Deleted framework-res.apk - Xperia Arc General

While trying to do some mods and themeing I did something very stupid... instead of replacing the framework-res.apk file I first decided to rename it to framework-res.apk.bak
Since that moment I just can't start the phone... it's stuck on loading animation. I've tried to reboot, to wipe, even installed CyanogenMod (the phone is rooted and bootloader unlocked)... the CyanogenMod is installed right now, but after it loads (after the blue animation with the rotating arrow) it shows up the screen with the green droid with two buttons at the bottom - "Emergency call" and something else... and after 5 seconds it restarts back again.
I've tried to push the original file (I have a copy on my computer) but the adb.exe doesn't want to connect to the phone. I can enter in recovery, but there is no way to copy or rename file through there
PLEASE HELP

Use flashtool to flash the original rom you were using, just uncheck the box to wipe user data.

Nope... nothing new It loads the Sony Erricson animation and than restarts back again...

I could do: adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk
But how run the adb?!?! It always shows me: error: device not found

That was bad idea Because now the phone is with the original rom, ie. it's not rooted and it doesn't have recovery (bootloader is locked) and even the USB DEBUGGING and UNKNOWN SOURCES are OFF by default... So now there is absolutely no way to access anything...
Any other ideas?!?!

Find one of the theme packages that can Flash over recovery and flash them. Make sure it contains Famework-res.apk.

You should be able to use adb within recovery.

And how to enter recovery after I installed original rom from Flashtool?
I only can get in fastboot mode and flash mode... because the USB DEBUGGING and UNKNOWN SOURCES are OFF...
P.S> Or give just a tip - how to install a zip update (new theme with new framework-res.apk) at current stage?! Is there a way to do this through Flash mode in Flashtool or through fastboot?!

Flash a kernel with built-in recovery such as this, Advanced Stock (with recovery).

Good idea, but the link from mutliupload.com is closed by FBI Anti-Piracy program I get only a message and can't download the file

Nope... nothing helps. I managed to install the new kernel, after that I installed new theme... - no change, still restarting. Even tried with pushing the framework-res.apk with: adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk
Again - restarting
Any other ideas?

You'll need to flash a rom, not a theme. Use fastboot to flash doomkernel then fastboot to flash arconium or similar, wipe userdata in cwm, reboot then flash your theme.

You said you had CMW recovery, so....
Y U NO MAKE BACKUPS???
Always make nandroid backups before editing system files. It will save you A LOT of time and disappointment.
Since you are in this situation now, do as others adviced you above.
iR¡[email protected]!* via Tapatalk

Of course I had backup This is always the first step before doing anything... but it didn't help! I don't know why... it just didn't!
Here is what I had to do to make the little arc work again:
1. I installed new kernel which has included recovery in it;
2. Through the recovery I did Factory Reset / Wipe data / Wipe dalvik
3. Reboot
4. Through the recovery I started the ADB and did a copy of the original file with this function:
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk
Click to collapse
5. Through the recovery (without rebooting) I installed the original Generic version, BUT HERE IS THE IMPORTANT THING - moving from 4.0.2.A.0.42 to 4.0.2.A.0.62
After all... it started normally It's important to mention that after each step I was trying to start the phone, but it was still rebooting... so it's logical to say that the key step was the final one.

This is interesting...
When you say backup didn't work, what do you mean? Did you do an advanced restore (system only) or a full restore?
Were you not able to go into recovery at all?
I am asking because I am involved in a project regarding recovery integrated in /system (so for locked bootloaders) and any info would be very valuable! Thanks!

