You make this sound good! The TI-OMAP processor has no advantages compared to Exynos, and we are going to get more people with bricked phones because they flashed a GT-i9100 ROM on their GT-i9100G.
Why anybody would call it v2 is beyond me.
The oonly positive on this is better battery life and less heating up, the GPU is much lower powered though

It's definitely I9100G.
You can see on the page: GT-I9100LKGDBT
This letter is A for I9100, G for I9100G.
But yeah, as armanderli said, they have already started selling I9100G in France (since January). It's becoming harder and harder to find an I9100.
I guess they're only shipping I9100G to Europe now.

People who plan to buy this ****ty G variant will feel 57up!d! Slower GPU for the same price as for non G. Don't be fooled by Samsung. They never tells us clearly that they had released the SGS2 v2 aka GT-i9100G.

I guess it's more of a techno commercial aspect to the company's decision. When the G device shares the same platform of galaxy nexus its very easy for them to unify the product line. Also about the custom rom, I feel ICS will get much faster ported to G version because of platform and the custom development will kick in rapidly.
Sent from my GT-I9100G using Tapatalk
I got my I9100G through internet shopping and I didn't know there is different versions for I9100 until I fired up the phone and start. Cause not that much data about G versions from Samsung around. Also box is the same. Just a little "G" placed back and bottom of the box. I can clearly say its not that much difference about performance or other things. Gpu is 300 mhz its right but SGX540 is a lot compatible with games than mali400. Cpu 1.2 dual same OMAP but its working 1008 mhz which is perfectly goes up 1200 mhz with oc. My official 2.3.6 rom's quadrant score around 3200. Its not heating and battery performance is very good. Of course official ICS is on the way. There everywhere is "G" version now and custom roms & kernels & mods will come day by day. I'm happy with my phone.
Samsung says no ICS planned for the Galaxy S II....

Ask them and you will see....

Yes.
Galaxy S, in the eyes on Samsung, has fulfilled his purpose.
But in XDA eyes, it still has a lot to offer!
If you are too afraid to flash an ICS rom on it, you should probably do yourself a favor and throw it to the trash can and buy an iPhone, that gives you plenty of features to afraid (and rich) people.

The value pack is available for the SGS, and is a really cool firmware - possibly the best firmware until now from Samsung.
This is for the international version. Possibly a similar package for other regions and operators.
Since that ROM was leaked, no other leak for the i9000 for long time. I don't expect any other ROM for the SGS from Samsung.
There are some developers here working on the ICS for the SGS. At this point, the only think we're asking from Samsung is to release the source to support the continued development.
it is leaked for SGS only i think not SGS + as i m SGS+ user i didn't find that so it is new for me.there are also less roms for SGS+ and till now there is no ICS rom (unofficial) for SGS+ so for me its bad experience with samsung

Thats the I9100G not I9100, both are totally different units HW wise.
did see that pic and it's looking nice on s2..we will have to see what he cooks up for the i9100...I've heard there is much to do to get it stable ie audio and other important things...it will get there, but it will take time ..
If I'm not mistaken though, codeworkx had a hand in the CM9 port to the I9100 as well, so I wouldn't be overly shocked if he has something to show for it as well. Either way, it comes when it comes. Until then, back to trying out new kernels!

That's exactly it. If I reaaally want to, I could go for a five minute drive and pick up a Galaxy Nexus in a few hours, but the issue is my contract still has until June 2013, so I may as well see it out. After that, my I9100 will probably sit in a draw unused. I've already ordered my Nexus 7 though, so that won't be too much longer. Finally, once my contract is up, hopefully it'll only be a few months before another Nexus phone is announced (assuming they do one roughly every year).
screamworks
I expect it will come by 2014.
Im buying a nexus device next.. I'm done waiting for the upgrade to come out..
I appreciate all the work done by CM team but they never seem to get everything working.. been running CM9 for 7months now on SGS2 and we are still using dirty hacks and workarounds to get stuff working (never works like it should, ie autobrightness, tvout)..
I'm not blaming the devs.. its all Samsung's fault and my fault for not buying a nexus device.. I actually wanna thank all the devs for doing all the work with ICS but if that is any indications of the timeframe.. I don't think CM10 will have everything working any time soon.. but I'm secretly hoping since CM is the only hope at this point..

I currently have a Samsung Galaxy Mini, and i'm about to sell it for about R$200 and buying a Motorola Defy (or Defy+) for about ~R$550. What do you think? Is it worth it, or should i get another phone. Phones here in Brazil are WAY to expensive, so this phone is what I can get for now.
I'm thinking it is great because of screen size and processor. It is also an armv7 phone, which supports full Jelly Bean/ICS experience, different from my SGM which is armv6 with an 600mHz processor.
Btw, how JB and ICS behave in this phone?

Its a pretty old phone. Though we have unofficial ICS & JB(gratitude to our devs) but the phone is somewhat outdated. I'd suggest you to go for Xperia U or Xperia Go(comes with the same IP67 stads as Defy), though not sure if those are available at the same price band in Brazil. The dual-core processor is certainly the +1 for Xperia along with official ICS (& JB by mid Q1 2013)

i actually just got a defy green lens almost 3 weeks ago for $120 USD from a friend 2nd hand in very pristine condition. i thought of playing with it for a while but after loading up CM7.2 and CM10 i was quite hooked.. i love small phones for portability and owned a HTC wildfire-s and Alcatel 0918N but eventually sold it due to lack of support from the community.. So if you can find one cheap like mine dont hesitate in getting one.. :cyclops:
Hey guys. Thanks so much for the help, but i've made my mind. I'm going to wait until December and get a Xperia U. Although it has locked bootloader and not that much of custom ROM's, it has official ICS, dual core cpu and stuff. And the price is about R$5,00 more.
Thanks a lot for everybody's help
Ciao
What do you think? I dont think its coming bcuz of the specs, but who knows? Every thing points to 5.0 needing 4 cores. Anyways we have cyanogen.

How did you get past the 1st Grade with that grammar son? The galaxy tab 2 is the newest one of its series, Samsung would be dumb as**'s to NOT releasing it. Whats "everything points to 5.0 needing 4 cores." I think your saying that to operate/run key-lime pie you would need a quad core? No, there are a handful of tablets/phones that are below 4 cores that are getting a slice of key-lime pie man. www.dailygrammar.com/ <== Use it. It will help you.
AW: Key Lime Pie 5.0
Why do you think, that English is his native language?

tab 2 wont be updated beyond 4.2.2!
and yeah, english may not be his native language..even if it is, u dont need to get all over him for that!
I dont appreciate Samsung's plan of stopping on 4.2.2 since the first galaxy tab is also getting the 4.2.2 update.

The tab 2 series was released in April of 2012 why would you think it would get KLP? It may be the "newest of the series" but I'm sure there will be shiny new tabs released for KLP.

The thing is, we don't know how tab 2 will perform after getting upgraded to klp with all the touchwiz features...
Some devices get very crappy...my xperia u got worse with updates!
I hope codeworkx continues his support...

Samsung wont update beyond 4.2.2 because they would rather you purchase their new Tab range that will carry 5.0....its pretty clear and obvious...Samsung isnt a charity at the end of the day...
Yes, this is true that the original Tab range will be getting the updates as well but thats partly due to the fact that they carry some pretty decent hardware specs such as Tegra 2 and Exynos...both of which are more pronounced in the performance department when compared to Tab 2 range of TI offerings...
