My facebook notifications not working, it worked good untill latest update,
I hate when I can't rely on notifications. So, I've deactivated and activated my profile, turned on Facebook on Xperia as usually, cleared cache,downgraded, flashed .42 fw... But it doesnt worked for me. Anyone have some issues like i have?

It's a bug of the Facebook App, not of the Xperia Arc.
Damn with that bug. Affected with that bug from day 1 of my Arc!
My notifications have been working fine on my Arc.
Facebook for Android app notification doesn't work for me too, but Facebook inside Xperia notification works pretty well.
btw, notifications started to work. i dont know what happened and why, i unistalled updates, and was using old one, for few hours, notifications started coming, and i updated to latest, it works fine for now.

Hi all. I can not find any solution to this. I have set up my phone to never update anything on auto, and yet my Facebook app (preinstalled one) still notifies me on friend requests, so still there is some updating taking place. I've turned of gmail sync and SE sync and everything else that allows updating even in the FB app settings, anyone else experience this? It is only this that seems to update though but still, it should'nt.

Mine is set for no updates and yet it tells me when there is an App update available.......................weird, its possessed!
It became a problem about four or five days ago. When I try to launch the app, it "stopped unexpectedly". And the widget is always totally blank.

Is it facebook specifically? Because I hear that there are problems with HTC's facebook app, and all users are affected (including Evo, etc.)

I did wonder about that and I've tried to get into the settings to get Facebook out of there but it crashes before I can get that far.
One of my friends who has that Facebook problem (I don't; as far as I can tell my Facebook still works) says that his FriendStream is fine.
So I don't know
My friendstream works fine with facebook, but everything else facebook related from htc doesn't.
There are lots of reports out there as well about facebook friendstream failing, too, but I only stumble across them when looking for fixes to my OTHER facebook sense-ui issues.

I emailed HTC and all they told me was how to add my Facebook account (even after I initially told them that I did). They also said to make sure that I have a work city listed in my Facebook profile. Why? I don't know. *shrug*
I had this problem and I fixed it by just deleting my profile and re laughing it to make sure the app was working then turned off my phone then turned it back on and then add the account back

Confirming that deleting and readding your account fixes the force close on Friend Stream

I have an X10a from Rogers, 2.1(official upgrade), rooted and ever since running the 2.1 update my email notification has been inconsistant at best. With the stock email program it worked sporadically. Sometimes it doesn't even sync... I open the app, load new messages and they appear. Sometimes it makes a sound and puts the indicator in the status bar but no flashing led and sometimes everything works.
I tried K9 and that seemed to work but no led, so I loaded Maildroid and everything was fine for a while but now even that is sporadic.
I currently have my stock email notifications disabled, gmail sync enabled, maildroid sync enabled, wake up ever 15 mins in sleep to check email and still it only works sometimes.
I would prefer just using the stock email client as it seemed nicer on battery useage. Is there a way to uninstall it and reinstall it easily? I almost tried it with Titanium backup but the warning that i might need to reflash scared me off doing it.
Any thoughts?
Same thing i noticed with mine , Email is really bad after the update , can know for sure when i get a new Email

This is two forums and no one has been able to suggest anything to fix it. I think i'll just go back to the stock email client and live with it... checking manually whenever I remember.
This would be my one major complaint about the 2.1 upgrade...aside from it I'm pleased with the rest.
I use shangmail.it works great.

Re: my issue, i've noticed that it definitely seems that it's the syncing that's not happening moreso than the notification. I can send an email and until I open my client and load more messages, it won't appear where in the past it would pull down the email, notify me and then when I checked it was already there.
Okay...so I reflashed 2.1 on the phone last night. Immediately after the flash everthing was working fine. Then I rooted, installed Titanium backup and started to restore my apps and data... one at a time instead of the batch. At some point it stopped working again even though I didn't install 100% of the things I had on before.
Then briefly I uninstalled Super Security Standard and it started working again...but that didn't last.
I suppose it must be something i've installed, but it's really frustrating that the behavior isn't consistant. Aside from reflashing and then testing after restoring each app, I don't know what I can do.
It's definitely a syncing issue, not a notification issue. Installed a couple of free gmail notifiers and they don't work because the emails aren't sync'd until i go into the email client and manually load new mail.
What could be blocking the gmail sync?
Okay..some more searching has revealed a workaround. I cleared the cache for Gmail app and Gmail storage, rebooted and added the power control widget and cycled the sync button.
Now I can get email notifications when I cycle the sync...but only then. In the thread I found doing this once seemed to 'unstick' the sync, but that's not happening with me.
What sorts of things can 'hang' the sync? I'm still guessing some apps i've installed...
Anybody having problems with the Facebook push notification problems. For some reason it just wont work on my desire hd.
I have tried to clear cache uninstall the update and restore the rom. I have tried all the available roms and stock by going back by installing a ruu.
How to I get it working?

