me and my friend have this bug, when we are using the stock headphones and listening to podcasts or sat nat, when we pull out the headphones jack it starts the the music player, does anybody else have this small niggle
Got the same Bug using my Sennheiser in-ear headphones. Everything is fine when I use stock headphones.
Even when I'm playing music with mort player, stock-HTC-music player starts and plays music in shuffle mode. Player switches songs every 2 seconds. That's really sh**.
I have found some people on german pocketpc.ch board who have same problems. but they have no idea...hope froyo will fix that bug.

That happens to me with stock headphones. Sometimes when I unplug them one of the music/mp3 apps starts playing, skipping, etc. Usually is Google Listen which is the app I use most, but it also happened with the stock music app and Doubletwist.
I've found, could be pure coincidence, that it happens less if I unplug the headphones from within the home screen.
I think it's the difference between an angled and a straight 3,5mm Jack plug
I tested different headphones.
Stock phones: straight jack plug -> no problems
Sennheiser CX300: angled -> problems
Sony MDR-XB500 headphones: straight jack plug -> no problems
I had a lot of problems with my sennheiser - so I tested the Sony with straight plug - normally when I shake/move the legend the music starts skipping - but with Sony headphones it did not. I think there's a problem when you connect the headphones with legend - software try to check if you have normal headphones or headset connected. You can see 2 different symbols in status bar next to battery symbol.
For some odd reason whenever I plug in headphones or my aux cord into the headphone port the music starts playing through the phone earpiece. This just randomly started after I woke up and I uninstalled any new apps and reset settings in poweramp and rebooted. No music plays through the headphones or my car when the aux cord or headphones are plugged in, only through the earpiece and when nothings plugged in it plays through the phone speaker just fine. Any ideas or clues? Any help is much appreciated, probably something right in front of my face

Idk what did it but I my phone died and when I charged it and turned it on everything worked again
In PowerAMP, uncheck the box here:
Settings -> Headset Options -> Resume on Headset Connections
Good luck.
Hello, I just got my unlocked Aria from eBay and when I try to listen music through my headphones it doesn't work. I have tried on my computer and they work just fine. Also the speakers are working just fine. The only way that I can get it to work is by reset the device or turn on the FM radio. I'm using the stock version from att 2.1, with sense. This is getting annoying, please help.
Pd. Sorry for the english.

I've also got a similar issue with the headphone jack.. sometimes, it just won't work.
A soft reset fixes the problem, but it's kinda annoying because the phone takes a while to boot and load everything up!~
It's strange, because upon plugging in the earphones, it automatically "Plays" music without me having to press play.

Yesh! Thanks Darius! It was PowerAmp! That solves my auto-play problem..
Still wondering why the headphone jack doesnt work sometimes...
Got a question to those who using Poweramp. are you guys hearing static hissing noise while playing mp3 with poweramp? Read it somewhere else said it could be hardware grounding problem, but that's probably wrong because I can't hear the same hiss in the stock music player. But the stock player sound is damn flat when playing music
any help would be appreciated.
I got the same hiss sound in MX Player on one of the custom ICS roms. Can't remember which one. Went back to Stunner.
On any custom rom?

Nope, no poweramp problems here with headphones or with BT connection to car audio. Rooted on stock ROM.

I have never touched the configuration in poweramp and I have never had the slightest problem, even at + 10db with voodoo louder.

The hissing noise is normal regarding the Galaxy Note. It's there with every player.

Maybe with every player, but not with every note...
Hi, try to disable the direct volume control under settings-> audio engine-> advanced tweaks

As far as I know hardware and software are the same for every note. So it should be there. Naturally, some people won't notice it. That's just the way it is.
That's total BS. I have never experienced any hissing either with Poweramp or stock player. I think there would a lot of very angry Note users if this was the case. I previously used a Rockboxed 5th gen iPod with an ibasso amp and now use the Note as my primary player as the SQ is so good!

