates.

Sorry, but I never thought about this before. If I delete the CWM folder from my tablet, it will remain in my tablet folder on my PC? Then, if I need to do a restore, I can just connect to the PC and add it back to my tablet and restore? Is this correct?
No. Plug your tablet in
Open Nexus 7
Internal storage
Copy the folder clockworkmod to a place on your pc
Once complete delete it from internal storage
If you need to restore
Plug in
Open Nexus 7
Internal storage
Copy clockworkmod folder back from pc to internal storage

I realize this thread is a bit old, but I have been searching and I cant find the answer. My problem is simple. The clockworkmod folder simply does not show up on my PC. The directories that show are the ones for my apps etc, and I can't seem to dig deeper than that. On my Nexus 7 I can browse right to the backups, but I cannot access them from the PC. I have no clue why. I successfully rooted 4.2.2 yesterday and everything else I've done has worked fine, but I can only access the clockworkmod folder from the Nexus 7 itself or from the adb shell on the PC (but I have no idea if I can use the shell to move the backup file to the PC or not).
So in short, I have no idea what to do. I recognize that I am a noob here, but I have done my homework searching for this particular issue and I haven't been able to find anything resembling a solution.

The pathway for nandroid backup is not /storage/emulated/0 or /storage/sdcard0 or /sdcard
It's somewhere else, but I'm not sure exactly where. Download a root file manager like root explorer then search.

Thanks, I have been using the one that comes with ROM Toolbox. The path is data/media/clockworkmod but the problem is I can't access that from the PC. When I try to copy or move the backup file to a directory that I can reach from the PC, It fails. I just get a message saying copy failed or move failed and thats it. That happens with both ES file Explorer and the ROM Toolbox root file explorer. I can see the files just fine and they also appear to have read, write and execute permissions.
Perhaps I am doing something wrong as a user with these apps that I am not being allowed to copy or move these files.

OK, something occurred to me right after writing that reply. I have been trying to copy the whole folder containing the backup files instead of just copying the files themselves. So I went in one level deeper and selected all the individual backup files and was able to copy/paste them into a directory my PC can see and was able to copy them from there onto my PC hard drive. So problem solved I guess.
Difficult to transfer Nandroid to Win8 PC
I have spent the morning trying to find a certain way to transfer my TWRP folders/files to a Windows 8 PC, without luck:
If anyone knows of a simple way to do this please chip in.
Luckily I have an iMac which allows easy transfer from a Nexus device, so I was able to copy TWRP to the iMac and from there to a 32GB Flash drive, then carry that to the Win8 for copying. Not exactly what one would hope for in 2013.. but it works.
I looked at pulling TWRP using WUGfresh and a Nexus Toolkit and think myself lucky not to have ended up with a brick.
Any links to Howto for Windows 8 much appreciated

So it's okay to just copy the backup itself to the computer desktop, then when I need it, transfer it back? I've been just going in to the CWM folder and copying the folder directly to my desktop. So if I need to I can just copy it back provided I put in the same folder?

Well, I just wasn't sure if in the process of being transferred that windows might alter it somehow. I just transferred my Nandroid to my computer, deleted it off my phone, then transferred it back and booted into CWM. I went to restore just to see if it would show up and it did just fine.
I just wasn't 100% sure about it. It just seems too easy... lol. I have Nandroids of quite a few different Rom setups on my computer, I just never had to restore them yet. So hypothetically, if you had the storage space, you could take a Nandroid of every Rom setup you've had and be able to revert to them anytime?
I saw some video guides of people using Adb to transfer to their computers and wondered why they didn't just copy and paste it. I thought there must be a reason. I'm still relatively new to this (only been a few months since my first flash), so I'm still learning.

And what would the advantage of doing it through adb pull command instead of just simply copying it to the desktop? Is it safer or what? That's why I wonder if doing it this way is safe, when everyone else does adb commands...

