Probably bricked - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

After rooting and flashing a new customtom rom (cm-7.2.0), it was laggy so i decided to flash back to stock rom, whiped data, cache ect. and started flashing my stock rom backup i got stuck on Huawei logo, after that i tried to get in recovery mode but failed, so i`ve run out of options and decided to hard reset my phone bit it said install step 1/2 unpacking forever, after that i booted the pink screen connected usb to pc and the phone partition didint pop up.
Please help me fix this.

Go into pink screen and attach it to a Linux distro (like Ubuntu) see if it actually mounts. Linux doesnt need any drivers.

try downloading stock rom (link is somewhere in development section, i had a megaupload link... but... yea XD ), and put dload folder on sd card. then try installing this rom. if it doesnt help, try installing official 2.3 ^^

you porpose which linux software?

I use Ubuntu, so I know for a fact that it mounts all partitions. No drivers, nothing

EDIT: If you don't want to install it on your PC, since you only need to test your phone quickly. Just burn it on a CD and run a Live CD, it should still mount all partitions.

Milestone 2 Boot Loop

I've stumbled into a really big problem with my Motorola Milestone 2. Basically, it's stuck in a boot loop, it comes up with the Motorola M, then the purple animation behind it, then it vibrates and starts the animation again. It just loops this. I've looked on a number of other threads but none have helped yet.
I've tried:
Power + X and doing a factory reset (Didn't Work)
Power + X and wiping cache (Didn't Work)
RSD Lite + http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone2 but the start button remains greyed out even when the phone's in bootloader mode.
Thanks in Advance,

You might need to try flashing the SBF in linux. You don't have to install it on your computer you can just run a live cd and try it from a live session. or run it under windows and try it like that. (when you put in the live cd it will ask you if you want to try it).
You can follow my tutorial for the D2 just remember to replace the SBF in that tut to your SBF and the command will change aswell.
Here's the Tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804088
You don't have to use the liveCD I customized you can use any ubuntu or linux live cd. you just have to have the sbf_flash file in the home directory and the phone specific SBF in the same location.
Ok, thanks. I'll download the Ubuntu LiveCD later and try it
When I run sudo ./sbf_flash xxx.sbf I get :
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Why is this? Could it be because I'm running the LiveCD on USB?
Right, I just installed Ubuntu onto my system, alongside Windows 7. However when I follow the instructions on the thread you linked to I get a Segmentation Fault at "sudo ./sbf_flash xxxx.sbf" bit. It's a slightly different error to when I was running the LiveCD. What can I do to fix this?
There's something wrong with the Livecd because everyone who has tried it lately has been getting that I'm going to be making another upgraded one soon. Did you install my livecd to your computer or an official ubuntu livecd? If it was mine I would try a different one and see if that works. If not then the sbf_flash file is messed up which doesn't make sense because I've used that exact file on my ubuntu setup and have sucessfully flashed my phone.
I'm sorry this is a lot more of a headache then I had originally implied. Linux is usually a lot easier than windows but there is something I am overlooking that's causing the segfault.

I used the Official Ubuntu LiveCD and the sbf_flash file you posted. I'm looking into getting a replacement because I think it is unfixable now because I tried another method of flashing, and now I get a white screen which goes to black instead of the Motorola Logo, however the bootloader still loads but the android recovery (Power + X) thing doesnt.

After you flash you need to wipe data and cache in the stock recovery. That will fix a bootloop.

If I would like to use sbf_fllash, which version of Ubuntu should I have? 64bit or 32bit?

It shouldn't matter because a 32-bit sbf_flash file should work on 64-bit or 32-bit.

