My phone is lock. 5 times password attempt fails. help - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As i was charging my phone my 6 years old daughter played the lock pattern. i was not aware of it that she was playing it and now i can't unlock my phone coz it needs a callback. and what confused me is that it requires a CAR & A COMPANY NAME which i dont have any idea what to provide on the box. i can't even do a hard reset coz when i click on home + volume down the only option is RESTART, HIBERNATE, POWER OFF, AIRPLANE MODE & MOBILE NETWORK..now im stuck and i dont know what to do..advice is much appreciated.

Pull the battery and do factory reset. And it should ask for an email address and password

If you have ADB knowledge you can use it to remove the pass lock
Code:
adb -d shell # sqlite3 data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db sqlite> update system set value=0 where name='lock_pattern_autolock'; sqlite> .exit # exit > adb reboot

Yes! Now I don't have to check for unlock codes/patterns before I steal phones. Thanks Nic!

I used an old trick back when I had a myTouch 3g, you can try it out but I don't know if it still works on the 4g.
Use another phone to call your Android. Answer the phone and push the "home" button followed by the "menu" button without hanging up. Sometimes, this combination will open the phone's settings so that you can disable the pattern lock.

[Q] How to make "Enable QXDM sd log" work on My touch 4g

Hi All:
I got the "enable Qxdm sd log " working on nexsus S.
Basically i enabled it using "fastboot oem enableqxdm 1 " and then dialing *#3646#*#*
But when i try the same procedure on the My touch 4g , it doesnot work.
Am i missing something.
Any help will be appreciated. I am really desperate to get this working.
Thank you,

You guys do realize there's an app for this so you don't have to be typing secrets codes on your dial pad all the time. Its called phone info. Its in the market. Brings up the same settings.

Sorry I meant #*#*4636*#*# .. I can enter the phone info mode. My question is when i press the Enable QXDM sd log button, nothing happens.
Why doesn't it work.
Don't know, doesn't work on mine either, but what's QXDM log anyway?
Edit
The QXDM SD log is quite promising. QXDM is the Qualcomm eXtensible Diagnostic Monitor, which as far as I can tell can read this log to provide more detailed information about the performance of the radios

We had a thread posted about this a while back, but the OP needed to take it down.
Basically, the kernel needs to support it. Try it with the newer CM7 nightlies or rc4 I THINK they enabled it. If not, you'll need to build the cm kernel from source and enable it in the config.

Disable slide to unlock ?!

Is there any way to disable the slide to unlock feature and just have the pattern unlock ?
Also in this boat, searching leads to several threads like this
Yes you need to uncheck the auto launch of the play app.
I don't recall where I seen it.
I'll post when I find it.
Open the play app, push the menu button and select settings.
Then uncheck auto start.
Forget what I said.
I thout you meant when you slid the screen and not the slide bar on the screen.
There is no way that I have found.

That's where we go to set the pattern unlock, what we want to know is how to remove the slide to unlock that comes up before the pattern unlock
This needs a bump, so here it is. I'm in this boat all of a sudden because my employer enforces an entry code for devices for a corporate account. I'm getting really unhappy having to slide, enter pin every time !
Try the app "antilock"
Its free on the market and does exactly what you want, I believe. I use it myself so I don't need to slide twice as I use widgetlocker
Hope this helps!
works like a charm!

Mine too, It started flickering like mad and asked me for the code over and over.

increase nexus s 3g with evo hack EDIT MSL WORKS

Get your mal code cal sprint dial *#*#3282#*#* for nexus s only
Edit enter..code go to other multimedia and change proxy addresses to 0.0.0.0
Change all ports to "0"
Exit out try 3g worked on my.evo and my.nexus s 4g
Get msl by calling sprint..kindly say you need your msl code to reset your antenna keys have your dec ready found under battery
If you're rooted you can do this with AdFree Android as well.
What does "Get your mal code cal sprint" mean?

