Hey.
Just installed the DFT Freedom Rom and it works like a dream and I finally got my phone to look like I want it to look like .
But Now I'm missing the podcasts(marketplace). Whats up with that?
Sorry about starting a new thread, but the dumb XDA limitations limit me from asking in the actual thread.
Is it possible that it is my country? My account is in finland, I live in switzerland and I believe the marketplace was set to USA earlier(I dont have an USA account), dont ask me how.
Whats the easiest way to Change your marketplace settings?

Hi,
I did change do a quick search but Marketplace brings up a fair few results.....
I have hear that the American Marketplace has alot more apps that the UK one but you need to change your region, Is this true?
If so how do I do it?
Thanks!!
Jus hit my head. Since i use the Moonlight OM, everything works great. Its unlocked and all. My question is for lazyness of using side loaders (im happely living in a dream that my HS2 is a real WP7, and i dont want to mess up somthing thats clearly working.
LOL, That's the first thing I did after reading
And BTW, for laziness you don't even want to try it ? Just attach a xap and send it, then see if it work(though I doubt it will )
And then share your exp.
Hey,
I just got a short question. I read some threads but couldn't find the correct answer.
I am not able to get an activation code here in my region. No way, nor email, nor chat, nor phone... if it works they ask for imei!
So reading through some threads and using google I found WP7 Desktop Marketplace. Now i'm downloading all the application from the desktop marketplace and install them to my phone.
So my question, are there the same apps than in the marketplace on the phone? Whats the difference?
So in this case i wouldn't need an activation code because I can install apps from the desktop market?
thank you
EDIT: in fact the major question is, if both are the same? Or why everybody aks for an actionvation code if they could also do it this way?
I am from singapore and I have to call US to ask them to activate it? And will they do it? Flashing win 7 to HD2 consider illegal or like "jailbreak"?

use the web chat
if they ask which its unlikely they will
play really dumb, pretend your on holiday and you accidently reset your phone
tell them its asking for some activation thingy
its easy, you'll be fine
is it illegal? its a bit of a gray area, MS doesnt sell the OS as such to end users, they are probably ok with it as long as people dont take the piss, but should we have it? no.
if people make a big fuss about it and bring it in to the public eye they may be forced to stop our developers. In short, put WP7 on your HD2 just make sure you buy some stuff via the marketplace, dont just freeload it all and brag to the world.
Support the market and i suspect that the sleeping monster will stay that way.
I used the web chat and got activation code immediately. They requested just name and phone number, not IMEI or something else.
Thanks guys. May I have the url for the web chat?
Help..SoS.. request activation code windows live id
Guys I am Italian and I write in English with google translator is someone of good will and through the web chat will be able to reperirmi activation code and then send it in pm? Thank you in advance ... I tried in every way but are either too naive or too unlucky ... but I can not find it ... I have a hd2 rom wp 7.8 but I can not use the market ...

Hello friends!
I was prepared to drop a couple of D's get me a unlocked, sim-free Omnia 7 when I came across a little tidbit in some obscure forum; Marketplace is not available for all regions in the world!
Can someone confirm this please? I live in the Middle East - Dubai, to be more precise; and while the phone touches all the important bases, I am a little reluctant spending such a huge amount if it will be crippled.
Is there anyway to bypass or rectify the this problem - like selecting a different region or jailbreaking (chevron) it?
Thanks for all your help

Its ok, since it would be best to get hooked up in a marketplace full of updated apps and new submissions. get the omnia7, set up a US based live account, set you pc's system locale to US (for zune and music artist background to work) and then setup your brand new Omnia7!
If you don't want these changes, you might not be able to maximize WP7 and might not enjoy it.
Thanks for the reply!

Just to make sure I got it right; set up a new Windows Live Account - US based. Change the Location to US in the Control Panel.
... Do I need to change... say the time zone selected also???
All this before I install Zune, correct?
Anything else I should know?
I am guessing I can add my actual Gmail and Hotmail accounts later on in the phone? Sorry, This will be my first Windows Phone 7 phone, so I am a little leery about everything.
Does Zune installation require mandatory credit card details at any step? You know, for age verification or some such? (To date, I have never installed Zune in my PC so I am a somewhat iffy on things). Will that cause problems with my Location?
Lastly, I have to ask about is it worth it to root/jailbreak your WP7 phone? I mean what "awesome" feature does it unlock for you. I will be buying a phone without warranty anyway, so I there is some benefit it then I guess I can use the Chevron method before updating it...
Any more thought on this matter is quite welcome. I guess am a little nervous on spending so much money for this phone without any return option, so I want to make sure that everything will work out alright.
