USB Flickering within CyberGR-MOD ROM - Nexus S General

Hey All:
I just installed the CyberGR-MOD ROM (props to CyberGR) on my T-Mo Nexus S, but I'm having a very weird issue where the USB port is flickering while charging. It connects and disconnects rapidly (window pops up and then disappears again).
The USB does not do this in Recovery, and it doesn't appear to do this while it is fully charged either.
Anybody know where to start troubleshooting?
Thanks!

I've experienced this too with stock/cm9/aokp I believe its either bad USB port or bad battery, I ordered a new batt, it'll be here this week ill post result when i get it

Running the same on my phone. No issues here...

@b1337 Do you have the same issue where it works fine in recovery? I'm still confused by how it worked well before I installed the new ROM.

did you try doing a clean install including formatting the sdcard?
or were you using any of his earlier versions and did you experience the same problem then?

@ballesteros: It was a 100% clean install. I'm planning on clean installing up to v8 now and seeing what that does for it.
The issue seems below intermittent - it now only happens on occasion. I've found that I can sometimes fix it by rebooting. That said, it just decided to do it again as I type this, so who knows.
--Edit-- Now issues in recovery too. It's strange that it gets stable when fully charged, and a nightmare any other time. What else should I be looking for?

Nexus One "continuously reboots to "X" screen."

Hi everybody!
I'm trying to buy a used Nexus One, good price, but the owner claims that the phone "continuously reboots to "X" screen." but that IT can be fixed flashing the rom.
Is it true?
I'm reading on the internet that having the nexus one loop rebooting is a somehow common problem, and people got it fixed flashing the rom, or by moving some shifted pins on the battery. Do you guys think it's something reparable? Everybody that had this issue solved it? Or I risk that the phone is actually broken, and I might be buying a phone that I will not be able to use?
Thanks!
fastboot
just check for fastboot. the rest is easy cheeze.
how much is a good deal ?
unlocked $300 (cad)
What should I check? Instruct me plz, I never had a nexus one or even a Droid phone before ... (coming from 2 years old HTC cruise, with WM 6.5 with an XDA rom ....)
If I meet the guy, how to I check that hes not selling me a bricked nexus lol ?
Installing a new rom will fix it

are you 100% ?
I dont mind working on it, I just want to make sure that it is reparable via software/roms.
ppl plz tell yours, im just about calling this guy, really dont wanna waste $300
what is its restarts so much, that I cant flash the rom or something? there's no way that that could be the case, right?
sold ... goddamit lol But I'll get one one way or another
I was having this happen to me a lot. I moved in to a new place with no cable or internet yet, so my N1 was under extremely heavy use. And when it was warm, it would get both the touch screen problem and the random reboots.
I was using pershoots 2.35 Kernal. I went back to the stock kernal and the phone has since been running a lot cooler. Zero reboots, touch screen responds correctly. I take the stock kernal stability over an OC kernal any day.
It's a kernel issue that can most likely be fixed by flashing a new
ROM/Kernel, however there is always a small chance that it is triggered by faulty hardware.
My Nexus had this Problem Was unfixable by software. Hardware defect. I wouldn't buy.
Still waiting for my swap unit
i had a friend with a similar problem. He rooted the phone with the 1-click root app from the market, he then installed ROM manager from the market and try to flash Cyanogen mod ROM, afterward the phone went black. The only thing happen to the phone now is the X screen and its keep boot loop. I tried went to fastboot, works fine, then I tried to go to Recovery but it restart right afterward!!!
Now how am I suppose to wipe, or flash new rom without getting into the recovery? I got to fastboot and plugged in the USB cable and tried to ran terminal but it was unsucessful. I tried to copy some new files to the phone via adb command but keep getting the error "BootMagic failed".
Any help?

Even though solved, something to keep in mind: Its probably a ROM (or kernel issue as they said), but I had a revolving X due to a bad battery too.
it can be solved

Phone turning off by itself

Ok last night I just flashed the latest epic experience and phoenix kernel .49. Had no issues with it last night. Put it on the charger and got to work this morning. Now twice this morning when letting my phone set, it just goes off all by itself. I have to pull the battery to get it to come back on. On the epic experience there are a lot of add ons and stuff that can be flashed. I have all those on my memory card as well. They were there last night. I am restoring my phone right now to prior to the install of epic experience and phoenix kernel.
does anyone know what the problem may be?
Thanks.

I'm having the same issue and trying to get to the bottom of it-- has happened on and off charger, where I just notice that my phone is off. I'm running the latest MixedUp Kernel with Andromeda ROM 1.1.1a (not the most recent). Other than the newest Mixedup, the only mod I've applied is the 'reboot option android policy.zip' grabbed from this thread.
Anyone know the best way to restore to stock android.policy.jar to see if the mod is maybe causing it?
side note: I still haven't found an easy way to get into my clockwork backups (browse contents, or mount), if anyone knows.
But that's the only thing I can think of that might be causing it.
This is a known issue with the reboot mod. Try flashing the newest Epic Exp OP.

