Hello everyone....
1st part:
For users with 0.02 kabaldan's releases........
To all users who want to install my THEME:
I strongly recomment to use the latest version of OpenRecovery made by colaianni.andrea and Luca.dimaio1 HERE.
From now and on i will release my theme as two (2) XXXXXXXXX.zip files....
So there will be two(2) .zip files with modified apps:
1) The first .zip file will be the same name as kabaldan names his releases (f.e. update-cm-6.1.0-RC0-Milestone-signed-2010-10-02.zip).
2) The second .zip file will be the latest google apps modified by me (f.e gapps-hdpi-20100930-signed.zip).
So lets begin:
Download .zip files:
1) Kabaldan's latest release (Modified by me - see screenshots at the and of this post, except the notification bar color and the color of the fonts in notification bar, as you can choose your own color combinations from Settings - CyanogenMod settings - User Inteface).
2) Latest Googles Apps (Modified by me - see screenshots at the and of this post, except the notification bar color and the color of the fonts in notification bar, as you can choose your own color combinations from Settings - CyanogenMod settings - User Inteface).
Put these two(2) .zip files you downloaded to /sdcard/OpenRecovery/updates.
Then reboot into OpenRecovery made by colaianni.andrea and Luca.dimaio1 and follow the next 2 steps:
1) Wipe dalvik-cache and Wipe cache.
2) Apply the two(2) .zip files you downloaded from Update menu.
That's it.......
Reboot and enjoy !!!!!

2nd part:
For users before 0.02 kabaldan's releases........
I made a theme for our Milestone (ONLY FOR CyanogenMod 0.01c for Milestone made by kabaldan HERE)
To install my theme you will need OpenRecovery v1.2 by Azhad that you can download from HERE...
First Do A Nandroid Backup Just In Case...
So you can download my theme from HERE...
Mirror in multiupload.com HERE...
In .zip file you will find 3 folders (apps, CMTheme and framework).
Take all the .apk from my apps folder and put them in /sdcard/OpenRecovery/azhad/theme/apps
Take framework-res.apk file from my framework folder and put it in /sdcard/OpenRecovery/azhad/theme/framework
Take the forder CMTheme and put it as it is in root of your sdcard
Then reboot your Milestone in Recovery mode and from Azhad's OpenRecovery go to Theme menu - Install Theme to install my Theme...
Then restart your phone. When your phone reboots, go settings - CyanogenMod settings - User interface - Tweaks extras - Select a theme and select kalagas.
Then restart again your phone.... and here you are with my theme....
I have to say that i' ve changed almost every icon in a lot of .apks (which can you see in screenshots) and almost every icon in framework-res.apk. So you understand that it took me a lot lot time to finish my work....
For full screenshots please go HERE...
To see a small sample here is some screenshots:
I don't have any kind of responsibility if something happens to your Phone...

Rapidshare?
Please use multiupload.com
And for the zip file, if you make a zip with all the files in the right folder, there is no need for the user to copy the files manually, but just unzip in the root of the sdcard.
[Start zip]
/CMTheme
/OpenRecovery/azhad/theme/framework
/OpenRecovery/azhad/theme/apps
[End Zip]

It's not so difficult for anyone, I think, to copy the files manually...
As for multiupload.com when I am at home I will add a mirror...
Edit: Done. Now you have an multiupload link to download my theme....
yea, you're right, the problem solved, and its good work!
I'm glad that it was so easy to solve your issue.... Tell me your impressions about my theme....
after i apply this theme, when i put my milestone on the dock, it will mount the sd card to computer automatically, any way not to mount everytime?
I think you must change the mount to "charge only", wait to prepare the sdcard and then remove your phone from dock...
Then every time you put your phone to dock, i think it will be in "charge only" mode....
Dumb question I know.. but I'll take it this can be put on the Droid 2 since its in the Droid 2 section right?
No it's "Motorola Droid and Milestone Themes" section....
Both Droid and Milestone....
My badddd. Im def in the wrong section!
nice, problem solved,
overall its a very good theme
@kalagas
Sorry mate, I should have told you before: when we included eclair in the recovery I changed the folders for the themes, now they are in:
/sdcard/OpenRecovy/theme/eclair/
/sdcard/OpenRecovy/theme/froyo/
You should use the froyo folder, inside you will find the usual app, framework, bootanimation and font folders

As you can see in first post I changed the way my theme is installing. I made 2 separate .zip files, one for Rom and one for Google apps. And both .zip files go in OpenRecovery/updates folder and apply them from your OpenRecovery Update menu....
I think it's easier this way, don't you think?