It's kind of like a password to your phone that sprint uses (not the best analogy, I know). You can use the sprint web chat to ask for it (and its msl code, his keyboard probably autocorrected it )

Yeah I work at sprint. I'm pretty sure the msl is just used to authenticate your phone in a shorter way (esn dec has like ten characters and the hex has less but it has letters). I use it to manually program phones to the network when it doesn't take over the air or if its just an older phone.I guess I would say its like a virtual Sim card.the network uses it to communicate with the phone

I was able to find the MSL without calling or using the MSL app.
I did an alteration to the following instructions, and was able to retrieve it after a couple attempts.
http://androidforums.com/htc-hero-sprint/117401-guide-easy-way-get-msl-without-calling-sprint-using-cmda-workshop.html
I tweaked the instruction a little bit by presenting the msl input screen before returning to alogcat.
Instructions I used:
Fresh boot phone and await all apps/things (scripts, widgets, and misc) to load.
Launch alogcat
Clear out the log by pressing menu button and then select "clear"
Go to your dialer and enter ##DATA# or ##3282# which will bring up the DATA menu
Once the menu pops up just select "View" mode
At this point you will see a screen with 6 selections. Select "others".
Then select "work mode".
Attempt to input a random msl code. I used "000000". Of course it is incorrect. I then clicked cancel and then returned to the previous menu (work mode).
From here either press and hold the Home Key and select aLogcat if you ran it before, go to your tray and run Logcat.
After opening Logcat it will update, once it finishes press "Menu" and "Pause" the log.
Then scroll until you see a group of entries labeled "I/MSL_Checker" which should be green.
Locate the line that has "MSL result : " at the end of it (Or press Menu and Filter "MSL" )
And there you have it, your 6-digit MSL code without ever calling sprint or using a computer.

MSL (Master Subsidy Lock) code has nothing to do with activating a phone. MSL is a password that is needed to change settings in the EPST menu. These settings are password protected to protect an end user from changing settings that will cause the phone to not work correctly.

Try reflashing the rom, preferrably a newly downloaded version in case errors crept in there, then try it before restoring any data / apps or even linking your google account. Yours is the first complaint i've seen of this type.

And that's all, we've increased the value and this survives even a reboot.

immersive mode - active edge (and remapping) still works on lockscreen

Thought this might help some people get a little extra use out of a Pixel 2 feature: I'm using Custom Quick Settings to hide the nav bar and of course active edge stopped working, but I noticed it still functioned on the lockscreen. Squeeze-launching the assistant from the lockscreen is pointless to me because I still have to fingerprint- or pattern-unlock my phone before it will tell me anything, but I installed Button Mapper and although there's some warning in its description about not working while the phone is off, it does actually detect squeezes on both the ambient display screen and lockscreen.
I now have squeeze set up to toggle flashlight, since that's something I almost always need to do when the phone is locked and toggling it through quick settings is kind of annoying. This way I don't even have to look at the screen. But the point of this post is, if there's any task you want to be able to trigger while your phone is off, you can use squeeze to do that even if you have full-time immersive mode on.

"Script" was the wrong word to use. When I toggle the "Customize" button to attempt to use Active Edge in the app Button Mapper, it tells me to use my PC and adb to execute this command:
Code:
adb shell sh /data/data/ flar2.homebutton/keyevent.sh
When I attempt to do so, I get "Permission Denied."
I've used adb to allow the Custom Navigation Bar app to make changes and it works just fine with that app.

Okay, I think I figured it out. I went into application settings and went into the button mapper permissions and gave it permission for all three. I don't see why that would have to be the case, but after doing that I tried putting in the ADB command again and it worked. Now I have active Edge to turn on and off the flashlight. Sweet!

Thanks, that worked.
I can confirm that this does work with phone in lock screen as well. It also works with the phone unlocked.
This works great. Love it!
Ok, figured it out too. I'm averse to allowing Google to follow my everything, so I hesitated at the location tracking permissions needed for Google Assistant, but once I followed through, it finally worked.
