Hello I downloaded the latest version of wifi tether and I got the verizon block that also comes up when one tries to use the phones built in wifi hotspot app. Any ideas? I have rooted the phone and confirmed it.

Try setting the device profile to droid x.

Hey thank you for responding. Ok so I did change the device profile and it worked for two seconds and then verizon's blocking website came up in my browser. Do you by chance know What the latest version of wifi tether is? Thank you.

Is it possible to make the droid 2 a wifi hotspot without rooting it. There are a few apps in the marketplace that are free, but will i get charged my verizon for using them?
There is a Mobile 3G Hotspot app included on stock D2, but you will be charged extra for using it. The free Wireless Tether app requires root.

Is this the same quacker?
Yes sir!

The marketplace has a tether app, not by verizon, just some custom app....would i be charged for using this?
Look up 'easy tether' or 'pdanet' on the market. Neither require root and both are free.

Also I am using the Rom that was originally on the phone do you think it has something to do with being a Android 2.2 Rom from Sprint?

You need a boost mobile rom

So I just flashed samsung's latest Ics rom. (I have a US Galaxy Tab 10) And for some strange reason, I am not able to connect to my 5ghz wifi connection, its not even displayed on the wifi section.
Any one else have this problem?
Any solutions?
You need to modify the WiFi files in /system/etc/wifi to have it work with 5GHz. I'll post the exact change when I get back to my computer.

Thanks, works like a charm. :victory:
Has anyone found a workaround to this? Someone from the T-Mobile community said they had to use an international rom and fix their apn settings
