Unbrick U8800 with Odin? - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hi there!
I have bricked my phone and it is in "download" mode.
Is there a way to "bring it back" with Odin?
Thanks!
M.

Did they repaired your phone for the second time? If not, what did they said? What did you do in the first place that you bricked it?

People still doesn't read. I said that it is bricked! Cannot install anything on.
Brgds

What do you mean by download mode? if you turn it on with vol up and down and power held, what happens?
Try put stock rom (2.3 or 2.2 depending on what was on phone before) in dload folder on sd card and it might flash firmware off that.

If you're on download mode then you can upload a recovery an boot image. Do it and use that to flash any rom you want.

I appreciate people trying to help. But sometimes it is good to stay quiet. So please, don't reply with funny suggestions.
Thanks.

Hello;
What, exactly, is "download mode"?

For someone how's in need of help, you should take it easy on the atitude and provide more info for those sparing a moment of their lives to try to help you out, no?

I am just trying to say that sometimes it is better to no reply at all.
If i said that the telephone is bricked and only in download mode you should know what does it mean before you reply. That's all. No hard feelings.

Try using a FAT32 formatted sdcard, with nothing in it but the dload folder with a stock ROM.
Couple days ago, I deleted all files from my U8800's FAT32 and EXT4 partitons - yes, even the 'image' folder, connected to my Linux box.
Because I wanted to revert to stock Froyo, i dumped back partition 5, from a backup I did some months ago - but this part is not relevant.
Formatted the card, dumped the dload folder into it, with a card reader; removed the battery and followed the procedure described in your link.
First try, it displayed some error message - can't remember - second try it showed up the pink screen, followed by the blue screen and initiated the ROM flashing. My phone is now fine and dandy... Oh, it rebooted three times after installing stock Froyo, so don't be alarmed when you get there.
Cheers
Good luck

I tried all you mentioned 30 X and more then that But no success
Btw: if you dumped back your partition from backup you had access to internal memory ... i don't have that connection neither on Ubuntu or Windows. I got pink screen but it is in "Download mode" only.
Thanks.

Can you explain me how did you get your Huawei u8800 enter in Download mode if it's a feature of some samsung smartphones to work with odin ?
You're being a little rude for those who're tryin' to help you, you should be more polite ma friend...
You didn't even say what rom were you using... so I guess you don't even deserve any help from anybody.
Peace

I've had download mode on my previous Android device - LG GT540. All it needed to enter such mode was to remove the battery, SIM and sdcard , and plug the USB cable. It would enter download mode and allow a stock ROM to be flashed with the standard LG update tool.
Actually, I dumped partition 5 back to the phone prior to erasing every file system in it, and indeed had pink screen mode access in order to do it...
Sorry it didn't work out for you.

I've installed some custom ROM and after reboot it stopped to boot in HUAWEI logo. And that was it. I have tried to install official ROM's all of them with standard methods (dload folder) but every time ends in step 2/2 (installation failed or something like that). I opened up new thread with that few weeks ago:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466953
This thread was supposed to answer my question at the top. And some guys did. I don't know how can thread be closed by the author. I've try to find it but with no success.
I appreciate people like to help. But if people don't know what i am asking why answering and asking questions that are answered in many threads before.
You see .. this thread should be as small as possible but ends with looong explanations which doesn't help at all
Peace.

Well crap...I think I bricked it :-(

I tried to unroot my phone via OCLF from the market. It went dark, then got the normal Vibrant screen, the the Galaxy S screen, then it went dark again. Now, it just sits. Black screen. All the buttons at the bottom are lit up. :-/
Anyone?
Silly question, I know. But did you have a nandroid backup, by any chance?
This is probably a last resort, but try boot into recovery and wipe everything. This fix the problem for me, the downside is you lose all you data.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
If you are anything like me, recovery didn't work and using Odin and reflashing Stock with repartition didn't work either.
You'll need to use odin to flash Eugenes "Vibrant that doesn't brick" (NO REPARTITION), then use odin again to flash Stock (check repartition this time) and you'll be good to go.
You can try to flash the froyo rom with odin...... I had that same exact problem and this is what fixed it for me. Once froyo us flashed then you can flash whatever rom you want. Hth
Ok, I probably should have stated that I'm a complete newby and have no idea what I'm doing. I believe I do have nandroid, but other than that you all are speaking French to me.
Right now I'm in the recover mode (I think). It's hooked up to my computer and I'm in the "Downloading... Do not turn off target!!" mode. This is where I'm stuck...I have no idea where to go from here.
Please talk to me like I'm a 5 year old, because as far as this is concerned, I am!
Oh, and thank you so much for any help you can give me!

