Define "very fast". (as in How many hours)
Which Galaxy S variant do you have?
Tried installing OneCosmic's ICS?
Using 3G or EDGE?
Had this today on build 16 with stock kernel

Change britness to 20-30%, keep autosync to minimum, use juice defender. After flashing u should've calibrated the battery.my battery is great for my ussage of my phone.it lasts 18-22 hours with data on all the time , talked 1-3 hours per day , music 30 min per day and browsing on the internet when i'm borred.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
If you keep juice defender installed in theory your data is not on all time.
I never got over 8 - 10 hours with 3g on all time, however I keep my brightness around 50-60%.
With green power premium and data on every 15 mins for 2 mins I get around 18-20 hours of usage but usually with more stand by than using the phone.
If I were to uninstall mail sync, what's up, facebook etc etc maybe I can get a lot more out of the phone but what's the point to pay for a data connection if you can't use it?
True. I have a job with a lot of spare time so...... i use the phone a lot.i like juice defender because when i lock the screen it kills data and checks from time to time all the stuff that needs data

have you recalibrate the battery?Try drain the battery to around 2 percent and recharge it to 100 percent for a few cycles, or by wiping battery cache

From what i learned the calibration means after flashing let it drain until the phone closes then charge it to 100% unplug and delete batterystats.bin

So ive had my phone for a couple months, and im not a big talker so i havent made many phone calls. today was probably my longest amount of time talking at ~30 minutess. 13 hours since my phone was plugged in i am at 10%. 41% of battery use was from voice calls! How can 30 minutes of talk time be 41% of a 13 hour battery life? what can i do?
Do you use headset? Bluetooth? Nothing? Check proximity sensor.
i do use bluetooth occasionally, but not on this day. brightness was at 0% all day.

What phone is it? Use task manager ( exactly that name )and see what's running on your phone, you should auto kill memory hogs. If you have social apps or news widgets they constantly need updates from online, especially widgets. I doubt your call drained that much it was probably a combination of sorts. So again what device are you using?

There is a way to refresh your battery life, I learned with my g1, drain the battery until it turns off, then charge fully while its turned off assume it takes an hour to charge, give it two hours, or over night, do this twice in a row, that's a refreshed battery. If you can't charge whilst off, then sorry.

I always see that people suggest to turn off Data, change from 3G to 2G and stuffs like that.
I don't understand their point of view of having this phone when you have turned off everything... must themselves get a normal dumb phone.
wow some of these batt stats are crazy. my phone alone on standby dies 3% an hour...how do you guys last days?
mine too T_T
use super task killer2011.it helps u to release much more RAM and save buttery in better way.
- The smallest task killer in the world. Only 54KB.
- Kill tasks quickly.Showing the RAM occupied by the task.
- Advanced filter feature. Showing the security level of different apps or programs running in the background.
- BugFix for Android 2.0 Devices;
- Faster when you start it;
- Sort by A-Z;
5 days and counting...
I used to use task killers but find that my phone is better without them.
Last week I was on holiday and my phone lasted 5 DAYS and still had around 20% left! (no wifi/BT, minimal use, few calls, not switched off at night).
It will probably get around 2 days with normal use.
Juice defender.

what does this do?
I used this before and I found it was pretty inconvenient with wifi/3g and always having to wait for these to get turned on or turning them on myself.
I did see 11-13 hour battery with my normal use (light surfing, 1-2 hours calling, many many text)...but then I removed it and I have everything pop up when I click on it and I am getting 9-10 hour battery life.
I am not normally a battery hog...but I REALLY like it when something I click on WORKS then and there...without a no connection message.
I am more than willing to lose the extra battery time for the convenience....maybe if I start using more battery intense stuff Ill revisit this app but for now...I like things to work when I expect them too...
I prefer to use SetCPU to lower the CPU speeds when it's off, and when the battery reaches 25%. Works great for me. I used JuiceDefender, but I just had nothing but problems with it.

I am using Juice Defender on my stock Atrix. I don't know what you guys do to your phones but if going to GB means having to charge my phone twice a day I will not do that. I used to be big into flashing my Tilt 2 and HD2 but for now I'll wait.
I get over 24 hours of battery easily with moderate use (meaning a few games, a lot of text messaging, some web browsing and at least 2 hours of music).
Last charge lasted from 3 pm one day to 6 pm the next day at 20% battery when I plugged it in again.
I had problems with my battery, but since I rooted the phone I think that it is getting worse. I am not sure if it is the rooting, but now I am getting Android OS at 52% and the battery barely makes 5 hours. I am a using the phone, but it should last at least 10 hours. I did root the phone in order to delete batterystats.bin but this did not help at all. I used Battery Calibrator, also deleted the batterystats.bin from the Android Terminal followed the procedures of charging the phone to 100% waited until it says full calibrated the battery or delete the batterystats.bin discharge the battery until the phone dies and charged it to 100% again....but still the same thing. I guess the Android OS is killing it. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank to all of you in advance!
52% is high, but that also depends on what other tasks you are doing at the same time.
You should have 5 hours of Screen On time if not more, thats what you need to check, not some hours.
Regards.

