That's hard for us to do lol. I think everyone has come across the fact that the bootloader shouldn't be flashed.
maybe true i'm not in that much into the galaxy 3 game, but for me with the galaxy S it saved my life. so perhaps in the future with gingerbread roms where u must change the bootloader. mine got screwed downgrading gingerbread to froyo for CM7.
That IS useful
Hi Guys,
I havent used this site in years but recently I bought a Galaxy S4 outright from JBHIFI.
Before you guys give me alot of crap, I have a very bad feeling that I may have hard bricked it.
It doesnt turn on anymore, not even in recovery or download mode. I am very new to android as I was using an iPhone before and couldn't resist attempting to root my phone (stock program were killing my battery)
I hadn't even had the chance to flash a custom rom on there as far as i know i just grated root access.
Funny thing is it was doing the same thing the other day. But randomly it decided to charge and turn on. Now it is definitely not charging or turning on and i have no idea what to do... it just sucks cause i havent ever this phone for a month and its already useless! :crying:
I was using it for about a week after i rooted and now im just stuck with a brick.
Any help would greatly be appreciated, feel free to ask any questions.

yeah thats what im planning to do its about exactly a month since i had it today... i just didnt want to mention anything cause i know you guys and moderaters dont condone that kind of behaviour! thanks though, im pretty much screwed arent i? ill be heading into jbhifi on my lunch break will go ahead with that plan haha.
ill tell you guys how it goes.
Have you tried a battery pull?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
sorry... is that just taking the battery out? LOL if so, yes ive tried it quite a few times.
at one stage it was turning on but only loading the splash screen... so i pulled the battery out. even if i tried to start it in recovery mode, it would only load the blue text at the top of the screen and then freeze.
i have a mate who also got an s4 so i was going to meet up with them and see if i could use their battery because it seems the phone has even lost its capability to charge.

didnt go jbhifi today had to fix my rims instead LOL, trying other solutions and finding a spare battery to see if its just that... maybe then it will beable to atleast boot in download mode

No, you don't have to be in download mode. Install right driver, connect your phone to pc and run the program. Then it will be in download mode, so flash firmware with pit file
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
well so far... i tried this at work and no luck, so i went home and tried it there... still no luck.
you mentioned i need to install the right driver? is that the QHSUSB drivers? (where can i find them and are they specific for the S4) anyway when i plug my phone into the computer there is no indication that it is being detected at all.
just hoping to try out more suggested solutions before i attempt to take it back into the store and have em tell me that my warranty is cooked
Hi just an update.

Don't bash the phone for nothing ...
Somehow I doubt that they didn't test the camera after replacing it.
Next time, take it easy, and what ever you do, read carefully the instructions.

My galaxy S4 is "hard bricked" as well after trying to flash OMEGA ROM onto the device. My guess is that somebody mislabeled the ROM and it was intended for the octal-core processors and not the US quad-core ones.
Does anyone have a link for the qualcomm drivers that are needed? I'm at a loss currently in regards of which direction to take.
Thanks in advance,

i know... its just frustrating... i pretty much got it when it came out and convinced all my mates that it was the best phone out there at the moment (all the features are pretty nifty and its powerful ill admit)
funny thing was the camera was working perfectly before i took it in and didnt even think it needed replacing. the camera worked when i got it back the first time i opened the app but it had smearing (pink vertical lines on bright objects). after that it the app didnt open again and just has the "camera app failed" error.
as for the hardbrick guys i think the qualcomm drivers work but only if you can get your phone to turn on or enter d/l mode. mine was so fried out that it wouldnt show any signs of life even after getting the drivers.

This was also samersh72's suggestion when i bricked mine. Problem is, there was no way for me to acces that qhusb mode thing as the phone was totally dead and doesn't even charge.
Jtag could probably revive it though.
Anyway, sent mine for repairs with
custom binary status and the samsung guys accepted it as there was no way for them to revive the phone(the motherboard was replaced). They didn't found out that it was modified.

Return it and claim warranty, tell them that your phone suddenly went off and that you don't know the reason. They may replace the board for you.

Then it's up to you to convince your client to return it to Samsung for warranty. As for recovering his data, that is the hard part.

