Well I flashed Hashcode's Ics ROM and twicca was working fine but all of a sudden it stopped working. Like it won't connect, same with plume, but the twitter app works fine. I think it might be the ROM since it is ICS but if anyone knows a way to fix it ill be really grateful hahaha. I tried reinstalling, reconnecting to wifi, and turning my kindle off and on, can anyone help? Thanks

Dear developers,
has anyone managed to get the original Amazon Launcher working on CM7? I have managed to install it (in the same way one installs the Market), but it just force closes immediately. The reason I want to get it working is, that the original Kindle App (the one that comes with the KF) does not work when started from any other launcher. Thing is though, it's better than the one on the Android Market with regards to bookmarks etc.
Thanks in advance
[perhaps move this to the Developing Section? I couldn't post there, being a newbie, despite this being a question for the devs.]
Maybe getting the Kindle app to work on any launcher would be a better idea.

I am using the cm7 rom on my kindle fire. The one that whistlestop posted. I am trying to use an app from the Android market. I can download it to my fire but when I open it I get the message that it is not supported on this device. I know I read that it is not supported on tablets, but I was curious if I can "disguise" my tablet to look like an Android phone that is supported by the app. Thanks.

Which app are you trying to install? Have you tried getting the APK for it and manually installing it?
It is AppRedeem. On the info page the app says it does not currently support Android tablets but I wasnt sure if I could make my fire appear to be an Android phone so it will work. I have downloaded it from the market and I have also manually installed via adb with the apk but when I open the app it tells me it is not supported on my device.

Well I did some editing on my prop and manage to get my device to appear as a Samsung phone in the market but still no luck with getting the app to see my fire as a phone.

When I go to the Market it says it is compatible with the Kindle Fire both in stock and ICS. Just thought you might find that interesting.
app
Have you tried cm7 or miui? Both are phone roms tweaked a bit for phones and could possibly solve the problem. I think that the problem isn't making your kindle look like a phone because that would only allow you to download the app which you already did. Good luck
There is thread about getting apps to work on the ICS roms. I was gonna do some editing to see if I can get whatsapp to run on cm7. Same thing, tablets not supported.

Disregard that editing nonsense. Another thread specifically about whatsapp said to backup the app on a running phone with titanium backup and then send the three backed up files to the fire and restore app+ data. Worked perfectly.

Thanks guyute74. I dont have an android phone so I cant do it myself. If anyone with an android phone and titanium wanted to back it up and send me the files I would really appreciate it. Shoot me a pm and I can give you my email.

Has anyone gotten this to work at all, everytime I use the Hulu plus app which worked on CM9 and earlier versions of ics, it stops playing the video prior to going through the commercials to get to the show

Are you using an ad blocker? If so, disable it and try again.
I havnt installed any, unless it is pre installed in the Rom or somewhere else

If I were you, I'd just install the google play store and use Go Launcher.

May seem silly to most, but is there a way to compile a ROM for the kindle without all the extra stuff the kindle does not even support? Like Bluetooth, sound recorder, vibrate setting and more.
Thanks for any info.

I always end up going to APPS and then disabling the phone stuff.
works for me
Thanks
I agree with the OP, but I do normally go and disable them in Titanium too.
