As the title states above I have purchased myself a Motorola photon and am moving to their forums. But I promise to visit the forums to help out this forum if needed. But I am going to a deserving device, one that could really use dev if you ever want to venture out of here. But happy new years and let us ring in 2012 as best we can!

Sounds.. The only way he's going to learn is by reading it.. If he doesn't the next thread he makes will be named "HALP!! I BRICKED MY 7!"...

Was looking for some help, I have spent some time reading.I just wanted some help with the best direction
Too go with. Instead I get flamed.I thought we as a community would be better than this.it would be easier just to say

People like you makes someone experience in a area which they don't have knowledge in terrible.
If your logic made sense there wouldn't be school.

Ok buddy.. All I'm saying is if he took the time he used to make this thread to read stickies, root guides and the q&a section he would be more prepared to mess around with his device with less risk of breaking it.
There is enough good threads with good knowledge that if he spent time in looking would be fine

Guys Come On... he's a noob. Cut him some slack, even though must of us have common sense to do some homework (research) before posting questions like that doesn't mean we have to bully him. Hulk just do some more research and if you find a topic that you don't understand, then post stating what your not understanding.
no clue
no clue, you have no clues
Read / research / read / research
BTW what's good for me not necessarily will be good for you too.

Welcome to the n7 forum, and boy what a welcome...... Unless you are comfortable with sending commands via adb use one of the root kits, they offer more than just rooting.
Not to many roms or mods to choose from, but everybody has that there on taste.
Like offers have said search and read, then ask in those threads if unsure.

When I just got my amaze 4G, I read and followed instructions and still messed up my phone.
Thanks to the member dark nightmare for ‘spoon feeding‘ me step by step and got my phone back to perfection.
That dude is awesome.

wow, what a messed up welcome. this IS the Q&A section. We all have been new, most of us has messed up, even following directions.
So, Did your N7 arrive yet?
CleanRom is one of my favorites when I feel like running a custom ROM. Im back to 4.2.1 at the moment.
I think WUG's toolkit is pretty easy for a beginner.
If you really want to play though, learn how to use adb. It may be a learning curve for some, but its really easy and fast.
Of course, search is always your friend, but most of us will still be here to help out if you need it!
Enjoy the Nexus, its a blast!
Patience people .he is a virgin !!!!
Welcome to xda Nexus 7 forum and (i guess ) Newbie Target practice Zone.
I think the biggest advice anyone can give you. Is something people do not often say. Before you flash unlock root or change one app on your device. Learn the STEPS TO GO BACK. Make all the necessary backups. Follow all instructions. But only after you understand what they are doing to your device. Read The forums about the different roms . Especially user responses and comments on the different roms.
Most of all Learn your device . Learn recoverys and basic fast-boot and adb..
Backup Backup and know how to use your backup...
NOT TO MENTION BACKUP
again welcome to the fourm and please Backup read re read.. then think before you flash.

He's right. What's good for some may not be good for others. I'll suggest a few things. Keep in mind these are what I prefer:
Mskips Toolkit. I love it. User friendly and easy to navigate even if you're not familiar with rooting. Offers an all in one option (option 8) that unlocks the bootloader, roots, installs busy box, installs your choice of custom recovery, and will recommend the 3.34 boot loader instead of using the built in supplied by Google. 3.34 keeps root more reliably than others for some. Its compatible with all versions, it will buy you dinner, and kiss you goodnight.
Again, my preference but I've had nothing but success with Mskips work.

Hello everyone,
After lurking around XDA for a while, I've decided I'm tired of just flashing ROMs and would like to become more active in learning Android development. In that pursuit I have acquired a second OG EVO for development purposes, and figured helping others will probably help me out as well. So if any devs need a ROM(or anything related) tested, please feel free to PM me. Thanks!

Not too long ago I made this same decision, and I've been learning so much and getting into it: Two people you will want to contact are Wambo_Bomb and Jlmancuso. Both are extremely helpful.
If you want to try to build, there are two really good guides I'd recommend. Also, I would use both of them together, each have details you'll probably want.
Guide 1
Guide 2
Yes sir I can send you some test subjects and always more than willing to help out people wanting to learn.

The developers choice to create a thread. No one else can unless they get permission from them. I've read over at their community that they will create a thread "soon". Don't know when soon is but its just a matter of time until they do so.
