I installed CM7 and got double image (red and blue) when playing some of mp4 videos. The video is normal if I play it on my PC. Here's the property shown by MPC:
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 640x480 15.00fps [Output 1]
Audio: AAC 48000Hz stereo 48kbps [Output 2]
I guess it is codec issue, but have no idea how to resolve it. Appreciate if you can help.

I'm sure this can't be too hard...
I'm playing around with converting YouTube videos so they can play back on my Dopod. Currently I am using Free FLV Converter v3.5.0, but I always get video that play back jerky in Windows Media Player Mobile 9 (off my 8GB MicroSD card).
Can anyone recommend the best settings for video on a Hermes? Currently using:
Codec: WMV2
Size: 320x240
Video Bitrate: 750Kbps
Frame Rate: 25
Aspect: Auto
Audio Codec: WMA
Frequency: 22050
Channel Mode: Mono
Audio Bitrate: 96Kbps
Google a copy of Any Video Converter. I use it to convert WMA, FLV, anything really into MP4 format (Which our phones record in natively, so playback is smooth and clear). I use the follow video setting in Any Video Converter after choosing the mobile/pocket pc option:
Video Codec: MP4
Video Size: 320x240 (This fills the whole screen in landscape)
Video Bitrate: 512
Video Framerate: 30fps
Audio Codec: aac
Audio Bitrate: 64
Sample Rate: 11025
Audio Channel: 2
Disable Audio: 2
A/V Sync: Basic
With these settings, the video's I convert look nice.
Thanks, but do those play back in Windows Media Player Mobile 9, or do you use different software to play them back?
Using those settings in Free FLV Converter v3.5.0 results in an AVI file that gives "Cannot Play File" when trying it on my Dopod
Woohoo! The exact same settings with the free version of Any Video Converter works perfectly! Thanks!
I've got some h264 encoded mp4 files on my mem card, and Album won't list them to allow me to play them.
Anyone got any ideas why? I also can't play them in WMP [blank screen] or Coreplayer [extremely stuttery playback].
The mp4 encoded mp4 files are fine.
This is the ffmpeg of the h264 file:
Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from 'Nightwatch.mp4':
Duration: 01:49:39.76, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 1148 kb/s
Stream #0.0(eng): Video: h264, yuv420p, 720x400, 25 tbr, 25 tbn, 50 tbc
Stream #0.1(und): Audio: aac, 44100 Hz, stereo, s16
Actually, if I open it into Album through File Manager, I still can't see and picture.
Hmmm... very irritating!
The fact that you can't play them might have something to do with it... Do they work on your PC?
Yeah, they play absolutely fine.
It's so weird. It must be something to do with the encoding. But I'm not sure what.
Iirc there's a couple of levels of h264 encoding... I'll look into that.
re-encode them in a lower res is what I would do
don't think the cpu have enough juice to play video
fluently in the full res
I get the same Problem.
The Files (Simpsons) are encoded in:
Video: x264 96kbps 240x176
Audio: AAC Stereo 44.1kHz 96kbps
So 1 single Simpson movie is about 30MBytes large. They play very fine with Corplayer - in the Benchmark i get 140% of the original speed.
I think the decoder is just missing for HTC Album. Is there any chance to add one? Till then i watch with Coreplayer.
Hiya folks since all of us are using the X10, I thought I'd ask for some help.
Recently I converted a bunch of videos to MP4 using the H.264 & ACC audio codec. At first they seem to play without a glitch but after 15-20secs into it, the visual side will pause and the audio continues. So naturally, I feel, I'm encoding them with the wrong settings.
Does anyone have any pointers here? What works for you and keeps the video quality at the optimal quality without those annoying pauses?
Hi - I'm using Videora Android converter.... selected the HTC Magic device (there wasn't an x10 option!).. and H.264 480x320 768kbs stereo/128Kbps profile..
Works really well.. great quality and no jerkiness.
I use SUPER to convert my 1080p files. Heres my settings
H.264/AVC
AAC LC
848x480
29 FPS
1584kbps Video Bitrate
Hi Quality
44100
Stereo
128kbps Audio Bitrate
I've used Super and TMPGEnc to try to convert some Divx files to MP4. For some reason the audio is always out of sync on the converted video when I play it back on the X10. I can't figure it out. I'm using different resolutions with a bitrate of about 1500kbps and always sticking to AAC LC for the audio. Is anyone see the same problem or have a suggestion to fix?
From VLC:
H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)
English
1280x720
Frame rate 23.976215
In an MKV.
The audio plays, it has a picture from the frame of the video, but it just wont play the video stream... How can I get it to say why? Or have I got some special codec that won't play, I thought the SGS could play a 720P H264.
Hi guys,
I want to start a topic about the video playback with the HW decoder of our eee pad.
first, this link from Motorola can help about the compatibility of the device.
(its for xoom I know but anyway it's the same processor)
I test a 1080p video yet but here is my test a video:
Resolution : 1920x800 (was the resolution of my video source)
Video Format : H.264
Video bitrate 6500kbps (didn't go higher because of my video source) tested with 8000kbps and still stable
Profil : Baseline (*IMPORTANT*) main or high will not work
CABAC enabled
Deblocking enabled
B-Frame : 2
Audio
LC-AAC with 160kbps bitrate
*HW is only available for stereo sound* BUT if you use a hdmi cable and want a full surround, you can put 5.1 under sound section (with mediacoder) when you will convert, doing this, the main video player of the table will NOT work. You will have to use MX video player (free in the market) AND when the video will start, click on the "music note" in the middle left and select S/W Decoder.
So the video will be decoded by the HW and audio decoded by SW. video is fluid and it work but can't guarantee if it is stable because I only test it one minute.
****Also, the container must be a .mp4 file!****
here is my preset for people who use Mediacoder
link
I use CUDA for the encoder but you absolutely need a compatible nvidia graphic card. Otherwise, check Auto.
I will try to push the tablet to its HW limit with other test. I'll keep this post updated.
Thanks
MediaCoder is free, you can download it from this link