If you are using cwm, the backups are not user accessible and do not show up under /sdcard, and the only way of accessing them is with ROM manager or with a root explorer... Which makes it hard to transfer back and forth from a computer. If you use adb you will be able to pull everything available under /data/media

That's weird... The backups show up on my computer.... I just plug in and open my phone through my computer, then I go to the CWM folder and drag and drop it to the desktop. Usually takes about ten minutes to transfer because my nandroids are huge (2.2 gb). That easy. I now have transferred it to the computer and then transferred it back to my ext SD card and used it to successfully restore. Did it yesterday.
That's weird. I wonder why it would show up on my computer and not everyone else's?

Well i guess on windows 7/Beams build 15 it's visible.... But even when I still had the stock Jellybean Rom I was able to transfer my backups no problem...
In any event, I should probably get more familiar with adb so i am able to transfer that way or restore if I get bricked somehow... Adb is just so complicated to me though. I've read countless threads and other how tos, but i'm still hesitant to try anything serious. It's friggen intimidating. I have the toolkit installed and the path all set up on my computer and everything, I just haven't done much with it yet.

[Q] [Multirom/Ubuntu 13.04] Access internal memory from Ubuntu

Hi all,
First of all, Multirom: Great work !!! Using Ubuntu 13.04 Desktop for my schoolwork on my N7 and works perfectly.
Except, I can't get to my internal storage (aka SDCard, /storage/emulated/0/) from Ubuntu.
I have done some research and so far, the only conclusion I have for it not to work, is because Multirom uses some sort of chroot jail for the ubuntu folder. I have done some adjustments of the init script and the local script (located at the ubuntu folder inside the Multirom folder), but it had no success.. I tried to make a hardlink from /storage/emulated/0 to a folder inside my Ubuntu "chroot", but it doesnt work.
Does anyone has any idea at all on how to fix this?
I downloaded dolphin from the software center. After installed, open terminal and type "sudo dolphin". Provide root password and dolphin will open. Your internal sdcard contents will be available in the left payne of the dolphin window.
It is not that multirom is in a chroot jail. The "multirom" folder on the sdcard is just given different permissions to keep the media scanner in android from getting access to it, so it is not running and looking for media there.

Thanks ! Tried and succeeded.
For anyone else: you do need to be root in order to access the folders, as above mentioned.

[Q] Desperate need some help, failure updating 4.4

my nexus 4 was rooted with 4.3 but then i decide to upgrade to 4.4
this is the video i am trying to follow, basically just wipe & install which i did most the time.
youtube title "NEXUS 4: HOW TO MANUALLY UPDATE TO ANDROID 4.4 KITKAT"
it has two files one is mako and one is gapp.
after i did all the wiping in cwm and try to install the mako file, it shows "no file context" or sth similar, and installation is abort (i think there is problem when i transfer the file), but then i continue to install the gapp file (what the hell was i thinking?)
so now i am stuck in the google start up loop, i can only access cwm recovery mode and don't have a valid rom to install in my sdcard.
i tried to adb push another rom to the sdcard with no success (my storage was already very low, any way to remove files in the storage at this point?)
the "mount & storage" also doesn't seem to let me mount the sdcard (but system shows up "unmount").
so now i don't know what to do.
if anything has any idea or suggestion please let us know.
i am quite desperate now with a dead phone and will try anything.
thanks for reading such a long thread.

after tons of troubleshooting finally got it back to work.
it ends up the reason is i didn't update to the latest cwm at the very beginning.
and sideloading 4.4 didn't work because of that too, i have to install an old 4.2 to have it working.

