Simple way to root and unroot stock kernel without flashing insecure kernel.
Don't worry about custom counter and yellow triangle, with this method they never appear, because we only rooting, it's a rooting script not a custom kernel.
This rooting script included Busybox installer.

Thanks !
worked perfectly on LPH. I reset my counter with Jig, updated to LPH(the bootloader too) and used this to use CWM and root. I ended up restoring my CM9 backup and now I'm on the new bootloader(feels faster, may be just me) with no triangle. Thanks!
Do you loose the ability to install apps to sd card like when you use CF-Root kernels or is it a safe method?
Thanks

You may have the Holy Grail here - a rooting method that doesn't need USB/PC connection.
As far as I know, there is nothing else that can do this.
Market it as such, and you're on a winner.
Any reason why someone without said connection abilities couldn't root with this ROM and then change accordingly?
Still many who don't want ICS, but I'd be interested to hear if anyone's rooted via this method and then successfully changed to GB.
Sounds good thanks for sharing..

Its not a kernel, so this will not give you yellow triangle.

If it does first i install the CWM.zip and then the SU-Installer-signed.zip ?
It still says "signature verification failed"

what type of cwm and galaxy tab do you have?
Thanks for this! I have one question though. How come I don't have CWM in the menu? I can boot into recovery mode just fien.
only CyanogenMod roms have the option to directly go to CWM recovery ,stock roms don't have that possibility.

Odin Version?
Do you think the Odin version has anything to do with it? I also have the SGS3 from Verizon and I've rooted and used Odin version 3.07 however the guides to rooting the g-tab use odin version 1.85....I've tried using both. I can boot into recovery however when I try to install the .zip files I get the "E signature fail" message.
If your sure the download is good and md5 checks out (if there's one posted) in cwm recovery in the flash zip menu there is a (disable signature verification check) click that then try and flash the zip) if the zip is good and u get that message it just means its unsigned.

I'm in the same boat. I'm running stock 4.2.2. ROM. Rooted, CWM 6.0.3.5, and I installed the AIO LTE .zip (I can't remember if I'm currently on the .33 or .27 radio). I received the 4.3 update OTA and just tried to install. I put me in CWM and asked me if I want to "install unkown zip" . I assumed that was the OTA update and selected yes. It seemed to do the install and reboot. However, I'm still on 4.2.2. Stranger still, when check for updates, it says I'm current.

The OTA won't install with a non-stock radio (I think) & the AIO flashable makes changes to the build.prop which will also prevent the OTA from installing.

Bingo! The AIO enabler does in fact make changes to your build prop which will cause the update to fail every time. Here's what I did. Flashed the stock 4.2.2 boot and system imgs via fastboot.(used the toolkit ) after which I manually flashed the stock radio (.48) and stock kernel. It worked after that. Gimmie a few and I'll link the files needed.

ok here they are. of course before you do anything make a nandroid backup just incase.
stock kernel, and image are here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145848
you want to download the stock 4.2.2 image and extract the boot and system imgs to be flashed via fastboot.
also since my initial ota failed and I didnt want to wait for my phone to get it again I just downloaded the stock 4.3 image.
its the first link "4.3-JWR66V-from-4.2.2 JDQ39"
stock radio is here. you want .48 and you just flash in cwm

I'm on stock kernel so can't comment about that, but if you have root you'll need to flash the full rom and the zip. You'll also likely lose root, so you'll need to flash SU.
Does it fix only the corruption issue or the FPS during recording a video issue as well?
So for us who are rooted and kernels installed and twrp as recovery. How do we update?

I tried updating and I had "Installation failed" and now,the phone won't boot. It always boots in recovery mode after being stucked on the "Powered by Android" screen for about 15 seconds.
Could anybody help please ? It would be great
how did you installed it ? By OTA or zip ? Try to wipe cache and dalvik cache
First I want to say I didn't unlock the bootloader, root the phone or installed a custom recovery.
So, I installed the update by OTA. I downloaded the file in update settings and it failed when it reboots to recovery to install the downloaded file. It fails at 75% completion.
I tried downloading the zip file from here this time, but it still fails and I still cannot boot the phone
I will try clean cache and dalvik cache
EDIT : I remember I installed and tested Kingroot once, can it be linked to the fail ?

