Hi,
I'm trying to update my rom using ODIN but my phone is not being recognized when its on recovery mode.
It is working fine when it's powered on normally.
Im running on Creed v2.1
Please help.
Boot in Download Mode not in Recovery Mode.

Guys I am new to this forum and don't know how to start a new thread but i need an urgent solution!
First of all i am using Galaxy Y S5360, and using crees's rom v2.1 and today i did a factory reset and from then i am stuck at boot animation and recovery mode not working it's automatically rebooting & i can't flash it through ODIN!

To flash in odin u need to be in download mode
Press and hold home+vol down+power..then it will prompt u to proceed to download mode, vol up for yes..odin will recognise it
Guys, need sum advce on what wil i do,. Im planning to change my sd card from 4gb to 8gb but my doubt is, how wl it be done c0z i already rootd my phone, im realy confuse on how wl it be done, and im using n0w c0stume rom and apps 4 bter per4mance.

root will stay root even if you change SD card,
hmm insert new Sd and format it with ur phone, then use a card reader and copy everything in old SD even hidden files, and the copy to newly formatted SD..thats it
And please post creed related issues in the sticky!

I recently found the phone numbers in contacts being displayed like 123-456-789. Previously it was being displayed without "-". I tried to change the locale & regional settings but it didn't work ! Why is it so ? Now After I factory resetted the phone & selected locale & English (US), though this problem got sorted out. I am facing two new problems. My Android market does not update itself !!!!!!!!! & the progress of the ongoing downloads does not show/appears blank. I am very worried. plzz tell me what to do !! i am using stock 2.1 V20c (India) ROM in my rooted gt540. Previously I never had any issues with my phone. Plzz help it's urgent. I have tried to master reset my phn 5 times hoping the problem wud get solved but it didn't.
New problem- new downloads take a lot of time to start after they have been queued for download
well... I`am not sure if this will help....but i had some issues with market not updating itsef and displaying wrong letters in system...so i formated my system, boot, data and cache partition through clockworkmod recovery and then restored from backup, after that everything worked fine...now, I assume you don`t have a backup, or clockworkmod recovery....or do you??
No.. I dnt hav a backup. Recently when I rooted my phone I deleted everything in the system cache folder and also removed some built in apps like SNS,layar,task killer, vid editor and wapedia thinking this wud free up internal memory. I think that is where the prob originated. Now tell me wat to do...

I would reinstall the operating system (and i suggest you to do that)....first install rom manager from market.. if you can..then while still conected to internet install clockworkmod recovery (you`ll see an optyion in rom manager) when you do that..try to boot into recovery by presing power button (first shutdown your phone.....) and home button, when it turns on(holding) if you get something new...a menu, that`s recovery... now go and make a backup of you existing system....that way even if you make some bad choices you can always get your system back.........from this point you can put any ROM you like.... just download wanted ROM put it on the root(outside of any folder) of your sdcard ond go into recovery and choose instal from .zip.........I don`t have the time to search the stock 2.1 ROM v20c for you to install...you could try google
EDIT: here you can find all ROM-s, even a backup of 2.1
@ssik -- thanku so much 4 d detailed info..buddy.. as far as the complete list of original stock ROM's link goes... I already hav the link.. so u didn't hav to search it 4 me...anyways since u hav already done..thanx a lot..i owe u a lot 4 dat. so dont get disgusted..since I am new to this modding thing I feel frightened to hav my phn bricked while flashing...so I was asking 4 any othr alternative.
How to select my device in rom manager ? Since gt540 is not present in device list ? Does my phn's firmware needs to be fastboot enabled so that I can install clockwork ?

you welcome @sujitmohanty .....while in a rom manager (conected to internet aswel) just press flash clockworkmod recovery, wait till its finished and then try to boot into recovery mod as described, if that doesn`t work then we`ll do something else.... let me know if it works... and ask for any help you need... I was also as frightened as you in my beginnings )

The guy above is telling you BS. You cannot flash clockwork on our device through ROM manager. It must be flashed in fastboot.

@jack.. can u pls explain how to flash using fastboot since I am using neither carphoneware house nor european rom which r fastboot roms..I am using v20c india rom. Rnt thr any othr procedures to install clockwork without fastboot?

I think there is but it is untested and only just my theory.
Also, it doesn't matter what fastboot rom you flash, they all work the same, regardless of country etc

well it worked for me..belived it or not
he could also use a program on the market called yaffsexpert with the recovery_clockwork_2.5.1.8_swift.img ----> ***.mediafire.com/?sax544hf3cye3gx (www insted of ***)
on root his sdcard.... less risky for him

I tried that but it didn't work for me before lol I've just went for the old fashioned fastboot method Also I was on about the ROM Manager thing because it doesn't support our device.

you were right...should suggested fastboot immediately...
i just tried that too...keep getting 0% done.........then fasboot is the mother of everything

flash_image you mean I remember this method but didn't want to suggest it because I didn't try it on non-fastboot ROMs.

From previous thread i've read, my phone is partially destroyed !

not sure if you've solved this but...
my epic 4g tough is in the same mode and my pc wont detect it as a USB device
therefore i cant flash back to stock.
I learned from a tech guy at a cell shop near my house that if you put the stock tar file on an sd card and name it 'update.zip'
the phone will automatically recover using it.
Im preparing my sd card now and I'll post my results.
I don't get what if ur saying but if u can't use USB then useobile Odin to flash cf root and then u have cwm recovery

1st switch off your phone,then start your phone by pressing volume down+menu+power buttons. if your phone shows a warning then relax. you can still flash your firmware via odin mode.
chose your firmware from docky73 thread here forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465800 in that thread u will found how to flash via odin.

Its kernel problem flash only kernel restore ur nandroid backup if u created......or flash stock firmware ........ Check dev section sticky thread....... :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Read My Post .... First flash kernel ..if u created nandroid backup ..restore it.... :good::good:
Thats why reads the instructions carefully
Boot to cwm
Do data wipe and cache
Then flash the rom.zip
Wait till it done (dont reboot)
Choose advanced
Then reboot recovery
Do data wipe and cache again in this stock recovery
Reboot system
Wait till it boot first boot need time

if u can't go to download mode,than it is a Hard Brick. you should go to a nearest Samsung customer care or any good servicing center. you can't do nothing to fix your gy,just let them to fix it.

Here the solutions for noobs
Turn on odin mode(pc)
Pull out the baterry from the phone
Connect the phone to pc without baterry then press home,power,vol- (download mode)its calls usb jig mode then when u enter download mode dont even pull the usb just place the baterry and u are good to flash it?!!!!be cool as the owner of the rom thats my responsibility to help user

my also stuck like that but solution i did was (if want to install u.s.s.r v5):
go cwm
wipe catch and data
choose install from zip
choose u.s.s.r v5_evan.zip
after installation dont reboot
go in advance
select reboot recovery
than in stock recovery, wipe data and wipe cache
phone will turn on in u.s.s.r v 5 rom

hey bro,removed the sd card and the sim from your galaxy y.try if u can go to odin mode.if the odin mode appears flashed it thru odin with stockrom.

First download CWM.
Place it in the root your sd card
Reboot to recovery by pressing Vol.Up+Home button+Power button
Once u are in recovery mode,apply update frm sd card
Select CWM.zip
Once you are in CWM,go to backup and restore » backup and then it'll backup ur stock rom.
Note: Be sure you have atleast 500 MB free space on ur sd card.
