[Q][SOLVED] Bricked ZTE Libra - Blade General

Hi! I have a bricked ZTE Libra (Sapo A5 in Portugal) and no mather how much I search for solutions I only seem to make things worse, so I was hoping someone here could help me.
Things started to go wrong after flashing a CyanogenMod rom. Everything worked except two things: I couldn't use anything that required my SIM card (so no phone or messaging) and I could not access the recovery screen (clockworkmod).
Without the recovery screen, I turned to ROM Manager but since it uses clockworkmod to do its work it didn't help.
Then I started trying other ways to recover my phone, until I tried ADB which allowed me a shell in my android. But then I broke it all by doing "wipe system" which cleaned my system of everything that was still working and left me with an expensive brick.
Now all I can do is boot until I see the green droid. If I don't press the volume buttons it goes into "device" mode and I can see it listed under "adb devices" but have no idea what to do with it.
If I press the volume button down to go into recovery mode it keeps flashing but never really goes anywhere.
If I press it up to go into the bootloader it stays the same and the only thing I can use to tell me something is different than the normal mode is that lsusb reports the vendor as "Google Inc." instead of what it reports in normal mode: "ONDA Communication S.p.A.".
With this I'm not even sure if I can get to the bootloader or not, but even if that is the bootloader, I have no idea what to do with it that might help me recover my phone.
By the way, I'm trying all this on Linux, although I could try solutions in Windows if required.
Can anyone tell me what can I do in this situation?

Ok, maybe my first post wasn't that easy to answer, so I'll make a simpler question to see if someone can help me.
What can be done at my android's bootloader? What is it for and what tools do I need to use to do it?

You could try installing ClockworkMod recovery using wbaw's guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319257 Once that's installed you should be able to flash a new rom with it.

In bootloader mode you can flash a new kernel or recovery image using fastboot.
If you follow that guide that I wrote & Amphoras linked to then you should be able to get a working clockworkmod installed and then you can use that to flash a working rom, or restore a backup.

Thank you both, I'll try what you said as soon as I can and then I'll let you know if it worked!

Ladies and gentleman, today a miracle happened, my ZTE came back from the dead!
Apparently the problem was that I installed some GEN2 applications on my GEN1 model.
I found this while reading the tutorial you suggested, after which I upgraded my ZTE to GEN2 which allowed me to slowly recover everything else.
So, I have to say, thank you very much, and I hope I won't need your help again anytime soon! xD

asus tf300t bricked

kinda of a new at this. basically my tablet boots with asus logo and top left says "the device is UnLocked"
tried to flash cyanogen mod and put some wrong files.
i know its bricked but cant do much. Vol- + Pwr doesnt get me anywher
Vol+ + Pwr makes some recognition on my computer but cant do much. like fastboot wont recognize as a device.
pls help\
UPDATE: Got it to go in APX mode. and got drivers installed. dont know whats next...
thanks in advance
Few questions first... (I am an Android n00b, but have had issues and flashed custom ROMs about 9 times now.)
Did you make sure to see if the device was properly detected in your OS of choice beforehand? Installed all the software to do so?
Did you install either CWM or TWRP to the device?
Make a recovery in case of issue?
I followed the topic (in this very forum) about flashing. I had some issues being new and all, but got it right... BEFORE I did an actual flash.
[GUIDE] TF300T Unlock/Root/Flash for Factory JB Devices (newbie friendly)
I am using the latest TWRP instead of the guides CWM advice. Due to CWM failing to create a backup for me. I felt not having a backup plan, was something similar to going to a redlight district without a rubber. Which means... What if something goes wrong, how will I fix it?
Does the device detect? Can you move files to the device from your computer?

Hey there, just curious as to how you managed to 'put some wrong files', what exactly did you do to achieve this?
If you can still get into recovery and you have fastboot hooked up, you can proceed to either:
re-flash the correct CWM version if your recovery is broken, or
upload the CyanogenMod package you want to install to your device and simply wipe & flash!
I don't recommend installing last week's nightlies, rotation is still broken. Not sure as to what version last worked.
Good luck!

So here is what happened. Basically i tried flashing files and put it for the wrong tablet. Now i can only get into apx mode and fastboot doesnt recognize it and neither does adb recognize it.

