im having issues putting movies on my SD card. i have converted DVDs to mp4. i did have 2 movies i put on there last week(worked perfectly), then installed a 32gb class 10 SD(for more storage) and now i am having troubles. i got 1 movie on there, but the others wont transfer properly. it looks as if it did, but wont play. Even if i try to play them from my phone to computer(via USB). the 1 that i got on there plays fine. any ideas? ive formatted the card.
Edit: The converted movies (mp4 format) play fine from my computer file.

If your running a sense rom,its a bug in the sense OS,if your sd card is over 16GB for some reason, some thing wont show up or even disappear.
After doing more research, I got the new card on ebay. I'm assuming I got some cheap p.o.s. That isn't going to work properly.
Sent from my dang smart, smart phone using tapatalk..
it might be how you are transfering the movies. if you are using a sd adapter for card slots it might not allow you too write files, especially big ones ( 1 gig plus.) I had to buy a r/w sd adapter for mine cuase it constantly failed transfering.
I'm just using a usb cable and mounting phone to computer. It worked perfectly with the factory 8gb card. I don't know if I'm running a sense rom. I'm using swagged out. I believe. I reinstalled the 8gb card and working fine now. if it is a rom issue how do I fix that, or will making the card be seen as 16gb work, if its possible.
Sent from my dang smart, smart phone using tapatalk..
couple things it could be. The first is obviously if you bought the card on ebay, it's highly likely it's a fake. It's very easy to take a 2gb card, paint a number 3 on it, and make it look like a 32gb card.
Second, the files need to be under 2gb for the stock movie player to play them.
Also, you said you converted to mp4, that's not a format, just a container. What matters is the codec used, which should be h264 baseline codec.
Im using a DVD converter. Ive had 2 of the movies on the 8gb card and worked fine. just after the new card they dont work now. all my movies so far are under 2gb. i was able to get 1 of the movies onto the SD but no more. im assuming i got a fake 32gb card, which would make sense, 1 movie about 1.5gb, plus some apps and pics. try 2nd movie and "NO". gonna try and get my $$ back and return it. then actually go buy a real card. thanks guys...

I have a problem with WMP...I am using a PQI 2g miniSD memory card to store my MP3's on...and most of the songs I try to play are skipping.
Im not using a bluetooth headset...just the speakers built into the Wiz.
Is there an issue with the PQI cards? Should I install another media player to play my songs?
I cant figure out why its skipping.
I am using the stock rom from Cingular...for now.
Any suggestions on what is going on...Id like to get this thing to work, so I dont have to carry my Nano.
I had the same problem with a Transcend 80 2gb card. I bought a corsair 2gb for 6$ more from newegg ($20 vs. $26) and have had no problems. In my experience trying to save a few bucks on these high density cards does not really work.
I have used SanDisk with no trouble and now this Corsair. The transcend is now being used in my digital camera instead and seems to have no problems in that device.
Good Luck
Well tonight I swapped my PQI 2g card with my wife's Transcend 2g card....her card(with her MP3's) is working perfectly.
Couple of things I forgot to mention....which I didnt think mattered.
Her songs were downloaded to her card using Media player from her laptop.
I think she created a Library and did the whole transfer that way.
Whereas I "drag and drop'd" all of my songs onto the card and then inserted into the 8125.
I noticed that when I checked the properties of each song off her card, audio codec is listed with Windows Media Audio 9 or 9.1
On my card, there is NO such listing.
Am I assuming correctly that I have use Media Player on my computer to transfer songs to the MiniSD card...and NOT drag and drop.
Or is it that the PQI card is crappy?
In the morning I will try the method she used to download songs and see if that works.