Just clean flash the 2.2.0 rom for now to get your phone started if it's not. Then we'll figure out a solution to flash the mod.

You have to be using the latest lollipop release before updating. That means you have to be on YOG7DAS2K1 before attempting.
This worked out for me. But it might not work for you. I do not believe it can destroy your phone and switch some satellites off, but still, not responsible if it did so.
Requirments:
You have to have TWRP now or you at least have ROOT and any flashing app like flashify.
Download COS 13 update file. here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24459283995316311
Download the latest CyanogenMod Recovery https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=bacon
Download the cm-12.1-YOG7DAS2K1 full ROM [url]https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24369303960686198[/URL]
Guide:
Make sure the update cyanogen recovery option is checked in developer options.
Flash CyanogenMod Recovery downloaded before.
Reboot into it.
Use the update function in CyanogenMod Recovery and choose cm-12.1-YOG7DAS2K1 as the update file. It might take a while.
Now reboot to your phone. When booted and running, reboot to recovery.
Now you are running COS recovery. Update with the incremental.
That is it.
I hope this works out for you.
EXTRA: How to ROOT and have TWRP as a recovery:
Requirements:
A laptop.
Download TWRP and adb drivers on the laptop and the SuperSU and TWRP on your phone
Download Oneplus One TWRP Recovery [url]https://dl.twrp.me/bacon/twrp-3.0.2-0-bacon.img.html[/URL]
Get any adb divers. This one suffice [url]http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/adb-fb-apx-driver-universal-naked-t2513339[/URL]
Download the latest SuperSu [url]https://download.chainfire.eu/921/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.65-20151226141550.zip[/URL]
Guide:
Reboot into bootloader: you can do this in many ways. A simple google search will show you how. Easiest way is to turn the phone off and hold the volume up and power long enough for the phone to boot into bootloader.
Connect your phone to your laptop
Run the adb: I assume you are using windows of course. First put the TWRP .img file in this folder. Hold shift and right click in the folder downloaded above. A 'Open command window here' option will be there. Click it and write in the window
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-0-bacon.img
. A hint: you can just write twrp and hit TAB, it will complete the filename. Or you can rename the downloaded file to just twrp.img
Check your phone, you will be running TWRP temporarily. You now have the option to ROOT only by flashing the SuperSU file downloaded on your phone. If you reboot now you will lose TWRP and get back to the official COS Recovery. If you want TWRP for good flash the TWRP file downloaded on your phone before.
I hope this is easy. It actually is. just follow it step by step.