Well, good news is... you didn't brick your phone, this is recoverable. Best idea would be to search the forums on how to ODIN back to Stock. Theres plenty of posts on how to do it. You should also be able to find this in the tips & tricks threads. Good Luck.
Thank you all for your help! I recovered it!! Seems as though I was just going about it the wrong way!! I got into the actual recovery mode and cleared it all out. Now it's as good as new!

[Q] U8800H - Not booting - No Recovery Mode - Only Bootloader Mode

Hello People,
Firstly I would like to apologize if this is a duplicate post, Googling reveals tons of different documents which actually has confused me and as I have tried many, I don't even know now what have I screwed up.
Phone - U8800H
OS - Linux
I tried to update my phone and it got messed up. It simply won't boot but go in an infinite loop or restarting every 3 seconds (once the HUAWEI logo is displayed).
By pressing both Vol buttons and starting the phone I can go into bootloader mode (pink screen) and the phone drives get mounted. However trying to go to recover mode by pressing the Vol UP key during start up simply again keeps restarting the phone.
I have tried various solutions which include re-downloading the images folder files again, replacing the recover.img from clockwork, formatting that partition and retrying, almost everything.
The phone simply keeps restarting. Replacing or removing any of the file in the images folder gives me a blue screen during going to bootloader mode.
As I cant get to recover mode I don't know what to do.
The warranty of the phone is finished as it was only of three months. I was told by the company I purchased it from to be a "power problem" but I think its a software problem as I messed it up myself.
If anyone has faced such situation before please help.
Thanks.

The original ROM was U8800HV100R001AREC00B135SP01 CUSTC213D001 (Kuwait VIVA). I have downloaded it as well.
However as suggested it asks me to create a dload folder in a formatted SD card with the zipped files within it, and then start the phone in 'recovery mode'. However the phone doesn't start in that mode with the same restarting issue.
One person suggested to create a 'dload' folder in the SD card with no contents in it and then start the phone in 'bootloader' mode and the phone will auto revert to its default firmware. I did as suggested but it didn't work either.
I have the original boot.img that came with the phone. I also downloaded a fresh boot.img (along with the other three files that come in the images folder) but still the same result of restarting during trying to start in 'recover mode'.
It was working fine till I messed it up trying to upgrade it to 2.3 to change the patched wpa_supplicant file to connect to Ad-Hoc networks.
I think I need to change the files required for 'recover mode' to default ones, but I don't know where they reside. Any tutorial in this direction would be great.
Thanks.
My guess is that some of the partitions got messed up somehow, some different filesystems (ext4 over ext3) in 2.3 stock fw.
Have you tried copying update.app to dload-folder of sdcard then booted phone with both vol-down and vol-up pressed (bootloader mode). That should in theory start the update...

Ok then.... because I'm lost... which rom was on!
2.2.1?
or 2.3.?
these are the files needed FIRST....
---------- Post added at 05:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:16 PM ----------
Ok IF you were on 2.2.... on sdcard make \dload folder with update 2.2 original rom!!!!
Vol+ Vol- Power on...pink screen and it should do the rest!!!
Recovery after you reinstall 2.2!
Now IF you managed to put 2.3... then put 2.3 update in sdcard \dload and again it should do the rest.
If you are trying to come back to 2.2 or miui oxygen cm7 from the beta.... first put the 2.3 beta back on via the sdcard.
I have put the original ROM in 'dload' folder and as suggested I shall have started the phone in 'bootloader' mode now. There is no movement on the screen so I don't know even if its doing something.
How much should I wait or shall I be notified if the update is done ?
Thanks.

Is your folder structure like this
/sd
/sd/dload
/sd/dload/update.app
If it is, then boot to bootloader. you should see it is doing stuff.

I have double checked it again, the structure is 'dload' folder in the root of the memory card and the update.app file in it, still however I don't see any movement in the 'bootloader' mode, just the "pink" screen continuously lit.
What am I doing wrong ?
Thanks.

Pink screens means it didn't work. Your phone isn't mounting the sd-card right in bootloader mode. You could try to put the dload-folder on internal sd-card, should be possible since you're on linux. Think you just need to mount the right partition when connecting your phone via usb when in pinkscreen. I don't recall exactly which partition as I'm using Windows and haven't tried this, but you should be able to find some more info around here by searching a bit...