Do you mean the bootloader that needs to be written as T-Flash to a microsd using Odin 3.09 or higher? (as per 13-58_SM-N900_Boot_Recovery_Guide_rev1.0.pdf) Isn't that just the same as sboot.bin written raw to first sectors of microsd?
I would be interested to hear if you managed to use that just for the "extreme hacking" angle of it :good:

I do not think the microsd is enough - the Note3 ONLY boots from microsd if you short R4075 on the mainboard - there is a notice from Samsung service somewhere around with a name like 13-58_SM-N900_Boot_Recovery_Guide_rev1.0.pdf that describes the details (and comes with a good picture of what you need to short).

Hey guys ;
I just wanted to ask , how do you recover from a hardbrick that is caused by a wrong rom flash or something similar. I know zips are usually marked with the device model on the updater script but say somebody mislabeled it. JTAG is "not" an option. I myself never did something like this but i'm curious as to how because my old p920 was virtually unbrickable. Without battery on , the phone could function as a development board which enabled us to emulate JTAG from the usb port. If i remember correctly.
How come Nexus 4 doesn't have something like this considering there used to be hordes of developers working on this device ?
So no access to recovery or fastboot?

First of all, how could you download a ROM for another phone AND install it on a Nexus 4?
Secondly, can you boot into Bootloader?

My phone is not bricked dude.
I was just curious. I know it's very unlikely but it is possible and it happens on samsung galaxy devices a lot because of the variations between international and US versions and some carriers. Somebody mislabels something and poof. dead.
Say the same thing happened to a Nexus 4. How would you recover from it , short of using a Riff Box?

You need not JTAG it. I recovered my hard bricked Nexus 4 which doesn't enter into download or bootloader or adb... It didn't show anything except led blinking 10 times. But, your phone needs to be seen as Qualcomm QHUSB device and a software. I can't post link to that post here.
Help! I tried to upgrade to lollipop 5.1 based on a youtube (no links allowed) video through TWRP. I tried to do the same three buttons thing with my phone plugged in and the ODIN program running on my PC. A Glorious Nothing! Keep in mind that my battery was about 50% charged at the time. Well, I'm pretty sure I used the right rom for my i9301 model. I checked the descriptions carefully. I googled for an answer and it says that I need to have specific tools or a micro usb with less pins or an island in Aigaion Pelagos. I don't know... It's way too difficult for me. I guess that's what you end up with, if you play with fire. Another brick in the wall... But, thank you anyway! Any other suggestions are welcome. NO for me
Sooo, I tried every step on the guide, realllly carefully, but NO for me.
I bought a 16 GB 10 class Transcent SD card, formatted it with Panasonic SD formatter (tried with the windows genuine formatter too), tried both FAT32 and NTFS method. Next, I wrote the debrick (128 MB) image (dnld from the link especially for i9301). So, ejected it, put it in the sd card slot, placed the battery and did the three button trick (down vol, power, menu). Pitch black! Tried it many times with no results. What do I do wrong? Everybody else manages to fix it in the end, but I can't. Maybe the problem with mine is something else! But I explained in the first post how it all started. Now I am lost in space!
Is my phone Hard Bricked? Fully Dead? Maybe the guide you posted was for Soft Bricked phones. What did the pal meant to say with this?
"But first please make sure that its Hard Barick (fully dead mean not turning on or nothing works except when u connect to pc it will show qualcomm)"

Guess what! It worked in the morning! So, the mobile needs a nice sleep too! So, everything is okay now. Though, my initial purpose was to install Lollipop 5.1.1 (after rooting, of course) and I was bricked in the middle of the operation.
Now, given that I 'm an insistent, dumb headed POI, I would like to try again, the right way. I would use the same guide, but I don't know what went wrong in the first place. I guess, I 'd have to repeat the same procedure again, if something went wrong but, I don't know... I know that I 'd have probably tired you but, could you propose a method to do so?
Lastly, I want to thank you from the depths of my heart for your patience and your guidance through these days. You 've been truly helpful! :good:

Oh, are you saying that your mobile is alive now? And please don't mention that "help" thing. We are here to help each other. Once i was a new also and i learned so many things here. So, i am just sharing what i have gained from here.
Some times it happens, a little mistake could lead you to a big sorrow. If your mobile is alive now , i am happy for you. And if it is not then i am suggesting you to take it to any repairing shop. May be they can do something about it. And if you still don't get results then keep it with you, it's hardware wouldn't be a waste.