Please help to unnbrick ZTE Blade AF3 (T221)

My ZTE Blade AF3 (T221) can't boot into fastboot nor normal mode (so I could use adb). I can only use recovery mode. I tried to flash the stock firmware through apply update option, but the latest available firmware online is 1.0.4 and the recovery is on 1.0.5 (DIS_RU_QB18D_P731A20V1.0.5). That wouldn't be a problem if the update-script didn't check for the version of the current firmware and abort the installation because it's newer. I tried to delete the checking code from the script, but then the file verification check fails. I didn't find an option to turn that check off and I can't flash a custom recovery due to the lack of fastboot mode.
There is also another mode to which it can go into if I just let it boot without pressing any buttons. The ZTE logo appears, then disappears and the white screen remains. In Device Manager it's identified as "Gadget Serial". I don't know if I could use it somehow.
Is there anything I could do to flash the stock ROM or another recovery to the device?
Thanks for help!
Edit: If someone knows a method to boot into fastboot other than holding down the volume - key and plugging in the USB cable the advice is more than welcome, I just think I tried every kind of button combinations (although I wouldn't have guessed myself the process to go into recovery mode, so there's always the chance).
You already solved it? Maybe i can help you!

Nope, I abandoned it. I even wrote to ZTE support, but they said I should wait for the newer firmware to be uploaded to the site (which I kept checking for a while, but nothing happened, so I eventually stopped). I haven't used that phone since, it now lives in the bottom of a drawer somewhere .
If you have any tips, I can try to make it work, but it's not that important anymore, so don't bother if it's too much work.

Damaged recovery, unable to ADB debugging, bootloop

[HELP] [URGENT]
//this is the story, skip if you prefer
so i was updating my cm 12.1 rom to rr 7.1 rom
everything was fine, no real mess just bad flash so i decided to reflash the rom (dunno why i did that actually, its just my tradition). Aaaaand the ROM went flawlessly
next step is install supersu, i checked that the rom is pre-rooted so i think its easier to get supersu via playstore. Installing supersu went flawlessly (again) and i rebooted ma phone.
//then everything starts to f***ed up
my phone bootlooped (not a big deal actually, done with this sh** all the time)
like a casual day, reflash my phone. but i cant go to recovery mode its stuck at logo i think that supersu binary damaged ma recovery.img (again not a big deal but i started to worry) i connect my phone to my pc, summon my adb, and hope the best, but my devices not listed there. then i remembered i forgot to turn on usb debugging on setting oh crap!
so here is my question:
is it possible to turn on usb debugging via pc or something else? if so how.
is it possible to use adb feature without my phone being turned on its usb debugging?
is it possible to repair my recovery <== i mean reflash beside using adb. if so how :crying:
and the last one, beside my phone not listed on adb device list. it wont showed or recognized in my pc (do i need something else beside usb and adb driver?)
any help will be appreciated :good:
this is my only phone so i put my hands on you guys, you're the superhero here
if i dont have any solution, my only way is send this phone to service centre :crying:
some info:
devices : lenovo a6k plus
old rom : cm 12.1 by ED300
new rom: rr nougat v5.8.0 (i dont remember who made this rom, sorry. by the way i found the rom somewhere in xda)
supersu ver: newest per 21 Feb 2k17 (playstore)
my pc: win 8 64x <== dunno if this info useful though
old recovey: twrp (forget the version, but im pretty sure the recovery made by russian developer and it has chicken logo during startup)
battery level when i discovered i cant go to recovery mode: somewhat near 16% <== maybe helpful
if you really care to help me just tell me what do you know, i would appreciate that really, i meant that because this phone is the only way i can contact all of my super important buddy for my business.
Thanks anyway, regards Tom
Well take out the battery and return it hold volum down + power button now you should be able to use fastboot commands go to the folder where you have your adb and fastboot there paste a recovery img file you want to use.Open cmd and type fastboot flash recovery nameofyourimg.img
And now you should be able to use recovery. If not try qfil debricking method that you can find on forum.Best of luck if somthing isnt clear enough feel free to PM me.Also download new recoveries that are now officialy developed
Thanks for replying JovanSijacki
unfortunate enough, i have done that and still dope and nope.
usually i can find my device in windows device manager named android with yellow triangle, but this one is different, my computer wont recognize my phone.
will try debricking method instead, thank you dude
Thank you for those who care to reply, friend of mine who are expert developer told me how to fix this. AS LONG AS YOU ABLE TO GET INTO FASTBOOT MODE YOU ARE SAFE. Im going to make separate thread to share the tutorial *insert smiley emoji*