Can this work with ROM "alpha 0.03-10.10.27][27 oct 2010]CyanogenMod 6 " semms dose not work with this rom!
Thanks!
Not yet.... If you see in description you will see it's only until 0.02 releases...
But soon i will theme the 0.03 releases too....
hey guys,
just curious if you could some how choose what you want to have in the theme and if you can mix themes, if so how? for example i installed epic unleashed 2.5 and i loved the battery indicator and i installed the 982dark theme for the droid 2 and it's great with a couple exceptions... personally I think i'm going back to the Kangerade Blue for the Droid2 but i still want the original battery indicator from the epic rom.
thanks

As far as I know, we don't have this level of customizability on D2 as of now. However, we are starting to see this. Like this, for example:
http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=784855
I used to use a ROM for the old Touch CDMA that did in fact have this level of customizability - there was a thread that had pretty much every individual piece available to customize. But again, I haven't seen this for D2 yet.
damn... ok well hopefully we get there eventually... until then I'll just stick with the theme I overall like the best lol
I have this problem with themes too, and the solution is simple. Take the theme that you are going to install, open the zip, and just remove the apps, fonts, or framework you don't want altered.
For example, I despise the font changes alot of themes force on you. Makes my twitter streams unreadable, so I just open the zip, and delete the fonts folder. That way it won't override the stock fonts. I've never tried deleting individual files, but that method should work for icons as well.
Just open the framework.res (rename the .res to .zip or .rar if you have WINRAR installed, or just use the "open with or choose default program" option) goto the res folder, then drawable-hdpi and just delete the battery images from the folder before you install the theme.
An easy way to do this, is to make a copy of the zip first so you'll have a proper version of the theme to view. Open it up with winzip, WINRAR or whatever archiving tool you use on your computer. Then browse the files in thumbnail view to find the images you want to get rid of. Make a note of their file names, then open up the other zip, locate the files in question, right click, delete em.
I'm not quite understanding what you're saying Natty
For example, right now I'm using the Revolution Remix theme. If I unzip it, there are 2 folders: META-INF and system.
Under system there are 3 folders: app, fonts, and framework. In the framework file there are 2 .apk files (framework-res.apk and blur-res.apk) and the systems.jar file.
In the app folder there are all .apk files, and the font folders are all .ttf
I'm not seeing any pictures to be deleted, unless you mean to actually delete the respective app .apk files (for example, I dislike the Talk app icon and the Market app icon)
Edit:
So I guess you're supposed to just rename the .apk to .zip, but for some reason the files are not allowing me...Could these files be locked? (I don't know if that's a stupid question or not lol)
Edit #2:
So I got 7zip (yay for google), but when I go to open the .png files they don't want to open...an application opens to view them, but it just sits there saying "loading"

I'm not sure if that would work for png files inside of framework-res.apk.... I would think that would cause a bootloop
It will work for the fonts folder and for any app you dont want to get altered in /system/app.
So just remove the app from the system/app folder? That's what I'm somewhat confused about.

If you dont want a themed app to overwrite your current app, then just delete the apk file from /system/app inside of the themed zip file. Or if you dont want a themed font to overwrite ur current font, then just delete the fonts folder inside of the themed zip file.
But deleting files from inside the framework-res.apk... I doubt that would work.
Any idea how to edit the Market? It's not under system/app.
Edit: Never mind, didn't know "market" was actually vending.
removing the png specifically will cause an issue however if you have another png that you would like you use you can just replace this and it will not overwrite then.

