Well, i've just repaired my phone phone the bootloop but in the app managment it only says I have 128 mb when in a normal case I should have 1.2gb can anybody help me!? It's making me nuts!
Well... my experience, with a stock rom is Android will try to use all memory and then free up memory as needed. Are you experiencing lag or anything you could attribute to memory issues? Ironically, on a different forum, a user found that a memory manager recommended by CNET, was constantly using Rich Clipboard to sync with some on-line source causing huge resource issues.
My solution was to shut off my taskmanager so it wouldn't keep sending me memory notices that meant nothing.
Well thank you, but the problem is not from stock rom, The problem is that I sbf-flash with gingerbread, but then make an downgrade to eclair, then an update to froyo and finally use Cyanogenmod 7, and in the settings it says it doesn't have expandable inside memory
I believe to reset the internal memory to 1.2gb its a factory reset, do some searching first for people that downgraded from gb to eclair
teamwork makes the dream work

Hi,
I've recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S, and have been massively pleased with it. When I first got it I had a look at the Samsung Apps application and noticed that the game came bundled with Asphalt 5 - needless to say I downloaded it and it worked perfectly.
However, I then rooted my phone (JG5 firmware + MoDaCo custom ROM) and tried to go through the same process. This time, however, I was confronted with an error:
"Asphalt5 could not be viewed. Free up some space on your phone and try again."
Any ideas what could be causing this? I installed a few apps on my phone, but I can't see how it can be a space issue. The game's about 50mb, I have 1.03GB remaining on my external SD, 5.50GB on my internal SD, and 1.70GB available on "Internal Phone Storage".
Any help is much appreciated!
Did you run the Modaco lag fix? It moves the storage space to the internal NAND memory, thereby limiting installation space to something like 130MB. Sounds like you've used that space...
I did yeah.. without really knowing what it was doing! Is there any way to undo the script?
I've searched up and down these forums but haven't found anyone with the same problem. I recently restored my phone with the stock os. Start up my phone and right when i open it up i get the memory critically low. Ive hard reset my phone. flashed the stock os multiple times. And now I get this message that Run FILEOP has failed and memory is low. Anyway to fix this?
EDIT*
It says I have 0 bytes free of 73.6MB. I'm pretty sure I had a lot more internal memory than that when I first got this phone
sounds like a warranty repair.
Try clearing the browser cache and deleting all messages.

No matter how many times you try Task29, Hardresets, Soft Resets, everytime the **** get bigger... I wasnt having these FILE OP problems, just the 0 space for 70mb (i have 1gb rom!!!) now I cant even flash any rom that while the custom install process it gives me this message and seems that no one except our 3 is experiencing this.... people will think we are crazy..
Look at his Picasa http://picasaweb.google.com/mkonrad88/HTCHD2#
I will post similar videos with some more errors later
HELL, after crashing my Euro HD2 and waiting 3 months for repair and for nothing, now I bought an Tmousa HD2 and having these issues
I'm not newbie, I already flashed my crashed Euro HD2 lot of times with no issues. I have no clue how to solve it.. Im in brazil and its too expensive to send it to .... who do I send ?? Tmobile? HTC? Will they care with an international buyer??
i am guessing no one has fixed this yet?
same problem here... FILEOP failed
I had that problem once...for me, the solution was to do a mtty format (task29 didn`t help) and after that install stock 1.66 rom from sd card. 3.14 rom gives me the same error...only 1.66 worked. After 1.66 rom, I was able to install 3.14, without any problems. Hope that will help you . Tutorial for mtty here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623356
have any of you installed HSPL?
bump for this old thread
i just got this problem today. my hd2 was running fine (on coredroid) until earlier today, out of no where i get a message saying that i have no more space in my internal memory (NAND) and i cannot see my contacts nor sms. funny thing is that i know it should have tons of free space because i install almost everything on my microSD.
Now that everytime i reboot the phone, i have to go through the initial setup wizard (like it was a brand new phone). apparently the phone cant save my setting due to no space. Because of that, my contacts and sms were wiped out. I really want to reformat or repartition NAND, but I need to figure out how to recover my contacts and SMS. I think it should be somewhere on NAND still. does anyone have an idea how to recover contacts and sms from NAND?
fyi: phone boots into android from nand just fine, so obviously the internal storage is still working. but after it finishes booting, it keeps saying that there's no more space in the internal memory.
I have Problem with my Rom-Memory. I got HD2 with miui rom and Mgdlr. My setting show Rom-Memory 165 MB total, 30 MB free. Ram is ok. Where are the other 200 MB Rom?
I uses hd2toolkit. Did i make some wrong change that i have now 2 partitions in my rom? It seem thast somewhere is 200 mb free rom-memory.
Hi
first off all I should thanks all developers of hd2 andriod who are the reason that we are always excited with our Hd2.
After Refreshing xda site for every 3 hours to see the nand release I finally managed to get the news...
After installing the nand version I was so excited speed was great battery life superb and extremely stable
so I have started migrating from my ram version to nand version
Soon I was installing my apps from market until I reached an error that I've never seen before "LOW MEMORY " I was shocked I checked the space and saw I only had 1 mb free space
I searched the forum and found out that some users has 100mb while some had 600mb free after installation, I thought it might be my and other mistakes which led to 100mb but after reading more I've found all 512mb rom HD2 will have 100mb free internal memory after installation
So if its gonna be like that I think I should step back to SD version only coz of internal memory,
I wanna know your suggestions.. or solution? Ive already tried moving some apps to sd but guys.... not all of them have the ability....