[REF] related to CM7 of WILDFIRE BUZZ

Hi everyone.
I'm just creating this thread to share any issues everyone is facing with cm7. And maybe getting issues fixed. Just trying so that everyone will share their issues + known solutions if any. Please specify the CM version on what you are talking about... PLS SHARE THE THINGS..
NOTE : The below things doesn't mean that they should be present in your device. It is always better if you don't have those. Just they are the common issues faced by many people.
FAQ's
1. My GPS / Wifi is not working.
A: This is the issue which most of the people are facing. Re-flashing the radio will solve this (cannot assure this since it didn't solve for some people) . If you are going with re-flashing the radio, please make sure that you have enough battery and using recovery 2.x (the one from rom manager is also enough). And flashing the hboot and radio has the potential to brick the phone, suppose if anything goes wrong. So, better to avoid doing these things frequently.
ALTERNATE METHOD (SAFE) : This is working. First install cm7 and then make a nandroid backup of it. Then wipe everything and restore the previous nandroid backup of stock froyo rom (or any rom with working gps) and use gps to capture your location. Then again wipe everything and restore the cm7 backup. Now gps will be working. And once gps on cm7 works, then even after a hard reset it still works. This seems to be an issue only when freshly installing cm7. This is definitely a safe method.
2. USB tethering not working + I can't see usb tethering option on status bar.
A: The status bar of cm7 doesn't has the option for selecting usb tethering (like stock rom). Instead the option is present in Settings/Wireless & Networks/Tethering & Portable hotspot/usb tethering. So, access the option from here. And make sure that your pc has necessary drivers (HTCDriver_2.0.7.17.exe is enough). No need of drivers for linux.
And another important thing is, You should disable USB DEBUGGING to access usb tethering. For doing that go to Settings/Applications/Development/ . The stock htc rom will disable usb debugging automatically when tethering is selected. But on cm7 presently u need to manually disable the debugging option (for usb tethering to work).
3. I can't access MOBILE INTERNET DATA
A: Check whether you have the correct access point or not. Go to Settings/Wireless & Networks/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names/ . If this is the issue make sure to manually add APN by clicking menu and select "New APN". The settings to be told by your service provider. Or if you have the previous working nandroid backups, then u can note the settings from them to be entered in CM7 apn. The APN will be generally configured automatically, and in case if they are not, you need to manually add apn.
4. I can't see the market application.
A: Google apps package is not included in CM7 rom. Make sure u have flashed the "universal google apps package for CM7" from the recovery. It is better to flash the google apps just after flashing the rom (without a reboot gap). The process of flashing google apps is same as the process of flashing a custom rom. And login to your gmail account to access the market.
--Google apps link: gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip
5. I can't add facebook / twitter account through settings.
A: You need to have those applications installed to add those accounts. Just after opening the market for first time, you will see a MARKET INSTALLER screen to "Choose the apps to install". This includes facebook, gmail, google goggles, google maps, google voice, twitter, youtube and some others. Either install them from this screen or install them later from market to integrate those accounts. And u can synchronize the facebook contacts on doing this.
6. Problem related to Wifi connection
A: Try to change the number of channels under Wifi Advanced settings/Regulatory domain/ .
7. I can't enable BLUETOOTH FTP
Maybe there is no option by default. But you can always enable it with third party apps like "Bluetooth file transfer"(by medieval software) .
8. I can't access root permissions
A: in 99% cases, the su binary will be there in the rom. Incase if you can't access the root permissions due to the absence of su binary, then flash this file from recovery just like flashing any other rom.
su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip
9. Font issue of Google Maps
A: The newer version of google maps is somewhat laggy and has blurred fonts. Try the older version (gmm-android-google version:5.0.0) which has clear font and is more responsive.
**********************Thanks to Cyanogen Mod team for the awesome rom**********************
Nice Post. Haven't had any of those issues myself so far. Good to see some useful information though.
Yep. Not everyone has all the issues. But depends. Thank u
I don't have had any of those issues yet. All of the things you mentioned are working just fine.
mine working great so far..just my youtube videos are black screen..sound is there tho.
Random reboot, wifi dying on full signal.
Openfire ftw lol, no problems what so ever.

Don't know, but check again ...
You are using recovery 3.x and it is correct one for cm7.
Download link for nightly version here http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=nightly&device=buzz
Then boot into custom recovery and select wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, factory reset . Then select "install zip from sdcard". Then "choose zip from sdcard". Then add the downloaded file. Takes around 5min to install. Then install the google apps package linked above. After that, reboot. Will solve i think.
I have a problem with the phone. I am on CM 7 stable. Whenever I receive a phone call, and answer, it first activates speakerphone for a second or two and then goes back to normal. Anybody else have this problem?

