[Q] Crap battery life after root - Kindle Fire General

I rooted my friends kindle fire and now his fire will get really hot, seems to be out of no where, and the battery will drop about 40% in 2 minutes then cool down and slowly drain. In the battery usage meter Kindle Idle is 70%, Display, Wifi and KindleOS was the other 30%. Rooted with Burrito Root 3 running stock.

Ok, so if I were you I would try and install twrp and a custom Rom. It sounds like there is something weird going on with your kernel. Back everything up with titanium backup and flash the new rom. Or you can try the factory reset by holding down the power key for 20 seconds and wipe everything and start from scratch.

Notice battery issue recently.

So im at a convention thisweekend and its been a while since I flash my rom to 3.2 freshbaked. This weekend I notice straight from 100% I was burning through most of it in 6-7 hour with out alot of usage. I took my phone out at 11:30 today and its only 4 and im already down to 36%. My battery usage shows 36% from system 22 from cell standby with 0 signal lost and 21 idle. Ill flash an updated rom when u get back.

flashed new 3.3.0 fresh and after a full charge i've left it idle for 2 hours and i've already drained 20% of the battery. That roughly 10 hours of doing nothing and my phones dead.
It could be some app you are using/installed.
I recently flashed Fresh and expierenced the same situation . My Android system was always the highest on the list . I removed apps and stripped it down , I wiped Dalvik and Cache you name it and the phone could sit idle and the Android system would be as much as cellstand by if not higher . I eventually just went back to stock Froyo with root . Android system now sits lower than cell stand by and phone idle
I'm using the newest fresh Rom with kings 9 kernel and set CPU. I never been a heavy user but I'm sitting at 19hrs and 43% I took it off the charger around 3pm Saturday and have not charged it since.

fresh 3.3, and netarchy's 4.1.9.1 fresh comp kernel, run your battery down to 3%, once there, boot into recovery, wipe your battery stats, and then reboot, once you reboot you may only get as far as the lockscreen before it shuts off, then either swap in a spare fully charged battery, or fully charge your battery with the phone turned off.
This is insane I'm currently Losing 1. 5. % a minute. Took it off 8 minutes ago and its down to 86 with 70% system usage

What is your signal like in the building? I had a similar issue when I couldn't get a good signal. The phone would last four hours just sitting on my hip.

whats the Up & Awake times?
with 22% left i unplugged it around 6 hour ago.
My Uptime is 27:13:36
Awake - 4:19:58
36% Cell Standby
30% Idle
22% System
7% display
5% voice call.
I bought a big ass battery, problem solved...
installed collins battery mod hope this works.

After Battery stats wipe...

has anyone had the issue of the battery dying extremely fast after a stats wipe?
so i wiped battery stats after following the directions for royalginger...but was never able to get the rom to boot...so ive loaded up a backup...but now the battery is losing about 3-5% every 30 minutes with the phone just sitting idle on my desk
this battery normally would normally sit at 100% for at least 9 hours idling just sitting on my desk overnight or just while i work on the computer
so the details...im running IG 1.1.6 with Faux's 0.7.7b kernel...OC'ed to 1209max/368min...watchdog claims to have 49 apps running with 1% used and 95% idle...wifi and wifi calling enabled
so anyone got any ideas? is it normal to see battery drain quicker after stat wipe? should i let this drain and then follow one of the calibrate battery guides?
im at a loss here...i just want my 9 hours at 100% back
I never got 9 hours just sitting I'm trying to get that now...

From what I gather you really aren't suppossed to do a stats wipe as of now. Since there is a bug in the phone/recovery which powers the phone on while charging there is now way to fill the battery to a true 100% so you could then wipe the stats.
If you did, chances are you wiped when your phone realyl wasnt at 100%, thus now your 100% is really 90.,.

Battery Life After CWM Recovery Restore

Hey Guys, i have noticed before i did my restore through CWM Recovery that my battery life was at 30% and after the restore it jumped up to 73%!!!! After that i was skeptical about what the restore has done and i am seeing a discrepancy in my battery life before and after =/
Any reason for this?
I also tried wiping my battery stats and doing a battery calibration through Nemu's app (Battery Calibration) and still the battery is nothing to what it was before. Before it would go a whole day before i needed to charge it and when i did charge it at the end of the day it would be at 20% or so with heavy use and a lot of phone call time, but now the battery life only sustains for about half a day if that with very minimal use and light talking, in fact it drains at about 10% every 2-3 hours when i have the screen off...
Any hints on as to why and how to prevent this again should i do a restore through CWM Recovery?
I noticed a similar effect with my Atrix 4G, however I forgot about it until I saw this topic.
Not sure why it does this but I have noticed similar results multiple times. After any wipe or restore I try to do a full charge with the phone off. This seems to help, or at least gives me peace of mind...

well going from 33% to 70% could be normal since recovery replace the charge .bin so you are actaully charging you device. try pull the battery an recharge,
maybe there is a rogue app try start "freezing" som apps one by one and check battery
didn't realize it was that extreme, but ^ is right, you're charging while you mess around in CWM. i went from ~15% to 40% on the next boot while reinstalling GB 3.5

That battery life though...

