Apps for kids?

Hi,
Do you have any apps recommendation for kids age 2 - 4 ?
You know, some simple games ... or simple apps like drawing ...
I was debating with my wife, she wanted an iPhone because she saw her friend's kid (2+ years) like to play with iPhone ... drawing app, even YouTube!
We are expecting our first baby and I don't want my baby to know anything about Apple, especially iPhone
Search for Doodle kids

I downloaded Video Box from the market to be able to save some youtube videos in the sd card. They are the ones my 2 year old daughter loves most... you know, kids songs or parts of movies, etc.
They are the situation savers when we are out, in the car for a long trip or when there is poor connectivity.
It seems she also likes a lot Asphalt.. not very much for the race actually, but she enjoys changing the color of the car in the configuration and checking if she knows the name!
(Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App)
'Toddler Lock' and 'Zebra Paint' ... great for killing time in the car 'Pinball', 'Tub Thumber, and 'PapiJump' are good too.
Depending upon is your child is a girl or a boy, there's is HEAPS of disney princesses games (different clothes on the princess dolls, etc.) too. There is also lots of puzzles available where the screen is split into 9 squares and you have to move them to make the picture.

Kids Tablet Apps - Need Suggestions

Alright Nook Color forum. I'm new here. Mostly been in the G1, G2, and MT4g forums. Been an Android user since the G1 came out. All our phones are rooted, rom'd, etc...
So long story short, I talked my wife out of a leapster for our 3 year old son and into an android tablet since he loves playing games on my old G1. So I picked up a slightly used NC with screen protector and a real nice case for $130. It's rooted with CM 7. Our son knows how to launch apps from the desktop, slide the notification bar, and play kids apps like memory games, ABC's, slide puzzles, and he loves angry birds. So I also put some kids books apps that read to him and he can swipe the pages and hid the launcher and put all the shortcuts on one desktop.
I also loaded some kids movies like cars 2 and Thomas the train on the SD card and he loves watching those.
So far he loves it and can totally launch apps and play then by himself. But now to completely sell my wife on the idea I need to find some really good high quality apps for kids, not these free puzzles that he gets bored with in 2 minutes, but some really good high quality apps that are scaled properly for tablets. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated and thanked.

If you type kids in the google market you can view the results by popularity.
+1 on the Zoodles app! My 5 year old has a lot of fun with that one!
He also likes Ant Smasher: https://market.android.com/details?...mNvbS5iZXN0Y29vbGZ1bmdhbWVzLmFudHNtYXNoZXIiXQ
(not educational, just fun)
If your son likes to draw, then Kids Paint Free is good: https://market.android.com/details?...251bGwsMSwxLDEsInZpcnR1YWxncy5raWRzcGFpbnQiXQ
(I recommend either using AdFree, or paying the buck to get the ad free version)
And you pretty much can't go wrong with anything from "Intellijoy": https://market.android.com/details?...251bGwsMSwxLDEsInZpcnR1YWxncy5raWRzcGFpbnQiXQ
Of course, my son also likes playing Fruit Ninja, and RoboDefense.

What are some good games and apps to put on transformer for long trips?

Apps and games for on a flight or road trip, that have good replay/reusability.
I'd like to see what keeps transformer users entertained for long periods of downtime with no possible internet.
So far I've got sentinel3, some roms and emulators, and a few books..
I'm not sure about long trips but I enjoy short bursts of:
- Flight Control
- Jelly Defense (though I'm stuck a few levels in and can't get past the one I'm on)
- Bunny Shooter
- Plasma Lamp
- and of course the Angry Birds trilogy
Super Stick Man Golf is pretty fun.
Angry birds its ok...
Galaxy on Fire 2 also is free and supports the Tegra GPU,
Plants vs Zombies pretty much killed 2 flights across Canada for me, still haven't beat all the mini-games yet.
If I were you I'd put some movies on it! Last long road trip I used my TF to watch movies and time passed pretty quickly.
Oh and GTA III will probably last you ages too!
Flick Golf
Homerun Battle 3d
Let's Golf 2
Pocket Racing
Shoot Bubble
Shoot the Apple
Uno
Also, I use "stumbleupon". Great way to kill some time when you have an internet connection.
Apperatus
Plants Vs Zombies
World Of Goo

For shooting:
GTA3
Plants Vs Zombies
If you like nice physics puzzles the following high rates games play really well
World of Goo
Where is my water
If you like stragegy games, little war game is another favorite with myself and kids.
my favorite tower defense is sentinel 3. ive played.... probably all of them. guns n glory is ok, much more micro management, unique twist on the game type.
we just got two new games from iOS though too, Osmos and Anomaly Warzone (tower offense) which are amazing, titles I bought for PC on steam. world of goo is in the same category, and an awesome game. those 3 are probably the best games out there right now. the attempts at shooters are lame imo.
I've been digging audio books on mine, tTorrent is an actual torrent client to download them right onto your tablet.
galaxy on fire 2 is pretty fun too, and has a story line
Refraction is one of the best puzzle games ever (till we get SpaceChem) and not too hard, think its free
moon chaser is fun for a one touch control game
emulators are awesome

Good game for the Nexus?