[Q] Bricked Defy and not recognized by my USB

Guys,
First of all, hello to all! So, I followed a tutorial to install Froyo on my Defy. Now I'm stuck with my phone trying to boot as soon as i put the battery on, but it never makes it past the "M". I can get into recovery. I wiped data, cache and tried to install the "update.zip" but it aborts saying "signature verification failed." I have the boot file (that was the next step) to install using RSDlite 4.9 but the phone is not even recognized any of my USB ports. Any ideas? Thanks to all in advanced.
press volumn up buton and power button on boot , once you saw the backlit is on , release the button , you will see the rsd litle showing your usb .
dont worry . i think it is your first time to use RSD only
yea i been through that ( doesnt work on vista )
you need to install rsd lite and 2.51 UK Firmware ( no usa )
google it and you will find it or on this forum
install usb driver from motorola webiste
install rsd lite
put uk firmware in ... C drive/ program files / motorola / rsd lite
install driver
If your phone is stuck on " M " then pull battery out
turn on and quicky press power + vol up ( i think ) before M even appear
wait till it say your boot loader and your battery
plug phone in
start rsd lite
on ... look up your uk firmware that you you recently put in rsd lite folder
then you should see your phone connected on the 1 slot
then hit start or something and wait it out .
Thanks guys! But I've been messing around with this thing for so long, I drained the battery. I had to run it up to the local phone store to get it charged. I'll pick it up in a couple of hours and give your advice a try.
Hey guys! it worked! I'm up and running. Now, anyone has a link to bypass this Welcome to Motoblur screen. Is there a Custom Froyo or Gingerbread Rom out there without Motoblur?
Alright... I'm up and running, but no camera!!! Heck, it was a learning experience. I guess I'll go back to 2.1 now. LOL
So the Chinese ROM was rooted. I installed Clockworkmod and restored from the backup i had made of the original 2.1 OS. I'm back to a rebooting phone not making it past the "M" I went back to RSDlite and realized the boot file said 2.2 only. Can anyone assist me finding the right one to go back to original. I haven't been able to find a thread about reverting back to original.
The more I read, the smarter I get seems like the only thing I'm missing here is the SBF file for my original T-Mobile OS. I'm looking at the motorola website, but I can't find it. Can anyone point me to it? Thanks all! Oh yeah, this is the first android phone i mess with so my apologies.
There is no us sbf file. You have to flash a uk version and restore 3g with the posted fix. You can find the links to available sbf files on this forum. They are not available thru moto's site.
Sent from my ME525 using Tapatalk
Just to make sure I got it right. After using clockworkmod to restore to my factory backup, I need to use the UK sbf to be able to boot to it. Correct?
I found the sbf for Central Europe with no Motoblur. Does anyone know of any issues with it?
well the only way to fix this if you previously backed up your rom/files with recovery ( good thing i did this ). If not then you have to live with what you got.
I backed up my original firmware using clockworkmod. I flashed to the Chinese 2.2 but my camera didn't work. Since the camera is important to me, the Chinese Froyo was a deal breaker. I installed clockworkmod again and "recovered" from my original backup but now my defy won't boot. Did I miss a step?
Your data from the backup may cause issues when rolling backwards. Install an eclair sbf, then restore. That worked for me.
On another note there is a fix for the camera. Check the forums.

Just try and install the Motorola Drivers in your desktop and open RSDLite and press 'show devices' button. It will surely show the details of your phone.
Then point RSDLite to the stock SBF and flash away.

If you hear the USB plugged in sound in your Pc, it's a messed up driver installation. If you don't hear the sound, it can be a bad cable, or a faulty microusb port (assuming that your pc usb works fine). Try once in a different pc and with a different microusb cable.