As I stated before you have to be on COS 12.1 YOG7DAS2K1. This method should not format your phone or remove any data as there is no factory reset step.
As for the link they are all over the place now. I used the official one. I'll link it for your convenience.
can anyone please pull the stock recovery from COS 13, not 12. I kinda screwed up while updating and now stuck in bootloop.
Update: The issue is resolved. The issue was because of SuperSu 2.46. Installing the latest TWRP and SuperSu 2.66 fixed it. Marshmallow is now rooted!
Thank you very much! After going back to stock and still not receiving the update for more than a week (well at least it felt like a week, Lol) I decided to flash a full COS 13 zip floating around. Instantly liked the new ROM but it had root/symlink issues only to be resolved when flashing a custom kernel it seems. Not what I really wanted so then I stumbled onto your thread and this technique worked 100%! I was on DAS2K1 (flashed thru a custom recovery) already and had several failed attempts flashing just the incremental outright (thru stock recovery)., but by flashing DAS2K1 thru stock recovery first as you suggest then the incremental seems to do the trick.
I did it all the steps, but my phone doesn't not start. After optimizing aplications I have bootloop at "cyanogen modready".
L.E. I think the problem was one of old aplications. After a clean install everything works.
This is the best thing Oneplus one i ever experience.COS13 give my Oneplus one a new breathe of life .This update better than crap lolipop. No Bug for me until now, only google play service need to update twice in play store, its auto reboot itself twice and wholla, super speed UX.The best thing i ever have.I apply update from CM-12-0-YNG1TAS17L Build LRX22G using this method and it works flawlessly
I don't need to factory reset or wipe cache .
I flash full stock ROM cm-12.1-YOG7DAS2K1 and apply update through CyanogenMod Recovery only and nothing else.
Now my oneplus one is rooted and TWRP install using ADB and its fly.All rooted apps is working together with Adaway.
Thanks Cyanogen team for make this 2 years old flagship killer a beast .
Only thing not satisfied is gone signal and wifi status (connectivity indicator ).I need to swipe down to see my transfer data working (what a bummer ).
Thanks so much for this magical guide (y2kkingboy) Yours truly Oneplus one diehard fan.
I was already on cm-12.1-YOG7DAS2K1, however rooted. So even if I had been offered the OTA it would have failed.
Your guide got me updated, first time with no problems.
6.0.1 is such an improvement on 5.1.1, I tried a couple of other 6.0 roms, however this has by far been the most stable and bug free.
Cheers for the tutorial!

I had tried this before and it did not work for me. Kept getting an error saying "the signature file was not a complete file" and therefore it didn't flash. But it may have been editing error on my part. This method works just fine and no need to give up your data either.
Having tried many other ways, I got it done with this instruction.
Thank you!

Hi xda users,
I am very pleased to present VERY OLD NOUGAT FTFs Google Drive Mirror + Patched Kernels.
I spend lots of time and bandwidth for you, so please hit Thanks :fingers-crossed: button and comment below..
Read First
This in NOT Backup TA Partition or Bootloader Unlock thread.
FTFs on this thread are original STOCK rom files.
If your device BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED, you can use Patched Kernel if you want.
If your device BOOTLOADER LOCKED, you can NOT use Patched Kernel.
You do NOT have to USE patched kernel, just flash FTF. Use like a stock ROM.
I build Patched Kernels for ROOT, TWRP, MAGISK users.
:fingers-crossed:

Is it possible to have a good update without wiping anything?
Especially if the previous FW version is very old (Customized HK device)

You can try without wipe, i canNOT guaranteed it will be good.
If you get errors, then you will flash with wipe options.

Here's my report:
I followed the 14 guide steps, except for wiping everything (I didn't select any wiping option at all).
No root device with intention to keep the factory-clean firmware as well as all user data.
The device was originally "Customized HK", that hasn't received any latest FW updates.
New FW installed flawlessly, keeping all user data on device :good:
Thanks again!!!
P.S. I used XperiFirm and FlashTool myself to get the desired FW version ftf file
Thank you for your hard work. Why don't you add TWRP 3.1.0 to kernel image ? not recovery boot image ?
i installed this version of nougat and now i can't install this https://forum.xda-developers.com/cr.../sonyz5-family-unlocked-xz-xc-camera-t3463148 or other mods . They install in the recovery but when i start the camera i get the stock camera app with no mods. i have root, twrp from tis thread and i did a whipe cache but didn't help. Do i need to do anything else to fix this?

I looked at update-script and modded files. They have different package names..
Sony camera app's name is not "SuperVideoCamera" anymore..
You have to edit all apk, jar, odex file names and script..
This is a solid guide. Thanks!
In case anyone else experiences it — on first boot, i couldn't add fingerprints as the scanner didn't seem to work. Skipped it and after a reboot, everything worked fine.
I flashed recovery TWRP 3.1.0 on E6683 but it didn't show my extSD>>>>>>

Working great, thanks again
restore from backup not working?

I have encountered a problem: When I activate Bluetooth, it says "Bluetooth share has stopped". Any ideas on how to solve it? Maybe an apk that is functional and I can place it in system apps
