edit: was a hardware issue. getting a refurb.
Ok I am very confused with this one, for almost a week now I have been getting a repeating "usb connected" notification over and over and ove....
BUT only on CM7, and MIUI, and CM9. Started on Nandroids but also clean installs
NOT on touchwiz roms which makes no sense. even went EC05>EI22>EL30 offically and nothing so I cant take this to sprint even though I have TEP.
I have ODIN'd EC05 twice so I know the USB isnt broken.
Yesterday it went away until my batt went to 33% (was on CM7)?!
I have cleaned my USB port thoroughly as well.
AAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH it drains battery as fast as touchwiz does and slows it down
So yeah any suggestions or ideas are much appreciated TIA
Ok. So my epic can't run an aosp rom great. I cannot recreate this on stock so I am screwed if I try to bring it to sprint with CM7 on it. Damnit I have been running CM7 since october I can't stand touchwiz roms. So no one can help?

Good suggestion it makes it less anoying but I am still getting a full wake lock and its draining my battery. Also it seems to keep taxing the cpu. While on cm7 it says its charging when the phone is compltely off. This is the wierdest issue ever.

Gotcha not just annoying spam but a battery drainer too hmm I wonder if you could disable it altogether through the developer parts or whatever ?
I'm not sure why that happens have you tried redownloading the ROM? It seems as if it was a bad flash if something is spamming you also try another kernel maybe the one in cm7 has something wrong is it a wakelock or a kernel wakelock?

I have used my old nandroid (i make daily ones when updating nightlys) after odining which had samurai. I also did a clean install of CM7 wimax RCO and tried nightly 33. Tried it on MIUI and CM9 from fresh ODINS. I also have been getting crappy battery life on stock EL30 but I cant be sure its a hardware issue. This really sucks its like I have an AOSP blocker on my phone *looks at samsprint* lol

Its either WiFi, Screen on time, or Awake time. You can check it by tapping the graph and if its awake time that's what's eating your battery

Its usually the awake bar if not on wifi then its your cpu staying awake go get battery stats and see what your wakelock is partial or kernel.

I found out if I checked enable usb debugging I could recreate this on a stock Rom I'm sending this from an EVO veiw 4g in the store right now. God they are so stupid they installed juice defender and said it was fixed since I said it is staying awake from thinking a usb cord is plugged in. I just turned usb debugging back on and told them to keep working on it. And to uninstall juice defender.
call customer service and have their android techs run thru their spiel see if they can get it to work the instore techs usually dont know jack been in that same boat if customer service cant fix they will send you a replacement device been in that boat too im on my second epic but this one ive had 0 problems with just make sure you get rid of all signs of root b4 you send it back

Root using Unrevoked... And it depends if you wanna run a sense rom or not? I would perfer Myns RLS5 or CM7 RC1.
for each phone.. it seams to react differently with each.
i think it has to do with phone/ location / use.
you just have to try.. and see which works best for your boy.
you can try the top ROMs:
Mui
Myn
Fresh
CM
then try different Kernels...
there is a lot to choose from too.
me.. I like Myn + Netarchy-Toastmod 4.3.2

For rooting the thread below has a lot of good info about the Evo, for battery life that depends a lot on the ROM & kernel. I highly recommend you do not use a SBC kernel as they charge the battery in a way that every single authority on li-ion batteries tells you not to and can be dangerous.

Honestly, that was minimal usage for me, so I don't usually get that kind of battery life, but it still easily gets me through a day with normal usage.

Hopefully someone an can chime in with more EVO ROM'ing experience than I.
I have an OG Droid and like all phones, each phone is different from the next. one evo can run a rom and kernel setup great, and another evo will be unstable.
same in the droid world.
the one thing is to back up after root using clockwork recovery or similar methods. that way you can just try the next suggested rom and/or kernel.
also, this was true in the droid world. but is it necassary to wipe data when flashing to a different rom? Do you evo guys need to this as well?
anyway. my keyboard is broken. shift, 0, and the c key is getting flakey.

Completely correct. Evo users should backup before flashing another rom or kernel, and always [at a minimum] wipe the cache and dalvik cache. If you get a bunch of force closes or issues [can happen when going sense to aosp or vice versa] a clean wipe might be needed, in which go into the rom, backup all apps and data, then restore only apps and data, not system settings.