Have had something similar, and in trying to restore it, I tought I almost broke my phone :-o it would only boot up in recovery, very painfull for a moment.
I solved it by flashing the nandroid backup immages manualy with the use of fastboot.
1. Open the nandroid backup folder on your computer and you can see a boot.img, data.img and system.img
2. Copy (only) those three in the same folder where fastboot.exe is stored.
3. Reboot phone into bootloader. Select fastboot and plug the phone in your computer.
4. Open the command line on your computer and browse to the folder where fastboot is. Type "fastboot devices" and hit enter. You should see your device listed now.
5. Type
"fastboot flash system system.img" and hit enter
"fastboot flash userdata data.img" and hit enter
"fastboot flash boot boot.img" and hit enter
Note that every time you time you hit enter, you can follow the proces in the bootloader itself.
6. Type "fastboot reboot" and hit enter
It should work. Make sure you have enough battery and wathever you do, do not interupt the flashing proces.
Good luck with it,
Erwin

I guess u have changed the folder name of backup folder (which will be normally in date and time). I have also once changed the folder name of that and it said md5 checksum error. But this can be flashed from fastboot flash method.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While restoring nandroid backup through fastboot process make sure u first delete the things (you can also do these from recovery menu). The commands will be
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase dalvik-cache
fastboot erase system
Then use the commands said above by erwinP (can also include cache.img). Keep your img files in the fastboot.exe folder ( = command prompt CD folder).
And recovery version shouldn't be giving issues related to nandroid restore AFAIK.

i solved my problems by myself, thanks anyway, back to cm7 - best

Go to this thread [REF] [22/06] [MAJOR UPDATE] The Complete Wildfire Index
and download the radio from section 4. Put the zip file on sdcard.
Then you should have clockworkmod 2.x recovery for flashing this. This is because amend scripting is not supported by recovery 3.x and +. So, if you are using CWM 3.x , then you can open rom manager and select "flash recovery" which flashes 2.5.0.7 recovery as a secondary thing on the memory card. Then if you select "Reboot to Recovery" from the rom manager itself, your phone reboots into 2.x recovery for that one time only [Let us call this as secondary recovery]. Now you can flash the Radio file you downloaded. Make sure your battery is enough so as not to interrupt the process. And once you are in 2.x recovery, then select "install zip from sdcard" and then "choose zip from sdcard". Then add your zip file. (NOTE : Donot wipe the data for radio installations, not necessary)
note: For secondary recovery to work, the memory card should be mounted (Although u need it for every recovery flashing).
for me radio re-flashing dont work, or should i flash older 1? thank you.

[Q] What to do after a brick?

Hello everyone.
I hope you can help me.
I had an A500 bricked spontaneously (I was checking Twitter, the screen frozen, I turned off the tablet and when I turned it on again, it stucked on Acer logo) so I used the guide to recover recovery (this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751978, because I rooted my tablet but I didn't install recovery).
Everything was ok, I flashed the V7-Thor v1.7.3 but when I tried to install stock ROM of ICS (wipe data and cache), the tablet got "re-bricked" and only enter in APX mode.
Then I reflashed and installed V8-Thor_1.7.3_recovery and I tried to install Acer_AV041_A500_1.054.00_WW_GEN1-DEODEXED-FULLROOT through update.zip (turned on the tablet in recovery --> Install from zip file --> Install zip file from SD card --> update.zip, then it said "Installed" and I rebooted the tablet, but it stuck on "Booting primary kernel image"...
What I'm missing or doing wrong? :/
What should I do to run ICS in my tablet again?
I'm not familiarized with the ROMs, Recoverys or flash... sorry if my question is stupid or something, but before this I never moved anything to my tablet (except for root it).
And sorry too for my bad English.

I think where you went wrong was choosing "install zip file from sdcard >update.zip"
Go back into recovery again > install from zip file > Choose zip from SD card (
if the file is on your micro sd card)
You should see a list of all your files and choose your rom file:
Acer_AV041_A500_1.054.00_WW_GEN1-DEODEXED-FULLROOT.zip
Once its done, Stay in recovery and go to: Wipe Menu and do all the wipes there
Data -cache and dalvi-cache then reboot
Once you're all set up and before you reboot again, make sure there is not an "update.zip" on your sdcard - if you boot to recovery it may flash automatically and you will end up "stuck" again
good luck

Thanks! I did it and it worked, but after the reboot the tablet only shows the animated android logo... what's the problem? The ROM?
When I did the "Wipe data" it said "Formatting data" and after "Skipping erase of /data/media". I checked with the "Mount and Storage" menu in recovery and seems like my data before the brick's still in the internal storage of the tablet... is that normal?
EDIT: what version of cwm to have now? If its not 1.7.3 then go ahead and reflash the v8