I did flash the newest epic exp. I do not have the reboot mod installed, that second person does. I have reflashed the epic experience. I did change the wall paper to an all black one and that could be the cause. I also had a stop watch running in the background, so that could be a culprit as well. Right now I am trying to do the battery callibration, so I am charging to 100%, to be able to erase battery stats, re drain, and charge again. So we shall see.
Ok tried to reflash and still have issues. Using EE and Latest phoenix kernel, after phone just sits for about 10 minutes, the phone turns itself off. Someone anyone know what the issue may be?
Thanks.
Ok I can confirm that it must be epic experience causing problems. I can run Phoenix Kernel .49 with 2.1 and it runs fine and does not shut down. When I install the latest EE with Phoenix kernel .49 it shuts down. I have a lot of stuff on my memory card, but I can not see how that would affect the phone to just shut down.
Running andromeda galaxy rom and phoenix kernel .49 does fine. Anyone know why I would have an issue with EE making my phone just turn off.

[Q] Weird bug in my syndicate rom frozen

Before I start lm just going to say this rom kicks ss and you guys rule.
Anyone else with Syndicate Frozen having this problem? Not sure if it is a known bug.. I already completle restored to eclair, switchedto EB13, clockwork, wipe wipe wipe and installed syndicate rom frozen (the newest version I think) and everything is working wonderfully but if I connect my phone to my computer and open up the SD card and create a folder and dump some .pdfs I can read them fine in documents to go or whatever but when I turn the phone off and then on again all that folder is deleted. Whats up with this?!
Backup your files and format your sdcard. It might help or not but worth a shot.

Hey thanks for the reply.
Sadly I tried all that, even tried using a completly new sdcard I had laying around here and the same thing happens..
This is not going to be much help, but just thought I would report, I am not having this problem.
I've been able to transfer files without issue. Wireless or through the USB cable.
I've encountered a number of minor annoyances....
Mint app launches randomly... seriously... I'll be typing a text... bam! Mint.
Wifi locks up on enable and disable sometimes... reboot to fix.
Etc... it will get better over time though

[Q] Rebooting after flashing Rom

Hi,
I have been trying to flash few roms. I constantly do though. Last rom I was on, I found that the battery drained very quickly and it keeps changing its stats in a random way.
I decided to flash new roms, and since, I flash the rom, and then the phone turns off by itself. I tried few different kernels "of course the right ones", and some seem to help for few more minutes, but that is not the case.
I tried to flash the latest version of "FOXHOUND ROM' for the i9505, and it would show the boot animation and then turns off instead of starting the phone. Tried to wipe cache and all the stuff, and still the problem persisted. Could it be a bad battery all of the sudden?

Go back to stock first, and check if that has the same problems...

For some reason I have tried this a lot on my old phone... Some kernels worked for mine and others not... While it should..
Flash stock and see... Keep stock kernel and flash rom, if no problems then try new kernel... If problem returns then flash stock kernel again

Thanks for the tip. I tried that as well, but Unfortunately, the same problem. I don't have a problem what so ever when I am using the phone while it is charging or plugged in, but as soon as I take it out, and even if it is full, it shuts off, tries to turn back on and it wouldn't, it keeps rebooting, once i plug the charger in it, it would stay on.
That tells me either:
The Battery is bad!
Or
There might be a circuit problem with the phone sucking power out of the battery!

When it freezes on that first reboot, try a battery pull and see if it will boot. If it doesn't, try another battery pull.
Mine actually did that a few times too (freeze on the SAMSUNG screen after first reboot).

i have a question i had 2.0 working great.
i have tryed to update to 3.0 multible times.
i went from stock md5 right to 3.0 and have issues with the phone rebooting it works ok but once restarted it will not start back up. i also cant get wifi to work.
i have even downgraded to twrp 5.0.2.
i have flashed my phone back to stock md5, than root than wipe everthing than 3.0 and same issues.
i flashed back to stock md5, than root than stock md9 than wipe than 3.0 still issues
i flashed to rooted and odexed md9 wipe than 3.0 still issues.
i have download both direct and torrent and still stumped why the phone freezes after it reboots and no wifi at all after installation.
anyone have any clues?

So i got my phone replaced and installed the software on it and im no longer having the issue i stated above but i do have a new issue with the call recording. I installed it through the aroma installer and then used update me to install it manually like i was reading in the thread. Everytime I try to make a call (with out even pressing the record button) the screen goes black and there is some call recording icon in the left hand side of the status bar. soon after this i get an error that says com.android.phone has stopped. I have tried to reinstall stock with out call recording but it keeps doing it as if the call recording is there. Am i forced to reset and reinstall the rom?
You might want to give Highway55's MF9 ROM a shot. It has the wifi hot spot mod *and* the status bar toggle already built in. I wrote lengthy post on 9/26 detailing my experience with Highway55 along with the simple steps I took to implement the additional mods that I wanted (including call recording).

I think the FreeGS4 ROM has its own AGAT custom kernel. So I don't think you want to do that...
And I've had a few issues with V3.0.0 myself. I just downgraded back to V2.0.0

I loved the built in ad-blocker, but noticed it interfered with hulu plus, watch ESPN, and sometimes xfinity player. I've since removed the ad blocker, but was wondering if there was a work around so that I could keep the ad blocker, but have it not block ads for these apps? Or is there a way to get these apps to work with the ad-blocker in place?