well hope the Devs will get EURO HD2 owners a ext4 partition on SD that will act as internal memory... i guess its being thought about.
in the meanwhile use apps like move2sd to install apps to SD...
oh i have LEO1024 no issues here
I just flashed the NEXUSHD2 and i have 216 mb of free space, that is more than enough for me.
i have like 700mb
I think that this thread is not for boasting about your Leo1024, but it rather raises an important issue. While ROMs from NAND are a big step ahead, running out of space is a serious problem, especially today, when apps can take about 20-30 mb (i.e. Opera Mobile 10, Firefox 4 with cache).
I see three possible solutions to this problem:
- using native froyo apps2fat, while being problematic, it's simple and available out of the box
- wait for developers to allow us to use data.img on our SD Card, like in good old SD Card builds
- or use apps2ext like all other Android users do (when it'll be possible).
Just down the App 2 SD app off market and move all the apps you downloaded to sd and that should free up your internal memory

Has anyone done this before?
I am getting the same problem... I hope a solution for this comes up fast.... nbot able to install any games....
I am using MDJ Gingerbread NAND Rom, and the solution I found was to move apps to SD using Titanium Backup paid app. Worth the price, trust me.

216 mb of free space for me to, with the exact same ROM.
this has been an issue since back in the days of the G1, not enough internal memory, this is why a lot of the newer android devices come with a bigger internal memory, apps2sd will solve the problem, so you can install apps on the sd card instead of the internal memory. You need to add it before you start to install apps to keep the internal memory at max.
I went into the system folder and deleted stuff i didnt need like ringtones, alarms, notifications, wallpapers. Left me with some amount of space but yeah, the real solution are apps that move apps to sd.
You guys are in luck. Takaaki has posted a test build he made for himself that can store the data on the sd card. You can even use your old hd2one data.img if you have used it before.

It's a test build and he won't be answering questions.

Hello Guys!
Searched the whole day for a solution bút nothing really answers my questions, so i will post here.
Is there any chance of moving apps from DeviceMemory (2GB) to the internal USB-Storage (11GB). I tried to use App2SD and tried it with the Android Onboard Tool but nothing will do it. It just keeps moving to external SD.
When the external SD is removed and you try to move an app there is just the advice: "not enough memory".
Addition: My memory option in settings looks like this:
http://s14.directupload.net/images/120513/3rhplf49.png
Total Memory: ~11GB
Other Data (red) - will show what u really use PLUS the amount of the external SD card
Is that the Problem that the OS thinks like in this Pic the USB Storage is too full (more full than its total size ^^) and let you only move to external SD?
Ok, long story short: Is there a way to move apps to the internal USB Storage?
Thanks!
Have you looked to see what's on you're internal sd? Remember that it won't be wiped by a normal ROM flash unless you specify, so data will build up flash by flash.
Sorry, I know it sounds pedantic, but first thing to try.
what spec phone do you have?