Soft Brick, A2017G, Bootloader unlocked, Stock Recovery

(or is it hard brick)
Hi,
A2017G
Started with marshmallow,
Unlocked bootloader
attempted to install Slim7
seemed to work but with some possible errors, (wouldn't sync with google... retrospect I should have looked elsewhere before...)
attempted in install stock rom
using
ZTE_A2017GV1.2.0B04_BootStack_by_tron1.zip
ZTE_A2017GV1.2.0B04_Stock_System_by_tron1.zip
which wouldn't boot
So I tried reinstall Slim7
then stock again,
then, like the noob that I am, I removed twrp with
ZTE_A2017GV1.2.0B04_Full_Stock_Reverter_by_tron1.zip
which installs stock recovery
so, now I have a stock rom that won't boot,
an unlocked bootloader
and stock recovery
Not sure what to do from here
thanks in advance for any assistance.
I can abd sideload and update from SD card, but everything I have fails signature verification.
edit: so frustrating trying to find that 1 zip

Just use MiFlash, that one's guaranteed to work. Read my DFU unbrick guide to know how to use it. Just skip the part where you have to disassemble the phone, since you can get to EDL mode by (with the phone off and the USB cable connected to the PC) holding both volume buttons and inserting the USB-C cable to the phone.
I did read your guide, was, hoping to avoid dismantling it...
I tried pressing all 3 buttons.
Am I understanding the procedure correctly:
[phone switched off] + usb-C cable connected to PC only
MiFlash running at this point??
Hold both volume keys in and in insert Cable to Phone
at this point is the phone supposed to switch on?
At no point am I supposed to press the power button?
fyi: I will try different combinations, is great to have a solution, thank you.
Ah.... ok... so, the phone will display nothing, rely on the sound of PC and/or the device manager check and/or hit refresh on miflash
Fyi to anyone, if you have axon7toolkit installed and thus can't install a second version of MiFlash, open up the toolkit and hit 7 (unlock bootloader) to fire up MiFlash... or just go to C:\XiaoMi\XiaoMiFlash
the FULL_EDL file I have produces a couldn't find script Error when loading into MiFlash
so far when attempting to flash all zips
I have started MiFlash with admin
unzipped FULL_EDL file to a folder in root C:\ and ensured there are no spaces in address.
Every time / Every file produces couldn't find script error when loaded into MiFlash
when I attempt to flash the file it says cannot receive hello packet and then times out with an error
Tried disabling anti-virus/firewall, still same error
upgraded MiFlash to 2017.4.24.0 ( older 2016 is included with axon7toolkit), this removes the couldn't find script error, but still not receiving a hello packet, gunna fiddle with the phone as I'm pretty sure the error is coming from there
YES!
rebooted phone, turned off, restarted into EDL, flashed the stock rom from zte site... is in chinese... but it works. Thank you Thank you
so adventure over, after all that I am back to 6.0.1...

I got it from here: http://www.ztedevice.com/support
selected:- United Kingdom > Mobile Phone > Axon 7
it offers a file "AXON 7(ZTE A2017G) SD card software package(328540B2634ZTE A2017GV1.0.0B11)"
which hints at being compatible with A2017G... but is A2017V and is chinese, although you can change the language in settings there is still plenty here and there, plus chinese bloatware
and No, I didn't get cell signal.
I've gone back to Marshmellow, I will try again, didn't think it would be so different/difficult... Although wow at MiFlash.
FFS!!!! Relocked bootloader and bricked it!!! there should be a warning!
you gotta laugh,
I am a bit livid, I know the guides come with disclaimers, however, you'd think it would be an obvious important warning to make... DO NOT RELOCK YOUR PHONE.

I do think there should be warnings as it is too easy a mistake to make... lmao stop doing dumb stuff you start first
My phone is insured so I'm not overly fussed, but others will be less fortunate.

