The proximity sensor on my motorola droid pro running apex 2.0 don't work when i am on a call. I keep dialing number when it touches my face while i am on a call. I played around with the settings but nothing seems to work. How do i stop this?

I bought my Atrix last Saturday. Rooted it using SuperOneClick. Noticed the following problem:
I dial an access code to a VoIP service, listen to a dial tone, bring up the dialer and are trying to dial an exension number. If any part of my hand goes directly over the proximity sensor, even within 2" of it, the screen goes blank, numbers are not registering. It appears that the proximity sensor does not shut off when the dial pad is being opened to dial an extension.
I wonder if rooting could have caused this problem or it is Motorola's shortcoming?
Strange. I am having the exact opposite problem. When I make a call from time to time, the proximity sensor fails to kick in and the screen stays on. I end up either dialing digits or hanging up on the person.
It doesn't happen all the time. I am trying to narrow it down, but I think it happens only after I use my in car bluetooth unit to interact with my phone.
After a reboot - all is well. The proximity sensor functions normally.
Check your horizontal calibration. I found that the screen-off is triggered when the phone goes vertical. Try it. Cover the prox and tilt the phone vertical

I tried in horizontal and vertical positions. Same result. I am not sure I know how to check horizontal calibration.
my proximity sensor was not working either, it would not shut off the screen during a call. i too use a bluetooth speaker in my car so i tired the reboot and it worked.
i also then tried putting my finger over the sensor and after the screen went blank i swiveled the phone horizontally and the screen came back on even though my finger was covering the sensor. while keeping my finger on the sensor i could get the screen to turn off by rotating the phone back to a vertical position. it would seem there are two issues here
I am having the same problem as Ed and hondaguy. I too have isolated my issue to using my cars bluetooth as well. It only occurs when I have the phone connected and choose to talk on the headset (unclick the bluetooth button on the phone). I can talk over bluetooth and not have this issue afterwards.
Hey, I remember the proximity working while I'm on a phone call when I first got the Samsung focus but it seems it no longer works now. I'm forced to lock the phone before I make the call or I always risk ending the call by accident with my face. Is this a setting? What could of caused the sensor to stop responding.

I've done a lot of search on Google and here on XDA on how to disable the erratic proximity sensor on my Atrix 4G.
It goes blank as soon as I dial a number.
I have changed the proximity sensor in the mot.proximity.delay= from 450 to 900 without any effect.
I have tried this on stock Gingerbread without any effect.
Whilst on Neutrino and CM9 I couldn't find the mot.proximity.delay= build prop.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I just switched out my GS4 proximity sensor cause it wasnt working but I think I might messed up the mic or something cause when im in a call sometimes while in the call it sound like raspy or like auto tune I was wondering did i mess something up and what I should do to fix it.Also,it seems that even after i put in the new proximity sensor my air gestures still arent working could it be blocked or something cause my screen was cracked but the LCD was perfect and got someone to replace it but after he replaced it my air gestures just stopped working could it be when he replaced the screen he b locked the sensor from being read should i replace the screen again what should I do.I thought the proximity sensor was the sensor that controlled the air gestures too.And when i use *#0*# under sensor the proximity sensor reads

As in the title proximity sensor stopped working during call, but only when taking from the ear. It don't wake up screen anymore. Anybody facing same problem? Is there a solution?
me too, all other sensor works except proximity that works one tiem then nothing
Waiting for asus fix the proximity sensor can be disabled from dialer settings to avoid the black call screen.
For me too!! It's very annoying . i have used xposed "sensor Disabler" module as a work around to completely disable proximity sensor!
I had the same on Android 5. Double tap the power button wakes it up.