shouldn't make any differnence - WMP is not converting the files or something like that, it also just copies them. So your card seems to be crappy - I also had that problem... The only thing you can try is format the card with different settings/filesystem with SKTools (FAT16 vs FAT32, bigger custer size, no backup FAT table etc.) - but there is no "best" setting - you have to find out on your own...
Hi All
Happy New Year
OK, so I'm happy, I have just received my 8GB Micro SD card in the mail. I popped it in the phone, and my Touch remained happy.
There is a problem though
I use Audio Manager and have put about 1400 songs on my 8GB card so far, to take up around 5GB of the storage.
But, I can't see all my songs in Audio Manager.
When I go to the library, the rotating magnifying/search glass is always working, and it is only showing about half of my songs.
I also went into WM player on the phone, and update the library, and it too doesn't show all the songs either, although It does show about 900 of them.
Anyone know what is going on, or how to rectify this?
There is also another problem too...I thought I would upgrade Audio Manager from ver 1.02.409.721 to ver 1.02.919.713, so I uninstalled the old version, rebooted and installed the 'new' version, rebooted and went to check the 'about' page, only to see I'm still running ver 1.02.419.721.
It's really annoying not to be able to use the full 8GB capacity to load songs onto my phone so far and not to be able to get the latest AM version on my phone too!
I have an 11 hour and a 2 hour flight on Tuesday from England to USA, and I'd really like to be able to have access to 8GB of songs!

I would also like to know if anyone has had this problem since I was thinking about getting an 8gb card also. Someone help this guy out!
From what I've read, I believe it only registers up to 4 gb of space on the card. I may be wrong.

I don't think that is right because I've heard people testify that their 6gb cards work perfectly. But then again maybe those people are lying lol jk
i have a 4GB on mine and it also just recognizes some of my songs....any one have a solution for this.....thnx
From what I have read, all specs say that it can only recognize 4gb. But that is for microSD. Besides a few companies that have made 6gb microSD cards, anything past 4gb is usually microSDHC. I was also looking at getting a 8gb card, but I read that you need to have a microSDHC compatible device. So I'm not sure if that might be the problem, but I can't find anywhere that says that microSDHC is supported by the touch. And also there are some microSDHC 4gb cards, so that might be the issue for Ostthug2k. Check to say if it says that on the card and if not check the manufacturers website to see if it is a microSDHC instead of microSD. So I think the problem just might between have those two types. That would explain the 6gb card working because some of those are microSD and some are microSDHC. (The HC is "high capacity" by the way I think) Maybe I'm wrong about all of that, but I think its worth it to look into.

I also have an 8gb card which my touch recognized with no problems. It is SDHC compliant so you shouldn't have a problem with 8gb. I only have 974 songs on there at the moment but WMP handles that without a problem. You may have to delete your old library and force it to rescan if it's giving you a problem. I'll wipe my card and fill it up to the brim with all music to see if there's some physical limit and report back later today.
Link the new version of audio manager you have and I'll try that too. I never bothered with it before since WMP has always worked for me.

Hi
I went in and deleted the library but it still only picks up a limited number of songs.
What is also annoying is that Audio Manager is constantly 'searching' for songs in the library (the rotating magnifying glass) and that seems to be draining my battery faster too!
Arghh
I can't understand why loads of other people aren't finding this out... Is it because not many people have the 8GB MicroSD card yet?

I put just under 2000 songs and WMP found them just find. Searching was amazinly slow, but it still worked.
Post the cab for the version of Audio Manager you're using or that you wanna use and i'll give it a try.
itune rip
i noticed that the cd that i ripped using itunes does not show up. others are fine, except for those.
what I have noticed is it recognizes mp3 files well but has trouble picking up m4a files. make sure that when you ripped the cd in itunes that you did it in mp3 format instead of m4a
i have a 2g card and at first it would only let me store about 120 mp3s. i formatted it on my pc and after that i could fill the whole card.
Had the same problem using Audio Manager / 8Gb microsd / itunes.
The solution I found :
- Only use .mp3 files (all other are not correctly recognized)
- Use itunes or another mp3 tool to clean all ID3 Tags in mp3 files. Audio Manager do not handle very well ID3 tags that are not well formatted or that contains non ASCII charcaters
Now I have 1600 songs with Audio Manager, and no more a mooving magnify tool (it mooves only on the first launch of audio manager and the stops after few minutes)
I have 1 4GB SDHC card loaded, however I don't use Audio Manager b/c I didn't like the way it alphabetized everything opposed to using track listing as well as not being touch sensitive except for the scroll bar. Additionally, 8GB card will have a lot of info on it so you should expect it to have search for a bit to compile a list and alphabetize itself. I use S2P with no problem plus full screen album art etc...
There are more recent versions of AudioManager that scroll properly and sort by track. I use it now on an 8GB card and it works just fine.
Good morning,
I have a Sprint TAB and I have an EVO 4G. I never took out the supplied 16GB on the TAB and did my business. I just purchased a Kingston 32GB MicroSD HC and for some apparent reason, when I copy my music via card reader or mounting it, only some music files will play! I've done the following:
- Formatted the 32GB card using the TAB
- Formatted the 32GB card using windows
- Tried playing the files from the 32GB card in my EVO and only some will play
- Changed my EVO 16GB card to my TAB and all the music files play!
- I've used all media players to verify this.. (TuneWiki, Internal, Rock, Meridian, etc...)
I know my Android pretty well and this has got my stumped. Before I format the TAB and start completely fresh, I would love to hear any suggestions.
Thank you so much in advance!