Follow these steps and you'll good.
1. Download this: http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/jfltespr/openrecovery-twrp-2.8.0.1-jfltespr.tar
2. Download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1168421
3. Extract the downloaded Odin307.zip anywhere.
4. Open the extracted folder location and open the file "Odin3 v3.07.exe".
5. Now you'll see the ODIN window. Click on the "PDA" button and then select the the "openrecovery-twrp-2.8.0.1-jfltespr.tar" file that you have downloaded in the first step.
6. Turn your phone completely off. And then hold "VOLUME DOWN" + "HOME" + "POWER" and when appear a warning screen, press "VOLUME UP", connect your phone on your computer and wait until it installs all drivers.
7. Press "Start" on ODIN and wait to complete. In the above tabs will appear "RESET" and your phone will reboot.
8. Grab imediately your phone and hold "VOLUME UP" + "HOME" + "POWER" and keep holding and wait until appear a blue 'wallpaper' with the words "TWRP" on it. Great, now don't make anything in these menus, just follow the steps!!
9. Now you must download ADB in order to pull your files to your pc. Download here: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1S0LCuXCnnmSWh6NGJmSE1BUWc
10. Create a folder in "C:/" called BackupFiles.
11. Now open the CMD window (Press on your keyboard "WINDOWS" + "R", write "cmd" and press "ENTER".)
12. Write in the CMD window: adb pull /sdcard/ "C:/BackupFiles"
13. Wait until it completes all the process and you are done All your files should be in "C:/BackupFiles" folder.
EDIT: If your have trouble in step 13, point to the complete path where ADB was installed, like this: C:/your/adb/install/location/adb.exe pull /sdcard/ "C:/BackupFiles"
Aaaaand.... If you have trouble with the drivers, download these here and install: http://www.mediafire.com/download/uw3z23dqz3y7kgn/Samsung-Usb-Driver-v1.5.45.0.exe

You can try a guide like this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...de-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705
You only need to change this part: "if=/dev/block/mmcblk0" to the block of the internal storage. I don't have time to look it up now which one it is, but maybe @DeepankarS knows which block it is.
This won't help him because he deleted all his files.

@Lennyz1988 Earlier I gave him this as a possible solution
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54722303
Rest it is a task
And block is 26/29
persdata -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p26
userdata -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p29
Bdw would Undelete from playstore work on this type of a phone? (It is a risk as writing anything new would damage the images there)
Can he also try recuva?
I've heard it works. Still not sure.
Edit : It doesnt till you mount internal storage.
And this is the source for mounting internal storage.
External Link but the post is By a XDA member on How to Mount Internal Storage.
@Fusseldieb This helps in recovering the accidently deleted files too? Or just mentioned how to dump the system..........

Haha he flashed a new stock rom and it reset by itself.
Well no the files haven't gone. You still can recover them by using any windows recovery tool if you manage to mount the internal storage (somehow) and use a data recovery tool like TOKIWA or Panda or Recuva.

I know, but it's much effort to recover these. And IF these files could be recovered, it would be totally out of order, all in one folder, probably without their original names :silly:
He could somehow mount the EXT4 system, as described here: http://www.maketecheasier.com/access-linux-ext4-partition-from-windows/
I have done this one day with my cellphone, but I don't remember how.

Dual boot windows and linux?
Tell me how did you do this to recover files from your erased android phone.
"If you dual boot your computer with both Windows and Linux, you will discover that while you can access the*Windows NTFS partition from Linux, you won’t be able to access Linux partition from Windows. If you have urgent needs to access Linux Ext4 partition from Windows (without wanting to boot into Linux), here is one tool that can help you."
Read the link that you're sending before posting anything..

Here it's explained: http://mohammadag.xceleo.org/mounting-your-android-devices-internal-storage/
This also meant you could not run recovery software on /sdcard anymore, at least not with MTP.
With a few tweaks, you could, however, do just that!

This won't help him because he deleted all his files.

can u please explain about Cygwin mentioned in steps ? :
Cygwin installed to [c:\cygwin] with pv and util-linux from the repo. Make sure to open Cygwin once to make sure that the /bin folder is created. Also, I made a folder at [c:\cygwin\nexus] to put the exported .RAW file ?

You need to download pv and util-linux seperately from here https://cygwin.com/packages/package_list.html
and put those files in the cygwin map.
