Try it and let us know.
The Android Development section is a sacred place where developers and some testers brainstorm on how to further the Android Experience in a substantial way.
The Q/A or General section is where you can ask about using a specific kernel for your device. But first make sure to search to make sure the question hasn't been asked already.

OK sorry to intrude..
Mods please move
OP, u created ridiculous questions; how to install windows xp in android?, can we flash galaxy nexus kernel in kindle fire?; etc... this world is not easy as u think
why dont you cut the guy a break he is obviously new to all this and there is no point in bashing him.
OP as for your question kernels are device specific and need to be built for that device. So no you can't flash a nexus kernel to a kindle. If you do some searching you should be able to find a good kernel built for what you need. good luck and happy flashing

Thank you... yes I am new to android in general.. I did not know that about kernels. I will stop asking stupid questions now
Its cool man unasked questions never get answers. Don't let people get to you keep asking questions and keep learning.

hey guys brandon back again not here though cause xda would not let me post in dev. until i posted 10 generals not a fan of that rule however..... i am currently running stock 3.1 with build hmj37_us_epad-8.4.4.5-20110527 and my kernal is 2.6.36.3-00001-gf377a2b i am not sure if all of the number are important but i want to make sure i do and ask this correctly i am trying to root with cwm with custom rom i have been seeing that i have to downgrade to 3.0.1 to get root is there anyway around that possible one click root or whatever and another thing is this prosedure reversiable, sorry for so many questions i really want to do this right cause this is one of these situation where i can't just turn my bricked device back to asus like i did with sprint many times just to get a newer phone. any links and advise would be helpful thanks guys
The reason xda doesn't let you post here before you get 10 post is to avoid some irrelevant post like this one in this section. It has nothing to do with android developmen, it should be in general. And for your question read and search a little there are many threads about it. For exemple the thread about WIP of one click root in this section, so there is none yet.

Wrong. There is a one-click root. Use NVFlash.
Not really one-click because you have to set up the drivers, but after you do that. You're pretty much golden. Just set TF101 in APX mode and then double click download.bat
ok what about a general adb root running 3.1 i can't seems to find anything specific to that current version they seem to be general rooting methods

because it is general, NVFlash works regardless of android version. this is why they don't let you post here until 10 posts
can you send me the link please and adb i have never really used that before is there a link for that, drivers is that on asus.com is there a specific driver i should be looking for like name specific thanks what about cmw?
Google android adb.
Searching is fundamental.

It's all in the dev sections what you need to get root. search NVflash
Does anyone know how to partition the Xoom so I could say put about 10gb for another Linux Distro instead of just running it as a "live cd".
I want to also put BlackBuntu on here thats why but be able to run it full not just through a VM.
Thnx
You should ask this in the development section. Might get an answer quicker.

I know but since its not anything dev and a question it doesn't belong there
No,you shouldn't ask this in the dev section. The dev section IS NOT for threads of questions of any kind.
OP, I am pretty sure the way you are doing it is the only way ATM.

And thats why I posted it here n dam ok, I wanna install crap but if reboots don't want to have to do it all over again... Thanks. Thinking if i can just partition 10gb to it would be perfect for installs and such.
Not to threadjack but I have a question myself. I installed Ubuntu running through VNC and I'm missing my browser. How do I get my browser? What is the difference between the version I installed in the dev section and the version you are trying to install?
My version of Linux is Pentest where they are just wanting "vanilla" Ubuntu. Mine has extra things included in it.

Please excuse my arrogance but now that you have decided that you WANT a dev to get the job done for you am sure you must have decided how much you are gonna pay them like salary u know.
Dont get offended do some reading there is already a sense 4.0 WIP thread by Sabryn and why I am being so nasty well read the last few lines of my signature
If you're patient and wait for a few days then shaky will port it himself
Also, this post be posted to General and Q&A Forum, not here.
Thread moved to proper forum.
Thankx Mr. Clown. I jus had to say it. You understand right.
I just want to make sure everything worked. I followed the thread by Civato as best I could, I have a new bootloader and recovery installed and running ICS.
I downloaded an app called: Acer Recovery Installer, it tells me I have the following installed:
0.03.14-MUL
Rom is stock ICS:
Acer_AV01_A500_1.041.00_WW_CUS1 --(build #)
Acer_AV01_A500_RV06RC01_WW_CUS1 --(image ver.)

Welcome to DEV. You may not realize it , but this board is for dev work only. Honestly, have you even read the rules? Maybe you have issues categorizing things..
Any who, if it says iconia tab a500 as a boot logo, then you have it.
Calm down guys it was the OP's mistake let's not bully them :L
OP: yes it is the wrong section
Everyone else: calm down
Mod: please move topic.

Maybe I'm blind, but I can't find a list anywhere.
I'm looking for decent open source roms with very few issues to download. I've been on stock touchwiz forever and want to give real android a go.
I can't find an n9005 CM, aokp, or any other variant. And any that I do find the thread is locked by the devs request.
Can someone name 2 or 3 roms for me to look at and I'll decide on one please.

There is no maybe. You are definitely blind if you can't find AOSP roms in the N9005 DEV section.

^^^^^^^^^^^EXACTLY this!!!!! It should not come as a surprise, then, if more experienced users and devs stay away and newbies are complaining about nobody helping them if they are even too lazy to browse through the forums, use the search function and start reading by themselves!
Ugh. I asked in the appropriate section. No need for the dickhead attitude. Either the threads have been closed or the rom has some crippling bug.
So instead of wasting both our time, please either answer the question or leave my thread. I've helped enough people to get away with this question. I can't sink as much time into my phone as I once could now I have a steady job.
Stop whining. Of course your question makes you look lazy. If you can't filter out the few AOSP roms in the dev section...
This is spoon feeding at its finest.

OP go to the development forums. Look for AOSP ROM's. Simples.