I purchased a Samsung GT-I5801 Android phone and a 32GB micro sdhc card. My goal was to use it as a smart phone and an mp3 player; essentially as an iphone at a fraction of the price. The phone works great and the android apps are fun, but the mp3 player functionality has eluded me. I have about 20GB of music and I can’t get it onto the card and/or into the phone.
I have tried transferring the data directly onto the card in two different laptops (both running windows xp sp3-hotfixed to recognize high capacity sdhc cards). Both computers can see the cards and recognize them as 32GB cards. I can transfer files back and forth from the card. I have used windows explorer to transfer the files as well as other programs: Windows Media Player, Media Monkey, FreeFileSync, Doubletwist, Winamp, and Samsung Keis.
I have also tried transferring the music to the phone with the card installed in the phone. I have tried this via all the above programs, including wirelessly transferring via Winamp. The process either stops and/or fails unexpectedly (twice producing the blue screen of death) or appears to complete successfully but turns out to only produce 2GB of music on the card while showing 20GB of space used on the card. The entire file structure for the music files is there but most of the files are empty even though the transfer process shows that they should be there. Then, when I remove and install the card again, the 18GB of space is freed up again to show that only 2GB (or less) of music is there. It is not always the same 2GB of music either. It seems random as to what files are transferred.
I have done a factory reset on the phone twice to make sure that it’s not the corrupted music database on the phone that is preventing all the music being recognized. I have also reformatted the card 3 times during this process. I have tried the following usb connections settings options in the phone: Keis, media player, and mass storage. I have also tried with usb debugging turned on and turned off.
I have a couple of questions:
1- Has anyone else had similar problems and how did you solve it?
2- Is there a maximum file limit per directory, or for music in general?
I’m at the end of my rope here, and am starting to wonder if the money I’ve saved by not buying an Iphone is worth the time and aggravation of this process. I have never posted a question on a tech forum before, but I’m desperate after spending a couple of weeks trying to solve this on my own.
you laptops sd reader is not sdhc Compatibility
try format card in you phone

