hey guys ur current phone the g2 is kind of outdated and i think u guys should get a mytouch 4g slide. tmobile is giving out the mytouch 4g slide as a replacement. the mytouch has a cm7 rom, a sense 3.0 rom, multiple ics roms, and recently it got a miui rom released. i really think u guys should consider gettin this phone because it has a keyboard like the g2 and its super fast.
I have a samsung galaxy s2. I have the g2 as a backup phone.

Exactly, I'm holding out for that. Besides, it will be a world phone (other versions of it like the Desire Z vs G2) instead of the MyTouch plasticy models for US specifically. Looking forward to those 2nd (maybe 3rd?) Gen dual cores with significant power saving and GPU upgrades like in the Ville this summer.
What an amazingly useless post.

FFC? Who cares? How many of your friends REALLY have a phone with an FFC? Okay, maybe all of one or two if one happens to have an Evo and another happens to have an iPhone 4. And you're really inclined to call either of these people versus texting them? Right. And since you're so inclined, now you really have to use up your strength to hold your phone a foot away from your body in order for the camera to get your whole face in the camera for the entire conversation?
If you answered yes to all these questions, you are in a very small, small minority.

Haha, thanks man appreciate that. I just wanted a change, and a slightly bigger screen.
And in anticipation of ICS, I figured a dual core processor like the Tegra2 would be better to run ICS. And I like the build quality and hardware of the G2x. Pretty top notch. Plus the re-sale value is better, I hate how the MT4G is so cheap nowadays.

So you haven't had any issues with the G2X? Currently I'm choosing b/t the G2X & Sensation, but I'm not really sure which is better. I thought G2X had backlight bleeding or something like that. But, I'm leaning to the Sensation since I wanted a higher res.

No, G2x has been perfect so far. I love the Tegra 2 because it never heats up with light useage like Snapdragon's. And the build quality and external speakers are great. I have slight screen bleed on the top right. But I don't notice it unless the screen is all blacked out with high brightness. So it's no real issue.
I would probably chose the Sensation because oh the qHD and slightly bigger screen. But the G2x is great too.

Mostly because it's VERY hard to adapt a whole different framework and kernel across different manufacturers. Even with the same manufacturer it isn't always easy (Nexus One still doesn't have a proper Sense 3 ROM, while its cousin Desire has it running stable for months - because kernel adaptation without source isn't easy).
Too much work, too little to gain.

Agree that its capable of running it. Can you imagine what ICS mysense will look like though?
Its a pity, the myTouch 4G seems to be even more capable than the Nexus S because of the 50% more memory... I myself am looking to switch from a Galaxy S series phone to the myTouch 4G because of the crazy amount of swapping going on because of the small amount of RAM...
The myTouch 4G is basically an HTC Sensation without the 2nd core, but with dual core mattering so little at the moment, it really does suck that the myTouch won't get an official update...

This doesnt belong in the Android Development section, belongs in GENERAL.
My bad I thought it was general at first. The system will automaticly do it for me as usual.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
ummm my opinion on it is that if they dont want to they shouldnt. It will give us an awesome rom but more importantly that means our wonderful devs are learning stuff. this means that in the future they can use these experiences to help them in work or in other aspects of there personal lifes. so dev on guys you are doing great
Why in the world should they stop working on ICS? It makes little sense.
Deck and Kang and others are making great ICS ROMs for lots of phones, not just the EVO4G.
htc will release the code.. because it is an open source project. when is the question, not if.
ics will come..

The OS code is open source. The device drivers are not last I knew. So no, HTC does not have to release driver code.
HTC may release the FFC code for our OG's as soon as they sell enough of their newer devices.
They seem to be dragging their feet in releasing the official ICS updates for the Evo 3D and the Evo Design when they said they would, but they're holding it back, why? Cuz they want to sell enough of the One series models before they officially update the older HTC models that are scheduled to be updated with ICS.
Its kinda crappy of HTC to do that, but hey, they're a "for-profit" business.
But in answer to your question, heck no they shouldn't stop developing ICS for our OG Evo's! This sh*t is fun as hell.

what is the point of this thread? why is that a question? sorry no disrespect.
Yeah, I don't get why a thread was started for this. But why should devs abandon ICS on Evo? Because they can't get FFC to work!? I've been on ICS since the minute they got camera working (around Xmas), and could NEVER imagine going back to GB or Froyo (well, ...maybe froyo).

The evo is EOL(end of life) HTC doesn't have to support it any longer meaning they won't release any source for it as they are not working on ICS for the device. Hardware mfgs may release source for the same hardware in other devices, like they did with the adreno or the devs may code their own drivers. But don't expect HTC to do a damn thing for the evo, period.

All I'm saying we have a lot of people love the ics Rom but some people hate it cause no 4G. But let me tell one thing about the ics it came a lot since then and like some people who are poor or they don't make a lot of money, its hard to keep up with ics roms when the last two months the biggest change was 4.0.4 which is like starting all over again. Don't get me wrong with the debate about their work, its freaking amazing, but the biggest break through will be the ffc. Closest to that is from a horse ride to a plane ride experience
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
I don't think that they should stop working on the ICS ROM's. I went from Sense to Ice Cream Sense to ICS and having ICS on my phone is like having a brand new phone. We don't have 4G in our area, and the front facing camera I hardly used. I am using gummyWorms ICS right now and so far had no major problems with it. There are minor glitches sometimes but, that is no big deal. I hope that the ICS developers can get everything working and I know that it will take time to do so. I appreciate all of their hard work in bringing us some ICS goodness to our phones.
I think everyone knew it wasn't going to happen, but now its confirmed.

I'd like to know what they mean by HTC EVO 4G"+". At first I thought the LTE version but that ships with ICS so doesn't make sense. Anyone care / able to explain?
possibly the europe version not sure.. that's what i thought too..
Evo Design 4G
It's coming to the Evo Design 4G (which has the same radio and camera) next month or the month after, so that's promising for us getting 4G and a good camera on ICS.
The Evo 4G+ is the chinese branding of the Evo 3D. But, if someone got Sense 4 working on the HD2, I think we can get it working on the Shift.
Just because the Shift officially isn't getting ICS, doesn't mean it won't get ported over.