If i move an app from applications in settings with the command "move to SD" i will see in the Storage overview that the device Storage gets smaller and the storage from external SD gets bigger.. The USB-Storage (internal SD) stay the same.
The path for the files were /mnt/asec (?) there i found some files..
And the thing with non wipe and data: Got my Note as off. ICS LPY was released and flashed it out of the box with ICS. There is nothing from older roms..
What do you mean with Spec Phone? I have a Austrian Galaxy Note GT-N7000 with official ICS LPY on it running..
PS: The problem with apps cant move to internal storage is also on Galaxy S2 present.
Can anyone try to move apps from device to the internal storage? I think that its a bug in ICS.
First things first, I would recommend downgrading to stock GB, check out Dr. ketans thread in the stickies of the ROM development thread.
It seems unlikely, but since your on lpy, there's a possibility that your data is corrupt, have to say am not sure about this at all.
There's also a thread about the issues with lpy, lpf kernel that's worth reading from abisahara.
Please, anyone else have any further recommendations, please ignore me.

------
double-post sorry..
First of all thanks for your attempt to help me out.
But whats the sense of downgrading? And nope, data isn´t corrupt can move things from pc to the phone without any problem, everthing is OK.
The only problem is to move Apps to internal USB-Storage (11GB) that wont work. There are others too with this problem and their phone never touched custom rom or anything, just the official ICS OTA Update.
Btw. i remeber i saw peopole with Galaxy S2 with the same problem on the net.
You have a Note too - try it for yourself to move apps from Device Mem (2GB) to Internal USB.Storage (11GB). I bet it wont work. Its not a special problem to me i think its a general problem.
Also is the data corruption not an effect from wiping? Havent wiped my phone yet one time..
regards.
Data corruption occurs from any large data movement, weather it's wipe, or deleting large files, there's suggestion that 2GB is the danger point but I experienced issues after writing a 500mb file that started fcs across the board.
I'm more than likely overreacting and apologies for this. Maybe someone with more experience can help better.

Hey.
Just forget the data corruption, man! I´m fine with this till now and that doenst belong to my problem..
I just want to put some apps (e.g angry birds) to my internal USB Storage and that dont work i only can move apps to the real external SD, other people have the problem too and i want to know if this is on all ICS releases from Samsung with splitted memory??
@Jaysus88, I understand your problem and frustration since I have the exactly same problem and frustration. After some search, I feel the problem may be because some phone manufacturers disabled the "Move to USB storage" capability. BTW, my phone is Samsung Galaxy Note-N7000 with ICS.
I just registered the account to share potential solutions. I was suggested two solutions (I haven't got chance to try them myself yet):
1. Root the system and somehow re-partition the internal storage to increase "Device memory" (and shrink "USB storage").
2. Add an actual SD card and "Move to SD card" instead of "Move to USB storage".
(just realized that new users cann't post links :-( )
Both 1 and 2 have limitations that I don't know for sure:
For 1, is it really possible to re-size the storage partitions after rooting the phone?
For 2, ICS may not support some SD cards; moving too many apps to SD card may also cause rebooting issues for Android (we can easily find a lot of complaints about this issue, such as the Android issue id 25563 on google code).
If you find another more robust solution, I would love to hear about it! This is another reason I registered my account.
Hi!
Found that in Themes & Apps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652079
This will change the mounting points for external and internal SD. It should work.
For myself i leave it as it is.
I am running the latest Dorimanx ROM and am having a problem that has plagued this phone since I bought it.
Simply stated, I never have enough memory to download any third-party apps.
This is a fresh load with downloads or tweaks.
Hereis what is shown under Storage:
SD Storage
Total space: 6.97 gb
Available space: 6.56gb
Internal Storage
Total space: 11.25mb
Available space 1.21mb
Then when I go to download an app I get the message:
"Error downloading 'X' (name of app) . There is insufficient space on the device."
I have set the download location to External, under Settings>Application Settings>Install Location>External, but upon downloading I never get a choice of where to put the app, and it is not defaulting to External like it should. I have had this problem forever and stopped using the phone because of it. I would like to get it fixed once and for all. It is a terminally stupid problem.
I would appreciate any help with this problem as it makes the phone useless.
Thanks,
Labans
Did you replace the init.gz !?
Go to the ROMs thread & rear the full details & requirements for install as in some instances packages need to be added.
also use the thread search function in the ROM thread as quite a lot of Q&A in the thread on this due to people not installing to the guidelines.