Yes it is - keeps your data intact but 'resets' the rom to like it is when you first flash, there is an option to wipe data/media if you wish to - theres a toggle to enable it but on every boot to recovery it will be disabled again...
You can try another flash of the rom itself otherwise reflash the v8 bootloader.
Do you have access to "fastboot mode" power vol down - just wondering

I tried to reflash the same ROM, but this time nothing happened, again only says "Booting primary kernel image"... a question, if I try to flash a stock ROM (like Acer_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1.zip from the post of stock roms)... it will let my tablet again only in APX mode when I turn on it, right?
And I see the option "Fastboot mode" when I turn on the tablet holding Vol +.
About your question I don't know how to answer, I flashed V8-Thor_1.7.3_recovery... is that a CWM?
In the top it says CWM Recovery v5.5.0.x(thor2002ro/digetx rev 1.7.3) Iconia A50x...

sorry, not sure I understand your question...are you saying you're now stuck in apx mode - black screen power light on?
There are 2 types of stock rom on here....
1) Official Acer EUU or OTA roms
2) Official Stock roms which are Custom - pre-rooted and able to flash CWM etc -
If you flash one of the Acer EUU or OTA roms you will lose CWM and Root
To be honest - with your tab "spontaneously" booting and being stuck on the acer logo and the issues that have followed - its sounding more and more like a faulty chip - this is something that only acer can fix...I could be wrong about this and I hope I am...but something is just not feeling right...
- you still have cwm and access to fastboot - thats a bonus - maybe do a complete format thru CWM of data/media, system (and flexrom if its there) then try to flash a rom again - if it still won't flash AND if you're not stuck in apx mode then I think you'd be best to download an official update.zip - from Blackthund3rs thread here this one -
Acer_AV041_1.054.00_WW_GEN1:
Once you've d/l'ed it...try opening it if you can't then it will need decrypting the instructions for this are in the OP..
Once you have extracted the "update.zip" and have it on your sdcard - flash via CWM
good luck

Hello everyone!
I have a similar issue whith my a500. but i can restore the backup i did of my honeycomb sistem in cwm (i have acess)
aftter making the backup i have flashed V8-Thor_1.7.3_recovery.a500apx in apxflashtool in order to get ics boot loader and install ICS roms.
so far so good after the flash i had already a ICS rom in my sd card redy to flash so imediatly after V8 flash entered cwm and did clean format and wipe all. Next installed the rom (aroma instalation) no problems what so ever. After instalation is finished reboted and now im stuck on skilax v8 bootloader boting primary kernel image
i tried the folowing
- chage kernel multiboot fix partitions redo clean format etc etc etc (ALL THE STEPS)
-many other ics jellybean rooms (all of the install but dont boot)
- honey comb rooms install and BOOT normaly.
at this point thought maybe it was a bad V8 flash and decided to reflash the V8-Thor_1.7.3_recovery.a500apx
Now the flash tool can get pass uploading image phase.
i have correct sbk and cpuuid since i had to recover last week from boot verified failed error and use the flash tool whith correct sbk to recover the tablet with sucess.
So basicly im stuck wit
h my honeycomb rom backup or other HC roms
any news on this subject?

Yes just one question what is - " chage kernel multiboot "???? Sounds dodgy
You can boot to fastboot mode then do an erase of data and cache, see if that helps for a start....
Do you stil have recovery and can you still restore your HC backup?
I have seen a post or two where tabs can only boot HC Roms and no ICS
It "maybe" the dreaded hardware fault - you might be best to d/l the babsector.rar and run that - it will give you a proper error if theres something wrong - can get it from the root guide in my sig. Give me a minute or two and I'll post some steps in using it
---------- Post added at 09:12 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:53 AM ----------
How to use babsector.rar
Download and extract the babsector.rar to a folder on your PC
Turn your tab off and put it in apx mode manually. Press and hold reset button, hold power for 3 secs after the light comes on and release it, after another second release the reset button. Your screen is black and the power light is on.
Connect your tab to your PC
Navigate to the babsector folder and click on 501 A.bat, when its done
Reboot into recovery
Go to Mounts and Storage and Format System twice and Power Off
Go back into apx mode and run 501 B.bat
Reboot into recovery and do the wipes and flash your rom
Reboot

[Q] Extracting /data/media from a powered off nexus 4 : Any pointers?

