Does anyone know of a way to automatically disable WiFi calling like when I am at work and keeping it active at home? Maybe a way to say if connected to SSID "X" then WiFi calling is enabled. But if connected to SSID "Y" it is disabled...
Thanks,
RA

You could try the tasker app. Seems like something that may be possible.
I will give it a try. Thanks.

I personally haven't had any issues and I'm on TMo UK. Have you tried enabling it both ways? From the wireless settings in the settings menu and from the app in the app drawer?

When I connect, it takes about 5 to 8 minutes until I can get access. Try leaving it connected for a while.
on tmobile uk too and no issues here. start the hotspot, search on the laptop for the wifi name and enter code.
Maybe post the steps you have done so far so people can try and see whats wrong?

Select Hotspot app
Inputed router name and security code WPA(TKIP) 9 letters
Selected checkbox 'Portable Wi-fi Hotspot'
Searched on laptop for router and inputed WPA
Laptop connected
Started internet app like firefox
On phone in the notification area the hotspot '3G' text (not the symbol) keeps dropping after a few mins and reappears
Ok sorted I think there was a problem with the apn I removed user and password entries and all sorted.

We just got a t-mobile no-contract tablet. Randomly while trying to browse via wifi, the t-mobile prepaid screen pops up and we can no longer use the browser.
Anyone else experiencing this and have ideas how to stop it from happening? Is there a way to permanently disable the t-mobile network connection? (we are always connecting via a wifi tether and are not using the tmobile service).
Thanks
Here's a thought...call tmobile...I know what an original idea

Is your tab in airplane mode while you use wifi?

Probably a silly question, but when you say "wifi tether" it sounds like you are tethering to another phone, so are you doing this or are you connecting to a "fixed" WiFi access point? (e.g. your home DSL/cable connection).
Regards,
Dave
Either... Sometimes we are tethering to an access point on our phone, other times it is the wifi at the airport.
No we are not in airplane mode.
Hold the power button in for a few seconds, then choose airplane mode. Then in settings, enable wifi.
From the wireless settings you can uncheck packet data.
I'm trying to find out where my phone stores Wi-Fi networks that I've added. When I turn Wi-Fi on, my Wi-Fi Settings stops responding and I can't do anything on that screen.
If it matters, I'm running CyanogenMod 7.0.0 and faux123's low-voltage kernel version 2.4.8.

i cannot answer your question to where the information is stored... but the only way i've got wi-fi settings to stick is to input the password for the SSID then when it disconnects turn off mobile data then reboot. The phone should connect to the Wi-fi and it will continue to.. a bit a trouble but it's a work around.

Actually, what I want to do is remove some networks that I've previously added manually. I think it's trying to connect to them, which is not possible because those networks were ones I was using while traveling.

brings a different light to the situation. That i cannot answer you.
Bumping because I still haven't found anything on this.
Ok, I couldn't find anything on this..
I just got my mytouch 4g, unrooted. I opened up the wifi hotspot, and on my computer I clicked connect. It connected, but I have no internet connectivity. (That's what it says) I get the little error sign next to the wifi signal bars on my Windows 7 laptop. Just two days ago I was using a mytouch slide hotspot and it worked fine. How can I fix this!?

Give you are connected to the correct SSID and you've entered the password correctly.
either root the phone or buy the tethering package.
That isn't helping. It connected fine to a myTouch Slide. Anyone else wanna chime in? It connects to the hotspot, but it gets limited internet access.

I don't know what to tell you. EVERYONE else who has tried to use this feature it has worked correctly. So it's either T-Mobile blocking you, you are doing something wrong, or there is something messed up with the Kernel... the only other two things i can suggest is download VISIONary.apk and the Google wi-fi tether code from Here . And temp rooting to wi-fi tether your phone.
or
USE PDA net and a bluetooth dongle.... but you will not be able to access https sites after a trial period.
This had actually happened to me too...
1. Make sure you pwr off phone, power back on. Dont start wifi app.
2. Install useragent add on on your computer browser, change useragent to android or ie mobile or etc...
3. Delete all forms of stored wireless networks from your computer.
4. Turn on phone wifi tethering app, connect manually. Make sure ssid password are correct.
Try that?

Hi all,
My phone's wifi keeps changing the AP to another one that I have connected, these two APs are all in my room, so the signal strength is same. How could I prevent that? I need the access point I deserved, not itself change to another I previously connected.
Thanks!

Not sure what you mean exactly as you seem to have be missing words(or using the wrong word) in your sentences, but I think that you should go to wifi settings, click the one you don't want it to connect to anymore, and hit Forget.
Press on the SSID you don't want and press forget. Keep the one you want connected.
almost the same problem, but in my situation is 2.4/5G band from same AP i want to use 5G but the phone always jump to 2.4G one after some time.

I have a similar question. I have both my university's wi-fi and home wi-fi stored to my phone's memory. The university wi-fi shows still a signal on my flat occassionally and my phone connects to it automatically. Is there a way (without third party app) to tell my phone that I prefer using my home wifi over my university wifi?

An interesting read.
Maomao you can set that to the one you want. In WiFi settings, menu then advanced.