I think the push notifications are not working properly yet. I used to receive push notifications from the Facebook App previously but not anymore now. So until they have released another update, I don't think the notifications are working properly.

Same here, when they updated it I was getting push notifications for a couple of weeks but now I only get notified every 4 hours (my update time for fb) or when I launch the app.
It looks like I will have to rely on email for now then. Please post with any changes if u have success in getting this to work.
It doesn't matter if I am 2g, 3g or wifi, it simply does not work...

Having the same problem on my Inspire as well
its just a shame that a big company like facebook have a big issue like this. Got an ipod touch 4g and its driving me mad that notifications are pushed to the ipod at the speed of the light and on my DHD absolutely nothing.
facebook,please release an app that work just as it should.
btw i have some push notification problems also with whatsapp. anyone else?
Interesting, my Friend Stream has stopped working and it refuses to sign in now however my Facebook for Android app is working fine, I've just updated from 1.4.1 to 1.5.1 and it still works. I have not tested the push notification yet, let me give that a go.
I think HTC/android has a real problem with push, hotmail push doesnt work, facebook and twitter either.
Basic stuff that needs to be sorted.
I never get any FB notifications either.
Also have the occasional push problem with Gmail (see link in my sig below).
Never had any issues like this with my old Hero!

Seriously, bb and facebook rock. Android and fb suck. I get NO notifications. Ever. Why? I dont know why. I read on here that people do get notifications so what the deal is? Why am i not getting any?
This is on stock, on root, cm7, and same issues on my g2 and mt4g, and nether one of my phones with 2 different facebook accounts for two different people get notifications. Is there a setting in facebook on the desktop that im unaware of?

There are better and alternate facebook apps on the market maybe the notifications will work with those. I have no notification issue myself with the official app but there are other options you can try. Account/sync settings may be some help as well.

I get the exact same issue, No matter what android phone I had. No notifications are being pushed to my phone at all. I did have it working at some point, but it suddenly stopped.
Yea mine was working when I first had my mt4g, but even then it was not up to date much. Then all the sudden it stopped. Back then I was running iced glacier rom on that phone

I rarely use Facebook so I'm probably not the best indication of whether notifications are working on not, but I noticed that I used to get them fine with the old version of the app, it stopped working/worked sporadically for about two versions, and then it started working again with the latest update that just came out last week.
Like I said though, I rarely get any notifications to begin with so maybe it is still sporadic and I've just been lucky so far (especially since it seems like a lot of people have had nothing but problems with the latest update).

I downloaded the new version last night.... no changes other than the notifications screen works in landscape

Ok sadly none of us seemed to think about this...
Typically, when I open facebook, I see a list of posts, then I back out and I see notifications screen, then I back out again and think its still running but in reality, its actually turned off.
Instead of backing out of the program like anything else, just hit the home button to exit fb and notifcations work just fine.

Same here. I am also using the official app and no notifications are being pushed to me either, and they are enabled. I am running stock software on my G2. My girlfriend has Mytouch 3G and she gets the notifications. Pretty weird stuff.
I just did the facebook app update the other day and my notifications are now working.
I am running CM 6.1.1
make sure in facebook app settintgs you have a CHECK next to notifications and refresh interval set to 1 hour.
also make sure contact sync is ON, which might help?
I don't use facebook.
Ehh, I'm not gunna complain, the fb is 100% better than it was half a year ago.lol. but yeah, +1 for the no notifications.

well like i said above, dont back out of the program, just hit the home button and leave it running.
if using a task killer, ignore FB. i have been getting notifications since yesterday when i tried this. apparently, FB must be running in order for notifications to work, exiting the program or killing it completely does not allow for push notifications to run thru.
Flow for Facebook is a really good alternative app. It has an option to use the email notifications you get from facebook and switch that over to use for the app. For example, If someone comments on my post I will see the email thing appear but it will disappear and switch to the flow notification saying its for facebook and what not. Theres an option to delete the emails too when it gets notified(paid version). Try it out, I have both official and flow. Flow is so i get instant notifications and the official is just for playing around because flow doesnt have chat yet.

but same probleme here... I wish I could receive several sort of notifications... (birthday, event...). Now, I just receive mail....
I get notifications you need to set it up in facebook? If you not done that take a look at privacy settings. I requested on notifications when people add me on post on my wall that's it to many get really annoying......

I don't bother with the FB app notifications, they don't seem to work anyway. I just use the FB texts.
Well, I gave up on the FB App notifications months ago. So I just set up my account so it sends me texts anytime I get a notification. Way easier, at least for me. I didn't have that many problems with notifications still, but they were always late. Like a minute or so. Texts are faster, at least with me. Just saying :3
