did I brick my g2

I tried to perma-root my G2 using visionary r14. I was dumb enough to assume I didn't have to do anything manually. Did I have to turn S-OFF thing off before trying to permaroot? Now I'm stuck at HTC boot screen. Did I brick my G2?
this is very important take out ur battery put it back in after hold to power + Vol down button and see if ur thing says S-off in the top right corner of the screen if it does u have a semi brick and that all the knowledge i know so see if some else can help u further
It says S-on

You ignorant fool. You do realize this was exactly what htc was trying to prevent with the NAND lock? Dumb people screwing up their phones and then trying to return them. Don't encourage people to go screw htc out of $600.

If you get get into HBOOT (vol down and power) then you haven't bricked it and should be able to flash a ROM from HBOOT.
It is not bricked, but you don't sound comfortable with anything advanced. Let someone who knows what they are doing fix it for you.
I can boot to HBOOT. Is there a thread that can help me? Should I try to factory reset? If I need to flash an image, which one should I try?
Here's what it says on HBOOT screen
VISION PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.82.0000
MICROP-0425
RADIO-26.03.03.26_M

Um, no. HTC does not loose $600. They loose a little labor and the cost of referbishing the phone. All they have to do is reflash the phone through the usb port and its ready to go in a couple minutes. Seems like they could get less returns if they opened up the bootloader and made it impossible to brick.
... you can't make anything *impossible* to brick. Even your home computer... wipe the bios and it's bricked.... need to pull the bios off and reprogram it the hard way.
Now with radio s-off, this is pretty much in the same state... you could theoretically have a blank hboot and still recover it, with just a USB cable.

while the situation looks bad (and is) i don't think you're without hope.
i currently investigating both s-on and s-off osbl-based recovery options.
definitely try to get them to replace your phone if possible (as i can do my testing on my functioning phone) but if not, i don't think you're without hope.

Do you have S-off, pull the battery, then reinstall it then volume down + power, the first screen with the skateboarding andriods, the first line will say "VISION PVT SHIP S-OFF" or "S-ON", what does the first line say?

New Mytouch fender user, semi-bricked. Looking for help

Hey guys, I am a decently experienced android user (D1, D2, Eris, SGS, etc). But I seem to have run into a problem. I had rooted a friend of mines MyTouch Fender months ago, using some root app, I forget which, z4root or one of those.
Anyways, he came to me the other day because he got a new phone, and the MyTouch Fender is semi-bricked, im not sure what he did, he said he was playing with it and screwed it up. Anyways, the phone just stays at the Fender loading screen. I can access hboot, recovery etc. The phone is completely stock, 32A, S-ON Google, etc. So what would be the easiest way for me to get this phone going again? He's given the phone to me for free, and I would like to get it working to give to my gf to replace her crackberry curve.
If someone could point in the right direction that would be great. Unfortunately I have no idea what he did to break it in the first place. I've tried wiping data and cache via stock recovery to no avail. Is there maybe a stock oem update.zip that could be flashed via recovery that would flash it back to stock?
I do eventually want to mod the phone and probably throw CM6 on it, but for now I'd rather just bring it back to working stock. Unless rooting it and custom recoveries would be faster.
Thanks in advance.
It's certainly fixable, but I don't know about getting back to stock. The issue is that no one has an actual stock Fender sappimg (sappimg being a file you flash from fastboot to get completely back to stock). The things you will lose by rooting will be the extra Fender apps and the Fender splash image (the first image you see when booting the phone). That's pretty much all that's missing, but there's a group of guys working on getting it back in order. So it all really depends on what you want to do right now. Do you want to root and install a custom recovery/ROM (which will be the quickest fix right now) or would you rather wait until someone can get a similar stock image put back together?
Since you can't get into the ROM, you'll have to root using the goldcard method. Luckily for you it seems you have an extra Android powered phone around to be able to make the goldcard (you need to be able to boot the phone to complete this process).
At either rate, the best way to go about getting you straightened out would be for you to post the phone's current fastboot information. To do this, turn the phone off, then turn it back on holding the back button+power. Post everything from there.
Thanks man. Here's the info from HBOOT:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPP31000)
CLPD-13
RADIO-2.22.28.25
For the moment I would like whatever is the easiest way to get it close to stock. My problem is I don't always readily have access to a computer, but I have lots of android phones, lol. I'd like if I could just make a goldcard on another phone if possible, and flash a normal stock image from another dream/sapphire that is compatible. Is this possible?