I think I stuck in boot loop. When I try to power on the phone, it just shows CM7 boot logo for few seconds then restarts again shows the boot logo... this happens continually. When I try to enter into recovery, it does not go to CWM recovery instead it goes to stock recovery. I am still able to enter into boot loader. In boot loader, it says battery OK connect USB to program. When I connect USB, it is recognized by phone and says transfer mode: USB. But my PC does not shows up the phone.
I tried re-installing drivers and RSDlite many times but no luck. But I have nandroid backup of CM7. Is there any possibilities to enter into CWM recovery?
Any help is appreciated.
Edit:
I tried even different USB cables and PCs also.

blue/pink screen - stuck

Hi all,
I have a bit of a problem.
I had an old Oxygen (?) 2.3.? but wish to upgrade to ICS so after installing the 'official' 2.3.5 was following steps in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420728.
I got up to the bit about installing Clockworkmod. When I tried to go into recovery mode for some reason (I must have screwed something up) it went back into the Firmware update (presumably because I still had the sd card with the 2.3.5 updated on it). It gets through the first step of the update but when it goes to start step 2 it comes up with 'Update failed'.
If I remove the sd card and try to start up normally I get the blue screen.
I can get to the pink screen but I'm not sure what to do from there.
Thanks for any help.
Cheers,
H.

Thanks for the suggestion. How do I see what is missing? I have tried various USB drivers but so far haven't found one that will mount the device. Do I need to use logcat with adb?
Any idea why it will no longer allow me to simply reflash the stock rom?
By the way, the device is the standard u8800 - not the -pro.
Cheers,
H.
Not in blue screen, you must go to pink screen mode(by pressing vol+/- end power when the device is turned off). There you'll be able to see the folder with the system files on pc.

Now I'm confused.
When I connect the phone to my Windows computer (tried XP and 7 in both pink and blue modes), the device does not register. Windows detects the new device and asks for drivers. I have tried different ones but none that I've tried so far will see the device. If someone could give me a link to drivers that definitely work I would be most grateful.
Like I said in my original post, if I leave the SD card in it tries to do the firmware upgrade but fails. Is there no way to 'reset' the phone somehow so that the firmware upgrade will go through? Perhaps downgrade to an older version first??
Thanks,
H.
There is not blue screen mode. Blue screen just shows that the system files don't exist. If recovery image doesn't exist you get a blue screen when you try to reboot to recovery mode. If you cannot boot normally, probably boot.img is erased(or maybe all system files which are on Image folder are erased).
Also if you had flashe an official rom version higher of B518, you probably have a locked pink screen, so it doesn' t matter if you have or not drivers because you cannot access the special partition which has the Image folder with all system files anyway.
Now, if the update proccess of official rom stops or second step(after unpacking proccess), probably a partition on the device is corrupted and the update cannot write to it. There is a special update, which you can flash with the same way as the official rom(put it on dload folder), and maybe can solve the problem. I' ve posted it on another thread here before some time. The filename is: update-160up
try to search the forum and hopefully you will find the thread(which has some isntructions and comments also).
You can try to flash a 2.2 official rom also. Maybe the update will succeed then.

If your friend installed a rom not meant for this phone, it might happen the /system or /boot images were installed to wrong place, messing up the phone. It would be a great help if you would link the rom your friend tried to install so I could see what is messed up.
If you can access pink screen, do you have the image/ folder with the boot.img and recovery.img?
By the way, if it is stuck on boot image, does it say anything in the PC? Like a device connected?