Hello all,
After a 2 day search on XDA and other forums, i decided to post a question (hopefully not a repeated one).
Hopefully the answer may be as simple as "NO", but would appreciate any help/guidance
1. I am using a unrooted nexus 4 with 4.4.3 update in place. Locked bootloader.
2. The phone died due to battery drain. Upon charging it, the phone boots up but gets stuck at merging circles and doesnt go beyond.
3. Unfortunately, I do not have a complete backup of my pictures (dont know why i stopped taking a backup after a while).
4. Now, the phone do gets into recovery mode etc and i tried wiping the cache, but no luck.
5. The best I could do till now is to have adb installed on my PC. The device does gets detected in adb sideload mode alone.
Is there any way I could take a backup of my /data/media before i try rooting it or do a hard reset?
I tried using adb backup, but all i see as status of the phone as adb sideload (since I am in recovery and tried to use apply update using adb).. hence cant use adb backup -shared ! Any ideas to this data out from the powered OFF phone ?
Thanks for any response in advance.

Varun
You have a custom recovery, correct? Have you tried flashing your ROM?

I dont think so. I did not make any changes to the ROM (planning to do until now).
Also, it is not a custom recovery but just the recovery mode (from the OEM), that I get with only 4 options :
1. Reboot
2. Use adb to update
3. Wipe data/reset
4. Wipe cache

if only I could get into adb mode from adb sideload, i guess i can do a backup -shared ....but not sure how to do that without unlocking boot loader (leading to data loss).
As i recently learned, this is a stock recovery I am into...
Thanks !!
If you're on the stock recovery I'm afraid you're not going to be able to use adb to pull any files.

You can't do anything as your bootloader is locked.

[TUT][Z1] ROLLED back to STOCK from NOUGAT without FLASHTOOL [PARTITIONS BACKUP apps]

Hello all.. This tutorial provided for who having experience a bit annoying constraints. tired almost all NOUGAT rom so far and i always use flashtool for back to stock, its really not practically... now just use some apps from playstore called ''Partitions Backup'' is very easy for using also safety, Provided that in accordance with the procedures and the right way.
Here we go guys...
my comeback step by step :
=============================
this time when on stock lollipop (before flashing Nougat ROM)
=============================
Download apps 'Partitions Backup' from PlayStore
Open apps, then go to settings for choosing directory path/ of placing file backup THEN tick a columns 'only' raw img file (to creat backup file with .img formats as required to restoring)
Now choose type partitions (tick only apps_log), then starting backup
Done, now we get a new backup for apps_log partitions from stock.
=============================
Now when we're living in NOUGAT ROM.,and want to comeback stock lollipop
=============================
Install and open apps 'partitions backup'
Go to menu, select 'restore a partition'
navigate to path directory where u save a backup file,
Select it (must be backup file format is .img)
after selected,Will appear the popup select destination partition tick a columns type partition for restoring, select 'apps_log' (it means the restoring will lead to the apps_log partition) then click Restore
after finish restoring, now turn off a phone
go to twrp via press the 'power button+vol down' until phone is vibrate, then release the power button only, next the display will blank to twrp's appear.
Is Done, now we can flash any flashable zip ROM stock based, like a prerooted_firmware,Dstriker_Kai,Mx_Rom, or other...
*NOTE: Dont forget, before flashing Stock ROM .zip make a FULL WIPE as always
THANKS TO
ALLAH s.w.t

also thx to all membar Official Sony Xperia™ Z1 (Honami) Indonesia
Ok just it, very simple tutorial without flashtool we can comback to stock ROM
with all due respect, i'am really sorry to creat this post (maybe) a poor speak articulation because i'm Indonesian, and writing this via my Z1..
thank you!
I was just wondering if fastboot would work? Can you try if "fastboot erase apps_log" works? And if it does, does the stock rom boot?
Would be way easier than backuping whole partition.

