I found the serial port on the Kindle Fire. Since I am now, I cannot post to the thread discussing it. They were right in it being that connector, but I scoped the pinout

k[Q] Will the Kindle Fire have a physical keyboard attachment?

Does anyone know if there will be a physical keyboard attachment for the Kindle Fire? Or do you think that it'll be possible to use a Galaxy Tab keyboard attachment for the Fire? I've googled it and I've found nothing. Any comments?
No dock connector, no bluetooth, no USB A-type ports. It's possible you can get the Fire to act in USB Host mode through the micro USB port, but unlikely and probably requires building your own USB connector. I can't post links yet, so google "USB Host mode on Motorola Droid" for the article.

[Q] Unpopulated pads in Kindle Fire PCB

Looking at ifix´s Kindle Fire tear down I see an unpopulated socket below the Samsung Memory chip. (bottom-right in the following image...upps, i cannot link an image)

Does anybody know what this unpopulated lands could be intended for?
Could it be a sd-card socket?

[Q] How can I connect A500's touch screen to PC through USB bus?

Well, I wanna buy and modify the A500 touchscreen for my computer.
The seller provide a photo for the touchscreen controller which attached to the touchscreen connector. (just the photo in the ATTACH FILES)
There's a MXT1386-U and three MXT154 on the controller board.
The only info I found about these chips is this: (well, I can't post URL, so I make a screenshot in the attachment)
But this is only a brief introduction, all useful info I get from this page is the controller support USB bus, so it means that it is possible to connect it to my computer through the USB bus.
But I'm still confused about the cable connection, I don't know about how the port defined on the board (I mean the black port on the right side on the board in the photo)
So, is there anyone know about the chip or the port definition?
It will be great help.
Thanks!

Any way to fix the micro usb port on my thinkpad tablet?

Does anyone know how to fix my micro USB charger port on my tablet? I have to slightly press up on the cord to make it charge, it's kinda annoying and I am afraid I might break it down the road.
I tried cleaning it and it doesnt seem to have any dust/dirt.
model number: 1839 22U
Its a standard failure on the TPT. Most just get the TPT1 dock of amazon for $20. It charges great and acts as a usb port as well.

I am always glad to have a USB port as a backup if my mico one breaks :victory:
Hi Destreza!
Where do you live? I know someone in Germany who is able to repair those broken ports.
If you're plucky here's a (German) guide how to fix it on your own: ht tp://thinkpad-forum.de/threads/149172-Fix-ThinkPad-Power-Switch-und-Micro-USB-Buchsen-Problem

I bought that cable and received a standard micro USB cable. Not necessarily your fault as the seller was a hurr durr.
Yes. Sorry, the cable was a hoax. It is reported by buyers to be a regular micro-usb cable and the picture and description is miss-leading.

Fixing USB charger port is bit difficult. Ask a good expert to do the job
I wasn't aware that this tablet could charge through the full-size USB slot, is that possible?
Anyone tried this?
You go first....

Am working on this cable..
Need pinout info --
other photo is leftover from my earlier hack before receiving the TPT1 dock -- now i charge faster than ever!!! when i'm @ home or bring monstersaurus charging cable + inline brick...
Had originally removed broken usb micro, re-tinned pads and attached delicate cable to usb A male, then PLUG IN direct or extension... not ideal, but worked for the 5 days.
Anyway.. I'm building a viable solution, as it's not perfect, since i can't use the omni-micro usb until that port is replaced with upcoming replacement ports from (china)eBay! -- have the JAE DD2 40pin port assembly from Digikey. Offering 1st gen mod cable to accurate pinout plans to build usb data / high-speed charging via 5v >1500ma *and* 20v (possibly step down myself, or inline brick otherwise) for high-speed charging.
leads to pinout / pinout schema ONLY gets you offering of cable.
Please help, guys, i'm looking to do a lot of work here -- summer hack-a-day project in brooklyn time!
Hi c0psrul3
I'm documenting and linking all I can found about this tablet on the xda wiki:

Thanks to your post I found out I was missing to link the dock port pinout, I found a link to it:

6pin USB modificatiin

I recently installed a 8227L unit. on the back there is one 4pin USB port and one 6pin USB port.
According to the pin out here
drive.google.com/file/d/12bPcFU3NChV-zyOzuW3IhEot1Td3Rl8Y/view?usp=drivesdk
The six pin USB provides two separate data lines and shared the power source.
Has anyone made modifications to the cable that the kit provides (a single USB port like the one in the following image) and make it support 2-USB connection on one cable?
drive.google.com/file/d/12q22FjffQS9q6GcjRyC0YTLXAJbvZcH1/view?usp=drivesdk
I am hoping to learn that this modification allows the two USB devices, connected to the head unit can work at the same time.
My plan is to hook up both the front and rear USB dashcams to this USB port, and leave the other USB port ( the one with the four pin cable ) for DAB+ dongle or a USB storage.
Did you try this? Did it work?
It looks like this kind of cable is available from AliExpress:
https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/H0461b1f84cb646aeb177edf6a8fa9069D.jpg
I never seem to be able to download anything from Google drive, it always wants me to create an account. It shows 'page not found' for that one anyway. I'd be interested in seeing that pinout, the AliExpress picture is not on the correct angle to see which wires go where and the URL doesn't link to the actual sale to see if there are any other pictures there.
Could you post the pinout as a picture here in the forum?