[Q] Acer Iconia A501 - Frozen @ Acer Logo

Yet another Newb
I have googled / search / read many posts & threads over the past days & weeks.
I had a Acer Iconia A500 freeze @ the Acer logo screen like so many other have had, BUT I managed to fix it last time.
My mate has an Acer Iconia A501 ( so its got a sim card as well ) & its done the same thing.
I have tried the same process as the last 1, but to no avail as yet.
I'm needing some help please guys as I bet its something really simple , but I cant see why its not working for me.
OK AFAIK its all been stock Acer roms & OTA updates.
Processes so far..
Power on & hold down volume + & slide screen lock get this & then reboots
erasing user data .. erasing cache...
Power on & hold down volume - & slide screen lock get this
Bootloader v0.03.12-ICS: starting fastboot USB download protocol
Power on & hold Volume - release power button when it vibrates / starts to boot , still hold down vol button
I have tried the same update.zip file as my last A500 experience , but it got me to the android icon with the spinning globe for hours, left from any where from 40 mins to over night & same basically a lockup. then tried again & somehow got it to almost 90 ish % & stayed like that for ages.
Now I can only get it to see the green android guy for 10-12 seconds before he falls over & dies with the red triangle & black exclamation mark inside it.
I'm not fussed on what rom etc or even stock acer again as I can OTA it back up to last again.
I would just like it to work again & see where I am going wrong...
Anyone able to assist in my error please.
OH micro SD card is formatted to Fat under Win7,
OR should it be Fat32 ?? ( I am going to format with another A500 Tablet & hope it works better )
Also when I go to start it
Power on & hold Volume -, release power button when it vibrates / starts to boot , still hold down vol button
it shows on screen that its erasing data before booting & seeking the update.zip file from sd card etc..
SO it looks like its all doing what it should be , but then doesn't.
Still looking for the reason why this flash recovery wont work.
Using various versions & ensuring all are renamed to update (update.zip file) & messages on booting are the same.
looking for / accessing update.zip file etc etc
Android guy sits there & now I cant even get the status bar below him , its just the guy 10 seconds & dead with his guts hanging out
Any thoughts or a correct file to go with the bootloader appreciated.
Am I doing something wrong OR is it that corrupt its stuffed ???
Thanks to you guru's for assistance
Next instalment
My next instalment on the "unhappy" A501
I have moved my trying to an XP Pro SP3 machine.
I have installed the USB driver package & also the Windows update for the MTP.
I plug in & turn on , windows detects the Acer Iconia A500 & loads into Dev Manager as Acer MTP
It doesn't load enough to appear as a separate drive in the "My Computer" though.
I spose its a small step , but still getting no where.
Please Help :crying:
as I would like to hand this back as I need to move house & it will take some time for me to get setup again to be able to look at fixing it.
Ask for more info & I will reply ASAP
Uninstalled the MTP update , same for the USB driver package & rebooted.
made sure the Acer dir had gone as well.
Installed USB driver pack again & looked at that it contains.. MTP folder & drivers are in there already ..
Still shows up as Acer MTP & nothing in My Computer.
I did see that it shows up with the yellow exclamation mark after a while & then re connects again. ??
IF I start Blackthunders A500 Filemanager using the power button / vol + & flicking the screen lock on/off, I start with Bootloader ver & "starting fastboot USB download protocol.
IS this any help to fix the tablet ??
edit : How do I confirm it has USB Debugging turned on IF I cant turn it on ???
Hi Noel, sorry you got troubs
Your ext sd card should really be formatted via android, although there is a tool for windows you can use called sd_formatter, HP also have a formatting tool, google either one - I have previously posted the sd_format tool "here somewhere" will provide the link if I can track it down.
The drivers are the most important part of getting your tab up and running again.
If you have the Acer ones and the USB ones installed correctly, you should be good to go. In saying that, it can be a real biarch when you're in the position you're in.
Uninstall the acer drivers, reboot. Do not have your tab connected, wait for windows to fully start and its done updating itself or woteva it needs to do lol.
Run the driver exe. If your tab is not booting its hard to tell if usb debug is enabled or not. ANd windows will have trouble detecting it....sooooo......
Go to the root guide in my sig, post #2 download the "babsector file". You will also need to download an ics or jb rom, there is a stock rooted ics or you can use one of 'civato's' Flex roms - I'm still running one of his old ICS ones and it does me fine, I've not kept up with the latest roms, so I cannot help you much with that sorry!
Download your rom and put it on your sd card (if theres a formatting issue we will find out very soon!!!)
Babsector is run via your PC, now, win7 32bit systems work best for this, so if you aint got one, find a mate thats got one! You will save yourself alot of grief by not using win8. Even XP or vista will work!!
You'll need to enter your cpuid so keep that at the ready.
Babsector will flash cwm recovery and install the unlocked bootloader for you.
After running the first bat file, enter recovery and do a complete wipe, (enable data/media option) It has to be a FULL wipe theres no getting around it. And yes, do the wipe procedure at least TWICE!!!!
Once the wipes are done, flash the rom and then run the b.bat file for good measure. As long as you see the big white "PASS" after running each bat file, you're good to go.
IF there is a problem, babsector will output an error....post that and we'll go from there!
Good Luck