So did the install go smoothly without the M logo freeze or bootloops? I hope so.
I'm Glad others came to pick up my pieces, lol. That's why this forum is so great. To summarize for those joining the party late, just take the .png's from another theme, and replace the unwanted images with those. Don't just delete them
It's working fine, no reboots or stuck in boot loop or anything. Didn't even need to wipe data / cache.
Now if I could just figure out a way to remove the font they used from just the browser and my apps and nothing else (b/c it looks really nice in the notification bar, the menus, on the widgets, etc. but makes reading email or reading stuff in the browser really difficult) I'd be golden.
So I started removing one font at a time, nothing changed.
So I removed the whole fonts folder, and still didn't get any change in the fonts in the theme.
Ideas?
Thats exactly why I got rid of it. What good is a font that you can't read? I'm not sure if you can just remove it from the statusbar specifically.
Remember, removing them prevents it from changing the fonts that are currently installed. So if they're already different, then they'll just stay that way when you install the edited version of the theme. You're gonna need to flash to the stock theme first, then flash to another theme (like the NexTheme for example) with all the edits that you made.
I see, so those files in the fonts folder aren't actually fonts. They're more like...where the fonts you want get stored. So you need to actually replace the file.
From what I've figured out, the majority of the fonts are derived from DroidSans. If you change that, you change most of the fonts including those in the apps, widgets, etc. So is there no way to specifically change a font in, lets say, apps vs. widgets? And what are all those other files in the fonts folder for
I have no idea. I just deleted the whole folder prior to installing to ensure I kept all stock fonts.
As shocking as it may seem I want some blur on my phone! Im currently running gummy 2.5 but after using blur for a couple of months i miss the messaging, email, alarm, camera, sticky note widget and most importantly the icons! is there anyway for me to get any of this back? I tried installing the apks but to no avail. I think I could do with just the icons. Any advice? Thanks!
They won't install like normal apks to the best of my knowledge. You seem to have all of the APKs though from blur so try one of these methods, not 100% sure it will work but it likely should. (Edit: I'm not entirely sure what you are talking about with the icons, but this should help you get the APKs you want back)
REMEMBER TO BACKUP EVERYTHING BEFORE DOING EITHER OF THESE!
1) Download the empty InstallAPKs.zip from this post.
2) Open the archive in 7z or winrar
3) Navigate to system/app and put all the APKs you wan't to install into the zip (just drag them into the archive and let it add/update them. I'd have stuck them in the zip for you but I don't have any blur apks with me)
4) Reboot recovery and install the zip
or
1) You could manually go into the system folder and replace the apks using root explorer. Remember to set permissions to 644 for each file you replace if doing this.
I patched a copy of the Mms.apk to remove the green bars behind the contact photo.
Tested with CodeROM NexusAce and CodeROMv2, should work CodeROMv1.
Note:
Skins feature is disabled.
Instructions:
1. Download the modified Mms.apk (Attached file)
2. Make a backup of your old Mms.apk in /system/app (Use Root Explorer).
3. Mount /system/app as R/W
3. Copy the modified Mms.apk to /system/app
4. Set the permissions to ---rwxr-x
5. Chane the file owner and group to 0 - root
6. Reboot
7. Hit the Thanks button if it worked
Update:
- Smaller file size.
Maybe i can help or give you an idea:
1. The Skin Option in menu is activated via the preferences.xml included in the MMS.apk file (you can copy from XXKPE, and try to install the MMS.apk, however whatever skin you select it does not change) which i think you need to do the next part.
2. The actual implementation of the skin is under the coding of classes.dex, which i dont know how to decompile.
thanks, it works
i will be waiting for the update for the skins
worked for me!
Thanks a lot!

thanks for this, can't get past this one though...
I found out that there must have been a miss declaration of an image res file in the class.dex or in the Mms.apk's before compiling. Its calling progressbar_indeterminate4.png instead of quickcontact_badge_small_unpressed.9.png or quickcontact_badge_unpressed.9.png from the /system/framework/framework-res.apk file.
Updated the first post.
- Smaller file size.
- Still no support for skins [May not be updated to support this feature. Sorry]
help!!
after reboot message icon in now inside menu and gone in the launcher, however the green thing is gone.
now there are only 3 icons in launcher ( keypad, contacts, menu )
update:
thanks i got fixed it myself, btw it is working but no skins.

The problem is in the classes.dex of the apk.
I copied a properly working classes.dex from another version of the Mms.apk and patched the res files to match the appearance of CodeROM's Mms.apk. But the new classes.dex either does not support the skin features or there is something in conflict.
As mentioned by vertcam9, preferences.xml activates the skin selection in the settings part of the app, but does not apply any changes whatever skin is selected. Proper classes.dex is necessary.
Hi guys, I'm giving up on CyanogenMod. It is slimmer but it has more problems on Galaxy Note 10.1. If you have answer concerning the SDCard problem, please reply to my topic there.
Anyway, still I want to trim all those bloatwares from my device, so I did couple of researches, combining articles and tutorials on trimming roms on other devices (Note 1, 2, 3 and some other devices like sony)
The result? So far it's pretty stable and functional. Phone, bluetooth, wifi, sms, video call, stylus pressure sensitivity etc, all working just fine.
I also had several games, emulators and some graphic apps installed and running without any problem. No crashes so far.
I'll report more if there's anything came up. But I'm pretty happy with it now.
Might work on other tab/note variants too. So here it is :
1. Root your stock, using any method you want (I'm using Odin + ClockworkMod + CF-Auto-Root)
2. Use root file explorer of your choice and delete everything (or you can add .old extension if you had doubts, or maybe everyone's favorite, using freeze in Titanium Backup) in system/app EXCEPT THESE :