Thanks to the apps,If we have been accustomed to using, it will be very fast and easy to return stock without pc. We can switch the ROM from Lp>N>Lp again and again, in just a few minutes, even when I'm not at home and no pc. Hehe
This are really i needed.. Tried n working, easy, very useful
Thanks @Snp Mania2

in precisely your suggest makes empty apps_log partitions,apps_log is gone so the devices never booting till apps_log is there again. Using this tuts is right way more simple than your

well, it's not gone. It's filled with data for recovery and stock rom can't handle that. This is as workaround for our device, because nougat requires /misc partition that our device lacks.
What's easier on backing up and restoring instead of issuing one command?

Freezes on Google screen after attempted SU Install from TWRP

Ok I am sure I did this before without any problem, but this time, through TWRP on the NRTK, I installed Magisk, no problems, and then went back to install the SU with the zip file in TWRP again and then on the reboot it freezes on the Google startup screen.
I didnt even want to install the SU zip, but when I ran SU after Magisk installed after reboot, SU gave an error, so I decided to install SU from TWRP.
Did I do something wrong there, so I dont repeat the same error next time?
And how do I get out of this locked state?
I've tried wiping all cache to factory reset without deleting internal storage data... I am hoping I dont have to delete and wipe everything and start all over. I did not have a chance to eve install TiB yet.

Flash the stock boot.img from the image/rom you were using before this and reboot. You will have to re-root (properly) afterwards, but your phone should boot up. If you use Magisk, you don't need SU, and vice versa. Use only one method to root.

Hmmm ya I prob should have posted that SU error message instead of what I did, douche move.
But how do I flash the boot.img... I have an original copy of it on my PC... can I somehow while in TWRP on the phone connect to my PC via cable and run commands from my PC in CMD and execute that old boot.img flash? Or is there a location in the stock Nexus already I can use? Because there is no file in the root drive after I did the soft wipe.
P.S. Everything I have done so far has not deleted my whole storage, yet.... not sure if that is necessary at this point bec it seems reflashing the boot.img wipes absolutely everything again? If I have to it is what it is... just painful when this happens before I could get TiB running... unless my Nandroid backup file I have will restore and work after I do this?

While in TWRP you have MTP (file transfer) so you can add files to your device. Transfer the boot.img over to your device via MTP and then use TWRP to flash. Just be sure to select flash IMAGE rather than ZIP. Lesson here is when you get back up and running, install fastboot/adb and make sure it is working well and communicating with your PC. Then you can learn how to use it. This would take literally 5 seconds to flash via fastboot (device in bootloader mode).

NO, flashing boot.img will not delete any of your files. It will only write to the boot partition. If using fastboot the command is fastboot flash boot boot.img

Yep I actually had those platform files already, and yes the MTP was active there, I just never tried that before so didnt know it was even a possibility or the right way.
So I tried via flashing my very old boot.img and also the one from
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/stock-modified-boot-img-regular-root-t3306684
via TWRP "Install" via image install (not zip) and to the "boot partition"
and no change, same stuck on Google logo screen.
I tried the fastboot command from CMD and it says
< waiting for any device >
and doesnt do anything. I had it on the default TWRP menu screen.... I waited over 20 min although I know it shouldnt take near that long, just in case.
My bootloader is unlocked BTW, I dont want to assume anything here.
You need help getting the latest fastboot/adb binaries working on your PC. So many tutorials on how to do this. Ugh.

Which OS security patch were you running? Flash the system (to the system partition in TWRP) and boot images (again) from the 6P factory image of the same name:
https://developers.google.com/android/images?hl=en
See if this helps.

Not sure what you mean... I JUST did all that when I redid my phone completely back to factory etc etc.... just few weeks ago and then again on my new replacement. But just to be sure, I downloaded all those files again today and it didnt make any difference.
Still stuck on the
< waiting for any device >
I have to be missing some other step or something else is wrong here.
FYI not sure if this matters but when phone boots to recovery there's a red error message
"Unable to mount storage"
but it loads to TWRP fine anyways.

Yep thats what I been doing.....
So the CMD command still doesnt work, which I think is weird in itself... and when I try to install from recovery, it goes through the whole process, both boot.img and system.img, but then it freezes on the Google logo again, so no change.
Sorry I am not sure what security patch, I just got this used from eBay, and one thing, not sure if this means anything, it says its a beta version or something and that message came up all the time when I rebooted when the phone was working.
Do I need to suck it up and redo the whole phone again........ :/