Good Luck

Morning dibb
I have the Acer USB driver pack that has MTP files as well, is this all I need or maybe that's the start of my problems ??
( Acer ones and the USB ones installed correctly ?? )
1 of my many issues is that as its not my tablet , I don't have the cupid at all.
It wont start so I cant get it that way , & tried to connect with blackthunders A500 file manager as well but doesn't output any data that I can see / find.
Im thinking I have to flash with an unlocked bootloader before I can do anything - Yeah ??
I am quite happy to eventually go back to stock ICS @ the ends so anything is good.
R u familiar with Linux at all, its the only way of retrieving yr cpuid.
If not, it will be a matter of finding an update.zip that will work 4 u. There is one in the root guide u can try?

Hi
Not played with any Linux before so this might be funny at best to say the least.
the update.zip you suggest , is that the HC 3.1 full ??? (then rename to update.zip) on sd card & try ??
Yep, there's a guide stickied in general for using Linux to get it.
And yep the hc 3.1 FULL. If u get it booting you can OTA all the way to ics, but that's quite time consuming. So root it and install cwm, that will get u yr cpuid. After that unlock the boot loader!!!
I see there's a kit Kat Omnirom, based on civatos flex Rom, gonna give it a spin myself

Tried using USBdeview to get the cupid, found a sting with 15 character's so tried that with a "0" at the start.
used the SB calculator & then blackthunders APX flasher , but it didn't work.
got all the way through with out any issues , but didn't actually flash it
Had assistance from JdgM3NT4L but still trying
the issue is the CPUID though to ensure I have it
more help the better

Hi dibb_nz
with lots of help from JdgM3NT4L I now have the cupid & can get through all of Blackthumders apx flasher up to the 2nd stage of the flashing where its uploading the image file.
it goes into this about 50 % then just hangs...
How long should it normally run for the flashing ??
.
Oh dear, this is not an error u want to see...Would explain the freezing issues. I've never seen a suuccesful solution for the ebt error. Just keep trying sooner or later it will flash....also the tdv4 file has been known to work , you'll be back on hc 3.2 with that but you'll have root and cwm if that's any consolation, lol...
The manual nvflash methods work best babsector or civs nvflash. If it is a faulty chip then even if u do get it booting it won't be a permanent fix.....
See how u go with the other methods k?

Ok
looks like its almost a lost cause..
using civs flasher in APX mode under win7
gets through the start of the flashing to failed executing command 25 NvError 0x120002
command failure: sync failed <bad data>
bootloader staus : Bct Write Failed <code22> message : nverror:0x42008 <0x6042008> flags :0
then it has *press anykey when your A500/501 is in botloader mode
press any key to continue .. so I did anyway
flashing bootloader : bootloader_v8.bin
nvflash started
[resume mode]
formatting partition 4 please wait.. command execution failed cmd 13, error0x120002
failed!
command failure: format partition failed <bad command>
bootloader status: unknown operation <code: 1> message: flags:0
.
When u tried the apxflash tool earlier, there's an option to "dump" yr bct - If u didn't do that try dumping it, and then choose " use saved bct' , sorry dude its been a loooong time since I've had to do it so I may not have the wording exactly right

Ok thanks.
Will try that as well when I try #17 again shortly.
will make sure tablet is connected in APX before I click "dump"
I assume because I get all this way with multiple programs , the CPUID & SBK have to be correct ??