Hello XDA-Forum!
Same problem here with my u8800
I have original recovery.img but i fd' other files by overwriting them.. (yes i know...)
Now my phone doesen't start flashing and i cant do anything. I was using almost latest version of oxygen mod.
Do i need original files to flash my phone back to stock in image/... floder? And if i need, can i dig version form recovery.img? or might this is problem with partitions? I think oxygen is known by partition problems.

I have tried as you suggested, There were 5 partitions on the phone 2 of which were smaller than 200MB and therefore could not save the update file which is larger in size. I have tried over the remaining three partitions but in vain, they all end up with the same pink screen.
However you might be correct that my phone is not mounting the SD card as I can't see the SD card in the list of mounted drives in the computer.
To put/move files on SD card I have to use my another phone
I will get another SD card and try. In the meanwhile if there is anything else I could try, do advice me.
Thanks.

Hi, and welcome to XDA!
I guess you got the same problem with sd-card not mounting properly if you can't initiate stock flashing via dload-folder-method.
If you search the forums you'll find links to download all files that's needed in the image-folder of pinkscreen-partition. Then you'll hopefully be able to boot to recovery (vol-up + power), wipe data/cache/dalvik cache and flash whatever ROM you'd like. Remember this erases all your data, hopefully you've backed up whatever precious stuff you've got on your phone.

Remember that you need all files from the same version. Try this, those are from stock 2.2 if I'm not mistaken. When (if?) you get into recovery, remember to clear cache / data / dalvik cache.

Glad to hear you get it working as we both had the basically same problem.
For me however still it is the same issue, except that while going into the recover mode now it shuts down instead or restarting endlessly. Where as the bootloader mode simply does nothing.
Can you post the exact steps you did to get your work so I can also repeat them?
Thanks.

Okay guys. The last today I was messing around with aurora rom and have done some flashing. It was a matter of time for my phone not to boot up since I was flashing custom modded aurora rom(by sakura 2.11a).
The phone doesn't boot.I just see the ideos logo and stays there forever. The same applies also if I try to boot from recovery 5.0.27.Again I'm stuck at ideos logo.
I have a lot of working backups both in my internal and external sd.I only need to reach recovery once !!!
I can access the pink screen and I can see the following files as seen in the screenshoot.
The recovery img is this one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19331019#
I downloaded the recovery again and compared the phone one with the downloaded one via md5 and crc32(it's the same img).
The boot.img was replaced with the sakura 2.11a because it firstly was a custom one I had created (my bad ... )
The other files are left untouched because I don't know if I should mess with them.
I can connect my external sd card to my laptop and can see all the files are there.I can also write files.
Should I try the solution in post 2 at this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1579366
Please help me! I'm pretty much desperate here xD

Well, we understand that, but if you have a solution to the problem posted, it would be nice to see it written for the whole community, so that if anyone falls into the same issue they will know what to do...
Okay I will tell you something but please don't laugh at me.
I think from the shock that the phone didn't boot my mind messed up the key combination and instead of pressing power & volume up I was pressing power & volume down. That's what I thought after restoring. I copied into my external sd card the dload folder I used to upgrade from 2.2.2 to 2.3.5 and I used power & volume up. It booted into recovery. I restored a backup and everything returned to normal. After that I read genokolar's instructions on how to boot into recovery and I think it was just me who used the wrong key combination
It seems really funny now Panic can be the worst thing in the world sometimes
anyway,problem solved!!!!!

i have written it more than twice in similar posts here if someone searches for that i believe he will find the answer

I've tried everything - someone please help

The Core Prime will not boot into recovery, or safe mode, or to the home screen. The only way to sometimes get it into download mode is leave it plugged into the wall charger for a couple minutes, then it will SOMETIMES go into download mode to charge. Holding down every combination of keys does not work, please don't suggest holding down keys.
All I ever see is a mmc confirmation fail movinand checksum confirmation fail error no matter what I try. I never see the Samsung intro, boot intro, or tracfone intro anymore, just a black screen that leads to that error message in red letters.
Regardless of which computer or cable I use, Windows never sees the phone. Doesn't try to install the drivers, doesn't make a sound that something was plugged in, nothing shows up in device manager, nothing (even in download mode)
I called 800 Samsung (4 times asking the same thing to different people to make sure I didn't just get helped by a noob over the phone). I went and talked to the Samsung guys inside worst buy (didn't do anything except informing me there is a Samsung store in LA). I called the Samsung store in LA and talked to a technician and the technician supervisor (I could drive there if their answer wasn't factory reset)
But EVERYONE from Samsung is saying all that can be done is factory reset.
I do not need a factory reset. I need my data.
I have posted numerous threads, and even though there was good advice given, none of it worked.
All I did before this error was try to update Google maps. The phone has never been backed up/rooted/nothing its stock.
At this point, I'm willing to negotiate paying someone to get my data back.
Someone please help.