5 Hours screen on time? I'd love to get that lol. 3 Hours 50 Minutes is about the best i've got, but then that is while battering the net and the camera.
Get around 1 to 2 days battery life though although I am a light-medium user.
Install the free version of Wachdog , and see if it can identify what apps or processes are eating up your battery.

So to make it clear. My battery lasts about 5 hours. I do not think this is screen time. This is the total time of the battery. I have at battery use
Android OS 52%
Display 13%
Android System 10%
Email 9%
Cell Standby 4%
Voice Calls 4%
Phone Idle 3%
Maps 2%
I think before the rooting I had Android at around 12-13% and the highest was the display. I keep the display close to maximum brightness, but it counts only for 13% at the moment and it was around 40% before rooting. Do you think resetting the phone could solve the problem?

That stat you have given is after how many hours of usage?
Besides, what kernel did you use for rooting?
Install 'Better Battery Stats' and see whats going on in background.
And do turn off Wifi, GPS, 3G, Packet Data, Auto sync, Background Data, any running widgets when you don't need them. And also check if you have push-pull Exchange.

If you have wifi and bluetooth on constantly also 3g , you are really taxing the battery 5-6 hours is about right.

I had simillar problems. High os usage and short battery life.
Used better battery stats overnight with everything data related turned off and fully charged phone. turned out that my facebook app was keeping the phone awake in standby and killing the battery. Lost 55% in 6 hours. Removed fb app and battery life is mutch better. Went from 8 hours with about 1 and half hours screen time to 14 to 16 hours with 3 to 4 hours of screen time on one charge. Os usage is now between 20 and 35%. Use to be at 50 to 60%.
This is with stock kernel with wifi and 3g allways on with some autosync and push mail allways on.

I found juice defender in the past to be a battery problem instead of a solution.
what's your battery now? how much juice do you get?
I think that anyone who experiences bad battery life should exchange their phone or battery. I can go two days without recharging and still have 29 % left. That 29 % might even last me through the 3rd day but I would prefer not to risk it.
I did a little test today.
I unplugged the phone at 7am when i got up.
I only turned it on for a couple of seconds, twice, to check battery level, and it had gone down to 75% by 9am. (so by 9am, no more than 1 minute max screen-on time)
Is that worse that others?
My battery does (like everyone else's) immediately drop to 99% on unplugging it - actually, sometimes 98% right away.
I'm surprised anyone gets more than a day's worth out of it?
I also noticed, when it was on my desk, that the screen switches on, on it's own every now & then. Maybe every half hour or so?
Is that also normal?
I'm having a bit of trouble with my battery aswell. I only have 54% left with only 1h15 screen on time and that was only for some texting and browsing.
Is this normal or should I go back to he store to check the battery?
Also, should I try the free version of Juice Defender or is it not worth to use it unless you have the paid version?

Dropping 25% in 2 hours time with a display on time of 1 minute is definitely much more drain than normal. My phone usually drops around 2-3% per hour if it's unused on my desk.
I also find it weird that your display switches on every now and then by itself.
You have a lot of apps that poll the net for data in the background? (facebook, twitter and so on)
Are you on wifi when this happens, or mobile data?
Try turning off sync altogether some day and see how much it drains your battery per hour.
Hi all ,
Today is my 1st day with new s3 bought yest. night and coming from s2,
My s3 was full charged this morning, and after abt 12 hrs of normal use ( some calls + facebook + whatsapp + viber . . . . . ) battery level is 60%.
I think that by this way new s3 battery will stay normally 2 days . . .
If people are experiencing high battery usage its because of your apps. All battery saving apps do is turn off your data or tweak your syncing.
On wi-fi with no much syncing, you should get about 1-2% drain per hour. On mobile date this goes up to about 2-4% per hour.
Tips for battery save.
- Switch off Google Back up & restore
- Accounts and sync, switch off what you don't need
- Email exchange accounts can be set with a "off-peak syncing"
- Be thorough with news and local based apps. Turn off auto syncing or reduce the frequency in which they sync.
- A good way to check which apps are using data when idle is by going into settings > Data usage. When you click on any of the apps listed, it will show how much data is used in fore/back ground. The ones with high background usage you might want to investigate. You can also disable the app from using data in he background by setting yourself a data limit
- Apps like Facebook, Google+ are battery hogs. So if you don't need it, uninstall.
My battery is awesome so far. 2 days with normal use and 3.5-4 days of light use...

It really depends on your usage. Screen on time tells something, but not everything. For example watching a hd-video eats far less battery than surfing on the internet with 3g. But still, the battery life is great, so no disagreement there.
My battery so far so good
Standard, not too heavy, day by day usage
One thing not mentioned so far is wi-fi. If you are connecting to a 'dodgy' router, this is going to eat into battery life. So if you aren't using it, switch it off.