Unable to hack Asus Zenfone Laser 2 [ZE550KL - Z00L - Z00LD]

Hi to all.
I landed on XDA because I am not able to hack my Asus Zenfone Laser 2 dual-sim (ZE550KL, which seems to be also called as Z00L or Z00LD... I don't know why... ?!? ). Actually I'm very new on smartphone hacking, so I did my best recently to understand what "rooting", "recovery", "brick" etc mean.
I tried to enter this world because my phone gets gradually very slow as I use it and so I supposed that erasing the pre-installed applications and overclocking it would help, possibly installing a lighter and more performing custom rom. In order to do this I read that in short I have to unlock the boot loader, root the phone and then eventually install a custom rom. In fact I suppose that getting root privileges should already do the job by keeping the original rom, unistall all unwanted apps and eventually overclocking it. Is that correct?
However, the problems I found on my way are the following two:
I've not been able to follow those procedures on Linux. In detail, I'm not able to use "fastboot boot" instruction because it gets stuck on "waiting for any device". The device is listed and allowed when running "adb devices", the boot had been unlocked previously, the phone is in debug mode etc... but the problem is still there despite I've been trying with both the adb package included in the repositries and the one downloaded from the related google page. I've been told it may be a matter of USB drivers, so I also installed the android studio package thinking it would help, but I was wrong. I'm quite confused on this, despite I do hope I can hack my phone using my favourite operating system (I'm a Linux user since 2006). If you do not feel like helping on this then I will try on Windows.
After trying the same procedures on Windows 10, I realised that the Android Usb drivers released by Google did not work. I had to install the proprietary ASUS USB Drivers from the official website and only then I was able to overcome on Windows the same "waiting for any device" I had experienced on Linux. However, the phone "bricks". I suppose this should be the technical term used in this field to tell that the phone gets stuck for hours on the boot animation. I tried several times to reboot it, but each time the same story.
Maybe the problem on Linux is that I do not have the proper Android Device Usb drivers installed. In this case, how to solve the problem taking into account that ASUS only released the drivers for Windows?
RECAP: I have my phone bricked now (Android is unable to reboot, but I can do access both to the Power+VolumeUP menu (by the way, what's the name of this menu? Fast boot?) and the Power+VolumeDOWN menu (by the way, what's the name of this menu? Recovery boot?)
So sorry for the long story.
Hope you can help.
Thanks for your attention and best regards.
Uhm... no replies till now?
i dont know how you get this kind of trouble, maybe try other computer? , im using wondows 10, download small package of of fastboot driver and adb driver, flash twrp using fastboot command. all done. then i make full backup using twrp, next flash magisk .now i have root access, any problem or bootloop i just restore the full backup that work.
---------- Post added at 04:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:22 PM ----------
i see a lot of this zen2 laser got bricked on this general forum , you should read some more if that could help
When I had this device, I remember booting a temporary recovery TWRP and rooted it in that recovery. Then once I got rooted, I installed TWRP app and installed a permanent recovery from within the TWRP app, which needed root of course. Then I got everything working.
You can try booting on a temporary TWRP using fastboot then flash supersu or magisk or whatever rooting client you want. Though, I think you need an unlocked bootloader. I'm sure there's a guide around here somewhere
I'm using a Z00T and just installed LineageOS yesterday using Windows 10, following a guide by Android Authority and LineageOS.
Volume Up + Power = Fastboot
Volume Down + Power = Recovery
Sounds like you can get into Fastboot, so I'm wondering if maybe you can use it to flash the recovery image??? (I'm not a dev in any form; try this at own risk)
I'm assuming you unlocked the bootloader already...
In the directory where all your images are, perhaps try flashing the recovery with the following, where RECOVERY.img is whatever you may have renamed the TWRP image to be:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.img
After it's finished flashing, turn off the phone, then reboot into recovery mode with Volume Down + Power.
Something Similar happened with my phone and looking for answer
Hi All,
I'm new to this but do some hands on reading these forums. Recently i don't know how but my phone continuously boot into Fast-Boot mode. If I try to push some zip file as mentioned i'm getting error related to partition. "failed to write partition."
Can someone help me out with this.
Thank in advance.

I'm using Z00T and Windows 10. Had no issues using the Android Authority and LineageOS guides.
These guides are great but I don't want to lose my data by formatting my bootlooping device, and the drivers asus gives do not work with windows 10, the adb drivers work fine but the asus drivers do not.