Poweramp closes after two or three songs for me every time. It beeps four times, freezes up and needs a phone restart to get going again. Very disappointed after paying for it.

It freezes here too sometimes.. Have to report it to the developers...
But what is wierd is bluetooth audio stutters alot sometimes and nothing can resolve this but a reboot. Changing the music player doesn't help neither...

No hissing here, but i'm using PlayerPro. I used PowerAMP before but i can't remember hearing any hissing.
thx for the input guys. problem turn out to be the dspmanager, i totally forgot it is still there in my note, and still activated with it equalizer. I turned that off and it's all good now. Probably that's the reason I am hearing hiss in poweramp but not in stock player.. :x

Never had the first freeze or hiccup from poweramp, either on my xoom or on my note. Listened to music in my truck today for 4 hours straight (car stereo via BT from note) without any glitches, and that has been my experience with PA for over a year now (incl xoom time). Perhaps try uninstall and reinstall, then if that doesn't work look for potentially conflicting apps... don't think PA is the ultimate cause of your issues.

That happens to me too.
Although, it is more random for me. Sometimes it is after 30 minutes of listening.
I get the beeps though.
Also, sometimes it stutters a bit and then beeps and stops.
At first I thought it was my BT headphones not working, but other sounds come through fine, so it's not them.
Sometimes PowerAmp will still show the pause button (ie, it looks like it's still playing), but if you press it, nothing happens. It doesn't change appearance and it doesn't start playing again, no matter how many times you press it.
I have to force close it through the application manager to get work again.
I only just started using PowerAmp about a week ago and bought the full version because I liked the EQ and the appearance on the Note, but I might have to go back to WinAmp.
I'm on the latest stock ROM, with root.

i see you found it was dsp manager...i've noticed it too..but only in certain scenarios....
i get this when i'm plugged into some USB ports to charge on various work laptops and listening to music...and also some power inverters...but this ONLY happens to me at work when I'm using my note in the truck and charging (as the laptops would be plugged into the same inverter I get the hissing/buzzing sound from if I plug directly into the inverter)....
pretty sure it's just bad ground or dirty power in the work trucks though...

@duckettmarc
i haven't experience the closing issue either....i've listened to poweramp for hours on end, hundreds of songs without crashing...where is your media stored? external SD? either way, I would guess either the storage area you have your music in, or your actual music is corrupted....or maybe some instability if overclocked, undervolted, or with the ROM you use...

No its not. Check the according threads discussing the notes audio Chip. As soon as you plug in your headphones and the Chip Starts working there is a hissing noise.

Re-read the according threads, it doesn't happen on every note.
Nothing to do with the M1CN2
I'm having the same problems. The thing is, it only started happening a few months ago when they brought out a major update...

Try
Making sure the headphones are going all the way in.
Different headphones
Try a different app
Check calling via headphones
Clean the port ( compressed air, something not too abrasive)
Check audio output on whatever program you're using ie: Dolby, viper etc
Reboot
Re install ROM (clean) don't restore any settings to the fresh install.
Check firmware
Change ROM
If you've done all this, provide us with more information, let us know specifically what set up you have.
Root status
ROM
Firmware
Did you install using a clean install
App to play music with
What you've tried.
My moneys on the headphones and or the port being dirty / blocked.
Hope this helps.
Having the same problem with mine. I am using Xiaomi piston 2 headphones and sound plays out of the speaker and not the headphones.

Not having a problem with any of my other headphones but I like that particular pair a lot. Just hurt my heart that two of my favorite things are not compatible.

Problem solved..your device does not like those headphones.. Could be the jack of your headphones or the amount of sections on the 3.5mm jack. Either way it looks like its not going to play.
I have same issue with my Piston2 as well. I noticed if you either put it in VERY slowly, and or a button when pressing in. The audio will work (but the buttons on the Piston2 still malfunction)

Try using the headphones with another phone or computer? Just to make sure nothing is wrong with the cans themselves.