Hey Guys,
First off to everyone that has left or is on a leave, thanks for what you did.
Now, I am looking for some POSITIVE news. I did read that Rob decided to stick with an Epic (love that, Rob is awesome). What else is coming down the pipe? Everyone thinks CM7 will never come, I know its getting worked on, I have tried it, and hope that comes through. What is Bonsai or Viper up to? They both do awesome work. Any new devs out there cookin up some goodies?
I guess I am sick of the looking back, and want to know what you all are looking forward to?
This phone rocks! I just got 42 hrs battery life with the ebay 3500 using SFR and the EE03 Modem. I cant upgrade for a while, so I am going to like this phone.
Thanks for reading and, and I am interested to hear what you all are looking forward to.
PS - we know Z-Man the puzzle lock screen. Which I heard is rolling out...
CM7 ...
MidNight
Bonsai....
Thats basically it.
Although i am REALLY looking forward to the Hangover Part II

You know, even though ACS (or ICN) is gone, it doesn't mean this community has depleted. We lost two amazing devs (k0nane and mysteryemotionz), but that should not bring us down! In fact, I bet you if a bunch of the other devs like Rob and Mammon and marcusant, etc. all were to make a new team, I'm sure we could make some pretty sick ROMs. And remember, we still have CM7 in the works by nullghost, DevinXtreme, Dameon, awesome kernels by thomasskull and DRockstar...so just remember, this community still has tons of potential left.

I'm honestly not sure the fate of sr111 120 but as soon as me and jez2cool get more function from our google 2.3.4 build which is the os on the nexus, we will bring everyone in on that and we're trying but I'm a but tied up with the nexus s as well so blame me and the kernel for that delay
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
My two cents - I dont get people and the "oh, what do I do now?" thing. k0nane and Mystery did some great work, but dont leave it up to other people to do the stuff you want done. I spent a lot of time working with a developer learning linux, and how to compile and tweak kernels, because I wanted to make my own(and understand what I was doing). I spent a lot of time chatting with a themer because I wanted to make my own theme. If you want something done, stop waiting for someone else, and get out there and start learning.
so what happened to viper team. the last rom was pretty sick and i really like the viper pad it works very well when you are using the samsung dock and everytime you go to do something else the music would stop playing thur the usb

This is a serious problem for me, and ive seen many others report it
it started with the HK 2.3.4, and i thought the ATandT build would fix it but it hasnt
The battery readings all over the place, it will say 40% left, but if i restart it itll go back to 59% and etc..
I have done a battery callibration, wiped battery stats, all that good stuff, it has not helped.
I flashed 1.8.3 SBF and then went to the ATandT gingerbread (gingerblur), so everying was wiped, but i still have this problem

Considering these builds are likely not at all final, it's probably something they either have fixed on another build, are working on fixing before the beta, or will fix during the beta.
Basically, I think we'll have to wait for the official release unless Kenn can patch a fix into his own rom.
this seems to be a problem after installing the 1% mod. every time i install it it happens no matter how many times i wipe... once i reflahed with beta 4.5 everything works perfect
I had the 1% mod , wish i never did

Motorola isn't going to give 2 hoots about your problems since you flashed a leaked firmware, which wasn't for your specific model anyway!

I had a widget that displayed 1% increment battery levels and that showed the same deal as before. It's not a problem with the mod. All they do is read the system files reporting battery level anyway.
And really Caelan...can't you just ignore the topic if you're just going to post spam?

If you read more carefully, you'll notice it actually is for our specific model
Gingerblur is based on the ATandT 4.5.91
to clear ur confusion, i did have hk and 1% mod in the past. But i then flashed 1.8.3 SBF (which is for at and t atrix)
So right there, all the past is history, im stock.
THEN went to 4.5.91, and still have problems, as do others
It's got to be a bug in the Moto ROM. I'm sure it will be fixed either by our devs or their's
My front facing camera will not work
Sorry to the OP if this is off topic, but didn't want to start a new thread.
Issue is, battery drains faster than it is getting charged while in use. playing game on it while charging and still sucks battery dry. any constructive thoughts is welcome

Umm the exact reason this phone is not getting ics. Its been well known ics is gonna be more intensive all the way around. Not a shocker.
this sony posted about the differenances of gb and ics:

We have the same ROM on BML and MTD. The main reason is that even if we have a larger system partition, we can still not fit bloatware, touchwiz, and ics.
As mkasick has said before, Samsung can change BML and RFS all that they want for an update. They just do not choose to because the Galaxy S 1 should be EOL by now and even if they did do an ics update, it would run pretty slow and be buggy and miss features of toucheiz that the average user likes.