hello first post
You could flash the stock sappimg for the myTouch 1.2. The myTouch 1.2 is the one that came out after the Fender. Same everything minus the Fender splash screen and apps. It also isn't capable of getting the 2.2.1 OTA update that came out last month. It's also stock 1.6, but it is very stable and pretty fast considering the phone's hardware.
I can tell that you that your friend's phone got hosed doing the OTA update and he could've gotten a Samsung Vibrant as a trade-out if he would've called T-Mobile about the issue, but we won't tell him that.
Rooting would require computer access. Actually, you'll need a computer period. Either rate. Before we do anything, try booting into recovery (hold home+power) and doing a "wipe data/factory reset" and then reboot. We could also try just reapplying the update.
You can hit me up on Google Talk at [email protected] if you want to get this sorted out tonight instead of having to go back and forth.
Do you have custom recovery or stock recovery...
If it is custom recovery, then fixing your problem(s) is pretty straight forward...

Got him on Google Talk. Apparently his friend or the former owner hosed the phone doing the OTA since he's got the new radio and the SPL is untouched. We're going to try re-flashing the OTA update and maybe root later on. He's just trying to get it back working.
Yup. Stock recovery. From what I just got from the guy I got it from, it died after/while doing the ota update. It stuck on the splash when it went to reboot.
My guess its due to the fact I rooted the phone like 8 months ago, and removed a bunch of stuff via adb. Including probably what it considers some critical system stuff.

cannot unroot phone!!!!

hi all. im kinda new to this forum stuff. anyway, a couple months ago i permrooted my g2 with visionary, and last week my phone's touch screen stopped responding. so, i decided to ship my phone in to tmobile. however, i attempted to unroot (xda process) and i skipped the step about editing my image with HexEditor before placing the PCIMG10.zip on my phone. technically my phone is still "rooted" with clockwork and s-on. I want to COMPLETELY unroot my phone, but have no clue on what to do next, as i tried to turn s-off with terminal. Please Help.

Follow the Wiki method to unroot, and don't skip any steps.... you'll be fine.
That's the problem I'm having. I turned s-on before completley unrooting my phone. Everytime I go into terminal to turn s-off, to try and restart the unrooting process, I enter the codes and it says "d: cannot be found" or something like that. Gah!

What I am gonna do to go "Completely Stock" --Help me here people please--

So, after rooting with revolutionary tool, i gotta go back to stock for waranty purposes.
My stock version is an arabic one, so here is what I am gonna do,
1. Use a WWE froyo RUU.
2. Push hboot 1.0.0001 through ADB.
3. Run my locale version RUU (Arabic One) (Froyo) which will bring me to hboot 1.0.0002. --iHope--
Is this procedure right ?!
Please I need fast feedback in order to start doing it as I need to send my phone to waranty as soon as possible.
Thanks everyone!
Please refer to this thread
PS: First time I used that RUU my hboot was 0.8.x so I only had to run the .exe file WHILE THE PHONE WAS BOOTED INTO BOOTLOADER ( Hold Power Button>Reboot>Bootloader)
I re-rooted my phone soon after with Revolutionary but did not used any RUU.exe because I will not go stock yet.
If the RUU won't work while the phone is ON, just reboot it into Bootloader, that should do the trick.
after rooting my wildfire and testing many Roms and even going back to the original RUU, i can say that it will never be like the stock Rom
Thx guys for your effort,
but I know how to do all this, I am not that newbie!
I just wanted to know if the procedure is right, so I can be safe!
And I just did it, and I am done, smoothly with no problems!
Have you got your S-ON? I want to know because I want to unroot soon for warranty reasons and my phone was S-Off since I got it from Vodafone...

Yes I did, with hboot 1.0.0002 and COMPLETE stock, just as I got it from the factory!
Good to know that. I just remembered that my bootloader was unlocked when I bought the phone from Vodafone so I cannot get S-On back...
Nevertheless, I will try my luck soon. I just need to find the warranty sheet ) ....I lost it and cannot find it....lol

Did you root using the gfree method...?
-Team Inferno
"Quality, not speed"
If you rooted with gfree (and you are), look at the unrooting instructions in gfree thread ("Ultimate S-OFF" in Development section).
yea i used gfree ill look it up and see if it works ty
yea that was the same one i tried before it didnt work
Did you load the original 2.2.1 firmware on the phone, temp-rooted it, and executed gfree with the right flag to make it turn the S-ON back?
I guess you didn't, otherwise it would work.
Please do now.

Please read the thread I mentioned in the first of my posts above.