If your phone is still stuck, flash TWRP (google it if you don't know it) for s820l. After TWRP is installed backup your data to your Internal or External Storage. Once the backup is complete factory reset (I highly suggest bakcking up to an SD card) if it still only boots to this screen try flashing the Stock ROM.
If your phone is messed up after the factory reset, i suggest SD card for files and everything if your computer has an SD adapter and reader you won't need to turn the device on. Hopefully this fixes it for you.
P.S. By no means do I know exactly what I'm doing, I flashed the wrong TWRP for mine and only got a download screen. This is the method i used to fix it. Also i am not allowed to post links or I would. so google sm-s820l custom recovery and to get a Stock ROM. Above the page for it should be a bunch of tabs that look like this " Android Area 51 > Forum > Straight Talk/Net10 > Samsung Phones > Samsung Galaxy Core Prime > Recovery Releases" Click on Samsung GCP and then your all set. Hope this helps.

Above the page for it should be a bunch of tabs that look like this " Android Area 51 > Forum > Straight Talk/Net10 > Samsung Phones > Samsung Galaxy Core Prime > Recovery Releases" Click on Samsung GCP and then your all set. Hope this helps.

Core prime model is also G-360* (main number) not just SM-820L .

True so if it's not the SM-S820L just input your model number instead of the one I posted that was my bad I assumed TracFone. Also don't think just because the phone is the same they will all work if you do use the wrong TWRP or ROM because the model is different it will brick your device. Again it was my mistake but overall I hope this helps.

Never mind i just wanted to share info. + mine reply was before twrp or cwm being ported to core prime ,and at this time no custom roms for 360* Models
Is TWRP ported to other versions of this phone? It seems like it is atleast the VE one has it and my TracFone version does I'm sure most of the others ones do and you also do not need a Custom ROM just a stock one which is probably floating around out there somewhere. For the OPs phone which if the model was posted this would be a billion times easier. So Mr. OP please post your model for us to help if your issue is still happening.
G360 Rom

910F bricked..need help after creating.img on card

Hey guys..in fact I originally had one problem/question, but since I managed to brick my phone, I now have 2 questions. Hope you can help me with at least the one I need to unbrick the phone and later on, after bringing my phone back to life (I hope), I´ll ask the less important one. If you dont want to read it all, please go to the last paragraph to see the final problem and question.
So here´s what happened. As I was trying out different kernels on a Note7 ROM for my 910F, I managed to brick my phone. Originally the phone would not boot into recovery and gives me the message that there is a problem with firmware..as I tried to boot in download mode to flash stock ROM and get back to it, Odin gives me the message FAIL in red colour. I tried flashing again and then another stock ROM and again the problem persisted. It came to the point where the phone would now say that it couldnt read mmc (non-partition message in ODIN). After several hours (still counting) of searching both here at XDA and outside I finally managed to understand how to create a image recovery into a sd card and so I did it.
I used Win32DiskImager to write this image ( mega:///#F!QIMmFRIT!Ns3AM-n0FUoMqOOWUif9ng ) into my sd card. With phone off I inserted battery and then card and booted into download mode...SUCCESS...no more mmc message at the top left of screen, but still I cant manage to flash any stock ROM and FAIL message keeps coming. One time it said PIT not recognized and I used a SM-N910F_32GB.pit and it said PASS, but if I try and flash with ROM still fails. In the instructions it says I need to flash at the same time the SM-N910F_32GB.pit, a BL,a AP and a CP, but I cant find any BL and CP to any specific AP. Is this the solution or I am missing something here? Please help..my phone is bricked and my s4 cant manage to be my daily driver no more.
Thanks everyone

Hello friend and thank you for your reply. I don´t know how I missed that thread, but I´m glad you told me about it cause it had exactly the missing components I needed to solve my problem. But a new one just emerged with it.
I´ll be posting there from now on. Thanks again