I see the average user as they want an update from thir damn phone so gps works and want a better look, I've asked several people I know who have this phone they don't know anything about rooting, etc... they all pretty much told me they wanted something that works and were all tired of the TW look to it so I say otherwise. Get rid of bloatware its not needed and strip TW away as much as it needs so ICS will operate.
I asked them all about battery life and they told me it doesn't matter as long as a charger is near by there were a few who said I would like longer battery life and pointed them into the rootin process. I surveyed more than 10 people.

Why does it matter if TW is present in the updates Sprint gives us? We're all rooted and have a choice between stock/custom TW or AOSP roms. Sprint is only updating the Epic long enough till they get a new slider that have LTE. I doubt they'll update pass GB, and the value pack would be pushing it. Too much of a hassle for those who like their phone for it's average looks.

Our phone isn't a Nexus brand phone, so bloatware and TouchWiz are mandatory (so to speak) on our phones. No way around it. Sprint/Samsung would never send out an update to a TouchWiz based phone without TW on it. While we here at XDA would love nothing more, it's simply not going to happen. They have to profit some way, some how from all that crap otherwise there wouldn't be a need for it in the first place. And once it's there, from a stock standpoint, it's there to stay.
I bought this thing 3 days ago and today I turned it off to charge it and now it won't boot past the nexus logo. I never even got around to rooting it. Finally got it all set up the way I like it and it decided to brick itself. Was really loving it, what a buzzkill.
Update- Did a data/cache wipe in recovery and it finally booted up. Spoke to google tech support, apparently it's a known bug with 4.3 and they're working on it.

yup that dreaded X logo boot loop lol, i had to wipe data then do factory reset to get it to boot up as well , i might have gotten a lemon myself but im just gonna suck it up and keep it.... today is my last day to return it from staples... 14 days
i get random reboots, wifi freeze/dropping, when this thing works its blazing fast no doubt, similiar to the nexus 4 but 7 inches and way easier on my eyes, don't need to use my nexus 4 anymore aside from the odd phone call/text msg
Why do all you people turn it off to charge. I see no benefit what so ever. Every time I hear of something getting f'ed up its because they did this.

Never quite understood that myself. Seems pointless.

The irony of that image is that it's a white guy in makeup playing a black guy. Funny...
How is that irony lol?

I do understand the futility of turning it off to charge, call it an old habit. I turn all my devices off to charge, have for years. But, that isn't the issue here- one should not have to be concerned that their tablet isn't going to turn back on once it's off.
Why don't you just restore your tablet? As long as you don't have anything important. You should still be able to access fastboot mode.

Just make sure you have the fastboot drivers installed. Open the utility, make sure you are in recovery (fastboot), and you should be able to recover your device.

I thought you might not had a recovery flashed. It's good that your tablet is going at least.

Right, I barely ever reboot or shut down any of my Android devices. No need to at all for charging.

Again, am I not allowed to turn off my device? Or is that considered taboo these days.
I don't turn off to charge but I tell you this should not be an issue. What happens if you leave your tablet on and it runs dead. You have to charge while its off and then go to turn it on and blooey. No, that isn't acceptable. However I'm glad to hear Google is working on the issue.
As a side note...yes I agree you should be able to turnoff your device without issue...
But I have always been trained that turning an electrical device on/off frequently is harder on the components than leaving it run. Assume that still holds true for today's electronics.
Yes, this has nothing to do with your n7 not restarting as it should.

I don't think anyone is saying you can't (although I'm sure you don't anymore lol) Personally I just don't seem understand the benefit. When I leave the house I simply put it in airplane mode and I don't leave it charging unattended. While in a perfect world it shouldn't matter, you should be able to leave it turned off and charge for days without a problem. But unfortunately these devices are far from perfect.

Not, you absolutely are NOT allowed to power down your device!! You are only allowed to do what the majority of the general public sees to be "normal"! If you take 1 single step out of those boundaries, you will be shunned and possibly even stoned(no, not stoned like that you reefer cheifer, stoned with actual rocks. And no, not that kinda rock you crackhead, rocks from nature that you find laying on the ground)!! Can't believe you didn't know that!! You must not read to many public forums these days! It's funny how people say they prefer Android because it's open and allows you to customize how you want; but then if you mention something that you do with your device that the majority doesn't do, you will be questioned about it and some will even try to make jokes about it. Quite ironic how that works!!! Not saying that the previous members who posted are that way, just making a general statement and joking around with the OP after his comment.