If you find any similar spreadsheet for other devices (Sony, HTC, or Motorola and probably even chinese handsets), or minimalist custom ROMs, please let me know, so I can do further comparison, and fetching more infos on the apks. Might just as well create a universal list for it. If I get my hands on new handsets, I'll probably do this too.
Note, from my list above, I deleted SamsungIME.apk (the default keyboard) so if you're doing factory reset you won't be able to type anything. I have myself a hardware keyboard to do the intial setups and such. But after that I used SwiftKey for my daily needs.
If you don't have any hardware keyboard at your disposal, leave it. You can delete it after you installed 3rd party keyboard.
I removed camera (SamsungCamera.apk) as well since I didn't use it much on my tablet. You can leave it if you want to, or use third party apps for it.
For the browser, I installed Chrome afterwards, since it have much more features compared to the stock/built in browser.
As for the multimedia player I use MXPlayerPro, fetched from Google Play as well
With this setup, from 345 apks/odexes I'm left with only about 78 apks/odexes. And it feels blazing fast.
that's 267 bloatwares/junks within your device, even if it's not coming from some service provider (OEM)
From 1 gb space used in factory settings to about 200 mb.

I'm not responsible if you bricked your device. Proceed carefully.
Cheers, enjoy and hope this help.
Thanks for the bloatware list, it's gonna be useful ^^
You're welcome. Be aware the list of the APK above is NOT listing the bloatwares.
Those are the ones you should LEAVE ALONE.
Additional guide :
Adding third party apps as default system app
As noted above, I've removed SamsungIME.apk, which is the default samsung keyboard (which I hated much, with passion) and replaced it with SwiftKey.
What you'll need :
ES File Explorer
Zip tool; could be Winzip or Winrar on PC, or I use ZArchiver for Android
Purchased apps are stored as .asec in /data/app-private. Using ES File Explorer app backup feature, you can save it as .apk and install it like common apps.
Step-by-step instruction :
After you backed up the purchased apps, uninstall the old (google play installed) one.
Open the newly created apk using zip or zarchiver, you'll find "lib" folder.
Copy the content of "lib" folder (usually with .so extension) to system/lib folder in your device.
Set the copied .so file permission to rw-r--r-- (chmod 644 if you use terminal)
Install the apk like usual using apk installer
find the new installed apk in data/app folder and copy it to system/app folder
set the copied .apk file within system/app folder permission to rw-r--r-- (chmod 644)
The app should become system app and will stay within your device even if a factory reset was done.
Tested on SwiftKey, Delver, ES File Explorer, etc. Doesn't work with MXPlayerPro (let me know if you had success with MXPlayerPro)

Aftermath, background processes and battery consume list. Also attached RemoveMultiWindowIcon.zip (flash it using ClockWorkMod if you hate the multiwindow icon).
I installed dropbox and swiftkey, so if you did a factory reset, you'll only left with 2 active background processes at most (excluding SystemUI and Android core, of course)
Also, list of apk/odex updated, with SecTabletAlarmClock_P4NOTE.apk, ContextAwareService.apk, SecDownloadProviderUi.apk removed, along with their odexes. No problem so far.
SecDownloadProviderUi.apk didn't do anything significant. I rebooted after I removed it, downloading google play still working fine and still give me some progress bar on the download.
However, I've lost the "downloads" icon, which means I cannot clean up the logs, and may be cluttered over time.
Edit :
A full day running the super slim tablet :
Running CSR Racing, Delver, Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, TrueSculpt and Google Drive/QuickOffice and tons of other apps without any problem.
MTP detected flawlessly and can send files from my computer through USB without problem.
Wifi internet run without problem, browsing from tablet work marvelously and also mobile data working properly.
Battery obviously last MUCH longer.
Found out that CSC.apk (after first boot/factory reset) and Personalisation.apk (not sure what it does, maybe had something to do with ringtones and wallpapers) are safe to remove. Can anyone confirm this? I've did a full unroot on my device. Well those two are minor, now that you're left with about 40 apks from 170 default apks (78 and 340 if you count the odex files). I think deleting them won't do much now. But just curious, whether they are safe to delete or not.
Also google docs updated
Tested removing these :
BadgeProvider.apk - those badges on the app icon which displayed numbers of received messages/notifications. No crashes removing this.
CSC.apk - Can be removed after first boot. Not sure what it do.
Personalization.apk - said to be safe to remove, and so far it is. Not sure what it do.
NetworkLocation.apk - provide GPS location through Wifi, didn't use GPS on my tablet anyway
Keystring_DFT.apk - contains sets of USSD codes
Keystring_factory.apk - contains sets of USSD codes
Keystring_misc.apk - contains sets of USSD codes
No errors/crashes or anything. Updated first post.
Updated OP, now that I can post links, also added original threads.
Enjoy guys.

Will update the doc. Thanks for the suggestion. Probably I'll compile something like blackviper's sheet.
