Ankuch's ICS Build 15 - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I've been using this rom via sd and i can say is the best build i've used so far. Dont know why i had so many problems using tytung's v1.3 if both roms are based on tytung's work. Anyway, i just want to thank everyone on this as they have given life to my hd2 again and again. I have a tmous hd2 with stock sd card and am not able to use portadroid4.0 to port ics nand roms. I have tried using different sense roms as i like sense, but have had the same loading time issues, is there any build you would recommend?
I know i have written different topics as one thing. Feel free to move where it needs to be, mod.

HD2 android ROMS

Are there ROMS avaliable or just SD Card boot for the HD2, if there is a ROM, can I have one as similiar to the EVO as possible?
Thanks
This might be moved to Android dev general... But it's a good question, the roms are made from the desire hd, is this because it is a gsm android?
I would like to see a evo rom on my hd2, if possible...
A NAND rom is not yet available.... I believe we will have one soon.... September if I'm not mistaken
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
correct, not sure why we don't have any evo roms, but yes, nand should be working next month.
The quick answer is yes and no.
The long answer begins like this: There are a lot of roms on here ready to be loaded into your SD card and started. There isn't any that can be flashed to NAND yet.

this needs to be in general section

Try out the shubcraft rom. This is not a desire or nexus one build. You end up with HTC HD2 in your info section. I believe this is because it builds its own files on first startup. This also allows the build to have a download size of about 80mb only.

Best ROM to install on HD2

Hi
I will be getting an HTC HD2 in a few days and I am planning on loading the Android Froyo OS, and will be using it as my main system.
But looking through all those threads, I am stuck as to where to begin.
I need to find the latest and best NAND ROM for the HD2, since I intend to do all this hopefully just one time.
I would appreciate any guides that would get me rolling in the right direction.
thanks
Personal opinion
Hi,
I have tried many ROM till now, infact mostly all the ROMs. The best for my purpose ( since I am a heavy user ) is HyperDroidGingerbreadV1.2.
Benefits:-
1. Tweeked
2. Super Speed
3. Battery saver
4. Nice UI
5. Very responsive.
PS: Do give it a try.
I suggest you go to the forum and just read. You will find lots of tutorials on how to install and tweak the roms. You will find multiple roms and each has unique features. What I have done, and what I suggest for you, is just tried a bunch of different roms to see what works best for me. Try them all and see what you like the most. Part of the fun of having the HD2 is all the different things you can do with it.

Heres my top 3... Everything works low battery drain
1. JDMS based on the newest android ginger super fast with lots of options Tmobile ready link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782301

This question/topic is frowned upon on XDA simply because its asked over and over again and there is no real answer as its subjective.
What is "best" for one person isnt always "best" for another and you may experience problems that another person didnt on his hardware.
There is no point in just asking what is the best one to install, The best thing you can do is to go read some guides etc, research as much info as you can and then try various roms until you find one that you like best or works best for YOU.
Do I need to still have windows on the phone to be able to install Android, or can it be done on its own?
Depends if you're installing a ROM or NAND.
ROMs install on your media card and require WinMo to boot the phone, NANDS replace WinMo.
Note that ROMs and NANDs are located in different sections of the forum.

You can install SD builds or NAND builds. SD builds are just copied to your SD card and you boot them from within Windows, but NAND builds replace Windows. Both types of build are ROMs.
I would prefer the NAND ROMS. I really don't like windows at all.
Can't find the guide to help me do the NAND install.

Nay, dear sir. A ROM refers to software flashed to internal memory, whilst a build refers to software installed on an SD card.
Unfortunately a lot of people ignore or are not aware of this convention, but it's a pretty important one to prevent confusion.

Thanks for the correction, but actually ROM is the chip that the build is flashed onto (in the case of NAND). They're all builds, regardless of location
We could be stuck in an endless debate here, because these terms have different kinds of meanings. ROM is also often used as an abbreviation of ROM image, i.e. a image of the firmware on a read-only memory chip (ROM chip). This means that it would be valid to call NAND firmware ROM, and invalid to call SD firmware ROM since it's not meant for read-only memory.
While strictly speaking it is indeed correct to call NAND firmware a build, there has been made a convention (I suppose this is HD2 specific) to keep them seperated.

Casemandan, did I miss something? I have been browsing the JDMS thread for a few days, but don't see how it is "T-Mobile ready." In particular, I'm looking for MMS that comes in the same quality as the sense T-Mobile ready builds. Read a few tips but quality is still sacrificed upon receiving for all gingerbread ROMs I've tried.

Hello and thanks to all.
According to title of this thread , I need a NAND ROM which has a file manger and support Persian language.
Any suggestion ?
Best regards.
To my opinion is it to wait for a stabe gingerbread or (maybe) Honeycomb NAND rom, isnt it?
Thank mate...
i think best rom for hd2 is cyanogen mod7 v2.6 that is android 2.3.2
I like the MIUI build. It has a few hiccups, but great. Love this than the other builds.

[Q] Some ROM Suggestions, please.