is the card working on your friends phone? you must have atleast one guy who has a mobile which supports 32 gb card transfer all the music you want and see if all songs are detected in that mobile or not, if not your memory card is defective otherwise there is problem in your mobile.
Thank you for your reply. According to the specs on my netbook (Samsung NP-NC10) the reader is sdhc compatible. I have ordered an usb sdhc card reader to test the theory. I'll let you know how that works. I have formatted the card at least 3 times in my phone and have tried to transfer files with the card installed in my phone via the supplied usb connection cable. I have the same results.
Am I right in assuming that if my phone and sdhc card are working properly then I should have no problems transferring a large amount of music?
Has anyone else transfered 20GB of music to their Android and had success using it as an mp3 player?
have you test your 32gb sd card is real 32gb?
try hdtune or other tools like in windows ,or try full format in windows ?
if windows is hang ,over 2gb is can't read and write ...
i think you sd is fake card ..
Thank you for your suggestion to use hdtune. I tested my card with hdtune pro and it is a 32gb card that is healthy and has no errors.
I guess this means that I have a bad mobile? I wonder about transfering all my files again and then trying a factory reset on the phone.
I have not considered rooting the phone as I am new to this, but would that be a potential solution for this problem?
is in hdtune error scan ,full scan 32gb is not error?
sd card and card reader in phone is very Weak..
Update on progress
I have now checked the card using hdtune and reformatted it twice. hdtune detected no errors at any time.
I also purchased a usb sdhc card reader specifically. Just in case my built in readers were malfunctioning, but that has not solved the problem either.
I can transfer the files to the card. I can even read and access the files on the card on my computer. However, when I put the card into the phone, but files are not there, and the file folders are empty. Then, when I put the card back into my computer the files are gone.
I found this link on another forum with the same problem. While it is comforting to know that I am not the only one with this problem, I am still looking for a solution. Has anyone found one?
Found the problem!
I downloaded the H2test and used it to test my card. hdtune and windows did not discover the problems with the card, but this program did.
Apparently I purchased a 2gb card that was labeled as a 32gb card. The packaging and printing on the card all look like a legitimate Kingston class 4 32 gb sd card, but the actual card only has 2 gb capacity.
Apparently, the card tricked my windows computers by writing an index for all of the files I was transferring but only actually transferring up to 2 gb of data. That is why I could read some of the files on my phone, but not others.
If you are having similar problems, I would highly recommend this program!
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/H2testw.shtml
Thanks to all who tried to help me, your suggestions were very helpful!
so the card is fake 32gb but only have 2gb.why hdtune error full scan can not find it?
Hey guys, I'm going nuts over what I'm doing wrong. I'm trying to encode some MKVs and AVIs to MP4 so that I can copy them to my SDCard to play on my transformer.
I've tried using the guide and the presets offered in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060825
but nothing I encode will play on the Transformer. I've tried with RockPlayer, MoboPlayer, and the native player and they all say they cannot open the file. I know it's not the Transformer or the SDCard because another video I downloaded already in MP4 format plays perfectly. What am I missing????
Edit: Forgot to mention, the videos that I encode play perfectly fine on my computer.
I don't know why I didn't do this before but I copied some of the "non-working" MP4 files to the internal memory of the Transformer and it plays. Anyone have any ideas as to why these converted MP4 files won't play off my SDCard?
I do have an MP4 movie on my SDCard and it plays so I know my SDCard is functional. Just for kicks, I encoded these new movies to be smaller than my working movie and still nothing.....my head is getting lumps from banging it on the table lol...
mine play fine off my class 10 pny microsd
Thats odd, maybe it has something to do with the sdcard being fat32. I have no idea.
What class is your card? and are you using an SD Card or micros SD?
I'm using a 32gb PNY class 4 microSD. I also pulled the 16gb SanDisk from my phone and I'm running into the same thing......I give up lol...
It looks like a read speed issue. Borrow one from a friend, maybe one with a higher class

Whilst I wouldn't discount the card itself, the class of the SD card is purely about write speed anyway. FWIW, I've been using Sandisk 16gb class 2 cards in my Android devices for a couple of years now, and never had a speed issue - the read speed is generally around 20mbps, and a write speed of 6mbps (well above the class minimum).
Regards,
Dave
Strange. I have dozens of mp4 videos on my mSD card and they play fine. The card is a 32GB class 2 Sandisk. I just select the card from the well on the bottom of the screen and open one of the .mp4 files. I assume that it launches the stock video player.
FWIW, all of my files are from regular DVDs, not from Blu-ray disks.
Thanks for the replies guys.
While continuing my troubleshooting of this. What I did is pulled the card out and reformatted it as Fat32. While I had the card still in my card reader, I copied all my files back onto it. What I noticed is that after I placed the card back into the Transformer, 1/2 of my directories were missing. It looks like they were moved to the LOST.DIR folder.
I'm not too familiar with Linux but from googling, it looks like the LOST.DIR is a folder that the Transformer would move "corrupted" files during the scan of the SD Card. I'm leaning towards a faulty card. Since I just flashed the ROM on my phone, I don't have too much information on my SD Card there. I guess I'll pull the SD Card from my phone and test on my Transformer for a couple of days. If it proves to be my SD Card, I guess I'll try to get a refund or a replacement. If it is my SD Card, lesson learned, don't buy SD Cards from eBay.....spend the extra $15 from a reliable source.....
Thanks again for all the replies guys. I'll update this thread again after I figure out what it is in case someone else runs into this issue in the future.
Try copying the movie file to the Movies folder on the integrated 16GB flash and see if it works. I just watched a 720p movie from it with no problems. I have only a 4GB micro SD so movies don't fit on it(combined with my offline gps files)
How large are the files that you're trying to play from the microSD?
