15 mb firmware update today. Whats new?

Just used manual update in my german note and had a 15 mb firmware. Doesn't break root. Any word whats new? Still at 2.3.6.

Could be preparation for ICS, Although that is just a guess.
Anytime i see anything about an update i just keep thinking it's ICS!!
Can't wait for it.

Yep, same here ... Mine's an unbranded, unlocked UK note (XEU) and I'm getting nothing through Kies or manual update on the phone. Still on KKA.

I'm in the UK and got the OTA update yesterday. I'm running a German unlocked Note from Expansys UK. Cant see any differences though tbh. :/

I think that was already in KL7, the previous official update for German Notes...

I am in the UK and got the update on day one via kies.bought phone from Amazon.de

The update is only for german Notes. You can get it by manually download it and flash it. Did it myself yesterday.

How is it possible to receive official updates (stock roms) without flashing?
Please do not start telling me to read guides and so on... I worked on Android platform and after this experience I am aware how preparing roms and custom stuff is obviously a great challenge, gives you great satisfaction, but makes the phone be more prone to crashes, memory leaks and so on.

patient is a virtue tow weeks. when i bought my xoom, after 6 mounts of delays my daily routine was check for updates , not any more..

I'm sure you were joking but this actually does raise a point that people should take into consideration:
If the phone is bought from the UK but the firmware is German, then it will get German upgrades. If it's bought from amazon.de and has Chinese firmware then it will only get Asian upgrades.
It doesn't matter where you buy the phone from, it matters what country the firmware is directed at. I also own a UK note which has BRI as the sales code and I don't have any update even though I live in Finland.

Really funny... If it was only a matter of geographical location just a dns static route would fix the trouble of getting updates...

ICS Has landed in the UK!

Hi All
Just did a check for update via my tab, and it is, as I type, downloading the ICS Update!
Anyone else, if you havent done so, check via System Update in Settings.
As per the title, I live in the UK (Midlands).
Running stock rooted 3.2.1 Gen 1 f/ware

Sorry forgot to check before update, but now ICS is installed it's ww_gen1.

I only turned on my wifi and it pop up with update option.
It's all installed now and all my apps are still there and settings so it did not wipe/format and google+ seems to be in the rom now.
Acer ring is not in the rom or i dont know how to use it?
So far seems ok.

If your not rooted:
Did you install/update the "ICONIA TAB Update Enhancement" (Thats how its written in play store) in the last 2 months, if not do it now from the play store.
If your rooted then i have no idea.

No update for me in East Midlands,asked question re ICS release couple of days ago to Acer UK and rather negative answer.

i dont understand why im not receiving the update.

ics landed in K.S.A . updating now. finally...

yeah im 100% stock ive not touched the tab except using it, 3.2.1 stock and yeah the enhancement app updated itself a week or 2 ago
edit~; just uninstalled the re-installed the enhancement and still nothing

I not sure then, could try powering off tab then power back on, turn wifi off before power down then once booted up turn wifi back on, but this is just a wild guess.

okay do this
1) go to http://vache-android.com/v1/index.php?site=files&file=151
2)put it on a micro sd
3) boot in recovery by power+volume up/down (the closest to power button)
4) sit back and relax while tab is updating
5) ENJOY
i am now running 4.0.3 on my dad a500

updated my tab.just few changes, new key tone and the keyboard has been changed.now its better.
the update is of 207 mb it shows stability improvements.

what's the version? is it 4.1.1 or stil 4.0.4?

Do not know why in morning my device was saying firmware upgrade required but now it says no update available(ota)...

Why does the update show up in Kies but not OTA for my P3113?

So far these are some of the mayor changes I have seen,new browser look,new power menu,new keyboard which seems way more convenient.

I tried multiple times to upgrade. It timed out at max 60% after 2 hrs and could not complete.Then I quit. Looks like the server is very slow.. at least for me. How much time it has taken for you? Anyone updated their tab in India? (I have 4Mbps ADSL connection and get a speed of 3.5Mbps). So I don't think it is due to internet connection.

I upgraded my tab 2 and I am in India. But the update was downloaded 2 days ago and I have a 16mbps connection.
Btw does anyone know what that slashed "i" symbol for in the notification area? I had a rooted stock rom with cwm 6 and I got couple of error messages while applying the uodate(cwm recovery works well), though don't see any other errors since. Don't know if the "i" symbol is related though. - EDIT - found out that symbol was there because I had turned off notifications.

what mode you tried to update ota or kies???
Try other way to update that is kies ie you tried ota or ota if tried kies.

I tried via kies, I was unable to get OTA update. Let me try again tonight..
Update: Updated in single try on Friday night through Kies. Was updated within a hour.

C'mon Samsung.......how much will you copy Apple (look at the new keyboard) ? Stop now and try to do some Innovations (you can).
Anyways, can I Flash it through CWM 6.0.1 ? Any risks ?

Ok...so not showing in OTA (may be cause Device Status is Modified). Anyways could somebody upload their downloaded OTA (update.zip) and share it with us? Don't want to download this huge 758Mb file (got slow Internet )

Yea stability improved and thats it. I tried to get some info from sammobile or adam but nothing so far. Only what I found its Korean version (korea got that first, dunno).

Getting mine now (CPW unlocked, uk). Hoping it will resolve the 'unable to reconnect to network after signal drop' and the 'knox hammers the cpu 24/7 even when not used' issues... we shall see...

Funny, I actually checked for an update this morning completely randomly and there was nothing. This was at about 7AM UK time 7/10/13 however after reading this post I checked and sure enough there is a 30MB update! Downloading now.

Can anyone with one handed operation issue verify this?
In other thread somebody found out turning on accessibility service(s) disables one handed operation.
But i'm unsure which service blocks it.
This update might fix this problem...
Edit : Problem's still there.. In my case it's Martian watch's accessibility service
Oh well hope they fix it soon

Boot looping still present for me unfortunately

Knox and not logging onto network NOT fixed for me either

3 Fixed the issue that cannot phone with Tailand True Provider SIM1.

Just updated to .22 from .20 and now I am having bootloops.
What I did;
1: uninstalled Busybox
2. Left root on
Bootloop.
Tried to clear cache. Still bootlooping.

downloading now! Hope they continue making the phone better and software optimized.

Why did you left root on? You know, for sure, that yuou have to unroot first before updating.

I am sideloading the original FW ver. 2.19.40.18 (1.15GB) now. So now it is unrooted. Then update to .20 then to .22, then root again. What a waste of time. Should have unrooted first. haha.

Yup. Something like that.
In order to fix mine and bring back alive.
1. Download the latest FW for the ZE551 from the Zenfone 2 support page of Asus India.
2. Install TWRP
3. Format /system and /data via TWRP
4. Flash the latest firmware .20 downloaded above.
Back in business. Bootloader still unlocked. I will try to update to .22 later. Hope everything goes well or else back to square one.

I found the update summary on asus Chinese site. Translating it into English:
1. The United States and Canada software get new security feature Kill switch
2. Improve India's 3G signal data Capability
3. Fix Thailand Provider True SIM1 not able to make call