Hi,
I had flashed a near stock NAND ROM but was constrained on space. Then tried out an SD ROM, still works well, but found it too slow for comfort
Could anyone please suggest a stable, working, daily use (with everything working) NAND ROM with:
1. HTC Sense
2. A2SD
3. Daemon Controller (preferable).
4. Working camcorder and camera without lags.
Believe me, spent a lot of time searching.
I don't care too much about the themes, the stock HTC are good enough for me.
Thanks,
jiggyk
P.S.: If someone could suggest a stable and fast SD ROM having the above (without #2, of course), that too would do and I would be thankful.

All GB Sense ROMs have camcorder bugs, unfortunately, so I don't think there are any ROMs which don't have this. Unless, of course, Froyo Sense is good enough for you. I've found Froyo Sense to be fast, smooth and stable. I would also recommend trying a CM7 ROM (e.g. Typhoon/Hyperdroid) as these are very fast, and can be themed to look like Sense.

Thank You for your prompt reply.
My preference for HTC sense is primarily because it nicely links my facebook, whatsapp, etc. contacts and shows mobile numbers and email addresses of facebook friends far and near who I did not have in my contacts list hitherto.
However, these ROMS you have suggested, do they have A2SD built in? I am also assuming that the camcorder bugs are in the ROMs with sense. Is that correct??
Regards,
jiggyk
try pyramid rom by langthang,or the 1st haldric rom,u av no need to worry about glitches fix lol as he's the guy who fixes them lol,but at the min im using rcmicx3d rom

To answer your questions, yes (I think) and yes.
For stable version you can try Nexus One Rom by Tytung. The base is ligther and the rom is smooth but other rom also has its advantage.

Thanks for your reply, I went through the ROMs you suggested.
The pyramid ROM, you mean version 8.0 on this page, right? Version 9.0 is not pyramid based
Any idea if this ROM is based on Android 2.2 or 2.3??

pyramid 8se should do u fine,v9.0 may have alot more bugs etc,but there's no reason why u shouldn't try haldric rom or RCMix3D rom, that's what im using at the min but will be going back to haldric's rom when he updates it next

as far as im aware, but im using v4.0,not all apps can go to sd though, its the only prob i can't work out.......e.g: when using pyramid rom with a2sd,i downloaded facebook for android, went to settings and moved it to sd card, now the rom im using has a2sd also cos i go to sd-ext folder and all my downloaded apps are there, but facebook is not possible to move via settings, but if no joy i came across a free app in the market called Link2SD AND ALL THE APPS I CAN'T MOVE VIA APPLICATION/SETTINGS I CAN MOVE USING LINK2SD.........so i'm 1 happy guy lol
also,if u wait till tomorrow,he says 4.1 is being released with glitches fix and less bugs, but have a play with this version,if u like it,download v4.1 when released(fri)
if you want sense with everything working and i mean a camcorder at 800x480 rather than 320 then you will be looking at a froyo based rom not a gingerbread rom
personally i have moved from a sense rom to a miui rom and changed to go launcher ex and am more than happy with it, its alot faster than sense
Team Blue Droid have produced an excellent sense 3.5 Rom which looks the business and works far better than many others I have flashed recently on mh EU HD2. I am not that technically minded regarding SD card partition types, but I run mine via SD card after flasing a 1024 partition using CMR and the accompanying DAF.exe.
From reading many threads I understand camcorder is less than perfect on most roms at highest res.

there will be no more versions released after 2.2,i had every version lol and 1 of the developers told me that they wouldn't be making any more but if they did,it would just be for themselves and not for the public

Thanks for your inputs, everyone!
I had the same problem of all apps not going through to the SD, and the remaining memory would not go over 25-30MB at any time, with a near stock Froyo ROM. (Yes, it is a very fast and stable sense ROM). I think I'll take your advice and wait for 4.1 and then see how it goes, will download it over the weekend. Also this Link2SD thing looks interesting!!
The Team Blue ROM looks very impressive indeed, what with the Daemon Controller and all, but, going through the forum, many have had glitches with the wifi, network, etc. I thought I'd wait for this ROM to settle, but now that you say that they aren't making any more.......

Porting nand roms to sd..whats the easiest way?

Hi guys, been searching about this but without success, i have wp in nand and use Android from sd, but now i would like to create my own sd builds, would like to start with nand builds as reference, i've been using portadroid but is efective only with sense builds, and only a few of them, the other roms get mounted in ram and it always bring me problems .. any advice is apreciated ..
Thanks.

I thought it was only DFT Stock Desire build which wasn't rooted, but it seems I'm wrong. Well logically you could just move to a new ROM I guess, MCCM HD is a very good rooted SD Froyo/Sense ROM IMO
But of course I'm not sure how you would back up your data seeing as Titanium Backup and other similar apps all require root, and the data.img cannot be swapped between builds.
Also, have you considered switching to a NAND ROM? Bit off-topic but I just thought I would recommend it
I have been on nand for ages, but it's always slower than sd. Anywayzz that wasn't my question, exactly
I just want to know if it is possible. Sd builds are always faster on my hd2.

is there not an app on the market that gains root access with a simple one click? or am i thinking INSIDE the box?
Try searching for Superuser-3.0.7-efgh-signed.zip and flash it via recovery. But be aware.. Im not sure if it works for your build. It does for mine.
Or use SuperOneClick.
Btw.. NAND slower then SD builds? Haha, very funny. The reading times were sometimes horrible slow. Especiallly installing multiple app from market and so on. Get a nand like hyperdroid and you are fine.
Nice day