Just got the tablet a few days ago. Love the speed. Love the pen. Love the stock UI. Love the tablet. But that battery life..... yikes. I wanted to know how everyone's battery life was. I'm on rooted 4.4.2 and it dies so fast. If I'm not using it, it stays on the same percentage for a few hours but if I'm using it, even for light browsing, the battery percentage just drops. While I'm playing Dead Trigger, it takes like 5 minutes of gaming to drop 10%. I'm on maximum performance so I didn't know if that was normal or not. But thats during gaming on max performance so I can't say I didn't expect that. What I didn't expect however, is how fast it drops even with nongaming use at low battery setting. I was taking notes in class earlier today and it dropped a percentage roughly every 1.5 minutes. Is this normal? What are your battery lives like? Does it get better if I roll back to 4.3 or 4.2.2?

Interesting. So rooting it might have something to do with battery draining so fast? I'll have to try to wipe, reflash stock, and test it out. Appreciate the input!
I have not rooted my TN7( 4.4.2 ), I use BSPlayer for videos and music and my battery shows 1% drop after playing MP3s at full volume for 8-10 minutes. That's very impresssive battery life. I use "Balanced" setting from "Settings" app. May be, you are having battery issue because you might have rooted using chinese method and that installs some chinese apps.
MC4 runs without lags on my TN7 with "Balanced" setting and about 3.5 hours of battery life. I will check what happens after changing to "Performance" setting.

I did not experience any "impressive graphics" when playing Shadowgun THD. What was you experience? (RR3 looks very good, mirroring on the surface of cars, shadows) ...

I've rerooted it from scratch and the battery lasts much longer. The only chinese app I had was some input keyboard one that I immediately deleted with clean master so I wasn't worried about it. I unfortunately have not tried shadowgun THD so I can't say what my experience is, but man. RR3 does look AMAZING.
Mines totally stock bar the google home laucher
I think it is pretty awful
1% every 1.5 minutes just surfing and YouTube
When running root w/ stock 4.4.2-2.1 and power saving mode w/ auto backlight, I get around 6-8 hours of use - I don't game though.
Just picked up the evga version, did all the updates to 4.4.2, battery is just draining like crazy, unit is quite warm to the touch constantly. Topped off out of the box, did the updates, was at 92%. Stepped out with friends and took it with me. It was sleeping the majority of the time, took a couple of test pictures to see AOHDR in effect. No wifi connection. 6pm to 9pm when i got home, battery was at 8% installed a couple of apps, in about 15 minutes was at 4% with the critical warning. Went ahead and charged it up all night. Been off the charger about 40 minutes, im at 75%. This can't be right, nothing near what you guys have reported. battery indicator is that screen on is the biggest drain. Im rooted, stock recovery, SD write fix applied. If i have to do a wipe, ill do it, but i've only installed bgee, sketchbook, cal, coursera, and a bunch of updates. No chance of 10 hours web like the reviews state, no chance of 10 hours of even idle running! Im using the balanced power mode, prism on, auto dimming.

Got Evga, after the 4.4.2 the battery started to drain at aprox. 1% per minute even with the screen off, Seems to be a bug of 4.4.2, maybe the latest update shall fix that. Anyway, personally I won't know it for a long time since I bricked mine while trying to go back to 4.3 and escape from battery drain Also, if anyone could do me a favour and backup the system from cwm, I'd be really happy)
Try deleting the "batterystats.bin" file and then switch off, charge, then power on after complete charging.
I think those who are reporting battery problem, all have rooted, thank god I have not rooted till now!! I can play 720p movies from my shared windows folders over wifi with fair signal strength for about 9 hrs. Still while playing Asphalt 8, battery lasts only for 2.5 hours. I have all the default settings, not changed anything. ( Xolo Play Tegra Note )

Where is this file ?
Battery life is great for me! I took out of the box, turned a few things off, but it's wonderful. I use Nova Prime launcher. Not sure if that's helping.

Low SOT but sleeping perfectly

Hello all,
I've had my 6P since launch, and I've tried everything lately but my SOT has been poor (1h-1h30).
I've tried MM unrooted, Nougat unrooted, MM with Greenify, MM with Greenify and Amplify.
Basically the phone is rarely awake with screen off, but when the screen is on the battery just drains very quickly. I'm sure there's nothing keeping it awake, it just seems that the battery is "wasted" when I'm using it.
I installed ElementalX kernel to test, but that didn't seem to make a difference.
Any thoughts?
Thanks a lot!

That is really low for sure. Is your screen brightness cranked up? Playing a lot of games or cpu intensive apps?
Install betterbatterystats or gsam battery monitor to see what is draining the battery. If using gsam, ignore high usage of mediaserver unless it also shows high usage in your stock battery stats as well.
I believe ElementalX kernel is basically the stock kernel, but allows you to make more changes than stock with it's companion app, Ex Kernel Manager. I'd try Ninja kernel or Franco kernel instead.
If no apps show abnormally high usage with battery monitors it could be time for a battery replacement. They are only about $25 if you're comfortable opening it up.
That's odd I had same issue my thoughts are possible virus something that would turn off encryption.
Everytime I turned off my phone when it powered on it wouldn't ask for password after clean install it would for a few days but now with naugut and on a new wifi that haven't seen me before was able to get factory reset and be fine and my battery has gone from lasting barley 12 hrs with screen mostly off to having around 55 left at 10 hrs
right now I'm at 69% for 9 hrs have 22 hrs left.
Also check your top apps for use Microsoft office for Android was really killing my battery also.