I am not a huge gamer and I don't want to play a game that involves throwing around my Nexus or hammering the screen, but I would like to play a game that's fun and shows of the device. Can anyone recommend a decent game that looks good on the Nex?

Cheers, shall try it
Best game for me by far is Pinball Arcade. This "game" is a simulation of some of the most popular real life pinball machines that were distributed all over the world from multiple manufacturers.
I've been involved with Pinball games for years both real and virtual and I can tell you the physics and gameplay on this simulation is very very good. To put it truthfully there are guys that have been trying to emulate these real life pinball games for years over at VPForums that haven't come even close to this quality. For a guy that has played these particular games in real life and in multiple formats virtually ( thanks to VPforums ) this is as close as it gets to having the ultimate pinball fix. Plays fantastic on the nexus7. Don't let the price of the tables sway you they are worth every dime, you can tell someone spent a whole lot of time on these to make sure they play just like the real thing.
dead trigger all the way. best android game ive ever played. unless your rooted. then get n64oid works wayy better then muppen64. playing conker bfd as i type =D
Horn
Galaxy on Fire 2
Osmos HD

Dead Trigger

Reckless Racing 2
Rebuild
Minecraft
Anything in the Baseball Superstars Series
Death Rally
Zenonia series
Six Guns
World of Goo
Siegecraft
Dead on Arrival
There are a ton of great ones out there. Thats just what I have installed between my tablet and phone
FIFA 12 and Tiger Woods 12 are my most played. I like sports games mostly.

Dude you made my day with this post.
I already had 22 of what I consider to be the top-notch games on my Nexus 7 (which I've only owned for about 6 days now) and I thought I was pretty much done with what was available in the Play Store. Until you posted.. I've already bought four tables and I'm sure I'm going to buy the rest.

How long is the final fantasy 3 demo

I have played it a while and it hasn't asked to purchase.

For me, it let me go find a Mythril Ring, defeat the Djinn, go oggle at the Crystal a second time and then it wanted me to pay right after I stepped on the glowing platform of wonder in the Crystal room.
Thanks the monsters are to tough for me in the djinn cave not sure what to do.

FFIII is a classic JRPG, you'll need to spend time leveling up. IMO the best place to do this is in the left tower of the castle. Also make sure you get the sword on the top before going after the Djinn. For the boss in the tower, make sure to equip the sword while in battle or it's an extremely hard fight that early. The benefits will be great, though.
The reason I suggest this area to level up over the djinn cave is because there is a bed close by to sleep in. Just remember to exit the castle and save every so often.
Oh how I love the old RPG's!
Thanks I know there hard I never liked them as a kid.

I had most of my characters double up on their weapons (knife + dagger/dagger+ + dagger/longsword + dagger combos), that helped. As did wandering around out in the field for a while playing with the Trolls
Also worth doing is battling up to the top floor of the castle's West tower to get the sword up there, as it adds an extra hit to your attack.
I'm considering a purchase, anyone know how many hours of play roughly the full version has?
Since it took me 2 hours to beat the demo a lot.

The game takes between 40 and 60 hours to beat depending on what you do, how good you are at this type of game, and how "complete" you want it to be. There is a good amount of extra content that doesn't need to be completed to beat the game, but this game does require a good amount of grinding. Only a truly hardcore JRPG fan would probably beat it in 40 hours!
Final Fantasy 3 is a super long game. I'm seeing quick plays of about 60+ hours. About 100+ hours if you explore everything and do the side quests. It was originally on the SNES as a full fledged game, then remastered on the Nintendo DS with 3D characters, then released for mobile with touch controls.
That pretty much seals the deal for me then, I love JRPGs. Took me months to beat FF7 because I was insistent on checking out everything, collecting all the items/Materia etc. Currently playing back through it on PS3 as well, found it dirt cheap in the PSN store a while back. I do own a SNES but for some reason just can't get into 8/16Bit RPGs. To a certain extent I like my RPGs to be a bit of a graphics fest as well as an epic story.
Does the storyline of FF3 get any darker/more adult oriented at some point though? I find it all a bit happy-nicey kid friendly at the moment, and the things I liked most about 7 and 8 was that there were some real dark moments and intriguing plot twists in them.

It's been years since I played 3, and it was the original, but no I don't think it gets much darker or in depth. It was done at a time when RPG's were still rather new. I think FFIV was the first to have a dark story with intriguing plot twists. which hopefully will be heading to the OUYA as well, but FFIII is worth the playthrough either way. I'm really looking forward to it since it has been so many years!
All I'm saying is final fantasy 7 fpse
FF3 does get pretty deep though. There is the normal world, then the dark world. All of the FF games get pretty heavy, some more then others but still good none-the-less.
I like the sprite SNES versions, personally. While the 3D versions are cool, they retain a child-like feel that is off-putting for me. The old Sprites, to me, made me feel they were older.
